PPP is trying to fool the lawyers and nation with the constitutional package. I hope NS throws it on AZ’s face.

It is just a facade to divert attention from the long march.

The problem is not Mush, it is PPP. Musharraf is hiding behind AZ and Gillani. All their BS against the dictator is only meant to take the steam out of the lawyers’ movement.

The worst enemy of Pakistan today is AZ. Today PPP has announced a package only to divert attention from the lawyers’ long march. I hope NS rips it into pieces, and I think he will. He understands AZ quite well now.

Dacoits and Thugs for AZ is a a new grassroots party that has been formed in the prisons of Pakistan. These dacoits and thugs say AZ is their hero, he plundered $2 billion and got away with it.

These people will form the new cadre of ZPP jiyalas.

Whatever has been expressed above is ABSOLUTELY, correct.

I do not have an access to any political big-wig or a kingpin, like Nawaz Sharif,
etc; nor to any high-profile lawyer, like Aitzaz Ahsan, Ali Ahmed Kurd or Munir Malik, etc; as otherwise I wanted to convey to them, my humble suggestions, as follows : -

NOW is the TIME RIPE, to make the ‘ powers-that-be ‘ to listen to the demands of the public through these kingpins.

But HOW ? By NOT . . . .ONLY. . . . . . . marching from Karachi to Khyber in this hot summer heat, alone. BUT to be really effective, I suggest ( ONLY a suggestion, please, ) that these & other leaders should publicly ANNOUNCE in 10 June 08, that all the NATION, SHOULD STOP CONTRIBUTING, a single paisa to the National Exchequer, FOR ONLY THREE MONTHS, & as follows ; -

    1. TO stop payment of any kind of Taxes, etc ; Utility bills, etc; to the Govt,( by the proceeds of which, it further makes payments, of pay & allowances, expenses to run their affairs, & to the Defense Forces, National Police, Para-Military Forces, & to the staff of the civil govt.

    2) Thus, what Mahatama Gandhi is ‘ said ‘ to have done, before the partition of India, to ‘ make ‘ the British rulersRUN AWAY:IT CAN SIMILARLY BE ACHIEVED in the same manner through, a Civil Disobedience / Non-Cooperation Movement.

    3) Thus there is NO NEED to come on-to-the-streets, to be beaten-blue by police batons, or to be shot dead by OWN army & para-military forces !

IS IT NOT WORTH TRYING ? Just a suggestion please !

Can anybody, reading this suggestion, & who has ACCESS to such leaders as mentioned above, to please REVERT BACK, whether it was passed on to them, or whether the appreciated it or not !

Why I strongly feel that the TIME is RIPE, NOW, is BECAUSE whole of the civil
society is ready to march shoulder to shoulder, from Karachi to Khyber on 10 June 08, & they will, WILLINGLY LISTEN to these leaders, who may have the GUTS to do so.

otherwise I am afraid the nation should be PREPARED to face a BLOODY REVOLUTION, which the national, print & electronic media is CRYING HOARSE, since montsh, NOW.

Great suggestion, but if it is really implemented it will disable the entire state structure and the napak army will get another pretext to do Meray aziz hum watano. Lawyers dont want a full scale confrontation with PPP-mush camp, but then again confrontation seems inevitable now. PPP is exposed now, the lawyers should stop talking in riddles and point all fingers at PPP for the pro-longed imbroglio.

    STAND FOR ISLAM

This short video presentation outlines the array of attacks on Islam from western media, politicians and commentators. These are part of a smear campaign to malign Islam and Muslims. The attacks betray secularism’s xenophobic attitudes and supremacist mind-set - their exact accusations against Islam.

secularism’s xenophobic attitude? dude …atleast identify who your enemy is correctly…if an apple sins against you….you dont go about saying this shows that all oranges are against you…

perhaps you have a thing against jinnah too? since most people wearing suits and ties are capitalist pigs…therefore all people wearing suits and ties are capitalist pigs…this logic is mind boggling…and myopic to say the least.

