Norman G finkelstein is one Jew that i respect more then any muslim politician, reporter, academia in the country that i live. He is a man who has spent all his life following the principle of equality and justice, paid great price and sacrificed so much in his life that it is difficult for me to find another person living on this earth who has done the same for Palestinians in general and muslims in particular. He has taken stance against state of Israel and has opened the eyes of many in the world about the atrocities of that crual regime. He has written books that has demystified the myths of Jewish Holocaust and brought in day light the reality of Israeli oppression and cruality. He has stood against every concievable kind of attack from the Israeli lobby and still standing like a lion in desert against pack of cunning foxes and hounds.
I selute him for being torch bearrer of what is right and to provide us enough knowledge and wisdonm that we are able to see behind the thick fog of misinformation and propaganda with the help of his books and literature.
He had to pay a lot in his life, a professor emeratus , who has been recognized by the giants of litrature and academia like Noam Chomsky is now jobless and has been presented with so much trouble and has been the victim of hatered to the extent that, the so called fountains of knowledge and wisdom, big US universities had to fire him just because he stood against the Israeli Sympthizer and biggest literary hoax of decade, the likes of alan dershowitz, and discreted them on academic grounds.
Please watch following documentry and see for yourself what he really is.

Green light for by-poll
Wednesday’s Supreme Court judgment should not be considered NA-55 specific; its implications are wider and would seem to cover all constituencies where by-elections had been postponed. Striking down the Lahore High Court’s decision, which had ordered the postponement of the by-election in NA-55, an SC bench headed by Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry said that the Election Commission of Pakistan was an organisation “not subservient to any executive authority”. On the contrary, it said, the executive authority was supposed to help the ECP in the discharge of its duty.

Swat diary: ‘A new beginning’
During our displacement we learnt to appreciate peace, we learnt the importance of education, the availability of water. We learnt that we had been a bit ungrateful for the blessings Allah had bestowed on us.
We missed our home and our village. We learnt never to be deceived in the name of Islam and Sharia again.

The darkening cloud of uncertainty
Take, for instance, what The New York Times describes as Pakistan’s “refusal to extend or approve visas for more than 100 American officials and the frequent searches of American diplomatic vehicles in major cities”.
Now that’s certainly not the sort of behaviour expected from a client state. Or, for that matter, a friend.

analysis: Drone attacks: challenging some fabrications —Farhat Taj
I pose that challenge because no one is in a position to give a correct estimate of how many individuals have been killed so far in drone attacks. On the basis of American media estimates, 600 to 700 ‘civilian population’ have been killed. The Pakistani government, pro-Taliban political parties like Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam, Tehrik-e-Insaf, and the media are quoting the same figure. Neither the government of Pakistan nor the media have any access to the area and no system is in place to arrive at precise estimates. The Pakistani government and media take the figure appearing in the American media as an admission by the American government. The US media too do not have access to the area. Moreover, the area is simply not accessible for any kind of independent journalistic or scholarly work on drone attacks. The Taliban simply kill anyone doing so.

Why is South Asia so tense?
By joining the American bandwagon in Afghanistan and positioning its troops in the name of infrastructure development, India created enough concerns for Pakistan. But by its collusion with CIA and Mossad to take out Pakistan’s nuclear assets through subversion in Fata, the NWFP and other areas using the militants of Tehrik-i-Taliban, India is slamming shut the door on the peace process that Pakistan has been persistently trying to keep open ever since 1947. With a history of constant endeavours to balkanise Pakistan, Indian military build up in Afghanistan is seen by Pakistan’s military as an effort to put it in a nutcracker.
Mr. Ehsanullah Aryanzai, advisor to the Afghan regime has said that India is using Afghan soil to conduct anti-Pakistan activities. The executive editor of ‘News Indian Express’ has acknowledged the evidence of Indian activities in Balochistan in the issue of July 31, 2009. And evidence was recently handed over by Pakistani prime minister to his Indian counterpart.

According to ABC news, the Al Qaeda leaders running the insurgency in Yemen were released from Guantanamo, although two of the highest ranking known terrorist there, without trial.
Guantanamo prisoner #333, Muhamad Attik al-Harbi, and prisoner #372, Said Ali Shari, were sent to Saudi Arabia on Nov. 9, 2007, according to the Defense Department log of detainees who were released from American custody.
Both of the former Guantanamo detainees are described as military commanders and appear on a January, 2009 video along with the man described as the top leader of al Qaeda in Yemen, Abu Basir Naser al-Wahishi, formerly Osama bin Laden’s personal secretary.
With all the hoopla about trials in New York, not a word is said when top level terrorists are released to Saudi friends of the Bush family who let them go. We are now fighting these two Bush friends in Yemen. They are running a major insurgency there. We have been using Cruise missiles and our jets to attack their bases in the last weeks.
CIA, ISRAEL AND YEMEN
It is claimed by groups claiming to be Al Qaeda in Yemen that the Detroit attack was in retaliation to US attacks on bases in Yemen run by Al Qaeda leaders released by Bush.
The government of Yemen, as reported in the BBC , says that the Al Qaeda terrorists, led by those released by Bush, are really Israeli agents though they have organized attacks against US targets:
Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has said the security forces have arrested a group of alleged Islamist militants linked to Israeli intelligence. Mr Saleh did not say what evidence had been found to show the group’s links with Israel, a regional enemy of Yemen. The arrests were connected with an attack on the US embassy in Sanaa last month which killed at least 18 people, official sources were quoted saying.
“A terrorist cell was arrested and will be referred to the judicial authorities for its links with the Israeli intelligence services,” Mr Saleh told a gathering at al-Mukalla University in Hadramawt province. “Details of the trial will be announced later. You will hear about what goes on in the proceedings,” he added.
The 17 September attack was the second to target the US embassy since April. Militants detonated car bombs before firing rockets at the heavily fortified building.
Mr Saleh did not identify the suspects, but official sources were quoted saying it was same cell – led by a militant called Abu al-Ghaith al-Yamani – whose arrest was announced a week after the attack.
With continual reports from Pakistan that India and Israel have been involved in terrorst attacks against US supporters there and the recent reports that the Detroit bomber was assisted by an Indian while boarding in Amsterdam and partially confirmed reports that a second bomber, an Indian, was arrested and taken from the plane in Detroit. MILive broke this story in the US which originated with Reuters

The real issue in Pakistan is not the Gas shortage but the rulers diverting people’s attention from the American war

Gas load shedding and CNG crises:
The real issue is not the Gas shortage; in fact these rulers are diverting the people’s attention from the American war
The government has contracted itself to erect one crisis after another. At a critical time, when Pakistan has become a target for the Blackwater mercenaries, ongoing military operations in Waziristan, Orakzai, Bajaur, Mehmand, Malakand and Khyber agencies under the American dictate, Northern Waziristan is handed over to America where she is conducting drone attacks with full impunity and thousands of Muslim families are stranded and are forced to live in the open in this extreme cold weather; the government is creating one crisis after another to divert the attention of Muslims away from the American interference in Pakistan. Hence its “danger to democracy” rhetorical drama that the government trumps up at times while at others she plays havoc with peoples lives through load-shedding of Gas and electricity just to keep people busy in their problems.
As for as this current gas crisis is concerned; it’s nothing but a complete farce. Even now the Sui Southern Gas Company has excess production (Surplus Gas) which is not being used. This should be borne in mind that the CNG sector only use 6% of the total Gas consumption of Pakistan whose requirements are not difficult to fulfill. Currently the government uses 35% of Gas for electricity generation which can easily be substituted with low cost alternatives of Coal, Water and Air which are abundantly available in Pakistan. Pakistan current potential of Hydro electric generation is 50,000 MW, Wind generation 50,000 MW and from coal its several hundreds of thousands Mega Watts, while our need is much less than 20,000 MW.
In fact the real issue is not the Gas shortage; rather it’s another U-Turn by these corrupt and treacherous rulers. It was these rulers who promoted CNG 10 year ago and after 2.5 million cars are converted to it, people invested billion on 3000 CNG stations, hundred of thousands of families bread and butter depend on this sector; now they want to bulldoze all this after receiving “revelation” from IMF. These rulers who themselves burn 500 liters of free petrol in each car each month crave to loot the hard earned income of hundreds of thousands of families.
O Muslims!
These rulers are not your worth; their only desire is to please their foreign masters and fill their pockets. Eject these rulers to establish Khilafah that will not only rescue Ummah from these artificial crises but real crisis that Ummah face today and convert this region into the graveyard of the Americans.

Pakistan deals with its devils
Washington clearly sees Sirajuddin Haqqani as the enemy. Pakistan sees him as a possible ally in the exit of the US from the war theater beginning in 2011. The US views Haqqani’s fallback position (read sanctuary) in Pakistan as a direct threat to the Western coalition in Afghanistan and has warned of expanded drone strikes into Pakistani territory if it did not move more aggressively against him. Pakistan’s reactions to the threat have ranged from sullen silence to outright anger expressed by senior establishment officials who consider Haqqani key to any reconciliation process.

