she did not answer question about india clearly………… you write a book against your country’s army while sitting in america and india and expect not to have doubts???
April 10th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
@Hardliner: Questioning the totally opaque practices of the Army is somehow being “against the army?” … is your favorite army’s troubles bigger than that of the Israeli or the US Army? Their budgest at least get discussed in assemblies and there is a reckoning for any failures.. meanwhile here, our “daanishwars” under pseudonyms write one apology after another for whatever juntas are foisted upon this wretched nation (thanks to jurnails) of ours.
Everyone who wants to do something for the country is an indian agent.. nevermind the warriors who laid down their arms after raping and maiming their own countrymen (bangladesh, in case ur wondering) , conquered their own people repeatedly and have given nothing but defeats and griefs to a nation that has always eaten last but provided for them first???
I am not talking about the common soldier.. they are the ones being used for the benefits of an elite of unpatriotic foreign proxies.. also known as jurnails.
BTW, she did answer the question clearly. she said she was in india for 1.5 months (?) for research on her next boom (which, btw, will be beneficial to Pakistan Army too.) .because you know.. aside from amassing all this wealth, your jiyalay jurnails never actually bother to understand their enemies.
result is humiliating defeats in 1965, 71, 99 .. wrecked institutions and a wrecked economy. The only growth industry these jurnails politician wannabes have provided is that of swiss foreign account managers (in switzerland or england mind you).
and please don’t ask me to take back 65 because it violates the romantic sh!t fed to you in 5th grade about how we “totally kicked a$$”! gaawd! do you know ayub khan ran out of bloody bullets in 4 days? And the only excuse he had was.. “we didn’t think indians will violate the international borders”.. Just go over that, let it simmer, realize it was said by some douche who liked to call himself “Field Marshall” and weep (if you want).
These people were (and still are) too incompetent to run the military, let alone our unfortunate country.
In fact its ABOUT TIME! , and we need more people like Dr. Siddiqua, and less apologists lik Ahmed Quraishi and .. ahem.. nuff said.

Does some body have any link for the song she was trying to sing.It brought ears in my eyes.
April 11th, 2008 at 12:46 am
I grew up in awe of these people in uniform. Then I was removed from the Pakistani scene for many years. When I cam back, I got to see these wariors up close and personal with a mature mind. I am sorry to say, not a single serving or retired officer from my immediate and extended family and their friends with whom I had a chance to associate or any other member of this community whom I met by chance, did I find admirable. I am sure there must be some estimable personalities, but I have’nt met one, or may be I have just turned into a cynic. Although I met some lawyers that I liked but there were others way too despicabe to make up for the better amongst them.
Jawans I found hard working.

there are a couple officers in my family and both are gentlemen and not a$$holes at all.. but they are not well connected (there is an internal aristocracy in the military) … all the javans I met had been either in 71 or 65 war and most of them were kookoo for some reason.
low level soldiers etc are treated like sh!t .. exactly as the british did..
Paki military is an extension of the British (now US ) establishment and they protect their master’s interests very well.. in return they are allowed to pilfer and make personal fortunes in the the hundreds of millions (DOLLARS.. in case anyone’s wondering)

April 11th, 2008 at 4:29 am
@hardliner: hope u r not Ahmed Quraisi (because he IS a giant RETARD!) sorry to say.
April 11th, 2008 at 5:18 am
Pakistanis are divided between pro-West Right and the anti-West Left pretty much along their approach towards their country’s economy. Nothing new here. Even Americans themselves are divided along similar lines.
If you compare the US and Pakistani left wingers, you would find the same anti-establishment streak. People like Siddiqua and Qureshi are typical left wingers, so they will continue spewing hate against anyone siding with the American or economic Right. And in this case Pakistani Military happens to be in the crosshairs of such foul mouthed lefties.
We in America sometimes call these charlatans “Limousine Liberals”. These rabid politicians and so called intellectuals want all the good things America has to offer, and yet they want to sleep with Marx-es and Lenin-s of the day.
Leftists in America as well as Pakistan face the same resolute farmer class dominating the heartland of the two countries. The same farmer class forces these socialists and neo-communists to stay hidden in the ivory towers of the academia or in the big name leftist newspapers.
So let the leftists beat their tiny drums, while Pakistan and Pakistani army will continue saving Pakistan from the utter destruction in the hands of Islamic-socialists.

