While I applaud PML-N and Nawaz Sharif’s actions, many will agree with the following comments and questions:
1- Can someone point out what precipitated to this investigation by PML-n against the corruption of a PMLN member of National Assembly?
2- Government and Courts are still broken (and will stay broken). This investigation should have been conducted by the government. The PMLN should have put curb on the accused MNA while being investigated. Once charged, ask him to resign.
3- If the government asks PMLN to handover the document of internal investigation, will PMLN do just that?
Great precedent set by PML and Nawaz Sharif. We just needs all political parties (specially the one in central government including MQM) to show this kind of maturity.
It was really a very swift action and instead of letting it hanging and taking it to court (where probably nothing would have been proved), PML should be applauded to take the matters in its own hands.
Highly commendable and jutisce rendered. Only disciplined political parties can discipline the society and wor for its betterment.
The Govt. of the day at the centre even supported a person who was not even memebr of the party i.e “The Dogar”. What to expect of any further enquiry.
We should give points to Nawaz Sharif for taking such examplry action. Don’t waste time on what the intention is but important is such kind of brave steps are now taking by our political leadership.
Firstly, instead of answering my argument/sarcasm you straight away assume that I am a PPP/MQM supporter. If you had bothered to read my user ID/name you’d know I am a pathan and hence neither MQM nor PPP supporter.
Secondly, I fail to see NS making one single statement about the situation in NWFP. The fact is that after the restoration of IMC, NS’s politics is nill. All he is doing now is to try desperately to get in the good books of Peiterson/Halbrooke/Clinton/Obama so that he can secure the PM slot whenever the current setup is dismissed. We have seen NS sucking the blood out of all 3 smaller provinces to get hold of Punjab i.e., 2/3rd majority in NA, and him failing to deliver anything to the people of the smaller provinces.
@aimalkhan
i didnt judge you for your name or ethnicity but your comments which were full of hatred which you call sarcasm?
it is clear from your second para that you did not listen to the video/press conference but started arguing against it……you will get answers about your second para particularly your point about NWFP, but also on smaller privinces particularly Baluchistan if you listen not full but may be 1/2 to 2/3rd of the video
once you have then may be a healthier discussion can take place….and no more blood is sucked ‘unnecessarily’ from the smaller provinces!
Yes. And a “Pukhtoon” is also not supposed to know English, let alone have access to a computer and internet. The “Pukhtoon” is good for nothing but the Zia-ul-Haq brand of Taliban Islam and for fighting Jihad for the independence of Kashmir. This “psudo pukhtoon” gives a damn about what you think of him.
I endorse your observation about NSpolitics stuff…..No exclusive coverage of swat etc where common man is in trouble now a days. Here we can see a fulsome fund raising campaign for the restoration of Judiciary but we shun our eyes on the plight of refuges either from Bajoor, Bunair, Dir, or Swat.
It carries some weight when u say that NS is only playing in Punjab….I being Punjabi feels a strong urge that he should move out now and show some courage like what he did on Long march day….We should not be emotional and carried away with our thoughts for an event especially when there was nothing left uncovered after part of media story! Credit goes to the Education board inspector and the media.
@shaz
u should be delighted that @dman has posted your leader Kalia’s speech as well………may be u will be better suited to post your comments there……..should one now say AKPolitics……….u must be happy!
Man just go and have a site search of my all previous comments to know about my leader. Be rational and logical in commenting on any of the post anywhere. This is what we lack as a nation. Get a pill of chill and read what i said in my posts. I know its hard to sense the situation of the people who are running away from the troubled areas. Who is responsible for all the mess into those areas where nothing left now, no education, no schools, no business, nothing.
@Malek
I watched the Press Conference like you said. I am still wondering what was his exact statement regarding the IDPs and the operation being held in NWFP and FATA except for condemnation. He is still blaming Musharraf for whats going on in NWFP but the fact is that Musharraf is long gone and PML-N along with PPP and other political parties can change the policy regarding WoT. If NS does this then he loses the support from US embassy. On the other hand if NS supports the operation and puts pressure on the army to get rid of Taleban as soon as possible,then he loses support from JI and the PML right wing vote bank in Punjab. His in this regarding makes him a criminal.

Our problem, as a nation, is that we don’t just vote for a leader, we make these leaders into holy saints and peers. If anyone says anything substantial against peer sahb (be it NS, AZ, IK, AH, AWK, QHA, MFR), then irrespective of how much weight that argument carrier, that person has commit a great sin and must be labeled as a follower of the political rivals of peer saib or a traitor. But I am glad to see someone reading my comments and thinking about it.
I don’t mind any racial slur or jokes but what I don’t get is why people like yourself are interested in the sexual orientation of pukhtoon (aka pathans). I can assure you my friend that I am as straight as I am straight forward. But if you are feeling the urge of meeting “those” pathans then feel free to go to Bannu and the Southern Frontier region.
This is clear that Nawaz Sharif has to made this move because of the stronger media presence. Let’s not forget Javed Chaudhry who brought this to the attention of the general public, and Express TV also deserves praise.
However I still got the feeling that as it is a tradition in our Country that all parties (except JI and TI) give tickets to People those who are rich Vaderas, Sardars, Chaudhries, Legahris, Qureshis, Makhdums etc, Nawaz Sharif did try to cover up because as I said the Party Leaders do not see who is educated or what are the credentials of a candidate, the Party Leaders only see who is more influential and which ‘bradari’ he belongs to.
