In the absence of TK , let me start this thread
As CJ for the first time after 3rd of November 2007 entered his office building today let me dedicate these verses of Faiz to him…
Koi aisa ghani kay jis say koi

Unwelcome visitors to President’s House
Though a strong contingent of security personnel is manning the President House, it still is not safe from intruders who manage to enter the Presidency through the back door. These intruders are none other than wild boars…Wild boars are a common sight in Islamabad, but their presence in the President House is something unusual. Their number has considerably increased during the last eight years, a source in the Presidency said….
From the above link:
He said these animals had penetrated the president and prime minister houses through perennial nullahs and backside grills. The authority, he said, had decided to launch a comprehensive drive throughout Islamabad to cull wild boar population….
“These wild boars have infested the green belts, natural streams and brooks running down from the Margallas and criss-crossing the city and the vast Islamabad Park area (Zone-IV).
The wild boars were entering the residential areas and there had been reports that they attacked solitary pedestrians in the city streets late in the evening,” Mr Hussain said.
In winter hogs move freely on the roads causing fatal accidents and people complain about their presence in the streets after sunset.
Breeding areas of wild boars have been found all over the federal capital, especially in brooks and streams, the green-belt areas thickly covered by vegetation, marshy areas around Rawal Lake, behind Shakarparian and at the foothills of the Margallas.

@nota,
You are naughty and don’t want to miss a chance to have fun with pejamistri
But please be fair and highlight the fact that this stuff has been going for the last 8 years.
@rasheed
Sorry if i gave that impression. I certainly was having fun with this and I didn’t think anyone would not include the biggest pig Mush. It certainly goes wthout saying….
@ nota
This reminds me of an incident two years ago when I was still living in Islamabad and a wild hog was found dead near our house and someone commented: “PResident sahib wahan parey hein koi unn ko wahan sey remove kara dey”:)
Btw, have heard rumours about his desire to come in politics…. imagine the thick skin…of course only a hog can have this thick a skin!
Here we go begging again. Allah key naam pey baba…..

And our dear friend US tightening the purse strings and still demanding more at the same time…. what good have all the deals done now? Was it not better to have declared independence from the very start after the elections?

A very nice artcle by Mosharraf Zaidi on the economic situation. I partcualrly like the end paragraph:
“Pakistan is now completely mired in an economic and national security mess. This means that incumbency is poison. The only possible good that can come of the current mess is a sense of history and lessons for future governments. Pakistan can ill-afford the habitual sullying of good people, with a combination of bad economics and even worse institutional incentives. Economists must be free from fear, from pension considerations, and from ideas they’ve derived from books written by other people for other circumstances. Young non-partisan Pakistani economists like Mushtaq Khan, Ali Cheema and Asad Sayeed are assets that need to be protected from the vagaries of the state, and the impulses of patronage politics. They need to be given the freedom to speak loudly, and be encouraged to be creative. In the long run, as one creative and quite competent economist once said, we are all dead, anyway. So we may as well live with fearless creativity.”

These are the facts that have not been reported because of the immense pressure of the PPP on the media.
These are the facts that have not been reported because of the immense pressure of the PPP on the media. We will continue to expose the PPP powered, NRO laundered establishment hands who are refusing to restore the Cheif Justice. The people of Pakistan made Musharraf leave and if the PPP comes in the way of the restoration of Chief Justice it too will be dealt with. Here are the truths for all media men to take notice of and report:
Please forward to everyone you know to expose the shameful acts of this so-called democratic government:
1) When the CJ was about to leave his house, electricity supply and telephone lines to his house were cut off, rangers and jammers placed outside his house.
(only one news item on electricity it: http://www.pakwatan.com/latest_news1.php?id=8812
also condemned by Qazi: http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=142274 ) However the rangers did not stop them at that point. The were stopped at the exit of the judges colony on Margallah Road and then at the entrance of SC.
2) Repeated threats by police, interior ministry and PPP to stop and force the Chief Justice to change plans, etc. (Only some places reported it such as: http://www.dawn.com/2008/10/21/top5.htm). The instructions were so strict not to let anyone even remotely affiliated with the CJ enter the area that even Amin Fahim was stopped (http://thepost.com.pk/MainNewsT.aspx?bdtl_id=13120&fb_id=2&catid=14)
3) Dogar ran from the premises of the Supreme Court, with his car over 80 km/hr, on the wrong side of the road, breaking two traffic lights! This was also said by Aitzaz on the latest episode of Bolta Pakistan (http://pkpolitics.com/2008/10/20/bolta-pakistan-20-october-2008/). A video of one his many actions that have effectively reduced him to a laughing stock is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHnOMFASTkw
4) Some minor scuffles between lawyers, journalists and police. (No reporting of it. Only partial reporting by Daily Times: http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2008\10\21\story_21-10-2008_pg11_4)
5) Finally ONLY lawyers were allowed to enter the premises and not journalists (a couple allegedly sneaked in. Mentioned in Dawn. Apparently they are terrorists !)
6) The standoff was 4 hours and the event at SCBA was 2 odd hours. No one showed any of the clips live. Some reporters were reporting it and were able to get some broken stories. I was watching geo and saw the reporter get interrupted when he was about to discuss the police stand-off.
7) The journalists were barred from setting up their sattelite devices to be able to broadcast the CJ’s address live. Strict instructions not to telecast it live. Many have confirmed this (I can put her in touch with them if she promises that they will not be harmed).
The media is under strict control of the PPP through the editors and CEOs. Geo, News, Dawn and pretyt much everyone else has links with the PPP. Reporters have been specifically told not to give the news of the CJ importance or to cover him live. In addition there is a lot of pressure from the PPP to hide news of the CJ in middle pages and to report it partially.
No real coverage by PTV, Radio Pakistan, APP. All they said was that the CJ said he’ll make revelations on Nov 3rd which they will conveniently not cover because of the PPP.
——————————————————————————————————————————-
Sherbano (Sherry) Rehman’s flips
Sherry Rehman added a new twist claiming to be the hero in shining armor and said that she had given instructions to ensure media was able to cover what it wanted to?
Really Ms. Rehman? Can you point out one newspaper that has a complete accurate story? Or our journalists all terrible that they can not come up with one coherent story? And if that was the case why were the able to telecast Sher Afghan’s incident live for hours and have endless analysis on it then?
Many people have started wondering: what is Sherry Rehman smoking? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGkSgNBk_nQ
All journalists who have been affected by PPP’s media curbs are requested to contact Ms. Rehman at this address: sherryrehman@mobilink.blackberry.com
You can send her anonymous emails from the sites below (in case you are worried about the PPP harassing you as it has been known to do)
http://anonymouse.org/anonemail.html
http://www.sendanonymousemail.net/
The real test of the government is here. People are looking forward to hearing the Chief Justice’s speech live on 3rd November where he will disclose the anti-state activities of many people. All of Pakistan is waiting for it. Will PPP prevent the legal CJ from addressing the Rawalpindi Bar?
Word of advice to PPP: instead of discussing how to prevent emails from Harvard between ministers why don’t you work on fulfilling Benazir’s will. It was Benazir’s will to have CJ restored, it was BB’s will to have Zardari take over the party and BB’s will to have Zardari become President. How convenietly has the first part been ignored.
Disgusted by this “democratic party”.

@peja: the news of CJ’s triumph are premature my friend. But thanks for coming out
Nice sher though.
@nota: perhaps the pigs were lured into the presidency to meet their ‘sardar’ musharraf and then later on cut up for fresh bacon supplies for musharraf and his pimps.
someone mention my name?

I tried this Arabian Delights Mithai delivery system on Eid ul Fitr and it was a nice treat for my family in Pakistan. In 22 dollars, I could send 2 Kilos of Mithai in Velvet boxes.
I had not known this online service before. I came to know about it through PKPolitics.
Thanks PkPolitics and thanks Arabian Delights.