@Robert: WHAT?
April 11th, 2008 at 11:30 am
Those who said that ayesha’s is exaggerating the military’s loot culture then I will add to their information that ayesha only highlighted in a very humble way of miltarty white paper corruption in the name of national interests.Reality is more bitter than it and it is that Pak army has become one of corrupt army of world. The following are some points that is ignored by ayesha
- The generals are involved in dr aq khan and ojri camp incidents and all truth have been hidden in GHQ.
-Top army mangement is involved in big scandals of purchase of sopisticated helicopters and submarines sales from french company in which they had also benfited some burecrats too.
-most of smuggling in Baluchisatan and peshwar borders are controlled by army men of FC,rangers and NLC,Here from captian to brigadeers are involved in the cross border smugling of petrol, food products and fertilizers and surpisngly all is ignored by GHQ.
-Mostly NAB top seats were captured by generals and brigd and through out their period they were indulged in corruption, world tours in the name of investigation on weekly basis ,(these world tours comprises of first class travelling with 5 star lodging and heavy TA/DA in dollars and even then give full protection to top most corrupt characters of our society.
-BMW , mercedez and now bomb proof luxurious cars are being exported for core commanders and defence personals.
-All retired generals even occupying the high post of sister organisatons of army are blessed with civilians technocrats positions without any efficieny and credibilty.Gen arif hussan and munir hafeez are two among the fifty generals who are enjoying the triplets benefits from national treasures just because they are mush’s under wear friends.
If any body need these list can be prolonged but it is all true , bitter and pinching reality that we have made dacoits in the uniform

Thank you guy for two books I really wished to read.
1. In the line of Fire by Busharraf at http://www.makepakistanbetter.com/articles/INTHELINEOFFIRE.doc

