If the US and NATO troops continue to “rebuild” Afghanistan there is always the opportunity to build bases from where the US can launch attacks against Russia, China and Iran. We’ve already witnessed how useful these troops have been in rebuilding Iraq; why expect anything different in Afghanistan?

Ahmad Rashid is excellent. I urge everyone to read his last book, ‘Decent into Chaos’. Taliban lovers need not waste their money on this book.