Blackwater-MQM: who is meddling with investigations of Karachi Terrorism?
By Special Correspondent
Wednesday 06 January 2010
Karachi: Some elements in the current Government are trying to divert the investigation from its logical route. Senior security sources confirmed that, ‘to protect the coalition partner some senior government elements are putting pressure on the investigating officers to outcome this investigation as ‘sectarian’. That would suit the Blackwater/Xe agenda to further alienate the local population, leading to sectarian violence.
“The other demand is not arrest or charge members of the ruling MQM (Altaf) who were involved in the firing and lootings incidents and is over the age of 25. They are already instructed to go underground. These people might be seen in the CC TV cameras. They are the local masterminds who brought deaths and destructions to the city”, said the source. There are approximately 45 people in the custody at the moment according to reports.
It is very important to find out who are trying to protect the ‘Blackwater Agents’ in living villas in Karachi?
According to a reports, ‘Blackwater USA’ is that they are hiring in Pakistan. While BlackwaterUSA.com does not exist on the Web any longer, I am giving you the link of employment form on a secured page of the private security firm’s website that clearly indicates the private mercenary army is hiring Urdu- and Punjabi-speaking agents. This would complement the existing Pashto-speaking agents that both Blackwater private mercenary army and its employer, the US military, have on the ground in Afghanistan and – as reports increasingly indicate – in Pakistan”.
Current Zardari is compromised when it comes to naming Indian and MQM involvement in the terrorist activities in Karachi and Pakistan. It is time to name and shame the mercenaries and Blackwater.

System on the verge of collapse: Supreme Court
He was arrested by the Frontier Corps (FC) for his alleged role in Hayatabad, Peshawar, blast on October 24. However, he was released after 15 minutes of the arrest for a lack of proof against him. A three-member bench of the apex court, comprising Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Sair Ali, is hearing appeals of families of the missing persons.
When informed that Major Ibrahim had conceded that Mustafa Azam was arrested by the FC and later released, the court observed that the FC had no right to arrest or detain any person. “Whenever there is a case of any missing person, the name of some Brigadier or Major also surfaces. Who has authorised them to pick up people?” he asked. Attorney General Anwer Mansoor Khan told the court that Azam was released a few days back.

BBC News, Washington
The Virginia Five, currently imprisoned in Pakistan, the Nigerian “underpants bomber” whose name everyone – including President Obama – is stumbling over; the Jordanian doctor who turned out to be a double agent with a suicide vest in a CIA compound in Afghanistan; what do they all have in common apart from a profound hatred of America and its allies?
They are all the products of relative prosperity and higher education. After all, Osama Bin Laden and his deputy also came from a privileged background.
None of the recent suspects are high school drop-outs or desperate refugees who have nurtured hatred of the West in the frayed lining of an empty stomach.
None have had to watch relatives die in stray American bomb attacks. They have all had a lot to lose and yet they were prepared to lose their own lives for a cause.
So, what makes the 23-year-old son of a prominent Nigerian banker pack his underpants with explosives in pursuit of martyrdom?
“ Soon a trip on a plane may involve a full confession of one’s private life and the kind of body scans usually reserved for serious medical conditions ”
Much of the reporting has been focussed on his sojourn in Yemen, the mosque he attended there, the al-Quaeda contacts he made in Sanaa.
We have all, understandably, combed through the security breaches from Lagos to Amsterdam to Detroit. In Washington, hawks are circling around Yemen, calling it the next failed state in possible receipt of US military attention. The debate is heating up over which is more effective.
And then there are the latest joys of air travel: full body scanners, religious profiling, departure lounge interrogations courtesy of El Al-trained heavies.
All this may well become necessary and soon a trip on a plane to New York or Washington may involve a full confession of one’s private life and the kind of body scans usually reserved for serious medical conditions. Soon we may all just want to stay at home. Or take the car. Or use Skype.
But the journey that I find fascinating is the suspect’s from prosperity to desperation, from self-awareness to self-annihilation.
I first came across this phenomenon when I went to visit the family of one of the 9/11 hijackers a few days after the attack.
“ Hamburg with its drizzly weather and frigid hospitality is not an easy place for an outsider. But surely that doesn’t explain the road to suicide. ”
Ziad Jarrah was the 26-year-old Lebanese student who is thought to have flown the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania.
His family lived a short drive from Beirut in the Bekaa valley. I was expecting a modest home or even a slum.
Instead, we were greeted by his parents under a large chandelier in the reception room of a sumptuous villa surrounded by BMWs and Mercedes.
His father, a softly-spoken man who was in charge of social services in the area wept quietly as he told me how Ziad had called up on the night of 10 September to tell his father he was intending to return to Beirut to introduce the family to his Turkish fiancee with whom he had been living in Hamburg.
“There will be a BMW waiting for you at the airport”, the father told the son. “It will have a set of keys in it. They are yours!”
Ziad was clever, good-looking and popular. He was studying aviation engineering in Hamburg.
What had turned his mind to murder and suicide?
Did Mohammed Atta, the ringleader in the Hamburg cell who recruited him have such an hypnotic effect on his clever disciple? Was it the deliberate, grinding process of peer pressure from his new friends?
Hamburg with its drizzly weather and frigid hospitality is not an easy place for an outsider. But surely that doesn’t explain the road to suicide.
Who knows what the quirks and twists of each individual mind hold in store?
But part of the answer may lie in the fact that al-Qaeda offers something that the home environment of its recruits has failed to provide: a cause, however questionable, and even more importantly a sense of belonging.
A friend of mine in British intelligence called it “an alternative family”.
He was talking about the small number of British citizens of Pakistani origin who took part in the 7/7 attacks in London in 2005 or planning future attacks.
“They have been caressed by Britain but not embraced by it.
“They feel like misfits here in the UK. And when they return to the tribal culture of their ancestral villages in Pakistan they feel equally unwelcome. They have become nomads and al-Quaeda offers them a tent and a cause.”
Michael Chertoff, the former head of Homeland Security under George Bush wasn’t at all surprised when I spoke to him about the connection between higher education and terrorism.
“What these people find attractive is that al-Qaeda offers them a coherent world view, an ideology.”
Unfortunately, this is one battle of ideas which cannot be solved with conversation.

General alert in Pakistan
Pakistan’s Majeed, a four-star general, was in mid-2008 twice offered the position of chief of army staff by former president Pervez Musharraf when Musharraf turned against the incumbent army chief, General Ashfaq Parvez Kiani. Each time, Majeed refused, as he prefers to stay in the background, although he has emerged as a leader on several issues.
The bulk of the Pakistan army was against Asif Ali Zardari when he announced his decision to run for president, a position he assumed on September 9, 2008. Majeed, however, rallied the top brass, urging that the democratic process should be given a chance and that if the political forces wanted Zardari, their decision should be respected.