    @snrctzn
Your sentiments and suggestion are worth praising and respecting. They can even be aired to the leaders you mentioned. Howerver with due respect let me say something.
It is usually very easy to assume that
    1. The leaders are usually dumb , they have no brains , they hear only to their advisors (who have vested interests and don’t tell them the truth) , they (leaders) are corrupt and have their own vested interests.

    2. At the same time we also assume that we (talking about myself at least) are most intelligent person, we know everything and have the solution to all the ills in the country , we also believe that we can see into the future and if the world acts according to our wishes than everything will turn out as we have wished.

You would see that most of our advisories to these leaders are based on above assumptions. And strangely the assumption one is true for the dictators , they are broght up in army mess , have much lesser intellect than people like yourself , they have no connections with people of Pakistan , they really act on the advice of their advisors who “only” have vested interests and these dictators really are corrupt.

Since our assumption number 1 is true for the military dictators therefore it must also be true for other leaders as well. Isn’t it?

However I personally would say that we need to trust our leaders , they are fighting the battle for us , I don’t say you trust every leader but trust your own leader may it be CJ IMC, NS , AZ or IK. I think all of them have more than an average intellect , and know perhaps little more than us about the realities and they are in touch with people of Pakistan.

Let me clarify that it does not mean at all that we should not raise our voice or advise these leaders that is how they come to know about our sentiments. Only thing is that if our advice is not heeded than it doesn’t mean we are right and they are wrong :)

    P. S. Apologies though I picked your remark to explain something which may actually not apply to your remarks at all.

With reference to the 70 points constitutional package , as they are cleaning up the whole mess in constitution created by the dictators , I would like to propose one amendment also.
The method of amending the constitution should be amended such that change in any clause of the constitution should be taken as a separate amendment for which a separate bill should be required. At the moment a single bill can be brought up by the parliament , in that bill several articles can be amended in one go. Since all the amendments are bundled into single bill therefore people have to reject or accept the whole bill. After the amendment in order to amend any article of the constitution a separate bill would be required.
Hope someone from Farooq Naik’s team is reading this… or may be PML-N propose this to AZ.

the problem of ur leaders is when they are in trouble or in prison, they are humble and straightforword but as they are released , they start beating about the boasts. they start bla bla bla and foolishness, they become proudy and again start thinking that thier TITANIC will never sink .if all authorities from stupid president are shifted to the prime minister then no one will be able to stop the unbriddled horses, like zardari, n shreef others, PHATTO , MAJA , KAMYAR ect.

prime minister like GEELANI is supposed to do something being a prime minister but it looks as if he does not exist in pakistan. whan has he done so far being a pak prime minister ? he is even worst than shokat aziz. shifting the all laws and authorities from presidency to prime minister is a shifting to the zardari actually. who can give the guaranttee of mr zardari on this earth. he was curropt, he is curropt and he will remain curropt along with rehman malik ect. to stop the unbriddled politions i will oppose shifting the power from president to prime minister. ppp is doing just for this purpose that when all power is shifted to prime minister (zardari) then they will decorate the battle field for the pmln and no one will be able to stop or make a hinderence in thier stupid and behooda actions.

chief justice will be restored but he will nat do anything . he will be grabbed all power and no one will be on the earth or pak who can do any action against anybody who will be in power. and finally KIYANI would love to come and say , MERE AZIZ HAM-WATNO. bla bla bla bla……… he would also like to visit and enjoy world tours and reception from the world. like stupid mushraff,,,,,,,,,so who will be the president of pak next.

even if we will get redeem from this lanti musharaf, in the next step we will be looking someone who can make us get redeem from this be-zameer- be-dil, behooda, jhooti, makkar, ppp zalim pmln lanti qatil league THE BEASTS, ( mqm),,,,,,,,,,,,,,, it is my prophecy.

