Iftikhar Ahmad has totally blasted Ishaq Dar. Even I could have given better answers to these questions.

It looks Ishaq Dar did not come up prepared.

PMLN had delivered much more than what Ishaq Dar could explain.

This is where Benzir used to create difference. She could swing the bettle of words very nicely even without any ground facts -:))

Mr. Dar is typical of the people who surround the so-called leaders of Pakistan. Just look what happened to BB whose security chief was Rehman Malik who now is trying to find excuses for his incompetence and negligence. Mr. Dar does not make one feel very confident as to the small men who will be in position of power .

Why is’nt Iftikhar Ahmad running for office ? he is certainly much smarter than Dar.
So the question is why aren’t the smart and good people running for office ?

Thank you @admin for loading this program

A good program host needs a number of qualities; the ability to speak well and clearly, to be able to improvise, to have a background knowledge of the subject - whatever it is, and the confidence and ability to relate to his audience.

I think that Ishaq Dar realized very quickly that this was not a PJ Mir or Javed Malik type interview.

As for brother Masood Ahmed’s observation that “This is where Benzir used to create difference. She could swing the bettle of words very nicely even without any ground facts”, check out her interview on this very same program where she walked out on Iftikhar Ahmed after his barrage of uncomfortable questions.

    You see truth hurts.

Masood Ahmed just given a standard knee jerk opinion. I doubt he has see any other programs hosted by Iftikhar :)
Masood should also look for “Great Debate” hosted by Hamid/Iftikhar, we would appreciate his insights in to “preparedness” of guests.

Intellectuals can’t run for office because political party structure require kissing butt of party leader. Intellectuals have independent thinking, they speaks their mind and they are misfit in the present political party structure. Yes, if they know that their independent thinking won’t be consider a disloyalty then but infact it will be appereciated then we will plenty of higher educated people joining the political process.

I really enjoyed watching this. Hopefully ML(N) has learned some valuable lessons from their days in political wilderness because I still remember how disgusted I was when I heard about the occupation of supreme court and the confrontation b/w parliament and the supreme court.

thanks for posting this and kudos to Iftikhar sb. for holding Dar’s feet to the fire and making him squirm a bit :)

I believe PML-N Manifesto is well balanced and is good for pakistan and for it’s citizens. I wish Mr Daar was well prepared to answer all the questions put to him. Some of the questions were irrelevant and out of place. For example Mr. Iftikhar keep asking, ” why was not things comleted during the last govt. of NS”.

The answer was, ” NS’s govt. was prmaturely hijacked by the General and thus many of the good plans were not carried out.”

    Zarak Khan:

It is not complete truth that BB walked out from Jawab-Deh; she did walk out but returned to finish the interview. I am not sure if she got too frustrated with the sharp questioning or got too emotional. Watch to complete interview spanned over 6 parts at:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXSPDcgwKMA&feature=related

The walk out is at the end of part 5.

I find her very inconvincing and on the defensive most of the time, but one has to realize that a lot of the questions were of classified nature, and being a former PM twice, and a strong candidate in future, I believe no smart person in her position, with a little bit understanding of Pakistani politics and influence of army and intellegence agencies, would have done better than her.

I am not fan of BB, but i must admist she was much better at communication as compared to anybody else.

PMLN has already delivered a lot in their tenures, Motorway project, improved public transportation, better law and order arrangements in Punjbas especially, start of good relations with india, removal of 8th ammendment, privitisation of banks and some other govt institutes, nuclear experiments, and much more. We can’t compare the tenure of Nawaz Sharif with BB or any body else. He for sure delivered the most, if not the best.

But on communication side, i am afraid after loosing people like Mushahid Hussain, there is a huge list of dumbs on his left and right. I wish he could have better people representing PMLN in such programs.

    Guys

We should not view this programme from the point of view that a certain politician got blasted by the programme anchor. The politician are supposed to face tough questioning and at times they are unable to answer the question the way we would like them to answer. At least they are answerable to someone or the people.

Have we ever seen a sitting general or Crore Commander (i mean core comander) COAS or a military dictator facing the similar kind of hostile questioning and able to answer the questions. In UK Jeremy Paxman is known for even tougher questioning of the politician and seasoned uk politicians sometime fumble and stumble.

We should take these programmes as political education and not a swipe on the politicians. remembe this country was achieved by the politicians and not the military DICTATORS. We should have more respect for our politicians and should strive to become a politician. Political thoughts are the highest of thoughts in any society.

Learn politics, practice politics, live politics, breath politics

Ishaq Dar is a Chartered Accountant and a financial expert. He is no career politician.

Those who think that talk show hosts are “intellectuals” perhaps don’t know how these programs are produced. There is a whole production team (including researches) that formulates questions to be asked from a guest.

The researchers dig deep into the past of the guest or his party and analyze every word uttered by them in the past. They also highlights the key points taht are considered shortcomings of that ‘party’ or individual.

Teh talk show host gets the end product and just asks the questions in the program. He is utliizing teh work of a whole team but for lay men he is the ‘intellectual’ and takes all the credit.

Tell me which other party is eligible to govern ?

If nothing else, at least Nawaz Sharif has matured over the past few years. He made some mistakes in the past, but at the moment he is standing on principles.

I don’t know what the normal public wants, they are not happy with politicians and yet want to see the changes happening automatically by only sitting back in drawing rooms and watching the GEO/ARY. Well that’s not gona help.