US Complains of Pakistan Harassment at Checkpoints

The more thrilling and latest espionage with continuation of above story is here.
Nozette’s case is interesting because of his impressive resume: he held top positions with the Department of Energy, the Department of Defense, and NASA, and he served on the White House National Space Council under George H.W. Bush. From 1989 until March 2006, he held “Q” clearance, which means he had access to “critical nuclear weapon design information” and vital information concerning 20 “special access programs” — secrets only a very few top government officials had knowledge of.
In other words, this wasn’t just some mid-level schmuck who wanted to sell out his country for cash: he was one of the big boys — the principal author of the Clementine biostatic radar experiment, which allowed U.S. scientists to discover water on the moon — a kind of J. Robert Oppenheimer figure, whose singular contributions to the U.S. space program and its military applications granted him security clearances available to a very select few.
The affidavit in support of the criminal complaint [.pdf] alleging espionage is terse, vague in parts, and brimming with implication. Taking their cues from the Department of Justice press release, most news reports state, “The complaint does not allege that the government of Israel or anyone acting on its behalf committed any offense under U.S. laws,” leaving out the last three words in the DOJ’s sentence: “in this case.”
In this particular case, it’s true, prosecutors are going after Nozette for violations that occurred while they were reeling him in, with a federal agent pretending to be a Mossad officer offering him money (not very much, by the way) in exchange for secrets. The real question, however, is what caused them to zero in on Nozette? A Washington Times piece cites Kenneth Piernick, a former senior FBI agent, who opined:
He must have made some kind of attempt, which triggered the FBI’s interest in him. They cut in between him and whoever he was trying to work with and posed as an intelligence officer, agent, or courier to handle the issue, and then when he delivered what he intended to deliver to that person, his contact was likely an undercover FBI agent or [someone from] another U.S. intelligence service
Yet Nozette may have made more than a mere “attempt.” The affidavit alleges that, from 1998 to 2008, he served as a consultant to “an aerospace company wholly owned by the government of Israel,” during which time “approximately once a month representatives of the aerospace company proposed questions, or taskings, to Nozette.” He answered these questions, and, in return, received regular payments totaling $250,000.
This indicates the Feds had been on to Nozette for quite some time, and with good cause. The affidavit also notes that, at the beginning of this year, he traveled to “a different foreign country” in possession of two computer “thumb” drives, which seemed to have mysteriously disappeared upon his return some three weeks later. What was on the drives — and who were the recipients?
In 2007, federal authorities raided the offices of Nozette’s nonprofit company, the Alliance for Competitive Technology (ACT), purportedly because ACT, having procured several lucrative government contracts, had defrauded the federal government by overcharging. The affidavit cites an anonymous colleague of Nozette who recalled the scientist said that if the U.S. government ever tried to put him in jail he would go to Israel or another foreign country and “tell them everythingâ€ he knows.
Perhaps the real reason for the raid, however, had to do with the FBI’s growing suspicion — if not certainty — he was funneling U.S. secrets to Tel Aviv. ACT is a curious creation, a “nonprofit” group that nevertheless generated over half a million dollars last year according to documents filed with the IRS, with over $150,000 in salary and benefits paid out to Nozette. But it wasn’t just about money. ACT’s mission statement reads like a spy’s dream come true:
“The Alliance for Competitive Technology has been created to serve the national and public interest by conducting scientific research and educational activities aimed at expanding the utilization of National and Government Laboratory resources. The National Laboratories possess significant technology, technologists, and resources, of great potential value to growing U.S. industrial organizations, both small and large. Recent changes in national policy (the Stevenson-Wydler Act of 1986 and the NASA Technology Utilization Program) have sanctioned the pursuit of technology transfer from these organizations. However, the capabilities and resources present in National Laboratories are often difficult to access by small and medium sized organizations with limited resources. ACT will research the best mechanisms to facilitate this transfer through focused research on technology transfer mechanisms, and educational and instructive programs on technology transfer from National Laboratories. In addition, ACT will enable U.S. organizations to utilize the resources of National Laboratories through existing established mechanisms (e.g., the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Technology Affiliates Program). Transfer of commercially valuable technology is significantly enhanced by such direct support of private sector efforts.”
In short: ACT is all about technology transfer — from the U.S. to Israel. This, as is well-known, is one of the favored activities of the Israeli intelligence services, which regularly pilfer the latest American technology (especially military applications) to such an extent that a General Accounting Office investigation once characterized the effort as “the most aggressive espionage operations against the U.S. of any U.S. ally.”
ACT had contracts with the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in Arlington, Va., and NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. It is hardly a leap of faith to conclude that vital data flowing from these projects was fed directly into the waiting maw of the Mossad.
Nozette was a key figure in developing and promoting the “Star Wars” ballistic missile defense system. His colleague in the “High Frontier” movement — and the official director of ACT — is one Klaus Heiss, like Nozette an enthusiast [.pdf] of space colonization (who also has some strong views on other subjects).
Contacted by an FBI agent masquerading as an Israeli intelligence agent, Nozette didn’t blink when told his lunch companion was from the Mossad: “Good,” he said. “Happy to be of assistance.” This was well before the issue of money was raised. Later in the conversation, Nozette boasted of his top-level security clearances and the range and depth of his knowledge of U.S. secrets, adding, “I don’t get recruited by the Mossad every day. By the way, I knew this day would come.” Questioned further by the undercover agent, Nozette said, “I thought I was working for you already. I mean, that’s what I always thought [the foreign company] was — just a front.”
Which it no doubt was.
Nozette agreed to be a regular “asset,” yet he clearly felt his position was increasingly precarious. He inquired about the right of return and raised the possibility that he might go to Israel. He wanted a passport as part of his payment, in addition to the few thousand dollars the FBI was putting in a post office “dead drop” for him on receipt of stolen secrets.
Well, then, so what? Don’t all nations, even allies, spy on each other? What’s the significance of this particular case?
On the surface, our relationship with Israel is encompassed by the terms of the “special relationship, ” which has so far consisted of the U.S. giving unconditional support to Tel Aviv’s every action, no matter how brutal [.pdf] or contrary to our interests — and tolerating, to a large degree, its extensive covert operations on U.S. soil (or, at least, keeping quiet about them). On a deeper level, however, the tensions in this one-way love affair have frayed the specialness of the relationship almost to the breaking point.
This is not just due to the election of Barack Obama, who is widely perceived in Israel as being biased against the Jewish state. These tensions arose during Bush’s second term, when U.S. policy began to perceptibly tilt away from Tel Aviv. A particularly telling blow to U.S.-Israeli relations was the decision by the U.S. to clamp down on visa requirements for Israelis entering the U.S.: potential visitors from Israel are now required to undergo an interview, restrictions on their length of stay have been extended, and admission to the U.S. is no longer assured.
In the secret world of spooks spying on one another, the U.S.-Israeli relationship is increasingly adversarial, while in the diplomatic-politica l realm, it has nearly reached the point of open hostilities. This is thanks to the objective conditions that determine relations among nations: in the post-Cold War world, Israel necessarily became much less of an asset to the U.S. In the post-9/11 world, as John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt have so trenchantly pointed out, it is an outright liability.
Our self-sacrificial policy of unconditional support for Israel has earned us implacable enemies in the Arab world and granted our adversaries a priceless propaganda prize — and the growing awareness of this disability is something the Israelis no doubt find disturbing. The distortion of our foreign policy by the power of the Israel lobby is also being widely noted, and this is their real Achilles heel.
In this case, too, the Lobby will no doubt rush to exert their influence to downgrade Nozette’s crime and even depict him as an innocent victim of entrapment. Defenders of the AIPAC duo conjured a vast “anti-Semitic” conspiracy within the U.S. Justice Department and the FBI to explain the alleged persecution of Rosen and Weissman, and the same tactics are bound to be trotted out in this instance.
That is nonsense. The FBI didn’t just pick Nozette arbitrarily and conjure his crimes out of thin air. Their target was already deeply involved with the Israelis, and this is what brought him to their attention in the first place.
The nature and extent of Israeli spying in the U.S. is not a subject you’ll see the “mainstream” media very often touch with so much as a 10-foot pole, but when it does the results can be ominously disturbing. I, for one, haven’t forgotten Carl Cameron’s four-part series on Israeli spying in the U.S., broadcast by Fox News in December 2001. According to Cameron, his sources in law enforcement told him the Israelis had been following the 9/11 hijackers and had foreknowledge of their plans but somehow neglected to tell us. And then there were those dancing Israelis, leaping for joy at the sight of the Twin Towers burning!
This is the dark side of the “special relationship, ” so dark that hardly anyone wants to acknowledge it, let alone consider its implications.
MQM MPs ready to sit in Opposition
In a joint statement issued from MQM’s Headquarter Nine Zero on Saturday, the MQM’s Parliamentarians, drawing the Rabita Committee’s attention toward current spree of target killing, said that an important figure of the federal government was repeatedly informed about the irresponsible attitude of the Sindh government. However, it is regretted the federal government failed to take any concrete step in this regard.

More Topi drama from Tafu’s Gang.
Iranian official says that USA is behind the terrorism inside Pakistan! At the same time, he claims that USA and Co. is behind the opposition movement in Iran! These are very critical and important statements. First of all what right Iran does have to teach us who is behind terrorism in Pakistan although USA is believed to be part of many activities? Sometimes even one feels as if that tussle between Iran and USA etc is just fake and show off! Secondly, even role of Iran inside Pakistan is quite suspicious and many events of past lead to such an opinion and this incident of Karachi might be another one. Thirdly, that opposition movement inside Iran is very strong one and is being supported by mainly young and educated people! In addition to that even many big Iranian scholars and intellectuals are also with that big and quite energetic movement!
http://express.com.pk/epaper/PoPupwindow.aspx?newsID=1100818445&Issue=NP_LHE&Date=20100107
One of the person doing torching in Karachi is wearing the green cloth on his hand – which is sign of opposition in Iran – and i think it is an alleged effort to make those people a party! In reality, people of that movement don’t have any such desire against Pakistan!
Without involvement of internal and higher officials of Pakistan such an easy torching and damage in Karachi seems not possible!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62dDdsAzig0
Current regime of Iran is very dubious and suspicious, one needs to be quite cautious of them!
Situation of Karachi is quite disturbing and i feel that if MQM has seek help from Army and Agencies, it is their right! Main responsibility to find the real factors, culprits and countering them comes on PM Gillani. He should call a meeting with all who are stakeholders or effected in this situation and look into the problem deeply and broadly to find the suitable solution. It is strange that control of Karachi has been given in the hand of R. Malik, who is a Special Person and only forges stories and excuses! Second controller is the interior minister of Sindh who is another Great Guy!
Army action is the last option only when all other options fail. I think this process of killings of people needs to stop as quickly as possible.

This is for divorce by mail by crazy horse. i posted a comment on crazy horse blog but for some reasons it does not show up.
I read the story regarding divorce issue. It is difficult to make a judgment based on the words of mouth. God knows what is true. I am a doctor and I did house job in the same hospital where Dr shahzad did his house job many years ago. I remember that Dr Shahzad Siddique was named as ‘Dr. Angel’ by his colleagues especially by lady doctors and that is how we talked about him. That was because of his good nature, humbleness and modesty. I don’t know what happened in America but based on my observation, this is very difficult for me to believe that his wife’s allegations are true.
I know that Dr Shahzad always said that he would like to come back to Pakistan after his specialization in America. He was patriotic kind of person. I am very sorry that such a decent person had difficult marital life. I pray for him, his wife and his son for amicable resolution of this matter.

