I think if they decide to sit in Opposition is right thing to do because they should sit with mush and co as they were with them in last 8 years. it is not right to change friends every five years. i think they have some kind of dignity thats why they decide this . but hope they will not cause any problem for new gov.
I think they should be accommodated even if it means that we have to bear with their crimes. Even after rigging, they do represent a big segment of Karachi population.
Till Urdu speaking people realise the crimes of MQM leadership, we should let them a few ministries. Pakistan is there to remain and throwing some BONES to Altaf Hussain and Baber Ghouri will be beneficial for Pakistan in the longer run.
Baber Ghouri is known as Mr Trillion (not Billion) according to a senior Jang Journalist (probably Omer Cheema or Ansar Abbassi). The journalist referred to him ONE MQM federal minister. Maybe more stories will come out and people will see real face of these people. So let them share the government (and share the blame too).
We call on OUR governments, especially the US and the UK, to end any intrigue and offer unqualified support for this democratic transition in Pakistan. MQM stand naked and we not need them in ANY future governments. They have clearly shown that they believe in mafia methods and terrorism. Instead of proposals about letting them work again with the new government, we should have them tried in the court of law for crimes against humanity, “Bhatta khori” , terrorism, rigging (there are many prrofs on the Internet) and Send proofs to Scotland Yard so the mafia leader AH can prosecuted. I am tired at seeing them play a false victims role time and again.
you are right but sometimes it is wise to wait for a few years to get maximum. We should wait till they are exposed in the eyes of Urdu speaking people.
Throwing few bones to Altaf for the time being will strengthen democracy. Their city Nazim has already threatened with city blockade. Sometimes it is good to let them do corruption and collect more proofs. If they get half the publicity that Zardari got in the 90s, no one will feel sorry even if they rot in jail for the rest of their life.
@Optimist
I understand your point. I think we agree about MQM activities, but we have our difference on how to get rid of this menace. In my opinion the Karachi citizens are ready to get rid of them, but the dare not to say anything, because of these “Bhatta khor” terrorists. Who would like to loose his/her life by saying anything against MQM?
It is not difficult to figure out who to target, I don’t think a swift and well planned action can fail. It should come as lightening from the sky…..catch ALL key figures and put them in jail. They should have a FAIR travel in free and independent courts.
@Optimist
i agree with u. may be AZ is also thinking the same way as u and i and many other do. may be mqm is also aware of this strategy tahts y they dont want to be part of govt: i wonder what AZ will do after this decission of mqm.
A good decision. Opposition has a better role to play in both the houses .Major task in front of MQM is to call the leader of their party from united Kingdom to Pakistan ,otherwise people will consider him a mohajir who has settled in Kingdom on migration from Hindustan .His stay in Pakistan shall be considered as a transition period . Also Mohajirs must consider them selves as Pakistanis (Like Punjabi or sindhi indicates their origin but all of them are Pakistani) .Urdu speaking people enjoy key positions in the country . They are much better of than other miserable Pakistanis because of their high intellectual .They are well placed in society . .
i have been reading your comments over this MOHAJIRS issue, the attitude you have against PPL OF KARACHI AND CITIZENS OF PAKISTAN is so hatred i would say, being a pure karachites does not support mqm.not even ppp and pml N corrupt politicians.
did u ever feel guilt by supporting nawaz and zardari ..? we have seen there government not only once …twice my life and wat they have givin to pakistan?
more chaudrys and more wadera..more corruption, spreaded hate which i could easily see in ur words.
mohajirs became pakistani in 1947 after few hrs of hijrat..these so called mohajirs gave there blood for the creation of pakistan,we have complete rite to be in parliament to be part of pakistan’s decision and we are pretty clear the ppl of karachi that we are true pakistan who live as pakistan….so it better that you start working on your heads and think.
we dont support altaf ,but ppl in karachi left with no choice just because of this biased opinions you ppl have ….
I have no faith in Mqm,ppp, nawaz And soon you will see wat they are upto in the parliament, more money more crimes, nawaz shareef yesterday said we will take revenge..wat the hell..
There is only one Man who can change and thats Imran Khan
I think it is so unfair with our brothers living in Karachi being dominated forcefully by the low-life thugs known as MQM.
And I agree with the mak1215 partially that, they are left alone and PPP and PML N have not propagated their messages properly. They are left all alone to be doctrined by MQM in their famous committing cruelity on their own people and then playing victim tactics.
By now, they should have been integrated with sindhi brothers like the migrants of Punjab, but it is Primarily MQM and some of sindhi nationalist parties responsible for this rift.
Being a sindhi speaking, I assure my urdu-speaking brothers of sindh that, we welcomed you in 1947 and our hearts are still open today for you. And you are not alone in your efforts of getting rid of mannace like MQM.
brozzer, plz don’t confuse anti-MQM with anti-karachiite or anti-mohajir.
MQM is a group of 3000 highly trained fascist and criminal individuals according to US Department of Homeland security, which takes part in terrorist and violent activities.