Very clever. Now they are killing Pakistanis with “their own sword”. Thank you again Pak Army, no other Army in the whole world is as coward, dumb and watanfarosh as you are.
Immense begging campaign seems to have paid off.
IMF offers $6bn package to Pakistan
IMF offers $6bn package to Pakistan
WASHINGTON: The United States has repeated its offer to help rescue Pakistan from the current financial crisis as diplomatic sources in Washington say the International Monetary Fund has agreed to provide $6 billion to the country to boost up its ailing economy.
The money will be available at 5 to 6 per cent interest while Pakistan also has agreed to readjust its monetary policies to qualify for the loan.
The country has already withdrawn subsidies on oil and oil products, a major IMF demand that may hurt millions of ordinary consumers across Pakistan.
‘Since Pakistan had already taken some of the most difficult and painful measures, the IMF is willing to help,’ said a diplomatic source involved in negotiations between Pakistan and the IMF.
Friends of Pakistan
The Nation Editorial, 22 October 2008
MUCH was expected by Pakistan from its Friends, in particular about $100 billion, but the man who expressed this idea, President Asif Zardari, has surely been disabused of this idea by his preliminary meetings with representatives of the Friends. But what has caused a shock to most Pakistanis has been that the USA has been blatant enough to leave it to its Assistant Secretary of State, Richard Boucher, to make the announcement. The Friends of Pakistan who will meet as scheduled in Dubai are actually an orchestration by the USA of how much aid is to come to Pakistan. More important than the amount, though that is also important in this era of cash-strapped economies crippled by the current financial crisis, is apparently who is lending the money. The USA is clearly inclined to Pakistan receiving a loan from the IMF, with all the attendant conditionalities that IMF is notorious for.
The Friends of Pakistan meeting is nothing more than a device to ensure that Pakistan turns to the IMF for the help it needs to survive a crisis that has occurred in the USA, partly because of the bad judgement of American financial experts, and mostly owing to our own faults. As a reward for that, and for being the USA’s most devoted ally in the War on Terror, Pakistan is left with no recourse but to go to the IMF, and be its lab for all its economists’ failed theorisings. Boucher, who has been responsible for bringing to Islamabad various messages on how the War was to be conducted, has been responsible for delivering a message that clearly indicates that the friends of Pakistan, China and the Gulf countries, refused Pakistan help in its hour of need because they were subject to US pressure. The Gulf countries refused to provide Pakistan the facility of obtaining oil on deferred payments, while China refused Pakistan a simple cash loan.
Now that it has become inevitable, Pakistan should accept the IMF loan, provided that it does not accept any conditionality that in any way militates against the national interest. It should also make sure that any loan, or string of loans, is not misused on any official extravagance, or merely spent on keeping the official machinery running, but only on development which helps increase exports through improvements in industry and agriculture. The government must put itself in a position where it can appeal to all Pakistanis to show the right spirit. Also, Pakistan must not accept American dictation on its economy, especially from an administration that is both outgoing, and has so clearly demonstrated that it cannot handle its own economy, let alone others’. The government also should engage in some soul searching about its financial credibility.

Pakistan ‘officially requests IMF aid’
@dmin
first programme on CJP currently on ARY…..on Focus ON Faiza
currently interviewing Athar Minhalla
i know @dmin doesnt record this…but it may be useful to do so as i have seen number of comments here regarding this??
Amir Ahmed Khan on the resolution passed by the joint session:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/urdu/pakistan/story/2008/10/081022_parliament_resolution_aak.shtml
Read the line where he says:
“American Officials told AZ that whenever they informed Pakistan army about the high level target , the target would escape”
and then read the line:
“Pakistan army informed US forces about the presence of Baitullah Mahsood and they (US) did not attack him”
Very interesting…… isn’t it?
In my opinion, Baitullah Masood is a US agent. He was released from Guantanamo Bay very quickly and allowed to come back and start his operations.
The Afghan Ambassador Mullah Zaeef said that he was also offered early release from Guantanamo Bay on the condition that he will work for them.
It seems Baitullah Masood took US offer, that is why he was quickly sent back to Pakistan to carry out these operations.
The President smells a rat behind Wapda pretoests
http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=142552
doesnt he smell anything behind miseries of people (and industry) that the electricity goes off for 1 hr after every hour??? this is even worst than most african countries (as we are a powerful nuclear country and best mates with US & front line fighters in US’s war!)
sorry my mistake…the President House is very busy in renaming roads, hospitals and airports in the name of his dead wife instead of putting plans in place for resolving the energy crisis…and it is only ‘plans’ were demanded from the people as they fully understand that energy crisis cannot be resolved overnight…but the first statement by our ‘democratic energy minister’ was that KB Dam will not be built!
this crisis could be fatal for PPP govt like Atta crisis was for Mush and Chaudry’s
another piece of news on power crisis

@Shirkuh
You have put it well, but if i can make a small change;
Those who can make a difference are in power and don’t care
and
those who want to make a change will inshallah succeed very soon and will make it happen
God help Pakistanies in making Pakistan a safe and proud country!
Not that we are unaware of the facts that the current ongoing crisis in Pakistan, especially the ongoing war in FATA that the Paki Army successfully brought into Pakistan, are posing a grave threat to the very existence of this country but now even the PM is accepting that Pakistan’s survival is at stake.
Pakistan’s ‘survival at stake,’ admits PM Gilani
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday replied to the letter sent to him by Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif, admitting that the country’s ‘survival’ was at stake due to the serious crises being faced by the nation.
‘The magnitude of the trauma our country faces is indeed great, and in many ways unprecedented. The very stability and survival of Pakistan is at stake. Our resources are over-stretched and our economy is severely impacted by each bomb blast and each suicide attack’, Mr Gilani says in his letter.
‘Innocent citizens, women and children all suffer the deadly fallout of this conflict created by the traffickers of violence, misery and devastation,’ he adds.
‘The global financial downturn has also squeezed space for growth and recovery in a tight financial situation, with food and oil scarcity haunting our vulnerable communities at a time when they need the most relief,’ the prime minister says in his letter, copies of which were released to the media.
Mr Sharif in his letter delivered to the prime minister on Monday evening had presented a grim picture of the state of affairs in the country and submitted six proposals for evolving a consensus policy on the war against terrorism and overall security situation.
The PML-N chief had also suggested formation of a joint parliamentary committee to oversee the affairs relating to the efforts to curb terrorism and militancy in the country.
However, in the prime minister’s letter there is no mention of Mr Sharif’s proposal regarding formation of the committee.
Responding to the PML-N chief’s proposals, Mr Gilani presented a 10-point policy being pursued by the government to tackle the menace of terrorism, extremism and to resolve the economic crisis.
further to the link provided by Shirkuh above http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/7685593.stm how selfish we have become that dozen innocent children are killed every other day by foreign invaders and we cant put this as a headline news??? not even our @dmin at pkp@litics??
but hey its not all lost…our parliamnet has already passed a resolution like many before …which will stop at that and AZ’s ZPP can continue with Mush agenda!

the opening paragraph is so true in these days
@rasheed
It was Abdullah mehsood, older brother of baitullah mehsud who was in in US custody. I am not sure id bailtullah works for USA, but one thing for sure he is an enemy of Pakistani people.
@sandana
u r rigt about Adullah Masood but i think he had no relation with Baitullah Masood.
There are news that he is dead and his name is being used by certain forces…u can say a local ‘usama’.
PPP ministers have become habitual & radical liars, who’s been blind to the American aims. Go read the CIA, FBI & Pentagon based reports. As they have been working for years Pakistan into several pieces.
Regarding Our Death. There is no justification for terrorism period. It is not about land, it is about killing of particulary killing only those MUSLIMs by American Missile Attacks who are strickly following ISALMIC SHARIA LAWs.
Under the light of above established undeniable facts I guess the term American (NEW WORLD ORDER) turned into War on Terror & forget the uses of term which is heard often “freedom fighters”. Never mind that energy was being transferred from America to Iraq has been diverted to Afghanistan & right now in Pakistan. Never-mind that Afghanistan is used to launch attacks on Pakistan, against International law. Never-mind that place of work, farmers’ fields mud homes, even home opened very small industrial complexes and border crossing were attacked by American Droned Attacks & don’t call them American terrorists just use the terminology of COLLATARAL DAMAGE stopping the flow of goods and & keep continue our own MUSLIMs killing as they are not innocent women & children. Never-mind because as they are Muslims and love to practice Islamic Sharia Law so that they must die at once no excuse of innocent repeatedly call peace gestures from Pakistan as “weakness” and have repeatedly called for Pakistan’s destruction. To me – it seems Zaradari/PPP is the most dangerous person/party in Pakistan…and just in time for elections. How convenient!

Good one! (“BB Kis Nay Mari Hay?”)
Pakistan will have to cut 30% defence budget in next 4 years if they opt for IMF.
http://www.thenews.com.pk/top_story_detail.asp?Id=17970
Now I understand why there was such offensive campaign in the media against IMF.
Dr. Muzzafar Iqbal sheds light on performance of my “beloved” Dr. AttaurRahman.
http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=142731
What a valuable annonoumous resolution passed by the Pakistani Parliament within just 2 hrs American Droned Attack is occurred as if Americans are making fun of Pakistani Parliamentarians. There is no doubt in my mind just within 6/7 months Pakistani General Public would stand up & is ready to take this —WAR ON TERROR— burning issue in their own hand and on full scale Pakistani will be ready to fight with America. As now a days the APDM & LAWYERs Movement are making up the minds of general public specially creating DEADLY HATRED with US ARMED FORCES & AGAINST AMERICAN POLIICIES.
@sic5770 @nota
reading the above link by sic5770 ‘BB kinnay mari aay’ i can only suggest that jyalas, writing on this blog …in vein to become popular by justifying every wrong act of ZPP and putting all blames on ‘imaginary’ establishment….should follow the the footsteps of their leaders like PM Gilani, Sherry, Haqqani, Gen Durrani and H Haroon (who were part of establishment under Zia) to achieve their ‘goals’ of becoming popular…otherwise they will be left out like real jyalas like Ijaz Farrukh and ‘this other ugly woman who used to be BB’s shield’ (forgotten her name) and her husband Abbassi???

