I think MQM did give their unconditional support on request of Gen Mush not on request of Zardari. I do not think PPP would give them any thing in center in Sindh may be Governership with one or two ministries.

MQM won 2008 election with sheer riggining. Now with Punjabi, Sindhi, Pathan and Baluchi almost fifty percent of population with ten percent Urdu speaking voting for other parties than MQM, MQM seat from karachi would (should) not be more than 9 seats.

I usually refrain from commenting on MQM as well as PML-Q , as both of them are not political parties in any sense of the word. MQM is just a mafia , which has taken a shape of political party and has direct links with establishment, there were several such parties in the history of Pakistan which were developed on mafia lines , e.g. Sipah-i-Sahaba etc. Now sometimes mafia is left on its own by the establishment, it is upto the mafia to survive and most of them will not be able to survive without the establishments backing. However MQM is like Italian Mafia and over the years they have developed enough internal inertia as well as the means for survival , including but not limited to Bhatta , Dacoity, organized crime and a parallel government in Karachi.
However even though they can survive for a short period without establishment , but they need a long term solution. As with any mafia it will be impossible for them to survive for a long period against the government therefore they are trying their best to get in good books with PPP government. And all these gimmicks are basically to lure PPP in some way.
However I believe that though PPP is okay to talk to them , and get their "unconditional" support , but it will be totally impossible for PPP to give a lot to MQM. PPP has been out of the government in Sind for over 11 years, they need to strengthen their position in province and it will not be possible for PPP to share the pie with them. And when PPP refuses that MQM is going to start the real mafia operation. So let's wait.

MQM is saving its Ass thats why they are supporting PPP. They fear otherwise MQM(AFaq) and Sunni Tehreek can take over or minimize their influence on Karachi. and at the same time they are shielding their murderers who have killed thousands of people.
