ISLAMABAD: The PPP and the PML-Q, otherwise world apart and opposed to each other politically, agree that the lawyers’ long march should be defeated. Both are not only against it and staying away from the protest, they also reject it with varying degrees of vehemence.

It is too early to call PPP anti “lawyers movement”. I guarantee you, a major portion of even PML-Q would support Lawyers’ demands when brought in to the National Assembly. This is a national movement, not just a Lawyers movement. I would not count on MQM though, the diehard supporters of Musharraf for supporting Judges restoration. They have a lot at stake because of their criminal past and of most recent burning lawyers alive.
