In the face of growing problems of the PPP-led government at the Centre, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is losing interest in joining the federal cabinet, The News learnt here on Monday.
A senior MQM leader, requesting anonymity, conceded that his party had recently reviewed the policy of becoming part of the federal government mainly because of its solo flight on many key issues.
“Our strategy has changed in recent weeks, as the PPP continues to plunge in deeper difficulties on many fronts. I don’t want to pinpoint anything here. Everything is obvious to the people,” he said.
The MQM is the second major stakeholder in the Sindh coalition government, but it continues to stay away from the government at the Centre. Earlier, it was believed this was because the party was offered far lesser than its share in the cabinet.
Initially, the formula agreed upon among the ruling coalition partners was that against every six legislators in the National Assembly, a party would get one ministerial slot. However, soon after the formation of the cabinet, it was not strictly followed.
Not keen because these opportunists probably smell the end near for PZP government and plan to milk this for bigger share in the next government, claiming something like “we took a moral stand!”…

why is the social welfare gobbling british citizen allowed to comment on pakistan and its politics……..heres a fact about altaf hussain
There is controversy over why Mr. Hussain was allowed British citizenship by Tony Blair’s Labour government even though the Conservatives under John Major refused him the same.[12]. Respect MP George Galloway has described him in the House of Commons as “the godfather of Sindh—he is the godfather of Karachi—and he is living high on the hog from the extortion of the citizens of Karachi” and has asked “why he was given citizenship, and why he is being allowed to operate with impunity”.