Escalating war costs
the federal government is behaving like an individual hit with crisis expenditures but continuing to spend lavishly on luxuries while doing little to raise his already inadequate income. The government has at best been half-hearted about implementing the austerity measures it keeps talking about. True, scaling back the size of the cabinet and curtailing excessive travelling abroad.

Plight of IDPs
The continuing military operation is expected to uproot many more people in the tribal areas. Although the element of surprise is an essential part of military strategy, the failure of the government to plan properly for its fallout is deplorable. Constructing shelters for IDPs before any mass transfer of population takes place and arranging for possible evacuation in a planned manner does not betray any military secrets.

What Iran did for Gaza, I think its better to hear it from Palestinians
Hamas leader praises Iran’s help in Gaza ‘victory’
TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) — Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal on Sunday praised Iran for helping Hamas achieve “victory” over Israel in Gaza, according to Iranian media reports.

“The victory of the people of Gaza was a miracle of God and the Islamic Republic definitely has a share in this victory,” Meshaal said after meeting with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency.
Meshaal arrived in Tehran for his first visit to the country since Israel’s recent military offensive on Gaza, Iranian media reported. He also met with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.
Meshaal — who lives in exile in Syria — is the head of Hamas, which rules the Palestinian territory of Gaza. Hamas has claimed victory over Israeli forces, saying the Jewish state failed to destroy its ability to fire rockets at southern Israel. But Israel has said it achieved its goal in Gaza, which was to change the security situation for southern Israel.
According to Fars News Agency, Khamenei congratulated Meshaal, saying, “The people of Gaza and the Islamic Resistance made us all proud and with their patience and perseverance successfully passed this very difficult test.”
The Iranian leader stressed that that the war in Gaza has not yet ended, noting that “the Islamic Resistance must, with full alertness and in proper ways, prepare itself fully for the possibility of the beginning of another war,” Fars reported.
Khamenei denounced some Arab countries for criticizing Hamas, and called for Israeli leaders to be tried for war crimes.

Meshaal vowed that the “Palestine government has not, and will not, accept any of the enemy’s conditions, including the 2005 agreement regarding the Rafa crossing and the permanent cease-fire.”
The Palestinian government is split between Hamas, which controls Gaza, and Fatah, which controls the West Bank. Israel and the United States do not directly negotiate with Hamas, which both countries consider a terrorist organization.
Iran has supported Hamas during and since the 22-day Israeli military operation, which ended more than a week ago after Israeli forces pulled out of Gaza. Tehran held a day of mourning for the Palestinian victims, and protested the Israeli operation.
U.S. and Israeli officials have accused Iran of providing weapons, training and cash to Hamas militants in Gaza.
Israel said its goal was to stop militants in the territory from firing rockets on southern Israel. But Palestinian militants on Sunday fired 10 rockets and mortar shells into Israel — in violation of the cease-fire — slightly wounding two Israeli soldiers and one civilian.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert promised a “sharp Israeli response” to the ongoing strikes.
Some analysts have said that Israel was sending a message to Hezbollah when it launched its military offensive in Hamas-ruled Gaza. Iran and Syria are key supporters of Hezbollah, which is considered a terrorist organization by Israel and the United States.

Over the past few months there have been reports about Iranians in state jobs being asked to give a portion of their salaries to help Gaza.

The picture the blogger posted doesn’t show the amount of the contribution and it’s not clear whether it’s voluntary or obligatory.

Iran Tells Egypt It Is Ready To Help Gaza Wounded
Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki
January 05, 2009
TEHRAN (Reuters) — Iran has told Egypt it is ready to treat people wounded in the Israeli assault on Gaza and is seeking permission to set up a field hospital nearby, the Iranian Foreign Ministry has said.
Iranian officials have condemned Israel for its attacks and expressed support for the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, criticizing what they say is the silence of some Arab states.
Egypt, the only Arab state to border Gaza, has been a focus for protests by hard-line Iranians who say Cairo has not done enough to help the Palestinians. Egypt has partly blamed Hamas for the violence because it failed to renew a truce with Israel.
Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki wrote to his Egyptian counterpart on January 4 outlining Iran’s offer to treat wounded people from Gaza, ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi told a news conference in Tehran.
He said the letter expressed “Iran’s readiness for receiving and treating the wounded at hospitals.”
Qashqavi said the letter also “asked for the cooperation of Egypt for setting up an Islamic Republic field hospital and its medical team on the nearest point to Gaza at the recommendation of the Egyptian government.”
“We are awaiting response to this demand,” he said.
Israel launched aerial bombardments on December 27 to curtail Hamas rocket attacks from Gaza then sent in ground troops on January 3. At least 512 Palestinians have been killed, at least one-quarter of them civilians, a UN agency said.
Iran does not recognize Israel’s right to exist and does not have full relations with Egypt, the first Arab country to sign a peace treaty with Israel.
Egypt sometimes allows wounded people and medical supplies through its border with the Gaza Strip but the crossing has been closed to ordinary traffic since Hamas seized control of the territory in 2007.

IRAN: Tehran offers to help rebuild Gaza
Western governments may be deliberating about how and whether to give reconstruction help to the war-ravaged Gaza Strip without strengthening Hamas.
But has Iran has had no such compunctions.
On Sunday, the speaker of Iran’s parliament said that his country would rebuild the Palestinian legislature building destroyed by Israel during the recent war in the Gaza Strip. Ali Larijani, speaker of the Iranian majlis, or parliament, announced that the Islamic Republic’s legislature would take responsibility for the reconstruction effort, according to Iranian state media.
Larijani also said that Iran’s parliament would soon organize a conference on Gaza reconstruction.
“We feel it is our duty to continue our endeavor to reconstruct the glorious Gaza,” Larijani said, according to Iranian state television, announcing that along with cooperating with Gaza’s Hamas-dominated government to rebuild homes, hospitals, schools and mosques, “the Iranian majlis will undertake the reconstruction of the Palestinian parliament building in Gaza which has been destroyed during [Israel's] bombardment.”
Larijani didn’t get into details, such as whether Iran would try to circumvent an Israeli-Egyptian blockade to dispatch contractors and construction material to the Gaza Strip or whether it would simply transfer suitcases full of cash.
Following Israel’s war against Lebanon’s Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia in 2006, Iran did both to help rebuild southern Lebanon and South Beirut.

You are great in defining things! I already asked why did they inform us while we know what is going on? Some gestures are not needed sir! Teaching, preaching, informing, requesting,… are very close terms and only you can draw clear lines between them, Mr. Intellectual or!
“We are a non sovereign submissive nation we do not believe in information we are used to getting dictation…”
You are right to some extent that we behave and think like non-sovereign nation at occasions! Presence of rulers like Zardari, R. Malik, S. Taseer and Co. is one evidence of that! But i disagree that we are always like that or all of us are “non sovereign submissive”, there are many hurdles too that are pressing our sovereignty. It is hard to say that we are used to dictation!
“You are unfortunately individual of the same submissive nation…You don not understand information….You only understand dictation.”
Could be your observation darling, but i don’t agree to it.
Well, as i said that that nature is partly true but can’t be applied to all. I don’t know how you define submission? In life everybody has to make some compromises even by the strongest nation, is that submission? You think that i only understand dictation?

From above information, you have shared, it seems that Iran did almost none to protect poor Palestinians! Your sources of information are really great especially CNN which is champion of lies and propaganda!
Is it a victory that 1500 mainly innocents were killed as a result of that childish and emotional firework of some so called Palestinians? It is like throw a stone at your enemy and then he comes and fires complete round of bullets in your mouth! Do you call it victory, bravery and intellect? Strange!
After murder of so many innocents they made one protest, gave some statements and mourned like they always do, and that is it! They wanted to make some other efforts which were denied by another pawn of enemies called Husni Mubarak! I consider both these regimes along with other Islamic countries especially Arabs equally responsible for the massacre of Palestinians! Who is paying at the end? Poor Palestinians!

Ex-ISI chief sheds light on Blackwater role in Pakistan
The former ISI chief implicated the contractor in festering violence across Pakistan, saying “the main role of these security agencies in the deteriorating situation is their presence in the country amongst other things to provide security to the US personnel, but very importantly also for espionage.”
“They are looking for what they call the remnants of al-Qaeda and some sympathizers of Taliban,” Durani added, referring to the US excuse for taking the border areas under relentless missile attacks.
The attacks, launched by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in cooperation with the Pentagon, reportedly killed more than 700 civilians in Pakistan in 2009.
More than 50 such raids in 2008 left hundreds of mostly civilian mortalities.
Washington has escalated the attacks this year, which has so far witnessed at least six raids US drones. Latest attacks, mostly targeting villages in North Waziristan, have killed at least 30 people, which the US claims were mostly militants.
The Long War Journal, a US website tracking the strikes, however, says the assaults have killed mostly civilians and have failed to target top militant leaders.
“It is quite thinkable that these people, since they have been employed by the CIA for certain purposes, so in the overall game, they become an important player and also then become the targets of not only some retaliatory measures but also the anger of the Pakistani people,” the former ISI chief concluded.

