I am in shock and disappointed on the decisions taken by PP high-ups regarding the chairman and Prime Minister Candidate. Believe me my friend for PPP, these decisions are worse then the tragic death of BB. I don’t see a united future of PPP, more then 3 or 4 months as Zardari is a controversial rather unpromising man and there will be an extensive uprising within PPP against him. They may get mandate if election is in Jan 2008, but if it delays like March 2008, their will be immense differences and disagreement within the PPP candidates which will reflect poor performance in the election and the main beneficiary of this tragedy will be NS.

I was not a supporter of PPP, but I was not that against as I am today after these declaration. It’s an example that whatever happens, but family politics will remain prior to everything and everyone. The party which calls itself democrats has such a dictatorship that they have not considered someone else but Bilawal. Their slogan is Roti, Kapra and Makkan but they made their leader ‘’Bilawal’’ who can’t speak Urdu, who never lived in Pakistan and who doesn’t know what poverty is? Not only this but Zardari, as there co-chair person who remained contentious always.

    My friend Jams78,

Thank you for your enlightening thoughts above.

Could you perhaps then tell us if we as a nation should follow Musharaf, Q league and MQM.

Giving an opinion and displaying sarcasasm is what we do best as a nation as no one thinks of a sloution.

    @Khosa,

Sorry if I hurt you but I didn’t mean it that way. I and my family was supporter of PPP earlier as we thought will be a gateway of democracy, development and rule of law. But I don’t know if anyone agrees with me or not but it was disappointing all the way. Q League is a temporary wound on the skin of Pakistan which will be filled with there failure in election. About Musharraf what else I could say but to refer it to his control over the state, which has seen recovery and boom it’s declining and soon will be obsolete.

I think we should refrain from expecting anything from our political leadership as they didn’t give anything to the mass ever, beside Quaid and few in the beginning. Now the only remedy I could see is the education in general. Because what I have seen instead of poor turn-up by urban people the rural areas participate a lot. These people are innocent, who vote according to the consent of LAMBURDAR, police inspector or chowdhary, without knowing the consequence. So I always pray from Allah that mercy us and bless us in a way that our people and young generation get education. That could bring the change, because for leadership and revolution you need people and the available options are spoiled by the mechanism which has been assembled by our leaders ‘’armed and political’’.

Otherwise we will keep voting for less bad options, because good is not available. Democracy needs people who understand it; other wise the available options will keep misinterpreting that. The way Musharraf has damaged all the institutions of Pakistan, furthermore the respect for army, I don’t expect any fortune, available politicians could bring.

For overseas Pakistanis like us it’s always more painful as we could see so much development and modernization around us but in our motherland Pakistan, the situation is getting worse. The reasons are education and justice, rest of the things will come automatically. God save Pakistan anyhow.

I understand your point and no offence take.

We as a nation need to realise that life does not consist of holding good cards but to play a poor hand well, this is what we have to do, find a lesser evil and not keep looking for saints.

We found a saint in Zia look what he did.

We as a nation should analyse, overall who did more construction and destruction of the fabric of the nation.

I n 60 year history of Pakistan, the Army generals ruled 30 years and only 3 i.e. Ayub, Zia and Musharaf. These generals had unadultrated and absolute power.

Innumerable (probably 10 or 12) politicians ruled 30 years as well with disability and limitations due to obstructive agencies, army, ISI and sometimes opposition.

How is it that we always end up blaming the politicians and no one ever openly blames the Generals, ISI or government agencies.

The only thing is that the dictators including musharaf have nurtured these sharks i.e. mullahs, mqm and Q league and used them as B-team and leave these snakes as problems for Pakistan.

Ever since musharaf came to power, he has been defaming the state in the capacity of its head. Selling to the whole world that Pakistanis are terrorists just to prolong his rule.

Imposition of emergency/martail law by him was a no confidence in his own governance as he is the head of state.

Zia gave us Klasinkov, heroin and poppy generals in the army.

Musharaf has given us suicide bombings, anarchy and is personally responsible for destroying the judicaiary, media and the hopes of an entire nation.

