Demonstration for Geo TV, opposite UAE embassy, against the decision to close down Geo TV in Dubai.
A large number of UK based organisations will be showing their support on Tuesday 17th June,11:00-13:00.
UAE Embassy
30 Princes Gate,
SW17 1PT
Nearest tube: Knightsbridge (Piccadily line).
This is the height of hypocrisy and audacity!
These very same friggin A**bs want to be treated equally, want freedom of speech and rights when they’re in western countries….but when it comes to their own countries….it’s nothing but friggin monarchy, despotism and dictatorship….there is not even a remote concept of freedom of speech.
DOWN WITH A**B F——G MONARCHY………..
UAE has the biggest investment in Pakistan.
You know where this protest should be?
In front of the fuqn Zardari House!!!
Did anyone bother to figure out why UAE govt developed such an issue with these two? If you want to pressure someone. Pressure Zardari. It is him and Rehman Malik (both un-elected fools) who have precipitated this.
I think it’s about time the “media organizations” pulled their heads out of their bums and realized who exactly is responsible for this. Stop wasting your energies on UAE. It is Zardari who caused this. How about a protest in front of the Pakistani embassey?
@TK…
I agree…
I fail to understand why enough critical gaze has not be put on Zardari.
Anything going wrong is put on the presidency. Of course, president is part of the problem but now so is Zaradri.
For example, when PPP shouts that decisions should be in the parliament, the next question should be so why do we have an unelected ‘interior miniser’ and head of the party making decisions taht should be made by the parliament. But anchor (wo)men hardly ask this question.
@tk
on that note…how about a long march from the UAE to the zardari house..where is it in london btw??
There is every reason to protest against the stupid Arabs from UAE and off course also against the ssssnake AZ.
GEO is considering to move their facilities to either UK or Hong Kong. IMO they should have done it after the first ban. I would also urge GEO to move to UK and not Hong Kong. In Hong Kong the GHQ might have good relations via the Chinese. In UK they will be more safe in spite of the British double standards. On home ground they will be more cautious to ban the media unless they find (read create) charges related to “terror”.
/Saqib
The most funniest part in this blockage is that our govt never say anything to particpants of shows but all time anger is spit on anchors of program or geo management. Retired Generals and ex secerataries who has particapted in such programes are openly roaming on the streets of Pakistan and enjoying all retired benefits there but problems are left for their invities.
In all this game the stupidity of UAE mangement is also very obvious who never missed any chance of pleasing the US mangement and military dictators.This in one way reveals the hollow development of modernisation which would surely be burst when it will have to come to its extreme point.UAE clearly show to world that even inspite of all modern develpoment they could not change their backward mentalities.

Dont you think it is a little late to inform people about the protest now? I was online until 12 last night and there was no such thread. Even though I brought it up about a week ago and wanted to be part of this as well.
Anyway, let’s see how many people turn up now.
Geo should ask Altaf Kalia and his mafia to come over there for protest.
He is the most beneficiary of Geo in terms of coverage.
Geo even didn’t spare the moment he was in toilet to report him
I participated last time when GEO was shut down from Dubai but won’t this time because we were betrayed after its resumption. I had to watch MQM B***d all the time.
Good luck to Geo and Kalia
don,t expect that from MQM Done altaf kalia
there governor is barking in favour musharraf these days and they are giving excuses for Busharraf….
GEO must realise that MQM is supporting this ban but i don,t understand what is there compulsion of giving so much coverage to these Black rascles ….
thousands of pakistanis live in uk they must come up in thousands as the people of pakistan did in islamabad it would be great for us
It’s there country they have a right to do what they want, if GEO has problems why don’t they just move somewhere else.
This site’s protesting has been turning into just joke.
@ TK and inbrazi
I totally agree with you on the Zardari vs Musharraf issue. And I can’t believe the press doesn’t have the guts to face Zardari, or protest him openly. But, guys, they must have a REAL good reason for not doing so.
All the others who’re calling names to arabs, shame! you know these are dictatorships and that’s the problem. Why are you being racists?
@Gul: I also don’t understand bringing the racist part into it… what does “Arab” ness have to do with this?
The fact is that this new PPP govt has changed its tune from the git-go and have started to intimidate news organizations and TV channels. Their methods are more like that of MQM (ominous intimidation by hired thugs) and less like Moshe (overt use of govt orgs like PEMRA)
No-one ever mentioned the Islamabad Incident after the Newsvan got shot at. GEO is just moving back to Pakistan like a docile obedient dog! The problem is that lawyers and other organizations are loathe to “bring this democratic setup down” but in the process illegitimate and patently UN-DEMOCRATIC elements are gaining strength.
