Sunday afternoon having come and gone without a resignation, It is now being reported Musharraf intends to stay. In response, the coalition has given him a two-day ultimatum to step down. So the new deadline is Tuesday when the charge sheet will be presented in the parliament.
Well Newsweek is reporting “Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf is expected to resign Monday and fly into exile in Saudi Arabia, where he is to remain for the next three months, a former aide to the president has told NEWSWEEK on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.”
Some politicians have the colossal audacity to demand the president’s resignation. The very same politicians who have been convicted by the courts. I.e. Nawaz Sharif. Only recently the Lahore High Court stated Sharif was unfit to run for elections.
That is good news. He is digging a hole for himself by following the advice of his trusted advisers, that he won’t be able to get out of. Very similar to how he handled the whole Chief Justice issue last year.
Hopefully the govt. will have the guts to impeach/try/hang this dictator now.

“Only recently the Lahore High Court stated Sharif was unfit to run for elections.”
Excellent example. By the way didn’t the REAL supreme court rule against Musharraf and the PCO? And aren’t these current courts — including Lahore High Court — being run by PCO judges??
Yes I do agree these politicians have no right to demand his resignation cause I believe his holding the office is illegal and so no resignation is needed. All that is needed is a swift boot up his arse!
Pakistan will never be successful unless the government rejects American interference and pressure. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who was killed with Western approval, was the only decent leader.
A previous British Foreign Secretary said : “…….We must put an end to anything which brings about any Islamic unity between the sons of the Muslims………” It is abundantly clear that the Western governments have been conducting a ruthless campaign against Islam and Muslims under the disguise of a “War on Terror”.
No matter how carefully their plans may be, in the sight of Allah it is weaker than a spider’s web. Allah Azza Wajal is the ultimate Controler, Protector and Planner.
Interesting…
Officials say Bush discussed Musharraf’s future with Yousuf Raza Gilani, Pakistan’s prime minister, at a summit in Egypt in May. When Gilani told Bush that his government wanted to sack Musharraf, Bush asked for time to consider. When Gilani visited America last month, he got his answer. “Make it humane,” Bush is said to have told him.

ZAB was killed on the orders of the supreme court of Pakistan-( who refused his appeal)- for the murder of Nawab Ahmad Khan Kasuri. STOP blaming the Americans – they have done lots of bad things but they cannot be blamed for that. If you think ZAB was a decent leader- then you will really like HITLER !
Allah can only help the MUSLIMS. Pakistan is NOT a country of Muslims – only of people claiming to be Muslims . It is a country of thieves and crooks which is obvious by the leaders they have elected
@shimatoree
Poeple are same in every country.Only the system and culture set the behaviour of the people.We Pakistanis living outside the country(Pakistan) do obey the local laws and work hard.
It is just one hour flight from Karachi to Dunai and Pakistanis do obey the law of Dubai and stand in the lines But they do not obey when them come back to Pakistan.So it is the syatem and law makes difference not the people themselve.
In US the jail population of Pakistanis are the lowest as compared to other origins.

