thank God, abas athar was not being stupid and childish today, like he has always been in previous programs…
I agreed you hajveri. But addition to it, in this episode Ghalib was a bull shit. He was telling abolutely wrong. “Sawal gandam jawab chana” thanks that Abas ather was saying responsible things. He was writing in his columns totaly different which he was talking before.
may be some of these old parrots like ather abbas faced criticizm and responses from viewres and they have to change their childish arguments …you cant keep on saying things which people do not wanna listen…
if you remeber Hamid Bull Mir for the time being tried to become advocate of zaradri and mqm but now he is back on track…very old Katha Totta Nusrat Javed start “Tein Tein Tein tein” of PPP but with the response from viewers and callers shut his jiayla mouth…
restoration of judges
No to Musharraf
No to zaradrai
no to NRO
I challenge Kathay Totay ather and NJ to talk openely agaisnt these issues and let us see how many days they remain on screen
its very simple media persons cannot sing a song agaisnt peoples desires..if they have so much sympathies with Mr.10 % then why not they join ppp and start talking sh*t like shery rehman , sl*t fauzia and other craps in ppp…
Media has to talk what people wanna listen…and that is:
@ ADMN
Certain programs-( FREE VERSION)- are available at once like Live with Talat June 7th but others Like Column Kaar June 7th and Meray Mutabiq June 7th are not.
Is there a reason for this in the sense that AAJ TV is dearer to ADMN’s heart or are there logistical reasons- or perhaps there is a POLITICAL ( SLANT) reason in that Talat’s program was about shooting down Musharraf.
I would like to think that ADMN DOES NOT have a political slant of any kind unlike many of the guests of the programs and the viewers-( comment writers) whose dictionary seems to lack the word called OBJECTIVITY in any form esp- when it comes to the decent .use of English language
@
shimatoree
there is a reason that why some programmes are made available immediately and some not..it is not political or logistic reason..its some sort of competition..i cant disclose more ..as my comments were deleted when i write about that reason couple of times before…
anyway competition is always good ..atleast good for us as atleast some programmes are available immediately…
i hope things will be bit clearer now…
IMO this “competition” is SILLY!
pkpolitic’s is a politics site.. NOT a video site. The main result of this “healthy competition” has been that average comment numbers have come down 2-3 fold and signal to noise ratio has gone up.
I really don’t like this … pkpolitics should position itself as the premier discussion site and not a premier video site because people will gang up on it and free vids will steal long time users away.
@
TK
agreed, but when some videos will not be uploaded after 72 hours then people will search them anywhere else…ok 24 hours rule is fair enough but why 48, 72 and 96 hours wait…
and yes all do not visit this site only for discussion they wanna see their favourite programmes…and i appreciate that PKPOLITICS doing very good job but you cant force people to wait for 24X3,4,5 hours to see one video and expect them to discuss about something which they have not seen ..
thanks
@tk: free vids will steal long time users away
umm..dont get this part..???!!
but i agree competition is silly..for pkpol., antithetical i would say.
contd…
they’re fighting a losing battle.
My 2c? == make ALL video’s available immediately. Free members see 25% of the vid, premium see FULL … OR… just post MP3 and charge smaller amount per month.. because sooner or later people are bound to find out about “the other” sites… you can’t keep a secret for long on the web.
And for god sakes allow vid links and capture the discussion space instead of losing commentors to other sites which frankly do not have the level of debate that happens here…
but the discussions are being stifled here because pkpolitics is concerned with anciliarry things like video quality, premier vs non-premier.. pi$$ing matches with other “competitors” who offer bad quality videos .. (but do it right away)
This is bound to happen sooner or later… Personally, I know what Talat Hussain looks like, I don’t care if I see his face and moving hands everyday and pay a 100 meg premium on the download side.
An MP3 would be fine too… foster discussion and debate and capture that spot instead of trying to capture the video provider spot.. it’s the wrong strategy IMO.
and please don’t delete this comment. It is annoying.
pay to discuss what you see…is what it says..
however the cost of a red star ain’t really that much…
but tk makes a valid point…
go tk go!!
@kafka8: free vids provided by competitors.
pkpolitics is losing commentors because people are watching videos of questionable quality somewhere else much sooner and by the time there is that vid posted here the iron’s not hot anymore…
@sleepingnation: the reason there is a discrepency is because they’re in all probability short of resources (as in HUMAN BEINGS) who can post all this.. so they pick and choose based on teh noise made by users, but it has a nasty effect of turning people off and introducing making it a psychologically unpleasant experience..
I would again say stop offering videos, just offer MP3’s and charge smaller flat fee to EVERYONE … offer a 5 minute clip as a freebie. but do it on time.. because these things are time critical..
who’s gonna come back 2 days later to comment on old news? the focus ought to move from being “teh premier politics video site” to “the premier politics news and discussions site which also provides latest news”
frankly, unless it is the chairmain of CBR dancing around or Kashmala doing a little Thumka on TV, I don’t care for the video of people. It’s a waste of diskspace, time and bandwidth.
just my 2c.
“competitors” upload videos even before premium members see those on pkpolitics.. so some of premium members also visit “competitors” and say bundle of thanks to them ….yes atleaST for me quality is not important as long as i can understand the talk
anyway my sincere suggestion is that videos should be made available as per rules after 24 hours in any case..
@kafka8: or don’t bother and don’t discuss what you can’t see and go home feeling all pi$$ed off…
sound/video is the kernal around which the discussion grows which should be monetized not the offering of the video because any group of people sufficiently motivated can do exactly that.
it’s not about the video’s it’s all about the conversations (IMO) but maybe I’ve got it wrong.
@sleepingnation: I am one of those people and I feel no qualms about it.
@Everyone,
Few remarks:
- The main focus of pkpolitics is to preserve videos for the next generations and everything else is secondary. This cannot be achieved on public video hosting service and we have to look for small number of loyal visitors who can contribute towards operational costs.
- There are 15-20% of videos that are recorded, preserved and never put online due to lack to resources.
- Our video team is currently doing the videos for 8-10 hours daily. It is already very late in Pakistan when programs finish and they don’t do any free videos. I (admin) spend my free time in adding free videos.
- The reason for putting some free videos online earlier than others is only by topics and my free time. I don’t punish visitors by putting boring episodes for free and interesting episode only on premium in first 24 hours. It is very easy for me to convert premium video on pkpolitics server (amazon) to free one immediately, but that costs me $100 per video to just cover the bandwidth costs. Putting the video on blip takes costs me time (around 20 minutes per video) and I occasionally do that when some hot episode is aired even if I have to sacrifice portion of my sleep.
- We are not in competition with anyone. We stayed on top for 10 continuous month and brought nothing but free videos, but this model was not sustainable.
- The number of comments and visitors are continuously increasing and premium membership did not change anything.
- The reason for banning links from other sites is that many of them were either stealing our videos or putting comments here like “pkpolitics is shit, watch free video here …”.
Admin when is free version gona be available? I think it is more then 24 hours now.
Free version added.
preserve video ?
common @dmin
you need premier members to meet your running cost / survival and you try to preserve it for next generation ?
