Well follow the principles of Islam. Learn from Quran and guidance from hadiths. Adopt how our Khalifas used to work. Adopt half of their ways… Showing off culture will not take any where.

Have open discussion with local economists, not the imported ones whose interests are WB and IMF.

    Cut down non-developmental government expenditures.
    Cut down military budget
Stop paying MNA Rs 1.5 Million (15 Lakh) per month
    Stop DHAs
Put a ban on foreign travel at government expenses.
Only Foreign Minister /Prime Minister allowed to travel. Only after their trip is discussed and approved by Parliament.
Stop asking people for sacrifices when the rulers live like royals

Only if there was a will, there are plenty of ways of improve economy.

Rotation of money is the back-bone of economy. Don’t overload single person/company for managing all sorts of work like the slaves. Distribute tha big projects into smaller ones, in this way the workforce needed be more, making the environment more diverse for working, people an focus on their piece of work & its improvement.

Its all about culture, develop a culture where the level of respect is not ones “class” but ones dedication & commitment towards the community. Thats not that simple to change your life style & thinking, but thats the only way.

Talk about destroying the economy from day one. Look what the current government just did. They raised the minimum wage from Rs 4000 to Rs 6000. That is a 50% increase in a single step. That pushes the minimum wage above even the per capita income of Pakistan which is Rs 56400 ($925). Now the minimum wage alone will be at Rs 72000 ($1200). That is a 27% percent increase above the GNP.

This will cause companies to become unprofitable. They will leave Pakistan and the investment will dry up. This will force companies to lay off large number of people as they will not be able to pay them this increased forced salary. Many people will be forced to work “under the table”. This will in turn drop them out of the tax net as they will get paid by employers under the table and without recording them as taxable emplyees.

Way to go the “best government” since the “worst government”. Remember the good old days of Rs 400 billion tax revenew as opposed to the current one trillion rupees, and the below 1000-point stock market as opposed to the current above 15000 best performer. Well, good by to all that.

I don’t understand which thing is keeping our rulers by implementing ISLAMIC system in the country. If we take a look at western countries and above those Scandinavian countries, they have perfectly implemented the law of KHILAFA, that we used to have in the times of KHILAFAT E RASHIDA.

I don’t know why they are fearful with the word just ISLAM: while western countries who are non-muslims they have implemented this system the only difference is that they are non muslims.

OUr present law is just a GARBAGE. who protects culprits more than victim.

We need to learn from some best practices around us. Bangladesh’s Dr. Younas (noble laureate on economy) gave an excellent example of micro financing to stimulate a poverty ridden economy.

Pakistan can learn from such best practice. Instead of feeding the filthy rich, the bank money needs to flow down to the needy poor. Coupled with a massive education program on business planning and skill development, this scheme can perform miracles in Pakistan’s economy.

How many of us know that an Icelander high schooler can write a better business plan than a MBA from Pakistan, if any.

—– No, MNAs are not paid Rs. 1.5 million a month. It is even less than Rs. 0.1 million. Compared to their responsibilities, their salaries are a pittance.

—– Microfinancing is more hype than substance. I have first hand knowledge of bangladesh and know that Grameen bank of Dr. Younis has no significant impact on bangladeshi economy. In fact his lending rates are monstrously high even higher than commercial banks. The boom in textile sector of bangladesh came about beacuse of thehigher quota available to it being among the least developed countries. Still, bangladesh seems to reamin one of the least developed countries for teh foreseeable future.

    — The business houses in Pakistan are still living in 19th century and are family run. The ’saith’ culture is keeping us from realizing our potential. These hereditary businessmen do not think about the long term and are interested in making a killing in the short run. As a result, they keep their profit margin atrociously high, thus not only decreasing their future growth but also hurting the whole economy.

Unless, the business families become silent owners and professional managers are allowed to manage businesses, these business houses will remain just a blip on global map.

Even in a country like india, the business empires of Tata, Mittal and Ambanis have grown only when they stopped interfering in business themselves and left the business to professional managers.

    1. remove the burden from common man by reducing indirect taxed. like sales tax, GST.

    2. Apply capital gains tax on stock market transaction. Stock market also needs to be reformed.

    3. Tax the buying and selling on real estate.

    4. Tax the agriculture industry especially the feudals and exempt the small farmers and haris.

Unless these steps are taken nothing will change.

After becoming a nuclear power we don’t need to spend so much on defense. We have to channel more budget to Education,Health and welfare to destroy poverty.Yeh Qaum ghairath mand hai.If it gets the oppertunity it will work to better the economy.

    I. I think following steps must be taken to improve our taxation departement:

    1. The government must facilitate those who are paying taxes like there should be a social security system they must be provided some kind of aide in health sector.

    2. Car salers must pays taxes like on sale and also income taxe.

    3. Income taxe can also be collected from private hospitals

    4. Property salers must pay income taxe.

    5. impostion of a local taxe on house holders and this can be given to city governement for roads and all.

    6. Services sectors like transport can be a big taxe payer unit like transporters must pay taxe on their income from transport.

    7. All retails shops must pay income taxe

    8. There should be an obligation for second hand cars purchaisers to transfer thier cars in 15 days on their own names and a taxe can be imposed on this type of registration.

why this discussion thread is almost dead…………………

“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum - even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there’s free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate.”
    Noam Chomsky