But Nawaz Sharif also have a very intelligent and a courageous man, Abid Sher Ali, and I have discovered that it was Abid Sher Ali’s dunda which worked out.
Although I am not a great fan of Gen Musharraf but for this very reason Gen Musharraf brought this condition of being a Graduate or hold qualifications of Maulvi or Alim from some accredited Religious Institution to qualify to contest as an MPA or MNA. This condition was removed by Zardari to accomodate him by Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dungar.
Also just to refresh the memories, Gen Zia also brought one good Ordnance and that was a ‘Hafiz Quran’ will be awarded 15% grace marks in the Govt competitive exams and those Alims or Maulvis who will join Armed Forces will be taken directly as Naib-Subedar, which I think was a good move.
[Gen Zia’s name can now be mentioned without any hesitation ever since Zardari presented flower bouquet to Altaf Hussain and touched his feet in London, because PPP supporters really looked ashamed after this Ittehad. PPP supporters were already feeling down after signing NRO but this apologetic behaviour of Zardari towards Altaf Hussain has really put the final nail in the coffin of PPP}
On the whole a good courageous move by Nawaz Sharif. And also his spoken English and accent has really become fluent after spending 6 years in London.
‘On the whole a good courageous move by Nawaz Sharif. And also his spoken English and accent has really become fluent after spending 6 years in London.’
Great. This means that
1. He will understand his masters better.
2. The next time a General decides to kick him out, he won’t have any problem applying for political asylum in Britain and US.
3. From your so very curious observation of NS’s english, I think you are a ‘that’ kind of a punjabi ….. i.e. you are not straight.
ISLAMABAD: PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif has passed the test and raised the bar of public morality in our politics by throwing out a member of parliament on a charge looking trivial in the Pakistani context.
In a society where ethics, principles and morals have been restricted to rhetoric, public speeches and debates while the real life presents a sorry state of affairs — favouritism, nepotism, dishonesty and corruption being the order of the day — the PML-N leaderís decision came as a pleasant surprise.
It is fresh in our minds that a minister of the Pervez Musharraf regime was caught redhanded while buying BA, MA and PhD degrees to become an MNA, but no one even raised a finger. It was another matter that the fake doctor was thrown out by his party for other reasons later.
The unearthing of Haji Pervez Khanís case was nothing less than a shame. Without going into its nitty-gritty and determining if there was enough evidence to prove the man guilty in a court of law, the PML-N MNA has definitely met the fate that he really deserved. Now he can only be advised to stop writing Haji as part of his name.
Eversince the case surfaced, all eyes were set on the PML-N top leadership, particularly in the wake of its recent track record whereas the party really tried to set high standards of politics in Pakistan. Even if it is a decision of political expediency, rarely we have seen such things happening in Pakistan. So such actions need to be applauded.
On the contrary, we have seen the powerful defending the powerful as a rule — you scratch my back and I will scratch yours. The jacking up of Miss Farah Hameed Dogarís FSc marks was the most conspicuous and recent display of this rule.
Many doubted that the Sharifs would do justice in this case and would possibly go for a compromise as has been our tradition. Such apprehensions got endorsement from the statement of a concerned Rawalpindi education board official that he was being pressurised by provincial authorities. However, the official has been proven wrong as the saga concluded on Wednesday when Nawaz Sharif announced that Pervez Khan was resigning from his National Assembly seat.
The three-member committee constituted by Nawaz Sharif to probe the matter, comprising Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Senator Pervez Rashid and Nuzhat Aamer, also deserves kudos for its thorough probe and recommendations that led to the unceremonious departure of the MNA. Pervez Khan made his way to parliament after winning the by-election from the NA-55, the seat that was originally won by Javed Hashmi but vacated to accommodate him.
In a background that is plagued with a lot of political dirt and filth, which is shared by the PML-N too, this incident should serve as a fresh beginning for new political culture in Pakistan. As it happens in the western societies or has been the hallmark of the Islamic culture, high standards should be set for those joining politics.
A tainted character can be tolerated in certain other professions but those deciding to join politics and interested to be called ìleadersî need to have spotless characters to qualify to be the beholder of the trust and confidence they are bestowed upon by the people.
Well done NS…for such a swift and decisive action
the only leader who can steer us out of current multi-multi crisis
Excellent! Thanks for setting a good precedent!
Haji Parviz Khan NA-55 Rawalpindi-VI (PLMN)
This was a test case for PMLN, which it passed with 100% marks. I hope, this example will set a new direction for pakistan political parties.
Way to go.
Nawaz has to step up if he wants to take up Imran’s challenge on moral courage.
Dictator ko guard of honor detay hain… idher ulti ganga behti hai! lolzz
Good one.
I think Nawaz Sharif also fired Abida Hussain for stealing electricity in his last government.
Good actions should always be appreciated. Well done NS!
Good job NS. We have very high expectations from you…..
Well done to n-league, as i was pessimistic yesterday but credit where its due.
Bravo MNS, Its dawn of new culture in politics of Pakistan.

but i was referring to the principles not personalities……so whoever your leader may be it seems like he/she has the same agenda as Altaf Kalia!
to be honest i dont have time to go through your posts but if you let me know who your leader is that will clarify things?
