My adivce is also that one should spend a day in a lower middle class area of Karachi and then find out what they had to say about MQM.The only political movement who in real raised the voice on behalf of 98% middle class people and also from them people got elected.The only movement who's leader has never ever thought of getting any goverment seat.There are some negative issues related to MQM but all are not true and if we discuss about negative issues then why not we discuss about positive issues also like Mr.Rayan said i agree with him there should be a fair game.Those who think that goverment can crush MQM by using force like before so they should also know that at that time also many MQM office bearers,workers,supporters and common people got killed but even then MQM survives.MQM is the only one who has faced the worse state operation but didnt gave up still fighting for the rights of common man and inshallah iam sure if the govt will repeat the same thing again then this time they will going to get a proper answere from the people of Karachi.If people are soo against of MQM then why they even voted for them and you cannot say that every single vote is being cast under pressure because people in Karachi are not that stupid they know what they are doing.Many people do have certain reservations against MQM but this is not true that the whole Karachi is against MQM and people of Karachi will not going to accept any kind of state operation against any political party of Pakistan not just only MQM. This our Pakistan and everyone has the right of freedom goverment has no right to misuse its power which is given by the people.If people can give they can take also for example some of the past goverments tenure are enough to proof my point here.

@Syed Yahoob: being judgemental and opinionated brings out peole's true feelings about an issue and that is an opportunity to learn. IMO, my opinions point in the right direction.

One of those vague markers is the massive influx of people of one ethnicity into Karachi and eventually in Hydrabad. Can you please give me your opinion of why this happened? Don't tell me this was a "mere accident"....

There were many patriots in Pakistan. The infighting started almost immediately after creation of Pakistan, and the LAK murder was one of the few first events to wrestle control of Pakistan from democratic forces and hand it over to the foreign proxies like Ayub and iSkandar Mirza.

I don't know why you assumed that I am imposing my identity politics.. its just a theory I have. It can be right or wrong. I have tried to elaborate on my thinking on Pakistani politics in terms of identity politics and how that has been key in defining who gets to rule Pakistan. We have managed to wreck the country and made it subjugated to foreign powers in the process.. but as long as one group wins over all others.. HEY.. what's the big deal? (and by that "one group" I don't mean the usual red-herring "The big bad Punjabis").

@TK AND @hamidwattoo
Thnx for yr uncleared respons to Hamid Watto!!My request is to you that you should not impose your identity politics idea when you are himself not clear about that!This is very much clear that LAK was the only Muhajir who was being taunted un ethically by Daultanas and Mamdots of Punjab and finally he was murdered!There was no connection no linkage at all b/w this great leader and the present MQM.
MQM was started for your kind consideration from a talba tanzeem (AMPSO) and now they have stepped down from the identity politics by having a Mutaheda Qaumi Movement.
You said "but I’m just trying to understand the issues by making assertions and then learning from people’s responses — I’m no expert..)
If this is the case then don't be judgemental in your views.
LAK was the greatest Patriot of Pakistan !!what THEY did with him.

@hamidwattoo: I'm not going to get entangled in this, and maybe you can elaborate on the mamdot/daultana connection if you like. I only see one thing. A MASSIVE influx of indian migrants (UP/Bihar) into Karachi.. Why?

Why weren't they settled in multiple areas of Pakistan instead of concentrating in two cities of Sindh? Why Karachi especially? Karachi was a small city (certainly no fishing village like some people like to pretend, Karachi had public transport system etc.)

Karachi was going to be the capital of the country. This is my reasoning that the population influx was allowed as a "last line of defence" ... anyways.. this is my own theory and maybe you can correct this.

The 80's phenonmenon is the result of the BREAKDOWN of the earlier strategy of covert control through identity politics.. (I have had posts on this long before .. and I was accused of various things.. but I'm just trying to understand the issues by making assertions and then learning from people's responses -- I'm no expert..)

I want to hear about mamdot's and daultana's and how that ties into LAK ? maybe that is what I have heard and attributed to L.A.K ?? thx.

@TK
Sir, would you elaborate more on how and why "various UP based politicians (Liaqat Ali Khan I think) tried to create lifelong constituencies by creating ghettos in Karachi". I thought MQM or the mindset behind it was a phenomenon of the 80s but your stating that it started all the way from Liaquat Ali Khan is new to me. Do you want to suggest that Liaquat Ali Khan also fell to the level of constituency politics. Wasn't he above all this? Didn't he consider the whole of Pakistan his constitutency? If he was so obsessed with this, why on earth he thought of moving to Pakistan, leaving a huge estate or what you call a constituency back in India. Secondly, if ever such thoughts crossed his minds, what role the Daultanas and Mamdots of Punjab had to play in it. Please respond
