i don’t understand why is there such a big deal about what to do next. The procedure is simple:

1 – first they should pin point people on the NRO list that are “already convicted” and make suitable measures against them (if any of them are in parliament they should be thrown out)

2 – second, they should carry out the pending cases of all of the NRO people (except Zardari) one by one … but on a very fast track … some will get convicted some will be proven innocent … those who are disqualified to be in parliament are thrown out

3 – now the parliament is in a state in which it has no NRO guy left … for the empty seats they should conduct elections making sure the candidates are clean

4 – with this new parliament they should put forward a vote of confidence for Zardari

5 – if Zardari gets the required votes, well n good, if not he should be pressurized to resign

6 – whether Zardari resigns or completes his term, as soon as he no longer has the immunity, he should be tried for Swiss or whatever cases

In summary, what i’m trying to say that Zardari’s presidency should be least concern right now … there are so many other things that need to be done first

If we go by what Arif Nizami was saying then DG FIA Tariq Khosa will not be restored by our beloved PM, this and many other reasons why PPP is losing credibility, if you have nothing to hide why change DG FIA in middle of such an important case.

If PPP and Co have given space for Military to become more dominant then they only have themselves to blame for that but i disagree with the notion from DR Saiba because the day PPP broke away from NS they were on dodgy ground and have not really recovered from that blunder/duplicity which ever way you want to look at it.

I don’t understand why PPP and its supporters are making hue and cry, you did not defend NRO in court, so what do you expect from Supreme Court.

  • aftab said:

Arif Nizami said why don’t they ask MQM to resign? Sir its not the judiciary who has said that anybody should resign but rather political people of various parties and other commentators who have mentioned that Mr 10 % and Co should resign temporarily till they clear they names.

Commercial Media is only giving hype to the situation. As a nation we should be obeying the Court everything is secondary. There is no reason to ask their qualifications. Whatever court has decided its acceptable. Same judiciary was against Dictator all are happy and now they are forcing there opinion on us to live with Madari.
Media is preaching us to get used to of bad governance and corrupt officials otherwise Army or Judiciary will took over. Certainly with such a impotent and corrupt political elite if the governance vacuum is not filled then nature will come in action on itself, anarchy with the help of RAW & CIA sponsorship is just around the corner.

With these meetings between Shahbaz Shareef and Gilani-

is Pakistan going to be divided up between two parties of thieves and crooks .

If that were to happen- then the people of Pakistan will expect the only power these crooks understand- military intervention.

  • munna said:

    @shimatoree

I couldn’t agree with you more

  • thedude said:

    i agree with with @shimatoree and @munna

fate of the “cases” shouldn’t be decided by political reconciliation …

but these meetings hint at something fishy … as if PML-N was pushing judiciary to do something abt corruption and if PML-N goes silent judiciary is not going to do anything …

judiciary shouldn’t care who meets who … but i’m sorry to say in light of these meetings it doesn’t seem like judiciary is free … it is taking dictation from someone … either GHQ or PML-N

The blade of justice must fall and severe the corrupt head regardless whose head it is.
And it is my firm belief that CJ Iftikhar is certainly is not going to be impressed by a 2 bit gangster-( president) when he looked the dictator and the senior officers of the army in the eye and did not blink- instead it was the army officers who blinked !

The fact must be kept in mind that Nawaz Shareef and his party is complicit in the doings of the Zardari gang by continuing to recite the mantra that we shall not disturb the system.

Just imagine – on the battle field of Karbala what would Nawaz Shareef be saying.

He would be saying that he would not go against Yazid and Shimr because that will disturb the system !

Let justice prevail even if the heavens may fall !

    @shiatoree,

I agree ur statment “The blade of justice must fall and severe the corrupt head regardless whose head it is.” but if this blade is used very selectively and partially, targeting only one person AZ or one party PPP while giving all the Neek Parveen chit to all other parties, military, bureacracy etc then this would also be one sided justice.Justice should be for all…If NRO is worng, then wht abt who architected it MUSH/PMLQ/General KIYANI??Similarly what abt money maundering cases against NS,IK and others?? Mehran bank scndle and IJI scndle???

The justice should be for all and across the board and we all should support impartial Justice across the board rather just concentrating one particular group.

Good conclusion by Hamid Mir in the end that………….

1-Government must implement the Suprem Court verdict

    2-Implement charter od democracy

and if there will be any martial law then all of us will resist it on the roads

but i don’t agree with Hamid Mir’s article in The News today that Zardari is ready to die

    http://thenews.jang.com.pk/top_story_detail.asp?Id=26224

I think Zardari will run away from Pakistan soon

I don’t understand why Aisha is considered an analyst or intellectual? She gave the most stupid comments in favor of her idiotic opinion that the ultimate beneficiary of SC decision is Army. Total BS. She is trying to fuel the sectarian and provincial hatered. It is not army or judiciary which are gaining power, it is the parliament which because of sheer incompetency is loosing its power. Rest of the institutions are trying to do their job. Both Hamid Mir and Athar took good care of her.

When did SC stopped parliament to try Musharraf under article 6?
When did SC ordered NAB not to file cases against generals and other non-PPP politicians?

SC just said that such a discriminatory law cannot be accepted which grants immunity to certain people within a certain period of time. Everyone is answerable and that’s all!!!

If PPP wants to take generals or PMLN politicians or anyone to court on corruption charges, they are most welcome to do so, if they dare!!!
