Why all of a sudden Lawyers, human rights activists, and the media are against the emergency imposition? I see people are signing petitions and unnecessarily ranting over Musharaf’s executive decisions.WHy don’t they come out actively when we have bomb blasts, blemished educational system, poverty, and gloomy welfare benefits? Why quibble over the semantics,”DEMOCRACY” or “state of Emergency.” How many people pay taxes during democracy or not democracy? do we have any welfare benefits for, women, elders, minorities during democracy? What is democracy? Pakistan is an impoverished country, literacy rate is 16-19%; do majority of people ever benefit with those democratic constitutional debates? Its much more to it than ranting over a few words we learn living in western worlds. Most of the western world especially the industrialist world have persecuted and demoralized our identity, culture, and religion but nobody signs petitions. There are numbers of times emergency is imposed in the US and UK after sept 11. govts have imposed these measures to control situations.
Do we really want to listen to these oppositional people who have done nothing but created disparity, chaos and gloom in our nation?
– Although you have right to comeup with your opinion according to your own mind of set and being realistic 100% concensus is not possible. But I would say that..
– Even in case of disastrous earthquake, you may find few people who take it as dream till the whole structure collapse before they could realise the severity of the situation.
– Instead of finding lame excuses one should understand the criticality of the situation and that it is a right time to contribute towards betterment. Such a turning moment is rare and nations future depends on how much concern and responsible the masses are in their respond.

I will believe you if the person who rules us as a dictator is not from those 90% illiterate either, as you know that the person who joins army is the one who doesn’t get admission at any other place due to his third division marks.
Wow…Acrimonious!!
Read all the names these people have given themselves? No wonder our literacy ratio is deplorable.I request to these people who have no educational background (especially the one who can’t write in Urdu),go to “YouTube” and pass such comments.I have NO time belittling myself from a limited, baseless and derogatory comments.
those who oppose Musharraf, i would like to ask them one thing. who would you replace him with.
a-Nawaz Sharif:
who created ittefaq sugar mills and other big businesses from your and my money..
b-Benazir:
Corruption kee dayvee, during her reign, her husband had stables for breeding horses that had AC’s running 24hrs a day on govt money.
c- Imran Khan:
Play boy whose scandals are very well known today… and today he supports and stands with religious parties.
d- Maulvi’s:
Do number.
now you know why people in pakistan dont come out of their houses against the present govt. they have seen it all. keeping all this in mind please if some one has an alternative i would like to hear it…
I think you are quite naive, IK is with religous parties, please have a fesh air. Hes with APDM for the restoration of democracy not with MMA.
Do correct your stats
You are comparing IKs individual act with the collective act of rest of the guys………???????
tell me one thing ,if your MOM is being raped in front of you by some powerful man against whom you can’t compalin because he has all the power ,how would you feel….
This terms JUDICIIAL FRAME WORK,DEMOCRACY,INSTITUTIONALISATION are not mere words to add your vocabolary ,these are the pillars of a civilized society ,if law is on the hands of powerful (army man) then there will be abuse and toruture …regardless of economical growth ,if law is weak poor and weak will suffer…….
i hope you guies pause for a sec and think aobut the consequences of might is right set up.
p.s thousands of illegetemate children were born in bangladesh bc of brutal physical offences by our army in 1970..
Institutionalize corruption for army by using 90% of the total Pakistan budget.
Staying in power by lieing, and having most corrupt and morally incompetent people like sheikh rasheed, MQM, and illiterate of all Chuhadaries from Gujraat.
Anyone in his/her right mind cannot support military rule. However, I don’t blame you…army has been in power since the independence…so most people don’t even know the alternatives….its just like having a dog … if you keep it for few years you start loving them…however don’t forget its just an animal…maybe good for your protection but not for becoming your president.
“Worst democracy is better then excellent dictatorship”
How many times Imran has ruled this country as PM or president?
He has asked forgiveness of Allah and repented, that doesn’t mean that he has lost the right to do good…his peronal past is not in question. His only fault is that he is not a hypocrate…he doesn’t have two faces.
I think you are missing the whole point of the struggle of Lawyers and of people of concience ie they want “independent juiduciary” so that common people have some venue for their greivences…and the corrupt can be checked ie BB, Nawaz, MQM, out of control Army etc etc.
just as i thought no one answered my question. who would replace Musharraf?
i guess my conclusion is right there is no one with a good character to replace him.
P.S : to answer “Patriot’s” comment i dont even consider Altaf a Pakistani any more ever since he went to india and said” Pakistan should never have been created and pakistan should be a part of India. he should be hung for treason if he ever comes back.
You Matarvas have no other choice but to support Bubban “MIAN” i.e., Mush. The army needs to keep you guys at bay to quell the insurgencies in Balochistan and NWFP. Once they are done with those people, Bubban is going to be gone. It is just that the Punjabi Army does not want to take blame for the Massacres over there. When Bubban is gone, its going to rain on you. Like 50 Cents say, “Clothes off, Face down, a*ss up Baby.”
I like the Army’s strategy, by giving you petty gangsters a free reign, they are turning the public opinion against you. Remember, you guys will never be made men, you will always be hired guns, if you know what I mean, Wink, Wink!!!!!!!!!!
@Malek — ha ha. You watch comments on pkpolitics with family? Ha ha. Sorry but your comment sounded very funny. The way you said it. You made comment reading on a blog look like a family affair. Ha ha.
This is preposterous.I am surprised the way people think & write..No sense of understanding the context of an argument.God bless our country and its inhabitants.