After long and hard struggles of PPP workers, un-elected people like RM and AAZ are the ones at the helm? it really gets my goat!!! WTF is wrong with us? And what also gets my goat is that some really educated and self-described Analysts also don’t see this lack of internal democracy as a liability! Not only that, they make excuses for NOT having internal party democracy.
How can we pressure PPP to be internally democratic?
Lawyers won’t help, cuz the leadership (AA?) is beholden to some extent.
PML-N won’t help cuz they suffer from the same issue (except ‘crazies’ like Javed Hashmi)
PTI will put a handful of ghuNgniyaaN in their paak and pavittre mouths … cuz you know..
So? Who’s going to ask them to implement basic internal democracy?
We need democratic reforms inside and outside the parliament. We need to have supremacy of rule of law. We need democracy in courts (trial by jury of our peers) and MOST OF ALL in our political parties.
We should start teaching with practical democracy in schools. Each school elects a ‘student cabinet’ which elects a Student Committee Chair and the cabinet and SCC would represent student issues to school administration.
this site is turning into protest and march invitation site…
why protest against UAE when ur own dear leader asif zardari wants it to be shut down
If you want to protest then goto zardari house.
me and my friends are planning to protest outside zardari house here in emirates hill dubai ,
off course not for lawyers and geo , but for szabist dubai campus
recently he fried our experienced dean here , our dean was good and well qualified and instead of getting a personal professional
Mr.Asif Zardari hired his two daughter bakhtawar and asifa as dean and assitant dean…
can u believe it ??? since the dead of bb he has taken over every unit of szabist
first he made his sister president of szabist , now his little kids daughter are going to run institute of repute
Interesting comments. No one has realised that GEO is enormously biased against everyone other than Nawaz Shariff. It appears that they are on the pay roll of Nawaz. They have not said a word against him. Infact they want to bring peoples party down and a re-election. Even their on screen news reel is continously for Nawaz Sharief. They are abusing the freedom of press. They are not supposed to take side. They should given almost equal time to the Government and the opposition. Some of the statements and claims made by the PMLN are fabricated lies and GEO glorifies them. I only stareted watching Geo after March last year. They were good few months ago but now only working for Nawaz Shariff and his agenda. Nothing in the interest of the country. Since the Traitor General Kyani accused Pakistan of using Chemical weapon in Red Mosque and GEO aired the comment ( this can prompt UN for an investigation into Pakistan Army possesing chemical weapons and impose sanctions) GEO should behave more responsible towards the State of Pakistan. Never mind the individuals.

@bangbus: Hey why don’t you calm down and try to convey information about your protest.
This is the first time I’m hearing about his daughters becoming deans of something..
Can anyone corroborate this?
what the hell is szabist ??? Don’t you think you should give some references or links or something? this seems juicy news!
thanks for bringing it but plz calm down and let ppl know what’s going on.
here is the sabzi institute info that bangbus is talking about:
http://www.szabist-isb.edu.pk/szabist/Aboutus.asp
Why the hell is Farooq Leghari on board of directors of this? didn’t he stab BB in the face on Murtaza Bhutto murder issue?
@TK and others: Regarding the Arab Racism part….;
Calling Arab an Arab is not racist…as a matter of fact most Arabs take pride in being called Arabs. I didn’t even think of racism there…I was only referring to the prevalent monarchy and dictatorship in middle east….every other country is ruled by either military or “royal” families….have total control over media/free-speech/rights of their citizens….and specially foreigners.
The point is, 1) it doesn’t seem to bother you (or you don’t see racism) when these very same Arabs (Muslims if I may) generalize all Europeans? Americans? Indians? (or rather Jews and Hindus). And 2) The very same Arabs (Muslims if I may) when in Western Countries want Equal Rights and Free Speech while depriving their own people in their countries.
@TK
What you write is true, but sadly, not baffling anymore. You’ve explained it so well yourself. The tactics of spreading fear are totally different now, and proving far more effective than that of the previous regime. And don’t even think about pressure to internally democratize the PPP at this time. You are dreaming. I’m sorry…so sorry. Right now I don’t see light at the end of the tunnel.
@ResidentEvil: well I agree with the point that you raise about monarchy, lack of rights and social and political retardation in general, but to somehow equate it with being Arab is just indicative of some latent hostility (you said you didn’t even notice) towards Arab.
Btw, if you didn’t think it would be offensive to call them arab, why did you say A**b ??
Also, if one were to take your argument further, it would also be Okay to refer to Jewish banking cabals, Black street crime etc. etc.