“Pakistan will have to cut 30% defence budget in next 4 years if they opt for IMF.
Now I understand why there was such offensive campaign in the media against IMF.”
Funny you would spin he failure of this government (should we even be using the term “government”?) into a conpiracy by suggesting “campaign” against IMF by “army”.
If IMF was that “good” then why is it “the option of last resort” by Mr. Tareen? Don’t you go to IMF when NO ONE will give you money and you are extremely desparate?
“The campaign” has nothing to do with the army and I guarantee you no “cuts” of any meaninful value will come in the army budget(The only cuts that will come will come in the form of cutting benefits to ordinary soldiers, cutting local defense production so we are even more dependent on foreigners in the future, etc.)
I will also guarantee you Tareen WILL go to the IMF no matter what he is saying; no ifs, and, or buts about it.
The only “campaign” that has been going on is by the government to prepare us for “the tough measures to be implemented” by IMF meaning screwing the common man by increase in taxes (tax agriculture, etc.)
For reference see your new economic whiz in action:
Yesterday he claimed Recourse to IMF last option, says Tareen but we know he is lying cause a day earlier it was reported Pakistan had ALREADY ASKED IMF for help
Note for BJ: from the link above: “Aid from the agency often comes with conditions such as cutting public spending that can affect programs for the poor, making it a politically tough choice for governments”
IMF ALWAYS goes for ordinary peoples throats, never the military brass or the rich…
The Last Resort
As its friends make their excuses, Pakistan turns to an old bogey
…Pakistan’s new president, Asif Zardari, has made desperate begging trips to Saudi Arabia, America and China. To no avail. The Saudis are dragging their feet on a Pakistani request for $5.9 billion-worth of finance in the form of deferred oil payments. The Chinese seem to have done their due diligence and concluded that they cannot blithely advance billions to an increasingly dysfunctional state….Richard Boucher…said there was no prospect of American cash in advance. Mr Zardari is now scheduled to make another trip to Saudi Arabia in early November to entreat the Kingdom to bail out its old friend…

General Pasha says we cannot resist American aggression. Daily Express Nov 10, 2008. We don’t have resources to hit American drones – DG military operations General Pasha.
Regardless of any argument at hand, this statement is enough to show the state of slavish, coward and demoralized mentality of the Pakistani generals. They have resources to kill dozens of Pakistani civilians with impunity every single day. But they don’t have resources to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty.
In fact, they don’t have guts to, at the very least, stand up and take a principled stand. Forget about resistance and war and defence. Everything begins with one’s stand on law, principles, international norms of decency and mutual respect.
What defence can one expect when the generals of a nation fell down to this shameful level. At least they tell the aggressors, we have no al-Qaeda in Pakistan. We won’t kill our own people to create more victims and more ‘terrorists” for ourselves. You love to invade and attack the myth of al-ka-ee-da – the bogey monster of the CIA – so come on. Do the dirty job yourself.
If the aggressors couldn’t win in Iraq and resource-less, military-less, army-less Afghanistan, how on earth can then win in Pakistan? If this is the moral state of Pakistan’s army, it better leave the job and reduce burden on the nation’s scarce resources.
Zardari has already declared that Kashmiris are terrorists and we will not have a war with India. So no war with India in the East. No war with aggressors from the West. What then is this army good for? Killing its own people? It should pack up and leave the nation alone to fight it out with the puppets at the top and aggressors from outside. Sooner or later this is going to happen anyway. Most of the army will desert and turn on these sold-out souls. The aggressors are lost in the sweet dreams that a war within Pakistan will hollow it out and weaken to the core. But that is not going to happen anytime soon, whereas the warlords in Washington are running out of time and want to see quick results. This will bring them face to face with unimaginable resistance and hasten the ultimate tragedy to which the Zionist-Christians are looking forward to as Armageddon.

Why Ali Ahmed Kurd cries?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/urdu/pakistan/story/2008/10/081027_kurd_hanif_sen.shtml
There are people in Pakistan who have been struggling against the military junta for decades they know their struggle won’t bear fruits perhaps in their lifetime however they never stop struggling. As Muhammad Hanif:
I wish @dmin puts the speech of Ali Ahmed Kurd as the featured article tomorrow as their is Supreme Court Bar Association election and we want to wish him success…
@Peja
“…There are people in Pakistan who have been struggling against the military junta…”
It is not just the military junta, it is also the corrupts like the MoFo snake and the supreme wh0re of ZPP, Zardari et al.
To all the pea-brain Ziplias,
How come now that the wh0re Zardari is the president, no one talks about 58-2(B) and the 17th ammendment anomore? Would anyone care to enrich me with their pearls of wisdom?
@Amir Hameed
“How come now that the wh0re Zardari is the president, no one talks about 58-2(B) and the 17th ammendment anomore?”
‘Cause people know it is of no use under the current setup? Shouldn’t this question be asked of PML(N) as well since they are the so called “opposition”? Or is PML(Q) the real opposition now? Here’s an example(In the linked story you will read when PML-Q attacks PPP, it is Ishaq Dar who comes to their defense):
Asif’s credibility questioned
…Leader of House Raza Rabbani put up a vociferous defence soon after Senator Nisar A. Memon of the PML-Q, one-time confidant of former president Pervez Musharraf, opened the opposition attack, rejecting charges of a disregard of parliament, of political vengeance and undermining national interests in foreign relations such as with India and the United States.
But what appeared to be an early damage-control move by Mr Rabbani, who also warned Mr Musharraf of unspecified if he dared to enter politics, failed to stop even the coalition ally Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI) and half-ally Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) from pointing out the president’s broken promises about restoration of the deposed judges and a perceived delay in stripping the presidency of its controversial powers.
The attack on the former president came in response to Mr Memon’s allegations that the government was trying to interfere in the PML-Q affairs by seeking to change its leadership and unconfirmed newspaper reports of possible moves to induct Mr Musharraf as the head of the formerly ruling party that he helped form before the 2002 elections.
“If he (Musharraf) any such policy in his mind then he should be ready to face the consequences … of his crimes against the people of Pakistan and the Constitution … and face the two-year ban” (for retired government servants to seek an elected public office),” Mr Rabbani said.
Such a move, he said, would an attempt to reverse the verdict of people in the Feb 18 election that, he added, “people of Pakistan will not allow to happen”….
Notes:
1. Is this not admssion by Rabbani that Musharraf has committed “crimes against the people of Pakistan and the Constitution”? Then may I ask why is henot being prosecuted? Does that not make the current setup as guilty of the same crimes as the last one? Also note that while admitting Mush’s crimes, he states they will take action against Mush only if he tries to enter politics.
2. His tirade against Mush entering politics appears to be an expression of the fear that PPP finds itself in a spot where it feels threatened by the likes of Mush. Now that is some achievement!!!
The battle is on…between the representatives of the people and the establishment
KURD ‘The Lion’ Vs Zafar (a PPP lawyer supported by Malik Qayyum, Lord Dogar of Dogra Court & Latif Khota)….. Qst: its not Wasi Zafar???…perhaps a different name but same ‘qualities’
It is widely assumed that Ali Ahmed Kurd is expected to dominate the SCBA election for being the lead figure of the lawyers’ movement.

Pakistan back into the clutches of IMF
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/7693618.stm
There was great hope earlier this year that Pakistan would enter an era of peace and plenty following the return of democracy.
There is now a realisation that peace and plenty require strict discipline, careful planning and loads of hard work.
The new civilian government has used up more than half of the country’s meagre foreign exchange reserves without enhancing its own capacity to generate income.
@Malek,
“…establisment support to PPP candidate Zafar
…”
PPP is the establishment party now and they have proven it with all their actions so far.
@nota,
I agree that PML-N has been a non-factor here. May be the US has tighten screws of NS to the extent that he has chosen to keep quiet.
I was pointing more to people like @pega and @magsi who are content that their spiritual leader, the wh0re Zardari, is now the president and therefore, all the talk of 17th ammendment and 58-2(B) has now been shoved under the carper. Morons like these don’t realize the disservice that they have done to the country.

