Admin, will you be uploading special episode of Bolta Pakistan today?
May 26th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
I hope the “CORPSe” commander Jamshed Kayani will learn from his other two colleagues that you have to change your drill master attitude while talking on a public forum. The audiences here are not the canned cooked brains of PMA with tunnel vision. Anyway, we welcome his passion if his elevated level of fury is after the dictator Mush.

@admin
is that free version?

LOL….
Another bunch of Generals who were not given a share of pie and they turned against Musharaff. Every 1 knows about:
Gen.(r) Talat Masood: a Pro establishment soldier turned bureaucrat who ran public office and then became close to Washington lobby due to his intellectual capital Pakistan army knowledge. He was a well known person among American Think Tanks AKA Neocons and now at this age of 70 …. he has realized that Oh..! I need to do my patriotic duty……………….. !
Gen. (r) Jamshed Kayani: Former Chairman Federal Public Service Commission…. AKA another high ranking Public Job……… turned against Musharaff because he didnt give extension to him as compared to other Generals…… !!!
Gen. (r) Asad Durrani:…… Well every 1 knows him and his black ISI “kartoot”…. there was a whole episode from Dr. Shahid Masood about him, Rehman Malik and Hussain Haqani…. This General was also close to Boston Lobby……and still remains….
So …………. Dnt think these are some “GOOD GENERALS”…. these are just bad apples that Musharaff …………….aka….. “AMERICA’S HANUMAN” …..threw away .

@kinnare
You are right, but the list is too short….now it is becoming a full chargeshet to court marshal all the faugi/ military sinners and create some rememberable examples.
Here is how we can go forward:
1. First step is to bring whole the military under secratry defence level & rehabilitate top Genrals & “core commander mafia” to behave. Same is true for MI, ISI & likes.
2. Matter of military made trasparent, accessible by public courts, their budget discussed in Parliment, Media and Public. They return what they robbed from people of Pakistan. No prallel system. They shall no more be “holy cow” but open for criticism.
3. Third step shall be a truth and justice tribunal for all the military indulgment in masacreing and torturing people of Pakistan, supporting foreign interest, corruption, mis-management etc since 1947.
We need to make remeberable examples from dead or alive “military mafia” such that it gets carved both in the minds of faugis and people of Pakistan.
Of course we need an independent and couragious judisiary for this.

@kinnare, @riddle,
BB was on record of having cordial and respectful relations with General Talat Messoud, you dont think that’s reason enough for him to be spared of baseless diatribes? making blanket statements about the army and generals only serves to taint the entire body as systemically evil, when clearly that is not the case. Remember each is worth is own salt. Gen. Talat should be accorded respect in the manner that he gives, and honestly, you know, he’s done a better job at defending your own BB, than most of her own “trusted party jiyalas”.

