Foreign investors who have stuck with Pakistan are clearly made of stern stuff as it heads towards an election on Feb. 18 that, while not a presidential poll, could put President Pervez Musharraf’s future in doubt. While the world frets over a nuclear-armed Muslim nation that al Qaeda wants to destabilise and is still reeling from the assassination of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto, the investment community has largely held its nerve.

If foreign investors are determined to stick on, then they must have found something sure & profitable in their interest? Its easy to sit far away in district Scarborough and advising folks to pull out their money and make a leap for Canada. Those who love this motherland would love it any way and wont leave it.
Warm wishes

Heard that these International organizations are expanding rapidly because they feel that they will become multinational in case the new world order becomes effective(God forbid). This what I heard from the head of one of the international company in Pakistan.

Summary of the video “Myth of Underdevelopment” posted above:
“The stupendous fortunes that were-and still are being extracted by the European and North American investors should remind us that there are very few really poor nations in what today is commonly called the Third World. Brazil is rich; Indonesia is rich; and so are the Philippines, Chile, Bolivia, Zaire, Mexico, India, and Malaysia. Only the people are poor. Of course in some areas, as in parts of Africa south of the Sahara, the land has been so ruthlessly plundered that it too is now impoverished, making life all the more desperate for its inhabitants. … the Third World is not “underdeveloped” but overexploited. The gap between rich and poor nations is not due to the “neglect” of the latter by the former as has been often claimed. For forty years or more we have heard how the nations of the North must help close the poverty gap between themselves and the nations of the South, devoting some portion of their technology and capital to the task. Yet the gap between rich and poor only widens because investments in the Third World are not designed to develop the capital resources of the poor nations but to enrich the Western investors.”

You are right that I am not an Economics’ student but ‘Patriotism’ certainly I have read a lot. I do know how one can make 100 dollars by throwing in a $10 bucks just in day and then leaps for Canada and preaches other to do so (appna appna paisa luo aur nikel luo). The problem with us is that we all want to live in a Utopian environment. We brawl for our benefits but when it comes to our responsibilities we run away, instead of playing our required role. I think you are right that all those who have no love lost for this holy motherland must