This critique of journalism in Pakistan is long on verbosity and short on arguments. What the Pakistani news channels purvey as news is what gets into a news package of any media organisation that caters to a local audience or community. Based in London, can Wusatullah Khan tell us what issues get bruited about in British newspapers, especially the tabloids and the free papers like Metro, The London Paper and the London Lite. Criticising Pakistani channels for reporting fire incidents or the activities of deposed judges and not giving a perspective on global media trends which have emerged out of a cut-throat competition motivated by corporate/commericial interests is showing only one side of the picture which hardly serves the cause of objectivity and professionalism.

    @ EVERYBODY,

can anybody tell me , what GEELANI will do when all power will be shifted to him from the president, or can he use hi powers for the betterment of the nation. will the power be given to prime minister instead of zardari ? originaly ? bcz what we have seen so far in the period of stupid geelani is that he can not even eat with his own free will.

i think the power will be used be geelani but geelani SHALL be used be zardari.. in this way zaradri will decorate the battle field for the pmln in country after the process of shifting is completed. this is calle HORSE TRADING. as zardari is has become to used to deal , eat, live with horses so his cabinet is contains on horses like rehman malik, farooq h nike, ect..

i want to know something about geelani sab, what can he do and what will he do ? is he less worst than shokat aziz or more ???????

??? ??? ???? i think geelani sab can give roti kapra or makan to only those people whose wife or husband will commit suicide. when 2,3 members of someone,s family dye , then geelani sab wil go in his house and pay him or her a chek to buy rotti, kapra or makan,,ect….

this is the good, new , distinguish, modern, quick and real way or method to feed the nation, help the nation or rule the nation ………….

From the NYT piece on Aitezaz Ahsan (already linked to): “The Lawyer’s Crusade”

    On PPP and Zardari:

“Beyond that, he recognized that the P.P.P. was itself a feudal and only marginally democratic body led by a figure accused of corruption and violence. Zardari, Ahsan told me flatly, “doesn’t want independent judges. He wants dependent judges.”

The article on US hypocrisy Re: the Support of Democracy in Pakistan:

Almost everyone I met in Pakistan asked me some version of the question, “Why is America against Pakistan’s democracy?” It wasn’t easy to come up with a good answer. President Bush had, after all, grandly declared in his second inaugural address that the United States would “seek and support the growth of democratic movements and institutions in every nation and culture.” A mass movement seeking the return of constitutional rule in an Islamic nation would seem to be the answer to the president’s clarion call. And yet the Bush administration had neither publicly nor privately backed the movement to restore the judiciary. American officials offer several explanations. “It’s a sequencing issue,” one senior official explains: Musharraf was to be carefully coaxed to make concessions he could live with, like inviting Benazir Bhutto back from exile and ultimately holding democratic elections. Musharraf could not live with Chaudhry, whose very name induced a fit of spleen. “We didn’t want to see Musharraf humiliated,” as this official, who requested anonymity because she was not authorized to discuss policy formation, says. And the administration feared triggering any process that might lead to the ouster of the general, who had proved willing to wage the war on terror on American terms. Another way of looking at it was that the imperative of the war on terror had trumped the imperative of democracy promotion.

On the American ambassador’s behavriour re: the Judiciary and CJ:

Tariq Mahmood told me that when Anne Patterson, the U.S. ambassador to Pakistan, obliquely suggested to him that an opening might be found for Chaudhry somewhere in the international bureaucracy, he found himself wondering whether he was being asked to offer a bribe to the chief justice of Pakistan. (Patterson declined to comment.) Mahmood told me he described the five-month-long detention of Chaudhry and his family — for which no legal order had been issued — and asked, “Madame, can you conceive as an American that this could happen in your country?” The lawyers were insisting on democratic principles in the face of American realpolitik.

“Ahsan is almost recklessly outspoken about P.P.P. leaders, even though they are his own political patrons. He speaks admiringly of Benazir Bhutto’s courage and steadfastness but also points out with disdain that she viewed herself as the P.P.P.’s “life chairperson.” And he does not bother to conceal his dim view of Zardari. In the car, as we drove back through the night to Lahore, I asked him how many of the allegations of corruption he believed were justified. “Most of them,” Ahsan said, after a moment’s reflection. “The type of expenses that she had and he has are not from sources of income that can be lawfully explained and accounted for.” …

Anyways, on the way to work just now ran into YRG leaving his home in Defence. I happened to to the first one the police stopped.