@Peja,
Unfortunately, inspite of all your sudo-intellectual rant, that is all you are capable of doing, that is, supporting the establishgment party, a.k.a, PPP, which is really ZPP and bowing unconditionally to your spiritual leader, the supreme wh0re and the snake Zardari.
.. continued
and BTW, I forgot to mention that you are doing one heck of a jon in that.
Moody has further cut Pakistan’s financial rating:
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601080&sid=a_g3jG5zjJ3U
So, the “sudo-democracy”, lead by the establishment party (ZPP/PPP) and the snake, has further eroded whatever foreign exchange was left in the country. One should look into snake’s accounts (scattered in various banks all over the world) to see how much have they grown in the past few months and believe me you will not be susprised to see them jumped by a certain percentage. After all, he has to maintain his image of Mr. ___ percent.
So, @Peja,
I ask you to come out of Faiz’s a$$ for a moment and comment on why nothing is being done by your establishment party (PPP or ZPP) on the 58-2(B) and the 17th ammendment? and please spare us with the rant on how the snake has asked to form a committee to decide on 58-2(B) because we all know that it was a mere topi drama. Waiting for your peral of wisdom.

@Peja,
Don’t have any real answers my friend? You call it “.. the kind of language…”, I call it “calling spade a spade” and that is why I call your spiritual leader a wh0re and a snake, because that is what he is.
Come to the real point and try to answer my questions that I have posted for the Ziplias above.
@amir hameed
Would love to answer your question(s), but afraid of the “kind of language” against my person (of course you will be calling “a spade a spade” i.e a jiyala aa jiyala” ). As a matter of fact I am not unhappy about being called a jiyala as Faiz said
دل مدعی کے حرف ملامت سے شاد ھے
اے جان جاں وہ حرف تیرا نام ہی تو ھے
Only at certain times I get afraid of being called “spade a spade” or “a donkey a donkey”
you know what I mean.
hmm… let us put that aside, I think I need to be much more tolerant than I am.
To answer your question about the 17th amendment and 58(2)-b , let me say I am very much eager to find the answer to this question. I in fact was extremely excited about the constitutional package and tried to write reviews about that package. Although I am EAGER but I am not in a HURRY , PPP/AZ “the snake” (I am not sure if AZ minds being called snake) , have got 5 years to bring the constitutional package and I can wait till then. Let me also cover the worst case scenario that they (PPP/AZ) don’t bring any constitutional package (i.e. repeal 17th amendment) in 5 years even than worst I would do with them is cast my vote against PPP (By the way I had already decided in last elections to vote for IK in any case if I were in Pakistan but since he did not contest elections neither I went to Pakistan during elections time so nothing happened
).
As far as AZ being establishment agent , PPP being establishment party , NS being groomed by the mad dictator , IK supporting the mad dictator in early days , SS being blue-eyed establishment guy and so on and on …. is concerned I don’t care two hoots.
My views about politician are very much deep rooted , I believe that politicians in Pakistan are extremely patriotic. I respect NS as much as I respect CJ Iftikhar Chaudary. Iftikhar Chaudary did exactly what NS did 8 years before i.e. stand against the dictator. The difference was only that NS was politician and over the years in a thematic way hatred has been propagated against the politicians in Pakistan, therefore if the dictators overthrow a democratic government it is considered as halal. It was rather unfortunate that none other than politicians stood against the dictators in 60 years, it was for the first time that CJ Iftikhar Chaudary stood in front of the dictator…. in my eyes he is as much respectable as Nawaz Sharif. It is not only NS I respect , I also respect AZ , BB, AA, IK, and many more.
On the other hand I do not consider AZ , NS or any other politician as something other than human. They are humans and have their own vested interests and short comings for which they deserve criticism and voted out of the power. For me most important thing is the democratic process.
Well it seems I am being a preacher which I hate to be…… so let me stop here…
I am afraid though it won’t make much sense to you…. I however don’t mind you criticizing AZ the snake
…
peja
reading above i am pretty sure u r not just deceitful in making statements and comments but really twisted i believe
@pejamistri,
I can imagine how much upset you are, after what AZ said against CJ yesterday. AZ offered a senate ticket to CJ as well as an amendment in constitution to remove the 2 years limit for government employee.
I know you respect NS a lot. I formally invite you to become Musalmaan and join PMLN.
There are just few conditions that must be met when someone moves from PPP to PMLN.
1- You have to stop drinking
2- No late night activities
3- Your diet needs switching to Lahori one
4- Perform umrah and visit daata darbaar annually
5- Memorize & practice some basic slogans like “mian day naaray wajjan gay”
US senators given hilal-e-imtiaz awards by AZ…..i am not sure if it was in return for bombing on pakistani territory by US or is AZ expecting a similar award to him by US…after all US ‘khusnoodi’ is more important to AZ then the votes and people of pakistan
http://www.thenews.com.pk/updates.asp?id=58724
@Malek
Speaking of the economy, in’t it interesting it was IMF that forced WB to cancel the loan to Pakistan? And now they are going to “save” us! But what do I know. BJ says speaking ill of IMF is a conspiracy by the “establishment” against PPP ’cause IMF will cut efense budget by 30 percent. What makes it funny is his master AZ’s recent statement “We won’t cut defence budget on anybody’s desire”
(But guess who is cutting the military budget some?)
@nota
my conclusion is whatever bJ says or President Zanadari says …multiply it by 0.0001 and that will be the element of honesty or truth in that statement…
as far as economy or infact anything serious is concerned thats not ppp’s job…ppp’s intellect stops at slogans of…..shaheeeed, BB, jya bhutto, qurbaaanian, jya zardari….
Girl thrown to dogs was pregnant
ISLAMABAD: There is more to the bone-chilling account of the 17-year-old Taslim Solangi of Khairpur who was thrown to dogs — she was 8-month pregnant and was forced to give birth to her baby prematurely.
The baby was immediately thrown into the nearby Ubhal Wah canal after her killer father-in-law passed a judgement that the child was illegitimate and did not deserve to be allowed to live.
Meanwhile, a new report said hit men have also been dispatched to Karachi to kill the absconding mother of Taslim who had fled the village. Top level inside sources have now confirmed to The News on good authority that at the time of her murder Taslim was to give birth to her first child in two-week time.
But, once the decision to eliminate her was taken by her father-in-law Zamir Solangi, she was taken to a local midwife Mrs Badshaan alias Baashi for forced delivery of the child. Soon after the delivery, the baby was thrown into the nearby canal and later the mother was put to death.
…
A source said: “You are talking about some one who was murdered in March, but no one is talking about the mother of the victim whose life is in serious danger after she decided to take on the killers of her daughter.î
The murderer is still at large, telling every body that he has sent hired assassins to eliminate the mother of his daughter-in-law. The police have instead arrested the husband of the girl, who volunteered to confess that he has killed his wife….
@Malek
“multiply it by 0.0001″

@Peja,
Let me first say that to me and most of the people on this forum, a jiyala is nothing more than an “empty piyala”
“…, PPP/AZ “the snake” (I am not sure if AZ minds being called snake) …”
Why would he be mad for being called what he is?
->> BTW, this so-called constitutional package is nothing more than a farce, which is being prepared by a non-elected moron, Nalaiq, which will do nothing more than fulfilling the wishes of the supreme wh0re, Zardari. So, you may be able to wait for the rest of your life for it to come out but it will have no value.
“…My views about politician are very much deep rooted , I believe that politicians in Pakistan are extremely patriotic….”
->> So, a snake like Zardari, who is a politician by your definition is free to loot money of this poor nation and transfer it overseas and you would call that an “extremely patriotic politician”?
“…I respect NS as much as I respect CJ Iftikhar Chaudary…”
->> Wrong comparison; unlike CJ, NS looted money in Zia’s era and that is how he was able to build his empire.
“… Iftikhar Chaudary did exactly what NS did 8 years before i.e. stand against the dictator…”
->> Wrong again, NS did that for his personal gains where as CJ did that for the people.
“… It was rather unfortunate that none other than politicians stood against the dictators in 60 years, it was for the first time that CJ Iftikhar Chaudary stood in front of the dictator …”
->> Right on CJ but wrong on politicians. Politicians have always used workers for their fight and have never fought on their own. NS was sitting in Dubai and London in luxuary for the past eight years and it was people like Javed Hashmi who were fighting his fight. But as soon as he came back, he sideined JH. And BTW, if people like NS are leaders of the common people then why would their families go abroad for medical treatment?
“…On the other hand I do not consider AZ , NS or any other politician as something other than human…”
->> Actually AZ is not a human, he is a two-edged toung slithering snake
“… They are humans and have their own vested interests and short comings for which they deserve criticism and voted out of the power…”
->> It is their so-called shortcomings that have brought this country to the brink of disaster.
@nota,
“Girl thrown to dogs was pregnant”
I did read it in The News yesterday and what bothers me is that innocent people get thrown to the dogs where as people who truely deserve it, like the snake Zardari, Haqqani, Rehman Malik, Choudharies of Gujrat, Sharif brothren, etc., get to govern this nation.
@Amir Hameed
But that would be cannibalism….

