Government makes deals on allowing Islamic law in Malakand and Swat
Pakistan’s government agreed to let judges consider advice from Islamic scholars in court cases in parts of the volatile tribal regions of the northwest, officials said Tuesday.
The decision marked a concession in peace talks aimed at ending conflict with Islamic militants along the frontier with Afghanistan, in a new approach brought by the recently elected government led by parties opposed to U.S.-backed President Pervez Musharraf.

hi all,
Finally after all the blood shed ,demainds of the people of malakand and hazara being honoured.ANP has started well despite visits of Mr.Asfandyar to USA.basically,thats what democracy is,letting people deciede what system they wanna live in.
hope things get settled in that area and al over Pakistan.
What is islamic law specially for Malakand and Swat? Is this Islam a something special which other country dont have?????
I think there is no new laws implementation in the effected area, they have just reassure that the laws that were to be implemented in 1994 and 99 should be actively implemented. Yes these laws were necessary because these areas were govern according to the cruel laws of WALI SWAT rules. Also these new laws shows the will of the people of those area. It is just like as PM has announced that there should be changes to the OLD and cruel law FCR in the FATA region that was implemented by the Cruel British Raj to govern those brave tribal people.
I welcome this change but it should be done with the concenses of local people.
Islamic Law should be for whole of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Musharraf kafir needs to be stoned to death for his crimes against Pakistan.

You cannot make deals with these people under the shadow of their guns. They are a nuisance to the whole civilised world. You give them an inch and they’ll take a yard! We should not concede them a single cent - There is only one way to deal with a challenge to the writ of the state: By force.
“Deals” if any must be done within the political space only after the writ has been established. The world is watching the gradual failure of the Pakistani state to establish writ over its own territory. Missile strikes like the one at Damadola are a consequence, not a cause of this failure. We can expect more interventions if we don’t or can’t put our house in order.

let me add to what u really wanted to say.. “kill them all”… let me tell u something… what you are suggesting Mr-inspired-by-dictators is called Ethnic cleansing… these ppl lived in harmony for so long with us.. its the ppl like u and the liberal fascists and army dictators who pushed these ppl over the edge… Let Them Be… let them stay in their valleys they never crossed… world has seen it in Bosnia.. dont let our four-star-army-clerks repeat the same mistake… for u i can say one thing.. i am just wonderin why cant we have islamic law in whole pakistan, why these people had to fight to get islamic law in a country which calls itself islamic republic of pakistan.
as far as i can remember in school when i was taught pakistan studies i was told that was the whole point of getting our own country so we can have islamic system in which we can live with full freedom within our religious boundaries.

i dont think the call was for an Islamic State….the call was for a seperate homeland for moslems…
deviating pakistan was the precedence for the creation of Israel.

seperate homeland for muslims to do what?? to watch mujra of nargis, this could have been achieved in india at much lower cost.

modern secular muslim state, so u are saying jinnah and mush share same ideology of roshaan kyali and being moderate/modern as far as i remember jinnah never associated word secular with pakistan.
i am gona study now, need to work on my exam.
