ok stay immersed in your stone-age ideas about race and ethnicity. the world has moved on and you are still stuck on punjabi and pakhtun. and if pakhtuns are part of Pakistan because of their religiousity, then whats holding the sindhis back? or the nationalist balochis back? why cant they get their rights? dont swear to God about things you're not sure of, it might be backfire on you, fear Allah. I am a punjabi and i hate the army as much as anyone else in Pakistan, and i probably care more about the innocent people dying in NWFP and trial areas than you seem to, because you just dismiss them as religious fanatics. your hypocricy is very clear for everyone to see, just stop pretending to be what you're not and tell everyone that you are a Mush/MQM supporting Muhajir who is trying to spread fitnah here. im not replying to any more of your stupid posts.

@Traffic
Paki Army is 95% Punjabi and ask any Bengali and he will tell you about East Pakistan. Ayub Khan was Hindko (half punjabi) and same was Yahya khan, don't count them pathans. It was during Ayub khan that made west pakistan one UNIT and made it. Tikka khan was from Miawalli and Punjabi. You will also call A D Khan (Allah Detta khan) a pathan. Punjab was the most loyal army of British India and even fired shots in Khana khaba in Mecca. The only reason ISI basters and Paki Army is ruling Pakistan is because they are Punjabis. The only reason Pathans are slaves in pakistan is because they are very very very ignorant and very very very Islamic fanatics. If they were not religious fanatics, I swear to God Punjab will never be able to rule Pakistan for a single day. Q League is punjabi and so is N leageue and let me tell you if Laloo Parsad became pakistani President then there will be L league in Punjab. Punjab just want to rule, whatever it takes. They will be loyal to Lalo Pa jii too if he became a PM. I think time has come that you open your eyes.

no use arguing with you. anyone who believes that people should be blamed based on their ethnicity is an idiot of the highest order. what was ayub khan? yahya khan? the first dictator of the pakistan army who hijacked pakistan and opened the door for military intervention was a pakhtun. you talked about east pakistan, well i think it seperated because of the discriminatory policies of the pakhtun dictators ayub and yahya, and the mass murder of bengalis by pakhtun army commanders like general tikka khan, also known as "Butcher of Bengal". also it was a sindhi and not a punjabi leader called bhutto who refused to acknowledge the victory of mujeebur rehman and hence caused more resentment in the bengalis. then another sindhi leader called benazir bhutto looted and bankrupted pakistan. ofcourse this does not mean i start blaming pakhtuns for all this, like you are doing. then after that a muhajir bastard came and hijacked the country, and we have been miserable ever since then. this muhajir has an agenda to break up pakistan and its hypocrites like you who play into his hands. i wouldnt be surprised if you are a closeted musharraf supporter trying to spread fitnah here.

@ Anyone quick to point at Punjab

Dont blame the lack of leadership in the country on any province. Our so called leaders/administration or better call them looters had never been sincere to anyone, any province but to themselves alone. Its easy to point finger at punjab being the most populated province and thus naturally having more share in administration. The poor in punjab is as poor as anywhere in the country & corrupt of punjab is as rich as anywhere in the country.
Atleast, the civil society of Pakistan should think above the provincial divide and work towards one common goal; upholding Justice! Only this will allow the rightful share of every person to reach him/her, no matter where they reside in the country.

One of the sources of continued trouble in our country is the US and West centered policies of our establishment and these have never helped our country. They have only helped the army and the establishment. In fact in recent years, the so called war on terror has had a devasting impact on FATA/NWFP as well as the rest of the country. What is a terrorist? Can anyone define that for us? Are people fighthing for their basic rights and fighting against injustices terrorist? Give the people of FATA and NWFP their rights and some sense of justice and you will not have the so called terrorist. I am a Punjabi myself, but I fully blame the predominently Punjabi Army and Establishment in excluding the other provinces from any decent share of resources. We have to share resources in proportion to the populations and we have to move towards more regional foreign policy to stablize our country. We have to forge serious strategic alliance with Iran, India, China and Afghanistan (in a post Karzi environment). Karzai is a US stooge and you can't work with the US backed fascists. TIME FOR A CHANGE.

