The food crisis is unfortunately much more widespread than one can imagine. As always the poor are suffering even more than anybody else.

A big demand for biofuel has resulted in a sharp rise in food prices all over the world. The prices has been raised in an alarming speed, because of decline in agricultural land for food crops. A considerable part of American agricultural land is now growing corn for biofuel where it used to be soybeans and wheat.

Many other countries as f.ex. India has stopped export of rice in fear of severe shortage of food, but what did our leaders do? They exported it to cash money….to hell with the poor :-(

This was a nice episode - but its true they couldn’t cover this topic in whole. Now they might should do a seperate episode for just looking into the solution for this major problem.