Munir Hussain
Musharaf will not step down, specially when he has a spokesman like Rashid Qureshi and an advisor Sharif ud din Pirzada . Sharif ud din Pirzada knows very well that the path adopted /selected by the dictator leads to and end in a Band Gale. So his probable advice will be to apply 58-2b (to gain time).Abdul Hafeez Pirzada will give him an advice after hearing the charges leveled against him in the house of Parliament (after the damage has done to the dictator). Only Mr. Malik Qayyum can give him realistic advice, but Dictator will not act upon the advice of Mr. Malik. Any how Talat is already in Istanbul / Turkey, Probably to welcome him at the Airport. Dictator will not care for people of Pakistan. Dictators consider themselves to be next to God .They like to hear which appeals good to them & only to them. Nero & Hitler committed suicide .
shimatoree
Your’re wrong.
Bhutto rankled the feathers of the Americans who disliked him to the core. The Americans planned Bhutto’s demise via puppet Zia.
It was the year 1976 and the US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger was on a visit to Pakistan, to meet Zulkiqar Ali Bhutto. Kissinger waited for a while, and said in a cultured tone, “Basically I have come not to advise, but to warn you. USA has numerous reservations about Pakistan’s atomic programme; therefore you have no way out, except agreeing to what I say”. Bhutto smiled and asked, “suppose I refuse, then what?” Henry Kissinger became dead serious. He locked his eyes on Bhutto’s and spewed out deliberately, “Then we will make a horrible example of you!” Bhutto’s face flushed. He stood up, extended his hand towards Kissinger and said, “Pakistan can live without the US President.
US no longer an ally of the President.
Changes in President Musharraf and US relations. Musharraf granted an interview on January 11 to the Singapore daily “Straits Times’, and in that interview challenged America, “If US forces intruded into our tribal territory, we will deem it as an invasion of Pakistan, which will be an affront to our sovereignty, and I challenge USA to dare come to our hills.
They will rue the day.
@sheshe
The court RECORDS of the supreme court of Pakistan speak for themselves. To continue to use what Kissinger allegedly said to ZAB does not change that . If you know anything about Zia Ul Haq- then you would know he was no puppet of anyone. To try to re-write what happened to suite one’s whims is disingeuous . Mr. Bhutto ordered the killing and he was tried, convicted and punished. The case has never been reviewed even in the two BB govts and no effort was made by BB to re- open the case. If there are questions about the case- then why does the present PPP govt re-open the case as their first priority. The reason why they have not done it is because deep down they know the truth- the same truth that Ahmad Raza Qasurie knows. They will find the legal truth. And of course if that happened then PPP and the likes of you will NOT be able to milk the event for rhetorical and political gains and continue to harp on all the QURBANEES that PPP has given.
As I said before – GET REAL !
shimatoree
You get real!
Historians, Retired Judges of the Superior Courts and eminent lawyers have now unanimously admitted that Mr. Z.A Bhutto was hanged by a US puppet General Zia -by orchestrating a judicial trial to get rid of a popular leader. He gave Pakistan its first constitution, nuclear programme. Bhutto was disliked by the Americans who at the time opposed a Nuclear Pakistan.
On April 5 2008: The Sindh Assembly on Saturday called upon the federal government to declare the death of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto a judicial murder. “This Assembly resolves and recommends to the Government of Sindh to approach the Federal Government to term the death of ‘Quaid-i-Awam Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’, the former prime minister of Pakistan, a ‘judicial murder’ and tender an apology to the nation for the loss of this great leader.”
Guys this impeachment thing and musharraf’s resignation hooplah is all a noora-kushtee. He isn’t going anywhere. So you all may sit tight for atleast half a year.
Speaking of noora-kushtee…
Dawn is reporting the coalition has backed away from their 48 hour ultimatum for Mush and have decided to “give him more time to makeup his mind”.
(This is the main headline of today’s Dawn though it is not online yet. When it does appear online in an hour or two, it probably will be here).
Axe on August 17th, 2008 7:47 pm
“Make it humane,” Bush is said to have told him.
Now I know Americans consider “lethal Injection” humane so maybe we should use that on Mush. We’ll be happy and Bush ‘ill be happy
well the only reason they are backin off from their own(once again)deadline like muree accord coz they kant take the backlash from army,these politicians are acting like some scared chickens……….
this should be the time for these politicians wtever their related pasts were that after 18th feb they got the vote for change not for compromises and back door deals……..why the hell he should get a safe exit,,,,,did he ever given any one a safe exit…..he only gave safe exits whenever he needed the help…….like the NRO………when he was in need for help…….which later got vanished as soon as bhutto died….
for once in a life time in the history of pakistan these politicians should realize that they hav got ppl’s vote behind them………..a 600,000 army cant go across the will of 149 million ppl of pakistan….i am excluding 11 million votes of musharaf’s croonies….
how long our politicians will carry on gettin scared of “all the powerful army”………….if they are so timid n scared of army’s backlash than would they count the whole army be part of musharaf’s crime…if not than they should go for the impeachment trial……….make this stooge an example…..this is the life time chance of changing pakistan n gettin it out of military’s rule i.e:direct or indirect…………by the way my younger brother is in same army as LT.
Look who’s talking…………………….
Who’s impeaching who………everybody knows even a small child in street of Lahore, Karach and elsewhere would know the most corrupt politician in the history of Pakistan…..Zardari……yet people dont understand we as a nation have very short memories…..if really want to impeach someone then it shud be across the board first it shud be zardari Mr X 10 % now Mr 100%. than shud be Nawaz sharif who was aspiring to be Ameer ul Momineen….who can amendment at his will……these people a far more dictator than Musharaf himself…..just remember who freed media ….who held the fair and free election of Feb 18 2008…dont u understand!!!!!!!. Now dollar is 75 rs……Pakistan has no standing…….atleast Mush is brave enough wat may come he will face impeachment…….
@imalik
“mush to announce his resignation at 1pm pakistan time….he will be provided security,he will stay in army house for indefinite period of time ..and there wouldnt be any persecution against him..”
So it appears Newsweek was right about the timing. But this really sucks….
BUT doesn’t this mean Judges will be restore by Thursday? Let’s see how the snake slithers……..