@ Traffic
There is no provincialism here. Mosm leageue was founded in Dhaka in 1906, then why East Pakistan separated and why we don't speak about it. GM Syd participated in Pakistan Movement and later was turned a Traitor. Only Punjabis are patriotic and anyone who speak for right is a traitor. Open your eyes. What Gen Zia did 27 years ago, now we are reaping it. All this Taliban drama was created by ISI.
Yes I know the Head of the Army is MQM Jiallla. The 20 Choor commanders are Punjabis. Army is looting an plundering the nation for last 40 years and Punjab is silent because they are their own.
Pakistan Army never won any war, lost 1965, 1971, Siachin and Kargil. Pak Army is recruiting innocent young students and send them to Kashmir to fight their proxy war, is it not a Coward act. Baluchistan is backward and the scapegoat are Sardars. Have you ever thought about FATA. What is FATA. Why FATA exists anyway? Why did the center no merged FATA in mainstream Pakistan? Because Islamabad wants to keep NWFP divided and in dark ages.
NWFP and Baluchistan represents 60% of Area of Pakistan and 23 % population, yet they do not represent 5 % of Islamabad and Foreign Office. 6% of the budget from Islamabad goes to NWFP and Baluchistan. Is n it a SHAME.

please take your provincial mindset elsewhere. the army head is not a Punjabi, and most of the previous dictators of Pakistan have been from the NWFP, people like you are two-faced hypocrites who like to take advantage of any situation for their own parochial agenda, whatever the hell that is. Nawaz Sharif is the only popular Punjabi leader to rule Pakistan, the rest were all non-Punjabis. stop spreading your lies and hatred here.

Dear All
Pakistan or Punjabistan
The problem in Baluchistan, FATA and Swat is very simple. Pakistan is ruled by ISI and Military. 95 % of the Army is Punjabi and the rest urdu speakers MQM. Punjab elites and ISI has colonized Pakistan. They are taking $ Billions in Aid and under cover fueling and creating religious militancy for their nefarious designs. On one hand they are developing Punjab and MQM controlled areas, developing urban centers, industries and Freeways and on the othere hand Pak Army and ISI erected Madarassas in NWFP and Baluchistan's length and breadth to nourish these innocent souls for extremism . MMA was brought to power by Musharrf ISI through rigging in NWFP and Baluchistan. Qazi of Jamat was a right hand man of Ziaul Haq for 11 years. Sharia is a drama. You cannot bring Sharia in one part of a country, it should be adopted through out Pakistan. The fact of the matter is no body want Sharia. Sharia is very vague and in lum sum its Mullah Raj. Mullahs are the most corrupt people in our society. These religious extremism is the creation of ISI and Army in NWFP and Baluchistan to keep in 7th Century.
Pakistan has to change or change its name name to Punjabistan.

An interesting and frank interview where Hina is not at all afraid to call a spade a spade. Obviously, she speaks from a liberal and what I would call a humanist viewpoint which may not be to everyone's taste but has to be taken very seriously.

Her analysis of the general political situation is perceptive and thought provoking. However, with regards to Baluchistan particularly, I would be very interested to hear views of any Baluchs on this forum to comment on the relative exploitation of the ordinary people by the local (i.e. Baluchi) feudals apart from the Federal government. From a pretty far away reading, I would hazard that the causes for the deprivation and resentment of people in the province are multi-faceted and not only to do with the misappropriatoin of their natural resources.

I would also have liked to hear Hina's views on where she sees the lawyers' movement going in the current politcal context as most political parties seem to be (at best) paying lip service to the restoration of pre-emergency / martial law judiciary.

Overall, very good work by the pkpolitics team; keep it up!