Great R. Malik is again in action. According to him that operation in Liayar/Karachi is not against Blochs rather is against criminals! But he did not mention who and what kind of those criminals are and why criminals are only hiding in a particular area or why only criminals in that area are at focus?
He says that in the name of peace committee “bhatta khori” and “Tawan” is being done! What are the evidences and how credible?
It is style of R. Malik that he incites the violence and attacks those people who normally don’t have anything to do with a particular crime or incident, to further boil the situation! e.g. when there was a lot of violence in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, he instead of attacking real culprits started to arrest/threaten poor Afghanis and now he is attacking Blochs.
According to him, there is no Blackwater and are only FEW Xe people probably few hundreds and out of 411 Americans there are 289 so called AMBASSADORS and rest are pure angels! By the way was he so dumb when he regularly claimed there is no Blackwater inside Pakistan and he did not know that Xe is the new name of Black Water?

“You are calling 80% representative of Palestinian people…Pawn of Iran”
I only talked about those representatives who are pawns and not the rest, don’t try to bring all in the same category and then connecting them all as Iranian supporters!
Thanks that you did not say it is 100% although you can even take it to 110%! This is how propaganda is spread by making statements like we have big support or we are fighting for the oppressed people etc. This is an old psychological tactic to make people believe false facts! Now after your statement people would be confused and would start thinking if it is really 80% support, even !
“Ironically all the Zionists and corrupt Arab rulers also think Hamas is Pawn of Iran.”
I don’t know what really Hamas is! Quite ironically it seems that current Iranian regime is also big pawn of Zionists or! Zionists( a group of Jews) would not be afraid of them as they know this Tribe is historically their own creation and also they are harmless although they cry a lot!
This is how Iranians justify themselves as saviors and champions of truth i.e. by calling Zionists and USA etc. their enemies, and simple Muslims start believing them! This is called cashing the hate and emotions of the people!
I think they killed this person themselves because he was with Green movement and have put blame on Zionists and USA etc! Same old tactic.

A senior Pakistani security official told Asia Times Online on the condition of anonymity that Pakistan was also reluctant to undertake a full operation in North Waziristan because that region was not a main sanctuary for the Taliban, as is South Waziristan. The official said that the Americans were therefore told that Pakistan’s participation would be limited to the elimination of al-Qaeda and its affiliate groups. At the same time, he hinted at a possible role for Pakistan in facilitating negotiations with the Afghan Taliban.
One of the consequences of this is that Washington has informed Islamabad that the term of the director general of the ISI, Lieutenant General Ahmad Shuja Pasha, should be extended. He is due to retire in March. A few months later, Kiani is due to step down, and if Pasha is not reappointed, Pasha will be the next chief of army staff by virtue of his seniority.
The military has effectively put Zardari in his place, just as it has got its way with the US over North Waziristan: Washington and the Pakistani civilian government have no option but to follow the game accordingly.

Pakistan not to accept restrictions: PM
He said the US has been told that drone attacks proves to be counter-productive because they only incite tribesmen to take up militancy and join the extremists. “The whole world has realized that the strikes by unmanned aircrafts incite negative sentiments,” he added.
The Premier said efforts are being made to persuade the US on the matter of drone strikes.

“This is not propaganda…..This is about land slide victory of Hamas in General Election.”
There are few factors! 1: How much support Hamas do have today is difficult to judge because there are a lot factors that change and play a role 2: As i said earlier, not all the people in Hamas are with Iran. 3: People of Palestine don’t have much choice except selecting between two parties! 4: Even Hamas like Palestinian people can’t exercise full freedom, they also are under pressures and have to make a lot of compromises 5: Any group could use the emotions and plight of Palestinians for the vested interests! 6: Even leadership of any group might be changed/brought according to personal preferences. 7: and still possibility of propaganda in different forms is always there especially by current Iranian regime!
I think, people should keep in mind the history of some people, who have tendency to withdraw the support at critical point i.e. who first promised support to Imam Hussain(RA) and then left him alone in the battle field!

Interior ministry issues guidelines for diplomats
ISLAMABAD: In view of the present security environment, diplomats would now require a formal permission from the Ministry of Interior through the foreign office regarding their movement in the country beyond their confined limits in accordance with the Vienna Convention.
The announcement was made during a meeting on Thursday, chaired by Interior Minister Rehman Malik, during which he also revisited Pakistan’s visa policy.
It was decided that all foreign applicants would now have to mention the necessary particulars along with their purpose of visit and sponsorship. The meeting also decided that a computerised record of the visitors would be maintained.
Furthermore, officials would now ensure that diplomats are not allowed to travel in unregistered vehicles under any circumstances. ‘We will ensure that the use of vehicles by the diplomats is in accordance with the procedures laid down. Violation in this regard would not go unchecked,’ decided the officials, adding that a certificate would be issued for each of the vehicle that the diplomat possesses.
The meeting decided that NARA (National Alien Registration Authority) would also register all the foreigners visiting Pakistan based on their authentic travel documents. A NARA indentification card for foreign employees and students across Pakistan will also be issued.
The police have been instructed to ensure strict implementation of the new rules.

A timely realisation
Finally state representatives have begun to voice the fears that many others in Pakistan have been voicing for some time now – that Afghanistan is being used to fuel terrorism and militancy in Pakistan. Now no less an authority than the DG ISI, General Pasha, has informed the Parliamentary Committee on National Security of the same fact.

Mighty corruption in health ministry
An investigation by this correspondent has revealed that a decision to quickly dispatch Jhakrani from an all-important Health Ministry to the least important Sports Ministry and simultaneous sacking of the drugs controller was ordered when Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was flooded with information on record-breaking corruption in the Ministry of Health.
The prime minister was told that thousands of new drugs were being registered at a supersonic speed at the expense of the local pharmaceutical industry, select few companies were getting the much-needed price revision for their products, and procurements for various programmes of national health funded with billions of rupees of taxpayers’ money were being made on the basis other than transparency, fair play and best value for money

US Radio launches in Pakistan’s tribal zones
In a statement RFE/RL said that its Pakistan-based Radio Mashaal “will offer an alternative to the growing number of extremist radio stations in the region.”
Mashaal means “torch” in the Pashto dialects spoken in Pakistan’s conflict-ravaged tribal zones as well as over the border in Afghanistan.
The new station offers local and international news with in-depth reports on terrorism, politics, women’s issues, and health care, RFE/RL said.

@jazoo
“You amazingly jump to another sectarian topic which probably you were itching to spew.”
“Those were bad people who deceived Imam Hussain(as) but still they were far better than killers of Imam Hussain.”
There were “bad people” who deceived Imam Hussain(RA) and there were “killers” of Imam Hussain(AS)! According to your opinion first group was better than the second one, but i consider them both equally responsible and it will only be judged by Allah(SWT) on the Day of Judgment who was how much responsible.
But here question is where are those two criminal groups? They did not perish from the face of the earth, their generations have been growing and are somewhere on this planet even today! I am very anxious about knowing their localities, status and roles because these people have been core to the divisions, fights and internal destruction of Islam! I also want to know real inheritors(family) of Prophet Muhammad(SW).
“The first NRO was given when Marwan was allowed in Madina….whom Prophet(SAW) had expelled from Madina.
Another NRO was given to Mauwiah and all these NROs are and were the reason of our destruction today and tragedy of Karbala.”
History is as tricky as world: different opinions, different groups, different likes/dislikes, different perspectives etc! There are differences in historical views since history is written by human beings and it means one finds different opinions, differences, commonalities and perspectives on historical events/happenings. Same incident could be interpreted in different ways using history.
I personally feel that Tragedy of Karbala happened because of two groups: deceivers and killers, backed by third party. If one looks at the events from the lenses of One Group then one thinks that it was totally fault of people you mentioned above but if one looks at it with lenses of Second Group then fault goes somewhere else. So i personally think that it was combined crime of two groups and these groups played in the hands of a Third Party and they are still playing in their hands! Quite interestingly, these two groups are dominating the Muslim world even today!!
“First learn to call spade a spade and do not mix good with bad because Islam is a straight path and theres no other way…”
I call spade a spade, don’t worry, i don’t call so at dictation of others though
I try my best not to mix good with bad. Yes, Islam is a straight path free of sects, there was no sect of all Prophets, Prophet Muhammad(SAW), first four Caliphs, Companions and Family of Prophet Muhammad(SAW): all of them followed one straight path i.e. Islam and nothing else!
“its not possible everyone is Razi-Allah-o-Unhon.”
Allah(SWT) is happy with them of course but in addition to that they have extremely high privilege of being among family of Prophet Muhammad(SAW) so peace(salam) on them too!
“I call spade a spade, don’t worry, i don’t call so at dictation of others though
I try my…”
is as
“I call spade a spade, don’t worry, i don’t call so at dictation of others though
. I try my…”

Its hard for u to find those two groups u are looking for because u do not believe in history.
Its easy and its ur duty to find one group of people which is stated in 33:33 if u believe in Quran.
The verse use article Al-Rijs means they are purified from all kind of impurities and its intention of Allah to purify them.
Now in Jaml which cause destruction and muslim blood was shed from both sides.
Your faith that Leaders of the both sides were subject of 33:33 is flawed.
Either Allah miserably failed to purify them or He is weak in His intentions(Nauzubillah).
This corrupt faith that both sides were good has brought destruction to Muslim Ummah. We recite Al-Fatiha 17 times a day and every time we pray put us on the path of Those who were subject of Your Bounties….and we are not sure who were recipients of those bounties…still we do not know what were those bounties.
Beheading and killing ur Muslim brothers is no more sin because Mauwiah had started this beheading with Sahabi-e-Rasul Hajr bin Addi and many more….Mauwiah himself was sahabi so Prophet so called saying my all sahabi like stars follow anyone of thm you will be on right path.