I gather from “siyasi cell meiN muntaqil” to mean now foreign terrorists are “political prisoners” while our innocent brothers and sisters and children are labeled “terrorists”. Wah ray PPP!!!
@nota
i dont think if a dog eats a dog that can be classed as cannabalism???

And remember he is going to go free pretty soon. This is just a step towards that…

Be happy. Pakistan protests too.
Isn’t it amusing to read: Pakistan to US: Stop missile strikes near border? Is this the first time Paksitan is doing this memm memmm memmm? Did anyone listen to this lame protest of the lamb being slaughtered? There is a lesson in what Syria is doing: Syria takes US raid protest to UNand Syria orders US school, cultural center closed. Interestingly, didn’t the same Washington Post reported early that: Pakistan’s leaders and military cannot publicly support U.S. cross-border operatins – Washington Post. Against this backdrop, can anyone expect that Pakistani protext is no more than a show to Pakistani public that they have a spine as well and they can protest too. Protest…!!! What a joke.
A new stunt by the mercenary-in-chief in Pakistan
The mercenary general in chief, Parvez Kiyani, announced on Tuesday Pakistan army will halt construction of a new General Headquarters (GHQ) in Islamabad because of the economic crisis faced by the country. This is a good show of sensitivity and patriotism by a mercenary general who wants to win a few hearts and minds among the victims of his masters’ war of terrorism. The General is saving peanuts compared to what his mercenary army has actually been spending to undermine Pakistan.
To examine this we need to step back and look at the role of Pakistan army, successive Pakistani regimes in Pakistan and their role in keeping Pakistan occupied. If we look carefully, there is hardly any difference between the words and deeds of the Karzai’s municipality in Kabul and the puppet regime in Islamabad. Both regimes and their “national armies,” used for keeping their people occupied and in check, are receiving almost equal Foreign Military Financing and both are serving their American masters well.
Other than the $10 billion pocked by the mercenary generals for Jihad-fee-sabeel-e-America, called “our war,” the country accumulated a total of $821 million in FMF support between 2002 (when FMF was resumed) and 2005.
Additionally, military training funds are on the rise – from zero in 2001 to a $2 million request for 2006. President Bush took the relationship with Pakistan’s mercenary army one step further in June 2004, naming Pakistan a “Major Non-NATO Ally” – a slave, mercenary state to be precise. This designation, accorded to only a handful of nations, makes Pakistan eligible for previously unavailable weapons like depleted uranium munitions, and new funding sources like U.S. government-backed loans to build up its military capabilities.
Bush reversed 15 years of policy begun under his father by offering F-16 fighter planes to Islamabad as if they were an answer to defeat the mythical al-ka-ee-da – the CIA bogey-moster. Initially, Pakistan planned on buying two dozen of the Lockheed Martin manufactured planes, but Bush administration officials note there would be no limits on how many could eventually be purchased – not free of cost, but on Pakistani public funds. Pakistan’s economy was not strong enough to allow Musharraf to purchase the $35 million per copy fighter planes, and so the deal was accompanied by about $3 billion in military aid, which again, we will have to pay, because the mercenary army is not earning anything for Pakistan, it is there to borrow, consume and let the nation pay of the debt.
The importance of a strong local mercenary army for butchering its own people and sustaining occupation (de facto colonization) can be judged from the patterns of US assistance to Afghanistan.
The Karzai regime asked for $27.5 billion in aid over seven years, keeping the develop aspect of the country in mind. So far, the war-torn nation has received just $4.5 billion and, according
to the UK’s Independent, “much of the $2.2 billion earmarked for 2004 was diverted into military projects and emergency relief from long term development.”
U.S. aid to Afghanistan in 2005 totals more than $929 million, more than 80% of which is earmarked for the military and police. This comes on top of a similarly skewed 2004 budget of
$1.7 billion, where only 10% went to development assistance and child survival and health. Taken on top of a $589 million appropriation for 2003, U.S. assistance for Afghanistan tops out at $3.2 billion and counting, with the lion’s share going to the military.
One of the few differences between the direct Iraqi occupation and indirect Pakistani occupation is that in Iraq, the US is in the process of training an army that would replace its forces. Whereas in Pakistan it has got a pre-trained army, which can go to any length under a pro-US strong-mercenary-in-chief to ensure American interests. As far the butchery in Iraq and the concentration camps, no need has arisen for that in Pakistan so far. Pakistan has lost more soldiers in the past few years than the occupation forces losses in Afghanistan or Iraq. See here (Pakistan army???)
Pakistan’s defense budget has never been audited. Anyone who questions the Generals’ wealth and power faces all kinds of hardship. In 1999, weeks after the Army took over, some members
of the suspended parliament made statements against the Army; they were then kidnapped and brutally beaten. In 2003, a member of the Punjab Assembly, Sanaullah, taunted the generals over their fabulous wealth. He disappeared for several days. When he returned he had a shaven head, disfigured face and multiple fractures. The news of ISI involvement was all over
the world. Sanaullah also tried to bring some Generals to justice, but no one would listen to him for fear of the army. Imagine the fear of the army in the heart of a common man. In the 1980s
Time published an article giving a brief account of the wealth of Pakistan’s generals, but that issue was banned in Pakistan.
The military occupation of Pakistan will continue as long as the US is the Pakistani’s Army’s main supporter. If the United States or the IMF stopped pouring money into Pakistan, the
government there would not be able to pay its 500,000 troops and maintain the status quo of having an upper hand in every decision from local to the provincial, national and international
level. Civilians are always looked down upon and military officers are specially trained to keep the contemptuous “civilians” at arms length. Military officers are specifically instructed during their initial period of training to even avoid public transport so as to keep a distance from the occupied, oppressed general public.
And the butcher mercenary general stopped construction of the GHQ to make the general public feel that he is one of them, serving them, not his masters abroad.

It is very interesting that reading about democracy and its philosophy and mechanism , I always come across a strange coincidence that somehow illiterates or less educated have more sense of democracy in Pakistan than the educated class. I was reading this paper
http://www.science.uva.nl/~seop/entries/democracy/
and found two very interesting terms , “a collective decision making” and “equality”. Democracy concerns the collective decision making and the members are equal. In Pakistan somehow the educated class is more equal than others (less educated) , however in the less educated class all are equals therefore they make a collective decision and honor it.
My article in The News got published today. It talks about Kurd’s victory and what it means for Pakistan and the movement. Comments/Feedback always welcome!

Victory
Thursday, October 30, 2008
Samad Khurram
The victory of Ali Ahmed Kurd as president of the Supreme Court Bar Association is a historic milestone in the history of Pakistan and that of the lawyers’ movement. This is not just a victory for Ali Ahmed Kurd but for all Pakistanis who are still actively involved in the restoration of the judiciary to its position as on Nov 2, 2007. In particular this is a victory for the late soul of Advocate Imdad Ali Awan who passed away while driving the Chief Justice’s car in Karachi.
The landslide victory is important for many reasons. Before the elections all anti-movement forces had joined hands to interfere with the election process notwithstanding their past hostility. General Musharraf’s attorney general, Malik Qayyum, was given a standing ovation by the PPP-backed People’s Lawyers Forum. Ironically, as a judge of the Lahore High Court, he had been taped talking to an aide of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to fix punishment for Benazir Bhutto. In the build-up to the election, the ministry of law poured money into the Pakistan Bar Council in a bit to influence the SCBA election. According to several news reports, the law minister himself had been busy trying to lobby support for the PLF candidate.
Yet when the time came to vote an overwhelming majority of lawyers refused to be swayed from their determination and cause. This is only a reflection of a vast majority of Pakistanis – 86 per cent according to a survey run by a reputed US organization – who want the Supreme Court back restored. Notwithstanding what we are being told on television by government supporters and representatives, the issue is here to stay.
What makes Pakistanis so loyal to this movement when it has neither had funding from any agency nor will it bring immediate personal gains for those who are involved in it? This is because Pakistanis understand the importance of rule of law and that it is a key prerequisite for sustained economic growth. This link was recently analysed in an article in The Economist which concluded that countries where governments upheld the rule of law tended to have higher GDPs per capita. Several other studies have not only established this link but also have mentioned it as a fundamental precondition for economic growth.
Average Pakistanis, however, can tell from their own experience and can see the reality of this link. It was only the lawyers’ movement, supported by large swathes of civil society, that General Musharraf to accept that arbitrary exile of the political leadership was unconstitutional. It was the momentum given by the movement that played a large role in the political opposition winning the election and forming a government. And it was the lawyers’ movement which eventually led to the general’s resignation.
The pressure sustained by the movement also forced the government to restore some of the judges. While the manner adopted by the government was not something commendable, it goes without saying that this is the first time in the history of Pakistan that judges have been reinstated after they refused to take oath under a PCO. However, these achievements do not distract the supporters of the movement who understand that the restoration of the judiciary to its Nov 2 position is a precondition for establishing rule of law and independence of the judiciary in Pakistan.
When a lawyer of the All India Muslim League raised the cry for Pakistan in 1940, Muslims of the region responded with thunderous support. Seven years later Jinnah had achieved the impossible. It is only fitting that six decades later the struggle to take back Pakistan is spearheaded by the very people who not only share Jinnah’s profession but also his passion and love for the country.

