But more seriously, I think the first article hit the “type” question right on.. I am willing to overlook the ‘racism’ inherent in it if the whole piece sounds more coherent (look who am talking!) as compared to the second piece which indeed sounds more like Diamondcut & Hashtnagar on a drive-by mission, if only the punjabi version of that.

I don’t know much about jungian analysis, but I still feel like saying that the first dood tried to tap into the whole ‘type system’ as/if/when applied to a whole ‘race’.. personally, I think Punjabi is more of a ‘type’ now (Pak-Punjabi, as the two types pak vs Ind have diverged IMO) than a race, precisely because of all that ‘insemination’ that’s been happening over the millenia.. the invaders come and go, but Punjabi ‘the type’ stays.

Maybe _that_ non-challant ‘passive male’ attribute of the type is actually the secret to “the punjabi type’s” survival?

I think Nawaz Sharif’s (and consequently PML-N’s) stances of late (bouts of “baRkaaN” and then “talKh ghooNT” .. one after the other) can be explained (to a tee) by the following, almost formulaic description of the ‘Type’:

I don’t have a pet theory on why South Italians are behind North Italians. I read somewhere that it has to do with all the Papal wars being fought in peninsular Italy while North Italy developed the classical Renaissance city states like Genoa, Venice and Milan which were Republics. The popes and their wars sunk them, their literature and their universities. The North Italians had de Medici, Michelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci etc. while the South had the Sicilian Mafia, Papal wars and overdoses of religion.

Haven’t studied it in detail though but I tend to think that’s the reason.
