I don’t have great hopes from PPP at the moment, but PPP is important for political & democratic process which country needs to go through. Elected politicians are important, not generals.

Politician Bhutto left a safe Pakistan. Zia gave it Heroin & Kalashinkov; Politican BB & NS left a relatively safer Pakistan where leaders used to be on public’s shoulders, General Musharraf has turned that into Suicide bombers haven. Leaders are not safe even with body guards and trucks. Politicians got us Gawadar, Generals gave in East Pakistan, Siachen, Kashmir and God knows what’s next.

If someone believes that politicans failed and that is why we need generals then Jehangir Badar should become Chief of Army Staff whenever Army loses (like 1971 or Kargil).

Please dude but seriously i dont believe any of the old parties and truth be told niether does the public of pakistan. ppp and pml be it which ever league a,b,c,n,m,o… but the kind of corruption weve seen is facinating and now again these so called champions of democracy want another term, so that they could do something for their country. given a third term . chances are we aint gettin much this time either baring a miracle. choose somebody new. ur a citizen of the country use ur vote wisely. and if ur a government supporter then all i can say is that may god help you. cheers

Benazir Bhutto, a kleptocrat in a Hermes scarf.

    @ ali

we need politicians. Read my post again. Even if you talk about corruption, Gen Mush wrote off 53 BILLION rupees a couple of days ago. All rich people (Mush’s 40 thieves). Even BB’s alleged billions are being forgive by Mush. Who is the biggest corrupt??

There is no other way than going through political process.

If you have seen corruption and you prefer General, then a POLITICIAN must become COAS whenever army fails or does anything wrong.

  5. Kami on October 31st, 2007 6:20 pm

    @ Faizan

Jemima Khan lived in Pakistan for more than 11 years. She has a right to have her opinion. Her article doesn’t prove that Mush is better.

Ask Imran Khan and he will tell you that Mush is the most corrupt - What is more corrupt than to seize power and start ruling 160 Million people without a free election?

BB & NS have the right to go to public. We would welcome Musharraf if he resigns, waits for legal 2 years and fights elections.

  6. ammar on October 31st, 2007 6:54 pm

I say worst democracy is better than a dictatorship. We need fair elections and we need to bring a PM who has support of the masses.

Do you think today if Shaukat Aziz holds a rally even 100 people will turn up to listen to him? Can Musharraf hold a rally outside MQM’s HQ - zero (something)?

Yes, BB and NS has looted this country but Mush regime is no different? all the current ministers are either lotas or Naibzada. So what is the difference? Mush has no people support where as political leaders can bring country together.

  8. kashaf ali on October 31st, 2007 7:41 pm

i agree malik another excellent prog by asma shirazi. good questions and grip over the show. i think if we want our country to move forward BB must stay here to stop generals with her peoples power. she is a changed person after her landing in pak. she can do the job i believe. at least she has more right to rule pak than these generals and non political technocrats.

    Hey Guys,

Has anyone gotten BBC’s older documentary about BB and Zardari, “The Princess and The Playboy”. I have been searching for it with no success. Anyone knows what year it was aired at BBC? Can someone put it on Youtube please????

  11. Ali on October 31st, 2007 8:30 pm

As long as there is no education system in Pakistan the Wadera politics will continue.

BB will not allows anyone else to become PM. She is Tahayat chairperson.

After her it will be Bilawal and so on…

The only way true democracy will be established when the people are free to vote and are not held hostage by the Waderas.

Someone ask BB, what has she done for the people of Pakistan. Did she build a free university or a Cancer hospital ?

Aitizaz Ahsan is the only real honest leader in PPP and I hope that some day he will become the leader.

  12. Kami on October 31st, 2007 8:55 pm

    @ Jheenga Lala

For the time being Youtube and search on Generals’ deals and surrenders in 1971, Kargil etc.

  13. Sheraz on October 31st, 2007 8:55 pm

I feel sorry for this man. Benazir treats her crap with more respect than him. In 2002 Musharraf was willing to make him prime minister but Benazir didn’t let him. If in these presidential election there was an iota of chance that he could be president (like if Musharraf is denied presidency and 2nd winner would be president etc.) Benazir would never had let him run as a candidate. I pray to Allah that he give him something called self-respect.

this guy is benazir’s personal slave.

  16. Kami on October 31st, 2007 10:44 pm

Politicians are corrupt but corrupt Generals allowed them to do corruption so that they can blackmail them. Generals didn’t allow them to have free foreign policy.

Chaudhry Shujaat - most corrupt person is with government.

Altaf Hussain - Former Bicycle guy, Bhatta collector murdere is with government.

53 Billion written off by Mush couple of days ago (for his 40 thieves).

East Pakistan/Kargil/Siachin and many more to come lost to India - most corrupt act.

Whole country (with 160 million people) taken over by few generals.

Generals are the most corrupt breed. Musharraf called BB corrupt and then negotiated with her. He is begging to talk with NS.

Biggest corruption is to take over the country and insult its constitution. All other corruption seem nothing when we look at army corruption.

Politicians might be bad, but we have right to reject them. We never chose Gen Mush, the liar.

  17. ali on October 31st, 2007 11:32 pm

    kami

i never said nor mentioned that i support a general and nor do i endorse the fact that corrupt ppl be it in the government or in the queen B’s party. they should be brought to justice but the fact of the matter remains that if ou bring in the old guard that political process will never catch momentum and head in the right direction. our three fundamental problems are 1) lack of education 2) law and order and 3) last but not the least our overtness in expression to religion . i mean it has expanded to such a level that it has clawed its way into the cricket team and for that matter forget the cricket team its in our everyday language. religion is but a way of life and its suppose to be between an individual and his god kind of like the concept of dua u dont announce what you want from god out to the whole world do u. And as for choosing a worthy political candidate id put my money on imran. because of the sheer factor that barring everything else he atleast has a moral high ground unlike any other running contender that we see.

    @Jheenga Lala
BBC has not released that documentary from its archives so there is no way to get it from there. However, if somone has a recorded copy they could tell admin to update it.

what we need at the momment is hormony among the political cadres. Issues based politics produces good to the nation. Parties should concentrate on real issues of the country instead of jingoism. Character assassination of leaders must be avoided. If someone disagree with particular idealogy, he/she has right to reject it through ballot and logic peacefully. In this regard PG has contributed a lot. Good show

  20. mustafa on November 1st, 2007 8:22 am

addmin thnk u for uploading this show.i agree with mr. shah it,s really the need of the hour to realize what is happening to pakistan.unfortunately pppp is negotiating to the establishment and makhdoom is asking to root out the role of agencies in politics.asma is very right while saying that how can pppp root out agencies as they themselve are negotiating with agencies.

  21. Hamid Mahmood on November 2nd, 2007 9:17 am

Great Program, good presentation on current PPP’s hipe but I think PPP should have to decide thier new party leader in replacement of Bibi because as far as her political career is concern. she isnt suitable person now and for the futute of Paksitan like Mushi.

Got something to say?