all these retired generals and military officers become democrats after thier retirements, but when they are in service ,they were involved in conciparicies against democracy and country shame on all over generals and establishment
May 27th, 2008 at 12:32 am
go mush go, please leave this nation alone
May 27th, 2008 at 1:33 am
Superb program!
Talat, if you read this forum you must have a 1-hour program on the issue you, Gen Gulzar and Gen Asad touched on i.e., Loyalty of Servicemen, to the COAS or the Constitution.
May 27th, 2008 at 1:38 am
Can someone post the email of Talat Hussain, thanks!
May 27th, 2008 at 1:42 am
Shame on these ex-generals. Where they were for the last 8 years. Now they all are shouting against a weak man: Musharraf, who let Zardari have looted wealth, have Sharifs go free with all corruption charges, and let many politicians go free of looted wealth because of NRO. I am trying to make a point that all these politicians are not doing anything for the betterment of the country, rather they are busy on revenge. Pakistan needs Economic Development and people need basic needs to be fulfilled which these non-visionaries can not do. This is Pakistani military and take great example of China where Military & Civil jointly run the country. Out of 1100 legislatures why we can nopt offer Military few for the betterment of country. This is foreign agenda to confront military with civil. Our politicians are wrong, instead of focusing on poor man they are focusing on themselves. They will damage the country. TIME WILL TELL.
May 27th, 2008 at 1:47 am
To the critics of these generals, I don’t say they are angels but they are honorable and patriotic men.
Haven’t you heard the song, Aik Sala General Sari Fauj ko Hajera Bana Daita Hai.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=EHAQMPOAnIU
BTW, did you guys notice how at the end Gulzar Kiyani jumped out of his chair to say Army has no role in politics in the future. Gen Asad finished it off beautifully saying the generation that has seen Mush and the last 8 years will never venture into politics, not even in their dreams.
May 27th, 2008 at 1:48 am
These jurnails are still FuQQed in the head! They still don’t have a plan.. they’re just venting against him.. but had NO ANSWER for Talat when he asked how they were going to re-habilitate the current crop of Army officers.
And that lal-mirchi guy was like.. AWDDURR IZZ DEE AWDDURR !!!
JTFC!!!
Talat also stumped them with his “Do they take oath to the COAS or to the constitution?” question!!!
The basic MINDFUQQ that our military academy is inflicting upon these people is that these people NEVER think in terms of loyalty to the Republic or to the Constitution.. When they say Pakistan, they think THEMSELVES! or their DEFENSE PROPERTIES!.. never ever ever the Constitution or the Republic of Pakistan..
The People of Pakistan are the farthest from their minds it seems. I think they think of us as their “Batmen”
May 27th, 2008 at 1:51 am
The question is about their oath, to the COAS or to the constitution. There needs to be a long and lenghty debae over this both in media and in the parliament.
The services act needs to be amended to remove any ambiguities. Theor should also be constitutional studies in Kakool taught by CJ IMC, Fakhruddin G Ebrahim and Aitzaz Ahsan.
May 27th, 2008 at 1:52 am
… and I forgot to mention Ali Ahmad Kurd.