Chaudhry Fazal Elahi was the weakest President of Pakistans history of democratic rule & Yousaf raza Gilani is the weakest PM.
Everyone, including jiyalas & others, unintentionaly quote Zardari for anything going on in govt. They hardly to none quote Gilani.
It seemz more as elected President & appointed PM instead of the other way around.
PM & parliament is not even in any equation other than to get the things stamped that can’t be possible otherwise.
So which one is wrong weakest President or weakest PM?
which one is wrong neither of them, as they both are/were merely puppets.
Zardari is spoiling whole system, if he wanna be in the limelight he should opt for being PM.
Only an elected PM can strengthen the parliamentry system not an appointed president.
My question was in the parliamentary system what is wrong a weak President or a weak Prime minister.. I gather from you response a weak Prime Minister is wrong… I agree with that. The Prime Minister should be the chief executive of the country as per the norms of westminister style parliamentary democracy.
Local tribesmen fire at suspected U.S. drone in Pakistan’s tribal region
Local tribesmen in northwestern Pakistan’s tribal region on Thursday opened fire at the suspected U.S. drones, and forced them return back to Afghanistan, local television reported.
When the goernment is serving the colonial masters and fail to save its people from foreign aggression, it is not surprising to see people forced to take it upon themselves. In the process they become “terrorists” for the mercenary army and its masters. Compare the almost weekly bombing of Pakistani town by the occupation forces from Afghanistan and the Pakistani regime’s own war of terror against its people and the Syrian reaction to the killing of 8 Syrians. This comparison should be enough to tell anyone the extent of slavish mentality of the Pakistani political and military leadership and the level to which they have fallen. Don’t be surprised if soon we find 160 million terrorists in Paksitan and a handful of “moderate,” “liberal,” “elected,” ”democrates” trying to bring “peace” and “prosperity” and establishing a “rule of law.”
Good blog…

@Pejamistri
“I always come across a strange coincidence that somehow illiterates or less educated have more sense of democracy in Pakistan than the educated class.”
Yes, That is the case some times. Especially when a M A D A R I G H A R like you and your fellow M A D A R I G H A R S in ZPP present mirages/fata moganas/illusions to the poor by promising “Roti”, “kaprha” “aur makaan”.
You people have consistently been doing that for the past many decades without delivering. Do you think you can fool the people once more?
WYSIWY(DN)G What You See Is What You (Do Not) Get.
@shirkuh
I love it when one “know-all” complains other “know-all” is fooling the people… you know what there lies the difference you believe that people who are illiterate, and can not read/write english have lesser intellect in making the decision for their lives… however the article I referenced above talks about equality both in intellect and decision making in a certain group.
I like Iqbal who gave the best wording to this fallacy.
بندوں کو گنا کرتے ھیں تولا نہیں کرتے
…
One of the several myths propagated by the successive dictators and the “know-alls” in Pakistan has been based on above verse of Iqbal.
Let me tell you people of Pakistan have always made the best decision, and I personally believe that people of Pakistan (mostly illiterates) have the highest political awareness in the whole region and muslim world , it is an irony that a country with highest political awareness have been mostly ruled by dictators (unluckily the dictators of Pakistan had been the worst dictators too in the world)… but to their credit people of Pakistan have always stood against every dictator (which demonstrates their political consciousness).
At the same time political leaders of Pakistan have also been probably the best amongst the contemporary leaders, look how under the harshest circumstances they kept leading the people and have always made a great comeback.
I keep saying that if it were not the people of Pakistan and political leaders of Pakistan than we would have had Husni Mubarik ruling us for 40 years.
I recall in the early days of first PPP government their used to be saying of Quaid-e-Azam after khabarnama and it was
عوامی راے کبھی غلطی پر نہیں ھوتی
@Shirkuh
Yesterday Ayaz Amir (on PTV) suggested it was time we threw away Iqbal as our national poet. Dr. Shahid Masood suggested Faiz instead. And Ayaz said we cannot have any decent poet with that label and needed to find someone totally new. I totally agree with him. What could be bigger insult to the likes of Iqbal, Faiz, Jalib to be used by pure filth in support of the current mofoking rulers…
@Peja,
“… At the same time political leaders of Pakistan have also been probably the best amongst the contemporary leaders, look how under the harshest circumstances they kept leading the people and have always made a great comeback….”
What? you believe that people like the snake, Zardari, are the best among the contemporary leaders? People like the snake are (definitely) best in finding ways on how to increase their bank balance by fooling people with their hollow salogans and by creating smoke screens.
A leader is someone who does not lie to the people that he/she is leading. Can you honestly apply this to someone like the snale Zardari who has done nothing but lied to everyone.
@pejamistri
I tend to agree with your observation that political awareness has little or perhaps nothing to do with formal education. England was not a country of pre-dominantly educated ones in 1688 neither is India 100 percent literate today yet both have been citadels of democracy.
And as far as above mentioned verse of Iqbal is concerned, I think actually it is something like this:
Jamhoriat wo tarz e hakomut hay kay jis main
Bandoon ko gina jata hay tola nahin jata
So in essence it conveys an anti democratic message,though Iqbal was otherwise a fervent believer and a willing practitioner of participatory democracy, however the verse’s exact context escapes me, perhaps it was in the midst of a dialogue, an argument.
I wish I could complete my work on the myths created by the cronies of dictators and know-alls of Pakistan about the democracy. One of the myth is about the (un)fallibility of the political leaders.
[ --- Let me first add this though that such myths have no/limited impact on the vast majority of people of Pakistan , because luckily first they are insulated from these know-alls because of social fabric as well as medium of communication (i.e English). It is only the urban area residents which are affected by these myths. But as I said despite all the efforts by the dictators and their cronies , people of Pakistan living in rural area and majority of the urban area have survived all the attacks against the democracy. --]
So the myth goes like this political leader must somehow be an angel , in other parts of the world I have noticed that people consider leaders “one like them” and they associate the same attributes to the political leader as they have themselves. Political leaders are considered just as common person as any other person , as a matter of fact I asked this question to one of my Irish colleague how honest is the new Theashak (Prime Minister) and I was amused by his response … he answered “He is a politician”
(Remember last Prime Minister has to resign on the corruption allegations).. I also spoke to one of my US friend just now and asked him “Do you think Bush told a lie about Iraq?..” , he said yes and said “that’s what he expected from him ..Bloody Republican”. (So what he would do ?? he is not going to vote for Republicans this time also)…
There is no doubt in my mind that the politicians of Pakistan have very high caliber , they have always acted very responsibly even during 1977 when there was the very high political temperature they were able to sit together to sort out their issues (it was the mad dictator who sabotaged their dialogue) , similarly during the 90′s both NS and BB were always able to get together despite a lot of conspiracies by the army generals.
Same is true at the moment as NS, AZ, Lawyers , IK all doing very responsible politics. (For several people it Ali Ahmed Kurd will also be a disappointment as Kurd is just like Aitzaz Ahsan in all respects.. )
Democracy is a process , leaders may or may not be corrupt , leaders may or may not be honest , leader may or may not be good (“Good” by the way is a relative term)… Important thing is we keep voting them out through general elections…
I will talk about the myth of “Universal Truth” and “Agreement on basic principles” in another episode.
Signed
Self-Proclaimed Preacher of Democracy
Pejamistri
@gditpp
I completely agree with you about Iqbal’s democratic credentials as a matter of fact his book “Reconstruction of Religious Thoughts in Islam” best explains the democratic principles in Islamic Jurisprudence and the socio-political system.
I will quote you the poem letter for the context this verse. Trying to type it in urdu.
@Peja,
“…Remember last Prime Minister has to resign on the corruption allegations…”
You see, there lies a big difference right here; the Turkish PM had to resign on the “corruption charges” and here we have a thug, who is among the most corrupt persons in the history of this country, who has been elected as the president of this country by the zombies of his party.
In the Western world, there is no concept of the “supreme party leader” that all members of the party unconditionally bow to, is there? But this is the culture of political parties in this country, especially in ZPP and PML-N. Tell me if anyone ever “dared” to raise voice in front of ZAB, BB, snake, NS?
In your world, which BTW I call the peja-world, this somehow translates or maps to the political acumen of our politicians but in the real world, it is not. So, whatever you are tryong to sell to the public may be sellable in the peja-world but not in the real world.
By the way, so much for that CT:
IMF not pressing for defence cuts
Here’s an earlier so called “sazish” that turned out to be cr@p as well
@Shirkuh
Just came across one of your old comments…From what you know today, maybe you’ll change your mind.
What’s there to be upbeat about?
Tareen upbeat on IMF help
Remember this is the guy who said IMF was the last resort and now he is upbeat because he has no other choice? And knowing what he knows:
“We know IMF programmes harm nations financially.”
Would you be “upbeat” if you had no money and took a step that would further “harm you financially”?
@nota,
Remember, these are “elected” people and therefore, they know what they are doing. What a horse sh!t.
@Amir Hameed
Them and all their supports are MOFOS. “Elected” my ass. They couldn’t win an election in a bhanGi council (no offense to bhanGis).
This whole IMF affair is a con-job by our “elected” representatives….
Jiyay Bhutto!!!
Fatima writes “Is Pakistan a failed state? No, but it’s damned lousy at pretending it’s a democracy.”
Texts, lies and Zardari-gate
Pakistan is in crisis, with an economy that has hit rock bottom. Think Zimbabwe, minus the good governance
Jiyay Bhutto!!!
From above article:
PPP = “Permanent Plunder Party”
Correct link to the Fatima Bhutto article
I am amused … So here is another myth …
The know-alls try to sell everything that is against the Pakistani political leaders. It is the greatest myth that western world does not like the “supreme party leader” as a matter of fact it really shows the lack of leadership that there parties don’t find the “supreme leader” and when they find they stick to that leader until public trust in that leader is eroded completely.
Pakistan has the blessing that we find the leaders which always have high level of public trust in them specially in their own parties. Despite all the propaganda by the know-alls and military dictators against them , Pakistani political leaders enjoy the highest trust level in public. It is sort of a quid pro quo between the political leadership and the people.
A glaring example of this trust is the return of both NS and BB last year. Despite a continuous and relentless campaign against both the leaders by the mad dictator and his cronies , the return of these leaders was an historic events.
I remember how people welcomed Nawaz Sharif and Benazir when they returned.
“Great minds” think similar
.. here and there .
haha ..
So, when facts are presented to people who live in their own world, they consider them “myths” and then try and twist those facts to somehow justify their support to the corrupts spiritual leaders that they unconditionally bow to. These are the same people who try to present the “brain-dead zombies” as loyals who have extreme “trust” in their corrupt spiritual leaders. No wonder the country is in a chaos and at an abyss that it has never been before. When plunderers are made “leaders” then this is the price that nations like us have to pay.
So this is what you are reduced to BJ — picking up crumbs? You sure are a pathetic sob….
@BJ

