LAHORE, March 30: After the federal government issued a notification on Monday ending the governor’s rule, a special session of the Punjab assembly was requisitioned for Wednesday to ascertain the new leader of the house.
“The April 1 session will prove to be a historic one as democratic process will resume… on that day,” a handout issued by the Punjab Public Relations Directorate-General quoted Governor Salman Taseer as saying.
But the assembly secretariat was not informed about the development and neither the Governor’s House nor the law department issued a summary about the convening of the session.