Sorry bro, I gotta disagree with you on this. Talat raised a really scary prospect .. a whole generation of tigers has “tasted blood” as it were.. and the answers from these 900-Choohay jurnails are platitudes!
Right now the next tyrant is 40 years old, is a Colonel in the Pak Army and is thinking Moshe is the greatest thing since sliced bread.. or maybe he’s thinking Islam should have been implemented with much more vigor (ie; Zia was a pu$$y mindset).
The problem is very real.. the Army has real interests, they are in too many things.. they have become another exploitative class and NO exploitative class gives up it’s position of power.. NONE of these jurnails even considered the prospect of re-educating the current crop of officers. One guy deflected the question and got defensive, the other one basically said something that makes a nice soundbite and everyone can finish the talk at a lighter note, but it is not based in reality.
It’s like saying how are you going to reform these 14 year olds who have been in the most notorious prison for 4 years? and the officers say.. oh well.. they’ve seen such bad things here.. THEY would NEVVVVUR do anything that would bring them back here! ..
These jurnails are motivated by something other than changing the system. Talat kept probing them and they kept skirting the issue of a Systemic Problem with the Officer’s Class in particular and the Pakistan Army in general.
These people are no visionaries..
May 27th, 2008 at 2:02 am
TK,
I said what I said in jest.
Even if you buy Gen Asad’s argument, the issue is not the current generation of generals staying of politics, but the army staying out of politics in the future.
It was a great program though, Talat poked at the weaknesses of the army culture and institution that lets renegade generals hijack the army and the system.
There needs to be a thorough debate on these issues in schools, media and in the parliament. I’d even dedicate a whole month for debates on this in schools.
May 27th, 2008 at 2:03 am
and I agree with your fears and apprehensions.
May 27th, 2008 at 2:06 am
To out it briefly, kuttay kay moon’h ko khoon laga gaya hai.
PPP leadership has wasted the honeymoon period. The only way to control the army is to take over their budget. PPP and PMLN could’ve done this right after Feb 18.
May 27th, 2008 at 2:09 am
@Kruman: oops hehe..
IMO this is an entrenched culture and just by changing the wording won’t help much as these people are used to pissing on their oaths the first chance they get. I think what we really need is a complete overhaul of the education system in our military academies and this needs to be drilled into our children as well..
our enemies have done a wonderful job of getting history and civics out of our syllabuses… and they have distracted us by “Islaami yaa Ghair Islaami” debates as they nurtured these thieves in their academies and told us “look, how nice we are! we’re training your police and army for you!
Our major problem is the collapse of our education system (IMO) because that system generates MENTAL INVALIDS who go into judiciary, politics, The army.. you name it.
I agree with your sentiment of talking about democracy and these other issues in schools!
May 27th, 2008 at 2:57 am
Talat Hussain is the best. Always asks the right questions. Very impressive. His last line of questions was the crux of the matter.
It amazes me how a nation with such thoughtful and intelligent people around gets bogged down by second rate fools like Musharaff and Zia-ul-Haq.
May 27th, 2008 at 3:04 am
Perhaps this memorable quote describes Musharaffs and Zia-ul-Haqs of our country better :
“Fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.”
- Bertrand Russell-
May 27th, 2008 at 3:34 am
Gen Talat Masood always reminds me of this guy.
The description is spot on: Gen Talat has no skeleton; his body has a system of fluid-filled bladders instead of bones. His skin can also change colors to blend in with his surroundings like a chameleon though he has some difficulty controlling it
May 27th, 2008 at 3:46 am
@Upbeat: (not to be a pedant or anything.. but I also like that quote and found it along with another one that describes our situation well)
“The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.”
-Bertrand Russell
“Success in almost any field depends more on energy and drive than it does on intelligence. This explains why we have so many stupid leaders.”
-Sloan Wilson
@mbokhari: I would have also considered “Maj. General” Rashid Q as “Kif” to Moshe’s Zapp Brannigan .. but now that you mention it.. Gen. Talat Masood does look eerily like Kif !!!
May 27th, 2008 at 4:18 am
@TK
Reminded me of one of my most favorite short poems:
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
- “The Second Coming” by W.B.Yeats
The whole poem here.

Excellent program. Talat rocks. I think no one else can raise these questions except Talat. He is really genious
May 27th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
ye sahe hai…after destroying everything and making millions of dollars and enjoying life these guys are clamoring for democracy…kya baat hai
May 27th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
i think any body who talks sense at any part of his life should be appreciated
May 27th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
Talat was great as usual. I also appreciate the move taken by these retd generals and others army retd. ranking officers and common men. I give them credit for their courage to come out for truth at this stage. This will help lawyers movement to work more aggressively TO KICK MUSH OUT.
CJ IMC STANDING UP AGAINST THE DICTATOR ON MARCH 9TH. REALLY WORKED A GREAT DEAL IN THE HISTORY AND FUTURE OF PAKISTAN.
UNITED WE STAND
DIVIDED WE FALL
May 27th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
Hasan Nisar wrote an article in jang newspaper about this x-service men group. He mentioned a policy in Pakistan in which people say “hisaab doh ya heesah doh”, so these are the people who couldnt get any thing and now they after a long time they woke-up to talk against Mush.
I would ask them where were they before, even when he ordered to kill innocent students in red mosque?
May 27th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
mush has one slogan .. “ezaat aaney jaaney shaa hai, bandah dheedthe hoona chaaheeyeh”
May 28th, 2008 at 12:26 am
great programme. atleast retarded generals tried to do something for the face saving of army.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:32 am
even the generals are blaming the americans.. thats just sad
May 28th, 2008 at 5:57 am
army would never give up power…those who do not realize that are fooling themselves
May 29th, 2008 at 2:33 am
Talat is a star. Great show.
