The PPP-led federal ruling coalition falls short of the magic two-thirds majority in the Senate after March election, but the small deficiency can be taken care of if the PML-Q stands with it wholly or partially.
Calculations done in the light of the numerical strength of the PPP and its partners in the provincial assemblies, emerging as a result of the March election and the possible manipulations in the electoral process for half of the Senate show that the coalition would have in its pocket around 60 senators including eight from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) members.
