In conversation with:
Barnett R. Rubin
Director of Studies and Senior Fellow
Center on International Cooperation, New York University
Considered one of the world’s leading experts on the region’s politics, Ahmed Rashid examines the international community’s record of lost opportunities at state-building and failure to address the threats of rising Islamic extremism. While Iraq continues to attract most American media and military might, Mr. Rashid argues that Pakistan and Afghanistan pose a graver threat to global security than the Middle East.
Please note: this event will also be a free live webcast available at www.asiasociety.org. Online listeners are encouraged to email questions to moderator@asiasociety.org

i have spent a few years in that part of the world. young generation there is OK with Pakistan only if Pakistan acknowledges their unique cultural and religious identity and also declares them as a province. older generation is a different story.