I’m sure both Black and Jews like to be referred to as such but not in a derogatory context, which I still think was your intent. I happen to think it is racist and counterproductive.
@ResidentEvil
If you are refering to dictatorship/monarchy, then those are the words to use, not the ones you did use.
If arab people want freedom of speech and equality in the west or anywhere else for that matter, it is their right to do so. Just because they are subjugated in their own lands, by dictators in their own countries, does not mean they should also not be able to ask to be treated equally elsewhere. You speak as if the masses and the dictators of middle eastern countries are the same people, just because they are all arabs!
There is no justification for such language or ideas.
@Gul
“You speak as if the masses and the dictators of middle eastern countries are the same people, just because they are all arabs!

Bravo. Precisely put. True for the race of people called “Arabs” but your statement does not hold when you consider ourselves, the broader worldwide Muslim community.
What about the Khilafah turtles? Surely, they use the freedom of speech hammer in the west to club everyone who criticizes them. And within their own communities (in the West and back home), the turtles perpetuate honor killings, abuse and stifling dissent.
Recently, a favorite columnist of mine Mark Steyn was sued by some Khilafah turtles in Canada because he QUOTED a sentence from some novel about Muslims breeding like mosquitoes. The turtles moved the Human Rights Commission against him. Yet, you also see the turtles demanding that the world “Bake the Infidel”, “Microwave the heretic” and “EU, your 9/11 is on its way”
You don’t see the khilafah turtles advocating freedom of speech then.
And the very same UAE and Saudi governments fund their local crazies AS WELL AS the deranged loonies in the West.
@mbokhari
Ofcourse my arguments hold for anyone and everyone.
If certain sects or groups are hypocrites, then that’s what they are. I have no qualms in saying so. But I still support the right of crazies or fanatics to claim freedom of speech because it is a FUNDAMENTAL right.
What needs to be fought is their oppression, perpetrated via, as you say honour killings, stifling dissent etc. Again, I will strongly disagree with you if what you mean is that the broader muslim community, as a whole, is hypocritical. Unfortunately, however, this community is ‘identified’ more and more with the hypocritical stances of the fanatics.
I know that those who fund them often are dictators etc. (e.g., Zia ul Haq and the Taliban/Mujahideen…and the CIA/Israel nexus), but how does that change anything? What is wrong is wrong. Just because the crazies have double standards (which they usually do), does not mean we ditch basic principles.
oh and TK, calling an Arab a Sand Nigger? now THAT’S racist!
@TK: I didn’t…mods/admins of this forum censored it to arSTARSTARbs
@ M Bokhari: FINALLY someone gets it…..! I didn’t want to use the broader term Muslims.
@ Gul: Religion prepares the crime, Believers commit it….that’s all I have to say
And yes, muslims, by large, ARE very hypocritical.
It is completely ridiculous that the so called democratic government is doing this kind of stupid things.Of course, they can not afford the independent media as they are black sheep of corruption.I strongly condemned the policies of the government of Pakistan and the non democratic regime of United Arab Emirates . GEO in general and Capital Talk and Mere mutabik i particular are the heart beat of the people of Pakistan that can never be stopped. JEETEY RAHO GEO
@Poola
Well said, they should invite altaf gainda and his thugs to this protest. Now its pay back time..
For more than 3 months Hamid Mir invited MQM $hiiites to every episode, I think he should call them up also Geo owners should invite their God Father…
i am talking about SZABIST DUBAI CAMPUS ,
university is off else i would have taken the picture of letter that ASIF ZARDARI sent us to all of student.
Our dean was best i dont know why he was fired.
now virtually his 2 daughters are in charge of our campus.
these kids have no experience what so ever in running the institute and they are turning this institution of repute into some kind of pic nic spot.
they are firing teachers just as if its her dad property , even fired one of teacher coz he had big hairs…though he was the best teacher we had
we are really worried about , we mailed asif zardari on szabist address but he is not replying…
@ backwithbang
I’m not sure how far you’ll get with your protest in the UAE,…probably not a good idea, if you know what I mean. You and your friends should try and transfer out of this institution.
yeah we have decided to complain in MINISTRY OF EDUCATION , UAE , i am damn sure they will take core action against this.
The people of Pakistan should come out and protest against the closure of GEO in Pakistan. But since they are coward, they deserve to be ruled by thugs like Musharraf. Zardari and unknown to all Rehman Mullick (as some attach him to be a CIA’s agent and behind the murder of BB).
Imran Khan was right in saying that it seems that Zardari looks like a new Musharraf is BORN.