They ordered me to move my car back. I refused and told them to fvck off. I said I thought this b@stard was a popular elected leader so what was he afraid of? They ordered me to move back again. Again I refused and said tell the bastard I am not going to do anything to him for I know he is a nobody who takes orders from Mush and Zardari. One of the policeman complained he hadn’t had decent sleep in three days. Two others were poing their weapons right at me and i told them they should have enough sense not to point their weapons directly at people. They shook their head in agreement and pointed them away. Then the motorcade came and I counted 31 police pickups and suvs, 3 motorcycles, an ambulance and a fire truck accompanying two Mercedes’ (?) and one of the police guys himself said “Getting this protocol no wonder they don’t want to leave the ‘Kursi’!” And I said “I am sure he can feel the pain of the poor driving around like this. What is the difference between him and that MOFO Mush?” As the motorcade was still passing I recited “President Harami/PM Gilani/Speaker Zanani…” and saw all of the policemen were laughing….

Good to hear that you can actually tell the policemen to **** off , and insist on your right to go first. And great here that policemen were actually laughing when you cursed YRG , remember this is what is needed , this is only the first step towards realization of your basic rights. With the pessage of time , people will start taking this kind of protest seriously , there will be a time when you will actually be able to go to the court to sue the prime minister/government for compensation for being delayed. At that time you will rather be less furstrated and more somber while talking to these policemen , and those policemen will be more respectful towards you. Everything is going to happen sooner rather than later.

I can appericiate your hatred (or perhaps furstration) against AZ and PPP, it is quite natural. We have been programmed to hate politicians and at the same time love them. We love one politician and hate the other, I don’t see any problem in that.

Someone asked me “Has my optimism vindicated?” Well if Aitzaz is leading the civil society/lawyers movement, NS is representing anti-establishement forces , Asif Zardari is the chief commander of the battle against establishment , what more I need to be optmist?.

The reason for consitutional amendment is NRO. Zardari wants that NRO should be given consitutional cover first and then he would be ready to reinstate Iftikhar Chaudhry. PMLN has reportedly agreed to that.

Americans dont want Musharraf to be out and have threatened Pakistan Army against dumping Musharraf with dire consequences including that of derailing the economy and they are doing it.

They want to use Pakistan Army for two purposes - firstly to create similar problems in FATA in pursuit of Al Qaeda and secondly to use bases in Pakistan to attack Iran.

Thats why there is muted resistance to American interference. Army is behind Musharraf and Kiyani knows that. He has been told that he has to behave otherwise he would have to go instead of Musharraf.

The Daily Times, Wednesday, 30 July 2003

    Who strangled Miss Jinnah?

This is the ‘Year of Fatima Jinnah’ In Pakistan. A former bodyguard of Miss Jinnah (1893-1967) announced to the world on January 11: “To pay homage to the younger sister of the founder of Pakistan as a crusader for democracy, we will remember her by celebrating 2003 as the Year of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah”. The bodyguard is one Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali. He still looks the part. And he happens to be Pakistan’s prime minister.

Just when you started snoozing, listening to the same old speeches on Miss Jinnah, out came the shocking news last week that she may have been murdered. Madar-i-Millat (Mother of the Nation) murdered! “Former attorney general of Pakistan and ‘honorary’ secretary of the Quaid-i-Azam from 1941 to 1944, Mr Sharifuddin Pirzada, has revealed outside a conference-room in Islamabad that Miss Fatima Jinnah did not die a natural death in 1967 but was probably murdered by a servant of hers,” (Daily Times editorial, Out with the truth about Miss Jinnah, July 23, 2003).

