It’s not often that a would-be suicide bomber’s family end up paying for the misdeeds of their relative but this is exactly what seems to have happened in a small Afghan town on over the weekend. According to reports, a young man, who had just returned to his home in Uruzgan province southwest of Kabul from a madressah on the other side of the border, told his family that he intended to carry out a suicide attack and also gave them a considerable amount of money which local police say he had received from his recruiters. Upon hearing this, and especially after seeing him wearing a vest fitted with explosives (and often used by suicide bombers), the man’s mother tried to stop him from carrying out the attack. A physical struggle ensued and the inevitable happened — the explosives went off, killing the boy, his mother who had tried to save him, a brother and two sisters.

Who is responsible for these deaths? The brainwashed youth who thought he would be a martyr and go to paradise if he blew himself up and killed ‘infidels’? Or his family members for allowing him to meet people who would teach him such things? Or the madressah in Pakistan, where the young man reportedly went and received his indoctrination? There is nothing more reprehensible than killing and murdering innocent people in the name of one’s religion, more so because no religion sanctions such mindless violence. Those who train and recruit suicide bombers are nothing but terrorists using children of poor impoverished families as foot soldiers in their ‘war’ against the west. At least this young man’s mother had the courage to face him and tell him that what he was planning to do was wrong. But, sadly, she paid for it with her life. She is the real martyr.

The government has already started its campaign to influence the SC case against Mush. Per Sher Afgan, ".The imposition of martial law can’t be ruled out if the Supreme Court decides that President General Pervez Musharraf’s re-election from the present assemblies is invalid, said Federal Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Sher Afgan Khan Niazi on Tuesday...". CJP should have constitited a full bench for this case as this may be the most important case in our history. Especially when there are pro government judjes in the panel and they are all from Punjab.

@ Sajjad:

Point taken. Nonetheless, India had the princely states, a semi-feudal structure, and the caste system. Slowly but surely, the responsible and represented officials as well as media kept exposing society's ills.

Equally dangerous now are the fanatics who need to be kept in check. Ours is a society when a suicide bomber is born every second. I cannot understand how the judicial system could allow the construction and reconstruction of Lal Masjid on illegally-encroached land and then not take notice of tyrannical state within a dictarorial regime!

@democrat
I fully agree with you. A worse elected govt is thousand time better than so called good dictator.What i mean from my above comments doesn't mean I m supporter of a dictator. You have mentioned India. Well there they don't have a feudal system. Even in villages poor people can't be threaten to vote against him. What I mean if somehow country get rid off the feudalism and establishes accountable society with proper justice than the election will be more fruitful than now.

@ Sajjad:

I love the poor, illiterate, and innocent 99 percent Pakistanis. Simultaneously, I despise the remaining one percent parasites and the the hypocrite elite who keep blaming "jahil awaam" for all the problems.

It is all the more important that we do not fault the concept of representative system of societal organization. Look at neighboring India! Let an elected system of government properly nurture and flourish!

The re and re-election of Sheikh Rasheed and other politicians like him show the real picture of the non-mature political society in the Pakistani. Unfortunately, big proportion of the peoples of Pakistan are illiterate and more worse they have equal right to vote as highly educated person. It is very important to understand that in a democratic society where govt has to be choose by a voting system, really reflect the whole nation or big part of the nation. Now the literacy rate in the England, America and other European countries is very high and therefore, they understand clearly to whom to vote and every election lead to a very stable and national interest oriented Govt. In comparison, Pakistan has inverse condition (very high illiteracy and feudal system. Therefore,more than a 80% people don't know how their vote can a affect the whole nation or some of them can not vote to the person they want because of feudalism. So every election in Pakistan lead to worse condition due to the poor selection of leaders. However, I hope, People like Dr. Shahid, Taalat Hussain, Hamid Mir, Faaiza Dawood, Kashif and so many unknown people who are trying to educate people will really change the society one day. We shall be very thankful to the private channels and their staffs who are really working hard to show the real picture of the Pakistan to its people. I want to clear one thing here, when I say pakistan, many times it mean Govt. Our country is so beautiful and I love my country more than I do anything. But we are they one who can make it Heaven or Hell.