Who will free Aafia Siddiqui?
In March 2009 two female US Journalists, Euna Lee and Laura Ling were seized by North Korean border guards while reporting for California-based Current TV. They were subsequently tried and sentenced to 12 years in prison for “hostile acts” and illegal entry into North Korea. After their imprisonment America worked tirelessly to get the women released and in August 2009 dispatched former US President Bill Clinton to speak with North Korea’s Kim Jong Il. The meeting was productive and the two women were later released.
In March 2003 a women was also seized and imprisoned. Her name was Aafia Siddiqui. Like the US Journalists she was a women, she studied and worked in America and her three children were American citizens. But unlike the US Journalists captured six years later she was a Muslim and she had no leader to take care of her affairs.

CJ recommendations binding on president: SC
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Sunday night clarified categorically that recommendations of the SC chief justice are binding on the president and any deviation would be tantamount to a subversion of the constitution.
Registrar Dr Faqir Hussain, told The News: “The constitution clearly states that appointment in Supreme Court is made by the president after consultation with the chief justice of Pakistan. The word consultation has been interpreted in the judges-appointment case of 1996. It is clearly laid down in this judgment that consultation has to be purposive, meaningful and that ordinarily the recommendations of the chief justice of Pakistan have primacy and binding on the executive.”

“Its hard for u to find those two groups u are looking for because u do not believe in history.”
I believe in history, how did you conclude that? I don’t, however, believe in selective and one sided history, presented by a specific group.
I think, those two groups could be traced.
“Its easy and its ur duty to find one group of people which is stated in 33:33 if u believe in Quran.”
I am a Muslim sir! People mentioned in 33:33 include both four people of house of Ali(RA) and wives of Prophet Muhammad(SAW)! It is mentioned in the Ayats from 33 and 34.
http://tafsir.com/default.asp?sid=33&tid=41588
“The verse use article Al-Rijs means they are purified from all kind of impurities and its intention of Allah to purify them.”
and Allah(SWT) has mentioned conditions before promise of purification in the same Ayah.
(And stay in your houses, and do not display yourselves like that of the times of ignorance, and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat and obey Allah and His Messenger…)
“Now in Jaml which cause destruction and muslim blood was shed from both sides.”
True.
“Your faith that Leaders of the both sides were subject of 33:33 is flawed.”
It does not flaw the Ayah! Jamal might be mistake of both parties or both were right or anyone might be right! Don’t forget that 33:33 includes conditions for the purification!
“Either Allah miserably failed to purify them or He is weak in His intentions(Nauzubillah).”
Allah(SWT) conditioned the purification with the things mentioned in the Ayah so anyone who followed them is purified and i believe all of them were purified.
“This corrupt faith that both sides were good has brought destruction to Muslim Ummah.”
In my opinion faith that one of them was right has brought destruction to the Ummah!
“We recite Al-Fatiha 17 times a day and every time we pray put us on the path of Those who were subject of Your Bounties….”
Right, this is what Prophet Muhammad(SAW) and his followers did, so same we do.
“and we are not sure who were recipients of those bounties…still we do not know what were those bounties.”
All Prophets and all those who followed Allah(SWT) and His Prophets are those who are recipients of bounties. Who are those bounties in your opinion?
“Beheading and killing ur Muslim brothers is no more sin because Mauwiah had started this beheading with Sahabi-e-Rasul Hajr bin Addi and many more….”
It is a sin and it will be if done wrongly! I am not a judge about Mauwiah or any other Sahabi and can’t say what exactly happened, it is not my duty, Allah knows best what they did and why, and He will judge everyone on the Day of Judgment when all the proofs and evidences will be there!
“Mauwiah himself was sahabi so Prophet so called saying my all sahabi like stars follow anyone of thm you will be on right path.”
I need reference to this Hadith. Sahabah of Prophet Muhammad(SAW) were human beings and they differed with one another but the criteria to judge and follow them is Quran and Hadith. It is true that they were among the best followers so are sources of motivation and guidance!
“You derive ur inspirations from people u believe in.”
I believe in all those things which are made necessary to believe by Allah(SWT), and it is true that one gets inspired by the people, it is natural.
I personally think that there was some fault of Muawiah that he could not keep the system of SHURA quite nice and also he appointed Yazeed as his successor in not right way! and Allah knows best.
Here is one speech by Dr. Israr Ahmed in this context and he gives some good insight into the incident of Karbala and its background.

Verse 33:33 also use word “Innima” which is used for absolute authority that to emphasize.
In other words nothing would happen but this sure will happen or the case….all the conditions in the preceding part are for those who are not subject after “Innima”
[Pickthal 33:33] And stay in your houses. Bedizen not yourselves with the bedizenment of the Time of Ignorance. Be regular in prayer, and pay the poor-due, and obey Allah and His messenger. Holbrooke reaches Pakistan to get a monthly report from his slaves
Tuesday, 19 January 2010
بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Media Office in Pakistan
Press Statement
NO: PR10002
Date: 28th Muharram 1431 AH / 14th Jan 2009 CE
Holbrooke reaches Pakistan to get a monthly report from his slaves – Hizb ut-Tahrir protests nationwide
American wolves dressed up in suits have arrived in Pakistan to get a monthly report from NRO-rulers. Devoid of any self-respect and dignity, with their heads down in humility, these rulers continue to sacrifice Muslims to please the Laat, Manaat and Uzzah of this age.
During the past 8 years these rulers worked wholeheartedly alongside America to convert America’s war as Pakistan’s war. In this regard bomb blasts were conducted throughout the country and millions of people were provoked through military operations to become the fodder for this war. And now these rulers have unofficially handed over North-Waziristan to America and this is why Pakistan doesn’t even bother protest to US drone attacks which have become almost a daily feature. This is the so called writ of the state for which Pakistan government imposed a war on its own people driving out millions of people in Swat and the Tribal region, bombed their houses and martyred hundreds of civilians.
We demand from these rulers that if an iota of dignity is left in them they should immediately distance themselves from this American war, which according to their own claims has caused Pakistan a loss of $35 billion. If these rulers continued to follow US dictates, the chaos in Pakistan is only going to increase.
Hizb ut-Tahrir conducted protests in major cities of Pakistan on the arrival of US viceroy to Pakistan. The protest in Lahore was held yesterday outside Lahore Press Club whereas today demos were held in Karachi, Islamabad and Peshawar. The protesters were holding banners and placards with various slogans such as: “O Pak Army! Reject Holbrooke, Erase US Embassies” and “No more Muslim blood for Obama’s Crusade”.
Furthermore, the speakers stressed that the only practical way to eliminate US influence and stop terrorist activities in Pakistan is through establishing the Khilafah. And the Ummah as well as people of power should work along Hizb ut-Tahrir to fulfil these great Fardh (obligation).

“Verse 33:33 also use word “Innima” which is used for absolute authority that to emphasize.
In other words nothing would happen but this sure will happen or the case….all the conditions in the preceding part are for those who are not subject after “Innima” ”
Of course, if Allah’s orders(mentioned in Ayah) are fulfilled then His promise is surely fulfilled!
“[Pickthal 33:33] And stay in your houses. Bedizen not yourselves with the bedizenment of the Time of Ignorance. Be regular in prayer, and pay the poor-due, and obey Allah and His messenger. Allah’s wish is but to remove uncleanness far from you, O Folk of the Household, and cleanse you with a thorough cleansing.”
Meaning is the same although words are different! By the way, what do you think, is “And stay in your houses. Bedizen not yourselves with the bedizenment of the Time of Ignorance” for both men and women?
“Pickthal has translated “innima” with English “But” that means nothing but this sure will happen .”
Yes, what Allah(SWT) wants, it definitely happens!

