Efforts to get Afsar Din Talpur (BPS-20) — a relative of MNA Munawar Talpur, brother-in-law of President Asif Ali Zardari — appointed as chairman Port Qasim Authority (PQA) Karachi, might become another problematic issue between the Presidency and the Prime Minister Secretariat.
Differences over this high profile appointment surfaced recently when a top aide of President Zardari made calls to the PM office to get Afsar Din Talpur appointed as chairman PQA. Afsar Talpur is currently working as acting chairman PQA after the transfer of Rear Admiral (retd) Syed Mohammad Afzal.
These calls, say sources, were not made by President Zardari himself and there is a strong possibility that he might even have no idea that his name was once again being used to get this high profile appointment confirmed. This had happened in the past, which finally led to some differences between the two offices as an impression was given to PM Gilani that President Zardari had shown interest in a certain appointment.
A top insider of the Presidency laughed off reports of differences between the prime minister and President Zardari, terming them untrue. He said the president and the prime minister enjoyed good personal and working relationship. But others insisted that the two were not in conformity over the issue, fearing this might fuel the ongoing tug-of-war between the two offices.
Afsar Din Talpur is, nevertheless, using his political clout and links to become the permanent chairman though the post is reserved for BPS-22 officers. He is said to have faced FIA probe on charges of malpractices in addition to placing millions of rupees of PQA with a bank on very low interest after transferring the funds from the “AA” rating banks.
In recent past with KAMRAN KHAN in an interview with PM Gillani categorically stated that he is apologized this practice of problematic appointments must be stopped but rest of other PPP Jiyalays dam care.

Guys what is update about Makhdoom Amin Faheem’s daughter applointment as First Secretary of Ireland. If she has still given that job inspite of huge cry from media and civil society, then this means govt will do whatever they want and no one is there to stop them……
