New Government to Strip Musharraf of Powers?

Former Pakistani Premier Nawaz Sharif says the new government is planning to pass legislation to remove Pervez Musharraf from power.

“Musharraf has harmed many institutions in the country. We intend to bring the legislation in Parliament for Presidents removal. Musharraf is isolated and will have to go,” The Nation quoted Sharif as saying in an interview with a private TV channel in India.

Very confusing moments at a stage where we need clear messages from the parliamentarians. NS is saying the opposite of AZ. Don’t they consult each other?
    What a joke :-(

    What is wrong with PML-N?
Are they going to go with Zardari on ‘minus-one formula’ ?

However, they noted that the leadership had also discussed the option of talks with Iftikhar Chaudhry after his restoration on his politicised role during the lawyers’ movement. They said that several PML-N leaders had said that it was only natural that the CJ would develop a “soft corner” for all the lawyers who had been at the forefront of the lawyers’ movement. The leadership said that the chief justice’s modus operandi would have to be re-examined if such a situation arose.

Have heard private tv anchors on some most watched Pakistani late night talk shows say that AZ most cleveraly talked NS in to fight elections, afterwards when he saw peoples mandidate to NS, he most inteligently dragged NS into power sharing in centre. Now he is joining hands with MQM. AZ is simply following MUSH BUSH unfinished agenda, in return for so called National Reconcilliation awards.I can see it written on walls that AZ is heading for troubled waters ahead, as his own trusted loyalists with in PPP are beginning to wonder and revolt about his real motives. World has seen the ultimate fate of Mukhdom Amin Fahim, who was promised stars and moons .If that is the case NS must dis-engage from the so called ” Murree Accord “, before he he finds himself ditched into point of no return. If NS can play his cards properly, he will win hearts of Pakistani Poor elite for generations to come.
I am confident that New Govt will not strip MUSH from Power., because PPP’s Foreign Minister Minstre of Defence are issuing pro MUSH BUSH statements. Mr NS please wake up, this wolrd is full of treachery.

Nawaz Sharif should be more concerned about restoring the judges, reducing the inflationary mountain and fighting militancy than going after a lame duck President.

Will removing Musharraf reduce inflation? Will removing Musharraf finish off militancy? Will removing Musharraf solve the executive vs judiciary clash experienced in every government in Pakistan?

The answers to all these questions are a sound no. Instead of fooling people by going on a anti-Musharraf stance, Nawaz Sharif is avoiding real issues.

msuahraf and his allies are the root of all evil. i guess ppp will play their traditional power monger political game. they even cashed their leader without taking notice of what musharaf/master was upto, infact their notification has no deliverance when it comes to kursi.

PPP is just playing game with innocent (bhola) Nawaz Sharif. But, all keep in mind that will be better for NS as he will come back winning goodwill of the people.

Here is what PPP is following!!!

    SHAIQ HUSSAIN
ISLAMABAD - Irrespective of President Pervez Musharraf’s growing isolation in the face of a strong parliament full of dictator’s political foes, the Bush administration is indulged in hectic ‘behind the scene’ efforts to ensure that its major ally, now a retired general, continues to secure his incumbent slot. http://www.nation.com.pk/daily/Apr-2008/7/index4.php

I will repeat AAhmad’s concern that why the American Ambassador met the ALTO terrorist?
With the emanating statements of Zardari about the Judges and his ministers about the president, the situation is really grave. I think there is some arrangement going on between all these elements.
But for how long you can go against the will of people?

it is realy a good step to stop unbridled musharraf,s worthless power.. but my point of view is diferent,,,,,,, i live in spain and i have passed many years in pakistan seeing the habits, culture and daily social mananer or ways of life of the people.. our people are so lazy and have lost thier moralality and sourtesy, eveybody is proudy, unsocial, and selfish,, nobody even likes to say assalm o allaikom to his neighbour or his poor family members. the society has destroyed his dingnity and is suffering from worthless MODERNIZATION.

so in a such sitation this is only power of musharraf that can stop poeple and society to hate more from each other,, in punjabi u can easily say that, LATON KE BHOOT BATO SE NAHI MANTE,, so as a society is, musharaf is good to torture our society.. for example,, you juste leave the our silly society loos and without asking them, just give them a free hand only for one day and u will see the result , you wil see what this silly society will do with kindness and politeness,..usman khan sapin.0034-634101023

    Re; Usman Khan
well Mr Usman Khan I dont agree with your logic and probably majority will not as well. I don’t see any logic in your point, apart from supporting Mush for the purpose of support.
I am afraid we are all from the same silly society. The society in which you and I are living, took centuries to evolve. Have we been given opportunity to evolve at all? 40 years the bloody army has been ruling us. What did the dictators bring to us?
I have a strong belief in our people/society. It just needs a leadership.
This society has shown great change in the last one and a half year. And it takes time to evolve, provided you are given opportunity and leadership.

right thing they have to take powers from musharaf than he will leave.but if they donnt take any steps to remove pakistan army from politics through carefull legislation not only slogans than another musharaf will come after 8 r 10 years just like ayub and yaya than zia and musharaf.and after every zia and musharaf another buhtoo will be killed.

    1) I as a Pakistani, take exception to comments by somebody calling himself as Usman Khan. I am not inclined to believe, that he could be a true Pakistani, as to be so callous & insensitive to the feelings of us all, which he has badly hurt.

    2) He must either be a non-muslim, from MQM, or a person who has lost his ‘maroons.’ But I still strongly feel he should not call himself a Pakistani.Does he know anything, sitting far away in Spain, about the debauch, despicable & the morally reprehensible Musharaf ?

    3) Does he know that the guy that he is recommending, to further torture Pakistanis, is already a confirmed murderer of thousands of our countrymen, whether of high & low bureaucrats, civilians from different walks of life, military men, policemen, etc.

    4) Does he want Mush to be another Pinochet ? My advice to this individual called Usman, would be to stay back in Spain & never to venture back, otherwise if people recognize him as such, then he will meet the same fate as that of the infamous Rushdie.

    5) This guy should learn some more history, & while in Spain, he should ask where the truly enlightened have vanished, who were massacred by the Christians & Jews. Where have those muslims gone, who ruled that country for over 700 years?

    6) May I put a question to him, that from where his forefathers originated; if not
the areas now comprising Pakistan? But still, he has the temerity to call it’s people & society as, SILLY ?? Thus, does he not abuse his own forefathers also who belonged to this country ? By going to Europe & settling in Spain, make a person, a man of wisdom & less silly ?

Lastly, what Dr.Sarmad has told him politely above ; should be enough for him,
not to repeat his thoughts here again, because back home in Pakistan, WE DO take pride in our ‘ SILLY ‘ people & ‘ SILLY ‘ society .

i personnaly feels that MUSH should go as soon as possible because he has taken some extra constituionnel steps but in larger intrest of pakistan we as a nation will not be able to passe through an other crisis so N.S must forgive MUSH but they must take off all his power and all powers must given to PM and i like the vision of both parties given in CHARTER OF DEMO, the vision that is to stronger commities of senat and NA and to empower PM. and i have an other proposal for political parties they should make a ammendement in constitution and president should be elected directly by people of pakistan as per in most of countries….

Got something to say?