Pakistani commentators seem ‘astounded’ by the ‘strange’ claims and ‘rumours’ spread by Pirzada (The News, editorial, July 23, 2003). Let us not forget that Pirzada is Prime Minister Jamali’s senior advisor, and that Jamali is the one who declared this as the Year of Fatima Jinnah. There may be some wisdom in letting the full story of Miss Jinnah’s death come out in the year dedicated to her memory. As the Daily Times editorial put it, “Let the truth about the death of Miss Jinnah be known after proper investigation of the claim made by Mr Pirzada and let us put the case to rest once and for all”.

The story about Miss Jinnah’s death is not a new one. Below is an extract from an earlier Cam Diary. “Jinnah’s sister had the habit of locking her bedroom door and leaving the keys under the door in the morning for the housemaid to enter and attend to her. On the tragic day there were no keys and the door remained shut. Nobody dared enter. As a very close friend of Jinnah and Fatima, MAH Ispahani was called to the house.

“MAH entered the room and found Fatima dead. It is reported that Fatima had been strangled! There were strangulation marks on her neck. This was apparently hushed up at the time by Ayub’s military regime. It will be remembered that Fatima was standing as presidential candidate against Ayub. Was she a sufficient threat to the military for her to be got rid of in such a brutal way? Shocking if true.”

Masud Akhtar Shaikh writes in his recent column in The News (Political murders: a bloodstained tradition?) that Pirzada’s story ‘does lend conviction to the hypothesis that Miss Jinnah was a victim of political murder and did not die a natural death’ and that the manner of the cover-up ‘shows a definite link between the high-ups in the Ayub Khan regime and the crime.’

Qutbuddin Aziz, a former diplomat has dismissed Pirzada’s claim. The News reported last week that “He (Aziz) said Fatima Jinnah died in the morning of July 9,1967 and he along with his mother reached Mohatta Palace around 9 am. He said there was a red mark on the neck of Fatima Jinnah but not a cut or signs of bleeding”.

On the Fatima-Ayub rivalry, Zamir Niazi says in his book Press in Chains, “During the crucial presidential election in 1964 when Miss Fatima Jinnah agreed to challenge Ayub Khan as a candidate of the Combined Opposition Parties, the APP coverage of the election campaign had a definite tilt in favour of the Field Marshal.”

Writing in the letters section of Dawn last week, Mahmudul Aziz of Karachi, said: “Madar-i-Millat stood up for democracy in the face of overwhelming odds. The nation remembers and adores her for that courage of conviction and the strength to stand up against a dictator at a time when most in the country feared Ayub Khan. Madar-i-Millat lost the presidential election through the manipulation of the establishment of the day…”

Of the many e-mails received on this topic last week, one was from Dr Ghulam Nabi Kazi. He says: “It is high time that the nation attains a level of maturity whereby it can come to terms with certain realities and attempt to address certain unanswered questions relating to her (Miss Jinnah’s) life… The lady was ostracized, persecuted and marginalized to a point that people had even forgotten about her existence when she decided to take on Field Marshal Ayub Khan in the 1964 presidential elections. The manner in which the elections were conducted and their unfortunate aftermath are known to all”.

Dr Kazi ponders, “What is the real truth? Will the teeming millions of Pakistan ever be considered worthy enough of being taken into confidence about these pranks played by a few chosen ones? And those naïve people amongst us who think that our Press is free should reconsider their opinion. The real truth is simply not for consumption of the ordinary mortals in Pakistan”.

In his column “Second Opinion: Why don’t people write memoirs?” (Daily Times, May 30, 2003), Khaled Ahmed noted that “Fatima Jinnah was the first to write; we had to censor her autobiography because it ‘revealed’ too much too soon in our history”. Tanwir Ahmed, wrote in a letter to the editor printed in The News, “Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada has caused tremendous grief, shock and awe to the already depressed nation. Will the people of Pakistan ever know the true history of their own nation?”

It is unlikely that the people of Pakistan will come to terms with their true history without being subjected to ‘grief, shock and awe’. And who strangled Miss Jinnah? Even if not physically throttled, she was strangled by the ‘system’. Like millions of ordinary people every day.

    — Sir Cam, Cambridge, England