Mr. Zardari is quite active these days which is good but don’t know why he is so fond of so called martyrdom! I think he feels that it would be great if he is killed then his sins will be shifted to the killer
He is quite clever but everyone who is killed can’t be shaheed no matter even if people say him/her shaheed!
If he is so sincere in serving people and ready to die for them then he should bring all his money back to country and distribute among poor of the country, face courts, bring democracy in his party, fire all the corrupt ministers and other people, make open and fair trail of death of Benazir, bring real Will of Banezir in front of the nation etc.
It is good news that SC has ordered the start of trial in Swiss case.

What a shame. Pakistani cricket players and PCB are crying like 4th grade school children because the IPL did not bother to bid on the Pakistani players and their feelings are hurt.

I am glad our players learnt a very valuable lesson and it is time that they get rid of their slave mentality of being followers and turn into LEADERS.
At this juncture what we need is to put our house in order, forget India, throw out the politicking, stand tall as one team and play with the focus to be the best with all our hearts and honor.
First we need our honor restored and that would only be possible by building a CLASS A world team.
India knows that Pakistan and India matches are the most viewed and cash rich. When Pakistan becomes the best I guarantee India will come with tongues hanging out and tails wagging to play Pakistan.
There is an old saying that the FIRST IS FIRST AND SECOND IS NOBODY

My children were tortured, this trial is a sham: Aafia
Press TV
Pakistani citizen Aafia Siddiqui has told jurors at her trial that she was held in a secret prison in Afghanistan, her children were tortured, and the case against her is a sham.
On Tuesday, Siddiqui was thrown out of the New York courtroom where her trail is being held after shouting the remarks at the jurors.
The MIT-educated neuroscientist is currently on trial, facing charges of trying to kill US soldiers and FBI agents in Afghanistan in 2008 and connections with Al-Qaeda operatives.
She was ejected from her federal court trial after her second outburst, Bloomberg reported.
“Since I’ll never get a chance to speak,” she said in the courtroom. “If you were in a secret prison, or your children were tortured…”
She insisted that she knew nothing about a plan to carry out terrorist attacks on targets in New York, The New York Daily News reported.
“Give me a little credit, this is not a list of targets of New York,” she said. “I was never planning to bomb it. You’re lying.”
Siddiqui vanished in Karachi, Pakistan with her three children on March 30, 2003. The next day it was reported in local newspapers that she had been taken into custody on terrorism charges.
US officials allege Aafia Siddiqui was seized on July 17, 2008 by Afghan security forces in Ghazni province and claim that documents, including formulas for explosives and chemical weapons, were found in her handbag.
They say that while she was being interrogated, she grabbed a US warrant officer’s M-4 rifle and fired two shots at FBI agents and military personnel but missed and that the warrant officer then fired back, hitting her in the torso.
She was brought to the United States to face charges of attempted murder and assault. Siddiqui faces 20 years in prison if convicted.
However, human rights organizations have cast doubt on the accuracy of the US account of the event.
Many political activists believe she was Prisoner 650 of the US detention facility in Bagram, Afghanistan, where they say she was tortured for five years until one day US authorities announced that they had found her in Afghanistan.

NEW YORK: The trial of a Pakistani neuroscientist educated in the United States and accused of trying to kill US personnel in Afghanistan was due to start Tuesday in New York.
US authorities say Aafia Siddiqui, 37, is an al Qaeda-linked, would-be terrorist who tried to murder American officers on July 18, 2008, after she was detained by security services in Afghanistan.
A jury of seven women and five men were chosen on Thursday, with four alternate jurors. Dr Aafia had earlier objected over the composition of the jury. She also said she did not want Jews serving on the jury.
Siddiqui is refusing to cooperate with the court and has made repeated outbursts during pre-trial hearings and jury selection.
Last week she was ordered to be removed from the courtroom after she interrupted proceedings to tell prospective jurors that she had nothing to do with the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and that Israel was responsible.
A judge ruled in July 2009 that Siddiqui was mentally fit to stand trial, overruling arguments by her lawyers that she suffered from disturbing hallucinations while in pre-trial detention.
Siddiqui has repeatedly said she will boycott her own trial and has even disowned the lawyers retained for her defence by the Pakistan government.
Meanwhile, the lead lawyer for Siddiqui said that her legal defence team will fight for her acquittal with a strong case it has built over the past four months.
But a year and a half after being brought to the United States, much remains mysterious, even bizarre, in Siddiqui’s case.
A brilliant graduate from the top-ranked Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Brandeis University, near Boston, Siddiqui makes an unusual suspect in what Washington calls “the war on terror.”
The frail-looking woman appeared on a 2004 US list of people suspected of links to al Qaeda and is alleged to have married a relative of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the confessed organiser of the 9/11 attacks.
But despite being dubbed “Lady Qaeda” by parts of the US media, she has never been charged with terrorism.
The allegation is that she was detained by Afghan forces in the provincial town of Ghazni who found on her notes referring to a “mass casualty attack” and a list of New York landmarks including the Statue of Liberty.
Then, during her detention, she allegedly seized a visiting US serviceman’s rifle and opened fire, missed, and was shot in return fire.
When she was brought to New York custody shortly after, she was nursing a fresh bullet wound in her abdomen.
The biggest mystery about Siddiqui, say human rights groups, is her whereabouts during the five years prior to the alleged 2008 assault in the Afghan town.
Siddiqui was living in her homeland of Pakistan when she vanished in March 2003. This was at a time of intense efforts by US-backed Pakistani security forces to root out al Qaeda and relatives believe she was grabbed in one of these operations.
Where she went then, nobody knows.
Some human rights activists have speculated that Siddiqui vanished into secret US custody and may even have been the legendary “prisoner 650″ at the Bagram base – a solitary woman inmate whom other detainees claim to have heard screaming.
The US military has denied this, saying the allegation was “unfounded.”

According to Mr. Gates there is possibility that India might lose the patience if something similar to Mumbai attacks happens again! So in hidden words it is threat to Pakistan that India can stage another drama similar to Mumbai attacks to blackmail or attack Pakistan. It is wish of Some People since a long time that there be a war between Pakistan and India because in this way both would be ruined and then those People will clap with happiness i.e. mission accomplished! It is surprising that why did India allow another person to talk/threat on their behalf!
At another point he also mentioned that Al-Qaida could cause a war between India and Pakistan, which means (their) Al-Qaida could be given task to do this Job!
It is very important for both Pakistan and India that they understand this trap and settle their problems on their own intelligently!

You and I may differ on interpretation of Quranic verses.
It was Prophet’s prime job to explain Quran and this explanation was done through His actions and verbal interpretations.
A load of Prophet’s traditions accepted unanimously, are available explaining who are subject of 33:33
Its better we understand 33:33 from another verse of Quran.
When I invite Zaheer at my home and ask him to bring his women also….First thing Zaheer will do…He will bring his wife not daughter.
If I tell Zaheer bring his women, we will have some dinner after that we will curse on liars and Zaheer happened to have a Siddiqua(Truthful) wife….He sure will bring his wife.
When the things goes out of hands with Christians of Najran….They refused to follow any logic…..Verses revealed tell them to bring their women and their children and their Nafs and you bring the same with you to curse on liars.
Allah’s Prophet bring with him Fatima His daughter(Women) His grandsons Hasan and Hussain(Children) and for His nafs, Ali.
Abu Bakr(ra) who was indeed a Siddique(Truthful) he first accept Islam and testify Prophethood of Mohammad(saw) and Ayesha Siddiqua(ra) was indeed a truthful person who has narrated many of Prophet’s traditions with great authority.
Now I want to differentiate between people of God and people of Good morals and ethics.
Though both father and daughter were known as truthful persons but none of them were invited to curse on liars because it was a serious matter….if they had a single lie in their account curse will come back on them.
When Christians saw the pure souls of Panjatan they knew if they curse this mountain may fall on us or we may burn alive…they got scared and decided to pay the penalty in kind.

Why Pakistan will not mount new attacks on militants
US officials say much of the aid has been held up because of delays in processing visas for officials attached to the projects.
But Pakistani intelligence officials say that many of these officials actually end up involved in activities “beyond their charter of duties”.
In common parlance, its means the officials are seen as SPIES.
One example which intelligence officials quote at liberty, is the manner in which US special forces personnel are allowed to enter and move around Pakistan without being documented by immigration.
Officials say the military is extremely unhappy with the interior ministry on this count.
The shaky PPP-led government, for its part, is too busy rolling from one political crisis to another to really take this matter in hand.
On a more direct note, Pakistan’s military has also been demanding that the US give it more advanced helicopters and transfer its drone technology.