Either we got to come out on streets, or at least help the politicians who are at least standing on some principles.

PML-N has balanced and good manifesto. They have demonstrated that Pakistan comes first then politics when they showed support to PPP at the time when provicialism was preached by Q-league and MQM. They want to separate army and politics. they have good track record and also have good future plans for education, human resource devp, rstoring confidence in the nation that they can live honourably. They plan to restore judiciary and release Dr AQ Khan from the miseries of MUSH and BUSH.

PML-N is the best choice available from the avaiable parties. We should vote for them to make restore our dignity and make Pakistan a prosperous country.

I am PPP supporter, but this interview was not bad, Ishaq dar was pretty good. Though, Ifitikhar was not grilling him too much as he often put away the things by saying “Aagay chalen..Aagay chalen”.

    @Masood
I’m glad PML(N) carried out these projects that you mentioned and they help our country develop. But PML(N) is not the only party who has done most for this country. PPP has also carried out the projects which directly influenced the commoner of Pakistan. For example,

Land Reforms: Distributed 35000 acres of land among the landless peasants. Each farmer was given 12.5 acres of land.

Energy: Ghazi Brotha and Neelam Jhelum projects, HUBCO, Construction of Akra Dam etc

Industry: Petrochemical project started. An assembly plant of Toyota Hi Ace, Jeeps and Cars, . A new plant of Suzuki Cars was constructed.

Defense: Two Frigates, Indigenous aircraft production. New sophisticated radar system started operation. Acquired sixty F-16 Planes. Agosta submarines for the Pakistan Navy. Tanks for the Army, Missile capability

Telecommunication: Built a Satellite Station connecting Skardu, Gilgit and Gawadur with Islamabad. Microwave channel was built to connect Karachi and Peshawar. Lying of the optic fiber line. Introduced cellular telephones, digital pager, satellite dish and FM Radio.

Development: Airport at Sehwan Sharif, and Gawadur. Work on Ketti Bandar Port started.

Abandon of Discretionary powers: Cabinet members were forbidden to take loans from Pakistani Banks. State Bank of Pakistan made an autonomous organisation.

Employemnt: Tens of thousands of jobs provided to the educated but unemployed youth in government departments, banks, corporations and autonomous bodies.

I hope you will be glad to know all of this! These are the projects from only PPP’s two incomplete tenures from 1998 to 1997.

    Regards

PPP has done much more for the country than PML N and nawaz sharif as nawaz sharif is the person who saying at night that he is going to boyeecott and at the morning he is saying to contest the election. he is not mature person and politician.
He is the birth of dectatior zia ul haq and grown under the ISI and establishment( this is what sayings of general Hamid gul who was chief of that time and form IJI to defeat the party of the poors PPP).
he come to pakistan via a deal.
    He finance the lawyers movement.
he is the master of downsizing in his tenurres.
    he attached on supreme court.
This website is financed by the nawaz sharif.

only the party of poors and shaheed-e-jahuriat Benazir Bhutto party has the right to govern this country.

Pakistan never got those F-16 after payment rather they did not return the money even. This continued for some time till….

in NS 2nd tenure, there was an agreement b/w Pak and Sgovt that they will refund the money for these F-16, partly in the form of Wheat supply.

A contract was signed in the same year under the Peace Gate IV Foreign Military Sales Programs, for the delivery of 60 F-16s for US $1.4 billion or approximately US $23 million a piece. By March of 1994, 11 of these planes had been built and were directly flown into the Sonoran desert where they joined the 11 Peace Gate III aircraft in storage. A further six aircraft were stored by the end of 1994, so that a total of 17 aircraft (7 F-16A’s and 10 F-16B’s) of the Peace Gate IV order are now stored. A stop-work order affected the remaining 43 planes of the Peace Gate IV contract.

I think Iftikhar Ahmed is just stupid to say the least. He is not interested at all to listen to the views of the other. This is mainfested in all the previous interviews he has conducted. He asks too many questions without the tolerance to listen to the answers, never let the guest to finish the arguments. Like in this interview he asks about nuclear energy projects and says is there any pressure on your party regarding it but when Ishaq Dar tried to answer the pressure, he said just talk about the Manifesto.

Even with the interview with Benazir he was more hysterical then BB and at one point Benazir has to tell him “Calm down, Calm down”.

This program might be good for Iftikhar Ahmed only but for others this is useless. I think Talat Hussain, Nusrat Javed, Hamid Mir and Mushtaq Minhas are much better hosts.

What can you expect from a finance guy of a party whose leader is Nawaz Sharif. They are a bunch of amateurs who don’t know the basics of running a country of 160 million. Mr. Nawaz Shari is best suited to be the Mayor of Lahore to improve the sewerage system of the city.

We know leadership is all about decision making and a decision is only as good as its weakest link. Mr. Sharif and his advisors have consisting demonstrated that they lack wisdom in making decisions. Their decisions have been taken before deliberating a 360 degree analysis of the results of their actions.

Just recently in the after math of Ms. Bhutto’s assassination, an abrupt decision to boycott 2008 elections even without consulting PPP and even their own PML (N) members, proved to be a wrong decision at a wrong time. As it turned out, the affected party (PPP) did not have any problem with 2008 elections and Mr. Sharif and Co was stranded in the mid air with nothing to fall back on. It would be an optimistic expectation from such a leadership to run a country of 160 million.
