Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday showed the door to a long time constitutional expert of the previous governments, including the dictatorial regime of General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, Sharifuddin Pirzada, stripping him of the status of ambassador-at-large, along with two others — Ahsanullah Khan and Hameed Asghar Qidwai.
The action came after contradictions and clarifications regarding the re-appointment of Sharifuddin Pirzada as ambassador- at-large with the status of federal minister. An official notification on Wednesday stated that the prime minister had directed the Foreign Office to discontinue the appointments as ambassador-at-large of Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada, Ahsanullah Khan and Hameed Asghar Qidwai.
Sharifuddin Pirzada was enjoying perks and privileges of the status of federal minister since 1996. He was though not drawing salary but getting hefty emoluments to plead government cases.
He was appointed ambassador-at-large in the last days of the second government of Benazir Bhutto and continued to enjoy this status during the second government of Nawaz Sharif, the General Musharraf regime and the Q-League government and for almost a year in Prime Minister Gilani’s government.
cant believe that Badmashuddin Haramzada was enjoying the status and perks of Federal Minister for 1 year since PPP the most acclaimed ‘democratic force’ came into power despite what he did against the democracy for such a long time……
there is no doubt he is equally responsible with Mush for all the damage caused in last 10 years and removing him is not enough….He must be arrested and charged for treason if PPP’s claim to democracy is not hollow?
i think this was also a part of the deal….why not a guard of honor to establishments haramzada
