What I would like one of the anchors to do is to discuss the option of defaulting. Many Pakistanis say that we should default, so why not have a program and discuss the pros and cons of that? I think very few of us really know what exactly happens when a country defaults, so such a program would really be educational

we should try everything possible to not declare bankruptcy, exhaust everylast option before we even think about defaulting, we will be thrown back 10 yrs if we do that. All that we have gained (not much agreed), will be lost and its just too scary of a thought, IMF is a bad idea, but if it saves us from default, so be it.

But no we should infact shape public opinion as if defaulting is not even an option, its just like death for a country.

Argentina is loathed and is a laughing stock to this day because of its default in 2002.

If we want Pakistan to be compared to Zimbabwe (funny even though Zimbabwe is the world’s worst economy, they have not declared default), then by all means lets lose our shirts.

I sincerely hope we dont declare bankruptcy, even if it means food queues for poor people or whatever. it’s just too complicated to explain, and we will never be able to revive ourselves out of this.

oh yeah, let me put it this way, in its cumulative effects, a default is as bad a a martial law.

Please lets not even advocate default. NOT AN OPTION!

I am agree that if we go to default the state we will be back 20 years but IMF is the right choice? Yes it is the right choice if we use the money in the constructive and for the Paksitan but if we use for politians then i think being as a default state is good becasue may be all the politains know who Gareeb Admi sleep without Roti on the Zameen in open sky. May Allah protect our country from all the evils.

Guys, my point is that many Pakistanis don’t realize what happens when there is a default and they strongly advocate this course of action. So the media needs to talk about this so that people know what we would be getting into if we defaulted.

Well, I think the con here is that IMF is being presented as the only savior. I am sure there are other options. For example:
An alternative to the IMF programme