These generals performance started with the murder of Liaqat Ali Khan, Fatima Jinnah, Bhuttos. Victimistaion of Nawaz Sharif, Judiciary, Media, A Q Khan, Civil society and the list is endless.

    @ khosa,

You are right, but what I think the delima is that we can’t trust anyone in Pakistan. Whatever takes place the fact remains hidden. What happened in Murtaza Bhuttos case, though the power was with BB, she could easily ask for international observers and investigation. All the characters of the episode were available, but they didn’t ask any such assistance, but today they are accentuating. I am not against independent investigation but why they didn’t ask at first point in MB case? What nawas sharif has done with Supreme Court in 98 and now he is raising his voice to reinstate the judges and rule of law.

So how treacherous less bad options could be, we never know. What I believe is these people, either musharraf or political parties more or less have the same character with different faces. I am not pessimist but not at all engrossed to get disappointed again.

I am not exaggerating but what I have seen that in every organization and institution in the world, directly and indirectly Pakistanis are contributing. These are very competent and smart people; on top of everything they are honest too. The same headcount is required in our politics, which is exceptional currently. We still are roaming around politics as a family business, which will never allow anyone to grow. As no power for powerless and this voice and power could only be formed through education and justice.

I am a physician at Harvard and yes agree that we as a nation are amongst the brighest humans.

Let us, as a nation keep the hope alive.

Naumedi is kufr as the Holy Quran tells us.

Keep up the good work and every little contribution either by thoughts, words or actions will come together one day insha-allah.

Doctors cite pressure to keep silent on Benazir:

Washington Post Rawalpindi, Jan.1 (PPI): The authorities pressured the medical personnel who tried to save Benazir Bhutto’s life to remain silent about what happened in her final hour and removed records of her treatment from the facility, the Washington Post reported Tuesday. The report said doctors who were at Bhutto’s side at Rawalpindi General Hospital said they were under extreme pressure not to share details about the nature of the injuries she suffered. “The government took all medical records right after Ms. Bhutto’s time of death was read out, said a visibly shaken doctor who spoke on condition of anonymity. Sweating and putting his head in his hands, he said: “look, we have been told by the government to stop talking. Babar Awan, a top PPP official who said he saw Bhutto’s body after the attack and identified two clearly defined bullet wounds — entry and exit points. He said the principal professor of surgery at the hospital, Mussadiq Khan, was “extremely nervous, but eventually told me that Benazir had died of a bullet wound. Why was this man so nervous? Awan said. “He told me firsthand he was under pressure not to talk about how she died. Reached at his home in Islamabad, Dr Khan declined to comment. Zardari was no angel but he can unite PPP. It had to be some one from Sindh as the current situation demands so. Can MQM choose its leader from punjab, after all there are few supporters in Punjab also. ahy Don Altaf has to rule them.

Zardari is not PM candidate. I am not his supporter but he said some good things like
    -Pakistan Khappay (Pakistan is Required)
-No war with army but with rulers.
-No war with Punjab. Many Punjabis laid theit lives during the attack when they were security guards.
-He named Bilawal as Chairman and not himself.
-He said democracy is biggest revenge.

Hassan Nisar in one of his past interviews at urdeupoint had said tha Bilawal will be leader of PPP after BB and it will be right as per Subcontinent politics. But today he has raised some questions in his columns in favour of Ghanwa, Zulfiqar junior. I am not sure why he has changed his mind.

If Ghandi’s are killed then Ghandi’s have a right to lead Congress.
If Bhuttos are killed then they have a right to lead PPP. The Jiala culture is due to Bhutto and workers raise Jiay Bhutto slogan with more force than anything else. You have realise the culture of parties. Ask any MQM supporter to replace Altaf Don with some one else and he will ……., similarly ask any PTI worker to replace IK with some one else and he will not be happy. Wali family is leading ANP, Fazlu family for JUI-F, Bugtis for JWP, MUSH and Chaudhries for Q-league. why we only single out PPP.