MQM defends their “turf” like a mafia group does. Look what they did on may 12th? They do the same when other parties come into their areas for political work. They intimidate residents, they intimidate and if needed KILL other partie’s workers and therefor create an atmosphere of terror.
This is not what political parties do, this is what fascist mafioso’s do.
Can you imagine ANY other political party in pakistan using language like this?
For example:
Jo Nawaz ka Ghaddar hai, voh maut kaa haQdar hai.
…or…
Jo Bhutto kaa Ghaddar hai, voh maut kaa haQdar hai..
..or..
Jo Imran kaa Ghaddar hai, voh maut kaa haQdar hai?
Do you realize how odd this sounds?
You get the picture. IT is not a political party, it is more like a mafia which is into extortion business and hit terrorizes the residents, buys police and even puts up it’s own assembly members. Mexican and Colombian drug cartels/mafai’s do exactly the same.
I agree that MQM have received votes and seats. However, I don’t think they should even be considered in the government making process. Every true democracy needs an opposition, let them sit in it. I am not against the people of Karachi or anything like that. But until you can get a decent number of seats in Parliament, or be working with one of the parties with the most seats in Parliament, you shouldn’t be considered for making the Government. AZ and NS don’t need MQMs support to form the government, so why take it? It would be like asking PPP and PML-N to accept PML-Q and JUI into the formation of a government. Both of those parties also recieved seats in the election, but that doesn’t give them the right to join in now. The election results were very much Anti-Musharaf, and these three parties (MQM, JUI, PML-Q) were very much pro-Musharaf.
Have you got so many IDs that you had to choose the name Mark1215? I wonder what 1214 other names are!!
If you can’t read properly, then read again. MQM Munafiq hide behind a lot of rubbish but in fact they only love Mush/MQM. Only criminals can get offended.
If you read my comments again and with help from someone, you will not have to worry because they don’t insult ordinary people.
All MQM fascists uses same excuses and think that I will be on defensive footing.
Go read with the heolp of dictionary or some friend who understand English. I know mnay ordinary people from Karachi and they agree with me that MQM guys are a bunch of criminals and murderers. People of Karachi are biggest victim of MQM fascism.
It is ironically true that MQM does not represent urdu speaking people.
It is also true that they are forced in to a situation where they end up voting for them, even if they don’t box got filled and these criminals get elected. We in Karachi know this, this is 2008 now every body knows about it as we have free media and new kind of journalism where ordinary people can put videos on you tube.
People of Karachi have same problems as any other part of country, I would not compare. Let me explain by telling about a girl “She lives in Landi Korangi area
parents are old got three sisters and young brother, she works in a factory which is located in Hub area. She goes to work by bus. She comes back home after 14 hrs pay is very little no benefits no thing”
Now lets go to any other part of the country you will find this girl every where.
In villages this girl is even more unfortunate.
But in Pakistan we do have Defence socities ,North Nazim Abad and Jodheri/Wedera villas too.
I am against MQM because of its lies and policy of vigilance and hate mongering. Would I like other parties ? answer is I don’t .
All parties are from us , if they are hijaked by some selfish politicians we should be able to admire them or criticize them on the basis of their record .
Lots of my friends on this forum point out that MQM is the only party which gives ticket to middle class it is true and I appreciate that. BUT you should see when they listen to the Qaid’s address, to me it is no different then the OTAK of wadera every body is sitting on floor with head down. This is also Fudilsim I can give it many other names but lets not go there.
What we need for the future of our country is
Education every where for every one. Every tehsil/or taluga shaoud have one university and technical college.
Small local industries big would not heart ether.
Mass transit system in all big cities.
North to south and east to west highways.
We should be voting for who would be creating more jobs.
AND who would be able to make institutions strong so we have peace and prosparity.
There is rural Feudalism and there is Urban Feudalism, there are Rural jageers given by Raj bahadur and there are Urban jaageers given by Fauj bahadur (right to extortion)
It does sound, look, walk, talk like feudalism and a cult of personality (unfortunately).
I think they’ve decided this after the phone call Ch Pervez Elahi to Altaf Hussain. They must have agreed on sitting in the opposition and do some work for the next election.
I believe next time PPP will get so strong that even NS will lose votes, Pakistan will not always have this Judges Problem.
PPP is the best party, democratically speaking. They’ve always been the largest party in Pakistan because of their Ideology.
I don’t understand what do MQM (Altaf Hussain) mean by their demand of respecting the mandate of MQM and literally threatining to accept their mandate.
The only reason I can understand that they want to be in the Sindh government at any cost. I wonder why they forgot to respect the mandate of PPP in 2002 Elections, when despite the fact PPP won in the province but was not allowed to make the government. And MQM with only 13% votes occupied 60% of the ministries.
The mandate in Sindh is of PPP, MQM has won most of the seats of Karachi, and every body despite the reservation on some seats accept that. They are part of Sindh Assembly. But they are still not able to form any government and they should not demand to be part of government as it is PPP’s right.
