@ Gul
While I do not contest your judgment declaring Gen Talat Maood "an ordinary and mediocre analyst" because opinions vary from person to person, I would request you to show me at least one instance or one article written by Gen Talat Masood in favour of Musharraf or his style of politics during the last two or three years. I have also followed him very closely and unlike you, I have always found him to be anti-Musharraf at least for the last two or three years (don't go far back because then everybody, even our Imran, was waiting to discover a messiah in Musharraf). Remember, Gen Talat was one of the signatories to the first-ever letter written by members of civil society calling Musharraf to doff his uniform. That was in July 2006. Just follow this link to read up a BBC's take on that letter.

The story also contains references to Talat Masood. Check his tone and tenor and see whether the man has been a die-hard Musharraf's fan or a man different from your perceptions.

@Muhammad Hanif Gul: I think this is an interesting ide.. more like a Gerry Springer for Political & Social issue..

I think this is a brilliant idea.. I thinke they should do a Live Bolta Pakistan with a cross section of people 40 or so and then have a few of them sitting on stage and have the audience ask questions.. that would be interesting!

I have always regarded Gen Talat as very ordinary and mediocre analyst. His loyalties are surely with the establishment and occasionaly he toe a different line to maintain his credibility. But this is not the point. I am astonished at the media persons is it the generals, politicians and journalists who are the only intelligent analysts? Dont u think, ordinary lawyers, academicians, and distinguished students are equally intelligent to express their views on national issues? Would not it bring fresh insights in to ongoin debate? Why is it so that in the nation of 160 millions there are just few dozen people who are speaking on behalf of nations on more than thirty channels? I think, media should invite persons from civil society even the illiterate one to discuss on issues. We may not like the perspective of illiterate, but there is no harm to have such people for a change. However, the involvements of academicians and students and civil society is sine qua non for objective analysis and consensus building.