What is really funny is that the article is by MOSHARRAF ZAIDI and from The News
(If you had any sense of decency you would be embarrassed but of course you are bay-haya of the first order like the Awans,Naeks, Khosas, et al)
By the way, your parties appointed savior himself said today:
“We know IMF programmes harm nations financially.”
Duh!
I have started enjoying it … although I try to avoid such debates that lack any constructive argument.
Over time I have spotted certain characteristics of the know-alls who like to bash political leaders. But let me first describe the difference between political critic and a know-all. A political critic is one who has the difference of opinion and have an alternative approach to solving the problem at hand. Usually a political critic will be part of an opposition party. There are a lot of people who might belong to PML-N , IK or any other party and feel the same as “know-alls” for PPP and AZ, however they would have solution to the problem by proposing the change in country’s leadership and approach to solve these problems.
Now let me state the characteristics of the know-alls.
1. First of all they would put themselves at the highest pedestal morally. They will have the highest levels of ethics , patriotism and self-righteousness.
2. As the name suggests they will know all and everything from the matters of religion to parenting , science to economics, politics to military, and everything under the sun.
3. One of the most interesting thing I noticed is that on pkpolitics know-all have classical paradox , in their quest of political leadership bashing they want to go at any length but they don’t want to expose themselves like ahmedqurashis
I love quoting my favorite quotes here is one.
Right BJ. Now get downor your knees and do what you do best with skill passed downyour pedigree.
Of course you did not mention anything about what you find wrong with the article or why Tareen would say what he said.
By the way,if I speak my mind will you run to your mama again and hide behind your little son?
It is in fact funny that those who have hardly ever presented any “constructive argument” themselves are complaining about lack of constructive arguments from the others!. This is one of the characteristics of the brain-dead zombies who not only worship the corrupts but also call them the “knights” who in their dead minds are fighting some war against some mythical enemy.
Gutless pr!ck also had no answr for what Fatima Bhutto had to say in her article. Isn’t this the old zionist trick of screaming “ANTI-SEMITE!” whenever the truth is about to be exposed? And I certainly agree with your “ApNay” @mbokhari who called your arguments for whatr they are: Israeli line of argument?
IMF bailout plan not in national interests: Dar

