@all
Please correct me if the first part of this statement is not true.
A dictator or his party has never lost an election in Pakistan and he never will [and he will not loose 2008 election].
@Admin can you conduct a poll on this with the following options.
- Agree
- Disagree

@S Khan
Actually you are wrong. dictator lost badly in 2002 sham elections and couldn’t get a simple majority even with massive over-night rigging. he had to resort to nab to extract MNAs from ppp, pmln and mma.

bechari-awam is right, it was not Mush’s plan to give so many seats to MMA, the public sentiment in NWFP at the time was the main reason and the resulting assembly atleast from NWFP was reflective of that. It is a different story this time, there will be a jhurlo as there always are jhurlo in Pakistani elections but massive rigging is probably not possible on election day. Most rigging now a days is done pre and post elections by bribing, blackmailing, coersion and simply buying out big name candidates whose biradri will support them even if they disagree with every thing that Mush is doing.

Well I think 2002 elections were the most rigged elections at least in the last 20 years. Before elections, Musharraf requested all of his fellows and like minded politicians to join Q-League if they want to win. To keep them in tact, he gave them maximum of seats but not enough to have simple majority. As a result coalition has to be done. After elections, minority of PML(N) and PPP changed in favour of government (may be PML(N) had already very few). MMA’s succes was part of the rigging, and it was intelligently tackled by masking it with the tendancy towards religion in frontier and balochistan.
I don’t think elections would change much this time.agencies are manipulating the potentials of the politicians and they will divide them according to their wishes.