I will now start reading both of these book
April 11th, 2008 at 6:53 pm
@ establishment
i was just wondering if u could tell briefly what she has written about gen. hamid gul ? thanks.
April 11th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
The problem is that you guyz just cannot come out of your shell. You just say here whatever you hear from our media or from our politicians. You dont have either ability or dont want to think out of the box.
-1965 war we lost on tables, not on war field. it was india who contacted the world for the peace talk, but then it was our bad diplomacy that the war which we won on the battle field we nearly lost on tables.
-1971 separation involves not only army but also politicians. It was your beloved politian whose eager for power cost us. His warning that he will break the leg of anyone who would go to dhakka is widely known. And yes army part was also there, but dont blame army alone please.
-1999 Kargil war was not the failure, the main purpose was to hurt indian position and bring kashmir issue as flash point in world. We killed more indians then in 1971 war……..it was your beloved politician who provided the audio tape of two Gens talking. That tape was played by indian media and that deeply hurted Pakistan kargil case.
-It was your beloved politician who provided the list of sikh rebels and we lost the chance for the 1971 pay back.
-It were your beloved politicians who tried their best to destroy ISI by using them for their political purposes. Remember ISI works under prime minister not army chief.
-Some one above commented about submaries from france. So for setting the records straight I would like to inform you, it was the PPP govt and then next PLMN govt charged PPP govt for taking kick backs in those sub maries deals.
-It were your politicians who kept on dealing with people like bugti and giving them millions of rupees just because he can allow gas or oil pipe lines for the benefit of this country.
There is no doubt that army was involved in corruption but it does mean that you make them responsible for each and every problem of Pakistan.
Look at our politician, first they come in politics with the help of establishment, then they join a party….then they join hands with establishment to enjoy power benefits and when everything goes bad they come out and sit in front of media and say that…..yeh establishment haam ko chalnay nai daitii……… Hypocrasy……
Now I seriously doubt that my comments will be published… take care all
April 11th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
@TK
nai bhai…I am not Ahmed Quraishi……..but I like his columns. I know he is pro establishment but there is no harm in reading the establishment point of view of issues beside reading other things. This gives you larger picture then just following typical media programs which keep on pressing same issues with same arguments and with same old people.
April 11th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
@Hardliner: regarding ur second comment, sure.. but what he’s talking about is mainly regurgitations of “the (king’s?) party line”..
And regarding the allegations of just listening to certain channels only.. I think the reasoning you have given would convict you of that offense more than those who have opposed your support. But that is just my opinion.
65 lost on tables? That’s real rich… remember what Kosygen said to Ayub ? I think a little out of the box reading is in order
April 12th, 2008 at 12:12 am
I know there are difference of opinions. But i have seen india celebrating 1971 victory, giving medals etc to their soldiers, never saw celebrating 1965 victory.
If india was in winning position, why the hell they asked for international intervention to stop that war……
Only Pakistan is the one who claims victory by celebrating 6 september. Never seen any argument from India. If you listen them, then when they talk about wars between india and Pakistan they talk about 1971 and say that we defeated Pakistan badly. Never talk about 1965 war.
I have seen 1965 war videos where Pak army penetrating indian controlled towns.
Yes our situation was also bad and it was blessing that india asked for talk and wanted to stop the war………The only battle field we lost during that war was kashmir and the biggest reason was that kashmiri people did not supported army at that time because they were not ready for fight.
Anyway these discussions now are i think useless. We should try to save whatever is left in Pakistan.
April 12th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
@ Hardliner
90000 Soldiers surrendered still you are in doubt.
Indian ARMY entered hundreds of miles into west PAKISTAN in 1965 and still you are in doubt.
In 1999 Pakistani soldiers died even more than 1971.
If you go to some Library in PAKISTAN and read news papers of those dates you will find it was us who wanted to end the war every time ( even we instantiated every war).
We pay taxes for our next generation to be prosperous,to be better educated but all this money goes into the pockts of bloody generals.
I have been studying in Cadet Colleges which are for the children of ARMY Officers.Children of ARMY Officers used to have None Commisioned ARMY Personnel’s (Sipahi’s) for their clothes cleaning, shoe polishing, house cleaning and as their body guards. Why, they are paid money to serve their country not their officer’s wives and children.
I wonder no body has raised this issue ever.
Pakistan ARMY is a ARMY for officers. Its wars are against its own people. Its motto is to rule its own nation. Its success stories are to conquer its own supreme court, its own mosques and its own prime minister houses and its missiles are for its own nation(Ojri Camp).
Its the most corrupt, racist organization of this country.
I do not hate the poor, ordinary sipahi’s of the ARMY but I hate the officers the bastard generals of this ARMY.
We hate you Pakistan ARMY.
April 12th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
@hardliner: dude.. it doesn’t matter who celebrates what.. they shafted you and have been and will keep on doing if you don’t stop deluding yourself (and this ‘you’ is rhetorical.. for me and you and every pakistani)
The anecdote I mentioned is part of international record. You have every right to propagate your point of view, but please note that there are consequences for our nation and I would suggest you take your own advice and read up something that is ouside the realm of “ra ra pakistan!” BS textbook thrown at the public for the longest time.
Now our khisiyani billi is just trying to “get back” at India by interfering in punjab and kashmir.. but look at what the boys are doing.. have the tinpot wannabes ever given the country a chance to stand on it’s own legs? the answer is a resounding NO!
Yes the feudal class is the cancer, but guess what? our so called “disciplined and educated class”, namely the GHQ (still residing in the same goddamned building from which the British used and promulgating the SAME BLACK LAWS that even the British didn’t have to heart to use after 1857)
This is the reality of your “patriots” they are nothing but foreign proxies.. their interests and their lives and their families are NOT tied to this land. To defend them is to defend the destruction of this land. It is an atrocity and treason of the highest order.
April 12th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
4th para should continue and read as follows:
Yes the feudal class is the cancer, but guess what? our so called
April 12th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