@Pejamistri
You cannot brush aside good questions/solutions by branding the sender as a “know-all”. This is just like @mbokhari stated some time back about Jewish tactics i.e. if you criticize Israel or Jews and the receiver doesn’t have proper answers, then you are a Nazi/anti Semite etc. Arabs/Muslims can certainly not criticize Israel/Jews, because they are disqualified since they don’t have democracy, western mindset and are by “nature” hostile towards the “poor” Jews. Do you see the similarities?
Now you have the opportunity to “enlighten” us with your “solutions”. I ask you about what you (as steadfast supporter of ZPP politicians) think are “solutions” according to the present situation. Please give to the point answers and no snaking around, please!
- The judiciary issue: What should be done, what HAS been achieved and what is ZPP doing?
- The food crisis: What should be done, what HAS been achieved and what is ZPP doing? Btw: I would like to asks whether ZPP is running a project like the “Sasta Tanduur” or is “ROTI” yet another empty “slogan” of ZPP?
- The energy crisis: As far as I remember the incompetent ZPP minister promised to deliver a temporary solution in 100 days. What was he thinking about? Raising the prices to “solve” the problem?
- Media: My claim is that the media has been silenced to some extent. Why has the media become almost silent on the judiciary issue? Who is pulling the wires?
- Presidency: Why doesn’t AZ give up his dictatorial “rights”?
- PM: Why is he only a puppet PM?
- Who is the boss? The GHQ/AZ/YRG? Or shall we consider them as a “joint strike force”……off course a “force” against their own people?
Are you able to give simple answers to the above questions/issues?
My brotherly advice to you Zpeople is: Please don’t play the victim’s role. Act like adults and confront the issues head on! That doesn’t mean that we need to be too harsh and uncompromising. We should make compromises, but should also be steadfast about core issues like the sovereignty of Pakistan and the reinstatement of the REAL CJP!!
I would like to throw a few other questions to the ZPP supporters:
- ZPP’s coalition with MQM: The day is May 12, 2007. On that fateful day when dozens of political workers were killed by the MQM goons, if Bilawal was one of them then would ZPP still have decided to sit with MQM in the “national” interest? Why did it then decide to go into coalition with that party who was responsible for the killing of tens of its workers? Doesn’t it prove that ZPP has always used its workers for political gains and nothing more?
@Amir Hameed
Your question reminds me of the zionists once again the nail of a jew is worth more than a million gentiles. In this particular case you can replace “a million gentiles” wit “all workers”…
“zionists once again” should read “zionists once again who are fond of saying”
Jyalas have been refused entry in Presidential Palace…
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/7697485.stm
when they only wanted to enter the presidentail palace and raise slogans of jya bhutto and BB shaheed?? they cant even do that now under zMadari?
BB special investigation reports claims “Eighteen have been killed in the grounds of the presidential palace alone so far” …….and then they raise the slogans ‘Tum kitnay bhuuto maro gay’
@shirkuh
I wish I could answer simple answers to your questions. I wish life could have been that simple. You know I yearn to be “eighteen stone women” who had answer to every question in this world. I would love to be like you to have very simple answer of every question that disturbs me. I would love to condemn every single politician, all the people who vote for these politicians. I would love to know answer to all questions from economics to military and from religion to politics. I would love to have the answers to each individual problem Pakistan is facing from poverty to energy crisis , from extremism to politics.
But alas I don’t have any simple answers. But I have “jewish” answers , cryptic , complex, absurd , meaningless and stupid. Good thing is that at least there is one question which I have a very simple answer.
- The judiciary issue: What should be done, what HAS been achieved and what is ZPP doing?
Well I think I answered this earlier somewhere, but let me state again I am absolutely disappointed by AZ/PPP about the judiciary issue, I don’t think though judiciary issue has been settled until and unless CJ Iftikhar Chaudary is not restored as CJ there is not going to be any solution. And the fight will go on till that result. One thing I am happy about is that the lawyers movement is in very safe hands of Aitzaz Ahsan/Kurd/Malik and that gives me the best hope of the solution.
- The food crisis: What should be done, what HAS been achieved and what is ZPP doing? Btw: I would like to asks whether ZPP is running a project like the “Sasta Tanduur” or is “ROTI” yet another empty “slogan” of ZPP?
I honestly have no idea about how to solve the food crisis. Usually I try to trust someone who is a expert in his field. I actually think SS is doing great in terms of providing cheap “roti” to the poor. From the political perspective PPP will be in difficult situation in the next election because the poverty issue than any other (again it is my opinion).
- The energy crisis: As far as I remember the incompetent ZPP minister promised to deliver a temporary solution in 100 days. What was he thinking about? Raising the prices to “solve” the problem?
Well again I am not very expert in energy as well, however during 90′s BB’s government I happened to have some insight in IPP units that PPP government was able to get working , I remember there was big hue and cry on these IPP units and it was said that there was a lot of kickbacks involved (again I won’t say there was no kickback involved) , but looking back I think the IPP policy was successful. I probably have more trust in PPP government on this count.
- Media: My claim is that the media has been silenced to some extent. Why has the media become almost silent on the judiciary issue? Who is pulling the wires?
Yes I know little bit about media , I believe that there is no gagging in place at the moment , most of the journalist are just following the policy of “wait and see” , they are willing to give PPP ample time to prove its worth and you will find that at the crunch time it will be the same journalists who are currently believed to be on PPP payroll who are going to put the things in right direction.
- Presidency: Why doesn’t AZ give up his dictatorial “rights”?
This issue is closest to my heart , with AZ in presidency it seems to me that water is very muddied , but I think matter is probably much more than 58-2B and 17th Amendment , it is more about the November 3rd actions and the “charter of democracy” , with the passage of time PML-N is going to exert more and more pressure on PPP to get the November 3rd chapter closed , 58-2B will be the obvious casualty in this process.
- PM: Why is he only a puppet PM?
……….
well sorry for cryptic answers again , it is hard for me not to be sarcastic on such questions.
Ah.. I wish I could have created an intelligent machine that could be as puppet as our PM , in my software engineering I have seen that even the well written application behave unexpectedly in different circumstances. PM is a human being I believe
- Who is the boss? The GHQ/AZ/YRG? Or shall we consider them as a “joint strike force”……off course a “force” against their own people?
… well I wish I could be the boss… wait let me try to answer seriously..
hahaha….. again you always tempt me to be sarcastic….
I think that the current situation is pretty much similar to 1989 when BB agreed to accept the power sharing with Aslam Begs and likes. There are certain subtle differences though. AZ is in better negotiating position than BB at that time however he is unexperienced (I hate to pass such comments as perhaps he might not be unexperienced)…. I think I will come back with a detailed analysis on this later…
Are you able to give simple answers to the above questions/issues?
Yeah that is the answer which has a very simple answer. And i.e. NO , I don’t have simple answer to these questions. Although I would love to have simple answers.
At least 15 people have been killed in a suspected US missile strike in Pakistan, security officials said.
They said the attack hit a house in the village of Mir Ali, in North Waziristan, bordering Afghanistan.
Reports said the target of the attack was an al-Qaeda operative, but it was unclear if he was among the dead.
Officials named the man as Abu Kasha, believed to be Iraqi. Residents said a Pakistani tribesman lived in the house. The US military has not commented.

Pakistan takes on presidential palace intruders – wild boars
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7697485.stm
The real wild bore is inside the palace!
Some news tit-bits:
Asfandyar Wali still missing
The IMF Quandary
…What Pakistan needs to do is to make the best of a truly bad situation. The finance adviser has been saying the IMF programme will be on Pakistan’s terms. He must do more to convince people of this and explain how the expected burdens placed by the programme are to be minimized and what plan the country has tabled before the IMF…
Ideology and the IMF
…I am mortified when i see all the programme documentation being prepared by the IMF with no member of the dream team making any contribution whatsoever towards its preparation, although they love to make corrections to the English even thought they don’t speak or write very good English themselves. When the IMF team is preparing the programme documentation in their hotel, the economic dream team is in the Islamabad Club.
I have pleaded that this has to change. I doubt it will, and certainly not in the negotiations that are presently going on with the IMF in Dubai. It is probably the same old story with the dream team behaving as though they are physically and intellectually handicapped….
Debating the aid plan
…Thus we have been pushed into a corner to accept an IMF programme that will reportedly provide us with nearly $10 billion over three years, including immediate assistance of $4 to $5 billion. However, it comes with a set of stabilisation recipes – tried, tested and miserably failed across the continents – that entail massive cuts in government expenditures, more privatisations and public-sector downsizing, not to mention a further decline in the working conditions. And, of course, the good-old IMF will monitor the Finance Ministry, as if Pakistan were Afghanistan or Iraq. A sort of self-fulfilling prophecy of the militant Western media and unprincipled quasi academe determined to declare Pakistan a failed state….
The Lawyews’ Movement:
Fighting a predatory state
by Babar Sattar
…It is now evident that the PPP leadership has reached a considered decision to bear the political fallout of turning a deaf ear to the unmistakable voice of the nation but not risk the institution of the independent judiciary led by Chief Justice Chaudhry that would function as a check on the arbitrary exercise of state power by the Zardari-led PPP. The strength of the lawyers’ movement and the long march was meant to be the power of persuasion, and not that of coercion. Looking back one can argue that the expected efficacy of the march was premised on fundamentally flawed judgment. Our post-colonial state structure divorced from the populace simply does not respond to mild persuasion. Our elites intoxicated with power neither worry about the silent majority nor the peacefully marching multitudes. Unfortunately, the behaviour of the state and the ruling government – whether military dictatorship or a civilian autocracy – continues to reinforce the lesson that only violent manifestations of disaffection will drive home the need to address legitimate demands….

I think the above is a pathetic attempt by AA for self promotion. For example see this para:
The great savior, isn’t he? Maybe he ought to have let Sher Afghan be lyched (I seriously doubt that would have happened anyways. Sure he would have been pelted with eggs and tomatoes and a few punches but nothing more) I am disgusted the “torched lawyers” just get this brief mention. NO MENTION of MAY 12
Shame on you Aitzaz!!!
@Malek
“Jyalas have been refused entry in Presidential Palace”
Had talked about it 11 days ago right here
The anniversary of Musharraf’s take over is here and one has to wonder if anything has changed at all.
Let me ask a few questions-
1. Election on Feb 18th- Those that call themselves people’s representatives- as soon as the election was done- they have decided to ignore and reject what the people elected them for and now they have professed that They Know what is best for the country-NOT the reasons for which they were put in place instead of the PML-Q and Musharraf- and of course they are continuing Musharraf’s policies if they can be called THAT.
2. The People’s Party is now the party of ONE MAN for ONE MAN and OF ONE MAN and that MAN is a well known gangster, crook.
And the men but ESP : women who are around him have one JOB- to continue to try to convince everyone via the TV channels that this man ZARDARI is competent, caring , intelligent , thoughtful and capable of dealing with the World’s leaders.
They are busy lying right their own teeth justifying what is NOT happening- justifying the compelete anarchy that prevails everywhere . They have NOW adopted a NEW technique.
Now they say that it is the people’s fault that things are the way they are !
First it was the doings of the Dictator Musharraf.
Then whatever else could not be lamed on him was the doings of Dictator Zia Ul Haq who has been dead for 20 years.
Then it was PML-N not cooperating.
Now it is the “fact” that the people of Pakistan are corrupt and are not helping.
And of course the PPP has given a lot of QURBANEES and have more SHAHEEDS than any other party !
And yet there are educated people on this Blog that actually parrot the same propaganda of ” democracy”.
Democracy means Representative Govt. PPP does not represent the people of Pakistan’s aspirations and they continue to do that.
My question is – where is democracy ?
