Here’s the story: Antulay seeks probe into Karkare’s killing
…Stating that the circumstances of Karkare’s shooting “may be inquired into”, Antulay seemed to have borrowed a leaf from Pakistani TV hosts who have claimed that the Mumbai attacks were the handiwork of “Hindu-Zionists”. Antulay told the media outside Parliament’s gate number 12 that “there must have been some reason why Karkare went to Cama hospital instead of Taj and Oberoi hotels.”
Antulay said “someone” could have told Karkare and other officers with him to go to Cama hospital, suggesting that the ATS chief fell victim to a set-up as he was probing cases which involved Hindu radicals in the Malegaon case. The comments were immediately televised and triggered an uproar in Lok Sabha where BJP and Shiv Sena MPs vehemently criticised the minister who insisted that directions issued to the officer must be probed.
A red-faced Congress swiftly dissociated itself from the minister with party spokesperson Abhisekh Singhvi saying, “We don’t accept the inference and the innuendo that underline the statement (of Antulay)…we don’t agree with bringing this case (Karkare’s killing) under a cloud.”
But Antulay was unfazed, virtually daring the Congress to sack him and offering to “explain” the geography of south Mumbai to his party.
He got support from the RJD with party leader Devendra Yadav also expressing suspicion of involvement of Hindu radicals in Karkare’s killing. As his boss Lalu Prasad looked on approvingly, he said, “Two days before Karkare was killed, who had given a call for Maharashtra bandh?” …

At the centre of a firestorm he kicked off by questioning the circumstances of the death of Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkare and linking the Malegaon blast probe to the Mumbai Terror attacks, Union Minister for Minority Affairs A R Antulay sent a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today offering to resign if the UPA Government so wished.
This was his second letter to the PM — the first one, sources said, was an “explanation” of his remarks….
…Earlier, there was talk of a “formulation” under which Antulay could propose “regret” of some sort but he declined to do so maintaining he wasn’t questioning the fact that the attacks were carried out by Pak terrorists but only asking how and why three senior officers went off together in the same car only to be killed. “I have been doing politics for 60 years,” Antulay told The Indian Express. Asked if the PM or Sonia Gandhi spoke to him, he said: “Nobody has spoken to me. If they feel any need, they can call me…I owe explanation to none. I have not said anything which has embarrassed the Government and the Congress party. In fact, I have helped the government…If I come to know I have embarrassed the government, then you know my nature is not to stick to positions.”
I am surprised my friends here have not accused A R Antulay and Devendra Yadav of being of beardo-bent or accusing them of being on the ISI payroll

There are a lot of people who think very highly of Javed Hashmi and PML-N . Hashmi’s claim to fame is being arrested by Musharraf. Both Hashmi and his party have and are behaving as if they do wish to ask too tough questions from the goons of PPP. It might not show to-day but slowly their credibility is eroding and their status is not what it was the day they left the govt. PML-n is no different than PPP- and iff they had been in power they would be doing exactly the same things that PPP is doing.
Hashmi, please grow from the level of a student leader of a third world country to a statesman. Nobody calls Kerry or McCain “Shikast Khurdah” in the U.S. They could not become presidents but Americans still respect them, they are still leaders with insight on international affairs. Kerry is highly trusted by Obama and McCain is still important and influential and will continue to remain for quite some time. Please make positive but firm statements based on facts and arguments. That’s the only way WORLD will listen to you or you too are just another STUPID Zaid Hamid.
biased , as if done by folks like husain haqqani , farzana bari , wife of haqqani , basically i want to say mufad parast, while it was highly critical of ppp which make sense favours NS once again make sense but on the judges issue so much critical of iftikhar chaudry and AA and Ik just doesnt make any sense , may be someone else can have better insight than me but it has the smell of ” someone wants to prove something ” out of this survey , just a humble opinion , unfortunately everything is confusing , up for sale and there is a hidden agenda everywhere who knows what is the agenda behind this kind of survey and how the statistics were altered