The Next Arms Race
Asian capitals will invest in the subtleties of hull design, propeller blades and propulsion systems that maximize stealth and endurance for the quiet hunter-killers. Current trends suggest that submarine warfare will emerge as a growth industry in Asia, becoming a defining feature of the regional military balance over the next decade.
So why pursue a submarine program? Essentially, submarines confer operational advantages that appeal to Asian naval planners. The submarine is the ideal platform for sinking merchant shipping and choking off maritime commerce. With most Asian nations dependent on seaborne trade, undersea warfare exploits the acute vulnerabilities of integrated economic systems

“You and I may differ on interpretation of Quranic verses.”
Yes of course we can, this is our right!
“It was Prophet’s prime job to explain Quran and this explanation was done through His actions and verbal interpretations.”
True.
“A load of Prophet’s traditions accepted unanimously, are available explaining who are subject of 33:33″
I have already given you explanation in this context. I would like to see that load of traditions and their sources.
“Its better we understand 33:33 from another verse of Quran.”
Ok, although these two Ayah are quite different in context!
“When I invite Zaheer at my home and ask him to bring his women also….First thing Zaheer will do…He will bring his wife not daughter.”
Not necessarily! Why will one do so?
“If I tell Zaheer bring his women, we will have some dinner after that we will curse on liars and Zaheer happened to have a Siddiqua(Truthful) wife….He sure will bring his wife.”
What is the criteria for being truthful? How will it be decided that one is truthful?
“When the things goes out of hands with Christians of Najran….They refused to follow any logic…..”
Yes.
“Verses revealed tell them to bring their women and their children and their Nafs and you bring the same with you to curse on liars.”
It is Ayah 61 from Sura Al-Imran
(Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves, then we pray and we invoke Allah’s curse upon the liars.)
and meanings of the Ayah show that it is about women and not any specific woman!
“Allah’s Prophet bring with him Fatima His daughter(Women) His grandsons Hasan and Hussain(Children) and for His nafs, Ali.”
There are different viewpoints about it. Some Tafaseer say that this remained only to the offer as they(Christians) declined the offer before Prophet could come out.
It is possible that Prophet Muhammad(SAW) might have brought people of his family with him but it is not clear who exactly were those people!
In other tafseer the people you mentioned are included but it sounds weak. First of all Fatima(RA) was only one woman and not women and Ali(RA) is not included in the people who were asked to bring with! “His nafs” seems an ambiguous and forged connection and it is used to fit somehow Ali(RA) in this list!
Even if it supposed that Prophet Muhammad(SAW) took those members along which you mentioned, due to any wisdom which we don’t know, but it still does not mean that his wives were lower in status than those who accompanied him or they were not among truthful!
http://tafsir.com/default.asp?sid=3&tid=8404
“Abu Bakr(ra) who was indeed a Siddique(Truthful) he first accept Islam and testify Prophethood of Mohammad(saw) and Ayesha Siddiqua(ra) was indeed a truthful person who has narrated many of Prophet’s traditions with great authority.”
Aisha(RA) was not only Siddiqah but was also beloved wife of Prophet Muhammad(SAW) and mother of the believers!
“Now I want to differentiate between people of God and people of Good morals and ethics.”
What is your authority to define who are people of God and who are not and what is the criteria by the way?
“Though both father and daughter were known as truthful persons but none of them were invited to curse on liars because it was a serious matter”
As i mentioned above, it happened differently than you have mentioned! Secondly, this curse was for those who lied about personality/status of Prophet Jesus and not any other issue! Had it been only for the criteria of liar and truthful families, then members of the families of Christians were at greater risk! It was indeed to judge if Christians were right or wrong in their claim about status of Prophet Jesus and it was not a contest to judge the truthfulness of members of the families!
“….if they had a single lie in their account curse will come back on them.”
It was not a account checking rather the aim was other! and Aisha(RA) was as truthful as any other member of the family of Prophet Muhammad(SAW)!
“When Christians saw the pure souls of Panjatan they knew if they curse this mountain may fall on us or we may burn alive…they got scared and decided to pay the penalty in kind.”
There were different reasons for that withdrawal by Christians as i have mentioned above!

Narrated Aisha(ra):
One day the Prophet (PBUH&HF) came out afternoon wearing a black cloak (upper garment or gown; long coat), then al-Hasan Ibn Ali came and the Prophet accommodated him under the cloak, then al-Husain came and entered the cloak, then Fatimah came and the Prophet entered her under the cloak, then Ali came and the Prophet entered him to the cloak as well. Then the Prophet recited: “Verily Allah intends to keep off from you every kind of uncleanness O’ People of the House (Ahlul-Bayt), and purify you a perfect purification (the last sentence of Verse 33:33).”

Another version of the “Tradition of Cloak” is written in Sahih al-Tirmidhi, which is narrated in the authority of Umar Ibn Abi Salama, the son of Umm Salama (another wife of Prophet), which is as follows:
The verse “Verily Allah intends to … (33:33)” was revealed to the Prophet (PBUH&HF) in the house of Umm Salama. Upon that, the Prophet gathered Fatimah, al-Hasan, and al-Husain, and covered them with a cloak, and he also covered Ali who was behind him. Then the Prophet said: “O’ Allah! These are the Members of my House (Ahlul-Bayt). Keep them away from every impurity and purify them with a perfect purification.” Umm Salama (the wife of Prophet) asked: “Am I also included among them O Apostle of Allah?” the Prophet replied: “You remain in your position and you are toward a good ending.”

China accuses US of online warfare in Iran
Behind what America calls free speech is naked political scheming. How did the unrest after the Iranian election come about?” said the editorial, signed by Wang Xiaoyang. “It was because online warfare launched by America, via YouTube video and Twitter microblogging, spread rumours, created splits, stirred up and sowed discord between the followers of conservative reformist factions.”
“We’re afraid that in the eyes of American politicians, only information controlled by America is free information, only news acknowledged by America is free news, only speech approved by America is free speech, and only information flow that suits American interests is free information flow,”

Blackwater-trained officials providing security to PM?
Monday, January 25, 2010
ISLAMABAD: Security officials, mostly women, trained by the notorious US security company Blackwater, have been providing security to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, putting the security of VIPs and the country at stake, informed sources disclosed on Sunday.
According to sources, Blackwater has provided training to 100 security officials, most of them women, at the Sihala police station. These security officials are part of the special security team of the PM, the sources say.
There were reports that Blackwater had set up its training centre at the Sihala police station, which the government later closed under pressure. Although, the government officials had been denying the existence of Blackwater, US Defence Secretary Robert Gates confirmed its presence in an interview with a TV channel during his visit to Pakistan. Government officials confirmed the deployment of these officials but added that they were trained under an agreement signed during the Musharraf era and that they had nothing to do with Blackwater

Media barred to cover Shazia case as accused appears in court
The accused Chaudhry Naeem presented in Cantt court on Tuesday. The relatives of Shazia and large number of lawyers were presented at this occasion. The lawyers blamed media for creating hype about the case and tried to stop them to cover the event. On the other hand, the relatives of Shazia were expelled from the court.

The lawyers have no right in stopping media from covering the event. Media is a double edge sword and is not only for covering meetings of Bar Conventions. This gunda gardi type behaviour needs to stop from lawyers, they are not above the law.
Al-Qaeda’s shadow over Taliban talks
A former Arab mujahid who fought in Afghanistan and who claims to have been in direct communication with senior al-Qaeda leaders, including Osama bin Laden, has told Asia Times Online that the relationship between al-Qaeda and the Taliban is much deeper.
He said that following the leaking last year of a report by the US’s top commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, that tens of thousands more US troops would be sent into Afghanistan, bin Laden met with Taliban leader Mullah Omar in the Afghan province of Helmand in October – apparently their first meeting in a long time.

…… ”
I think the Ahadith are the same but have been mentioned in many different books, so basic reference has been main books of Hadith like Sahih Muslim and Sahih al-Tirmidhi! Basic criteria to judge a Hadith is not that how many later books have referred to it!
I found two Ahadith in this context from Sahih Muslim!
Bk 31, Number 5915:(Muslim)
“This hadith has been narrated. on the authority of Shu’ba with the same chain of transmitters. Amir b. Sa’d b. Abi Waqqas reported on the authority of his father that Muawiya b. Abi Sufyin appointed Sa’d as the Governor and said: What prevents you from abusing Abu Turab (Hadrat ‘Ali), whereupon be said:
It is because of three things which I remember Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) having said about him that I would not abuse him and even if I find one of those three things for me, it would be more dear to me than the red
camelg. I heard Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) say about ‘Ali as he left behind hrin in one of his campaigns (that was Tabuk). ‘All said to him: Allah’s Messenger, you leave me behind along with women and children. Thereupon Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said to him: Aren’t you satisfied with being unto me what Aaron was unto Moses but with this exception that there is no prophethood after me. And I (also) heard him say on the Day of Khaibar: I would certainly give this standard to a person who loves Allah and his Messenger and Allah and his Messenger love him too. He
(the narrator) said: We have been anxiously waiting for it, when he (the Holy Prophet) said: Call ‘Ali. He was called and his eyes were inflamed. He applied saliva to his eyes and handed over the standard to him, and Allah gave him victory. (The third occasion is this) when the (following) verse was revealed:
“Let us summon our children and your children.” Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) called ‘Ali, Fitima, Hasan and Husain and said: O Allah, they are my family. ”
Bk 31, Number 5955: (Muslim)
” ‘A’isha reported that Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) went out one norning wearing a striped cloak of the black camel’s hair that there came Hasan b. ‘Ali. He wrapped hitn under it, then came Husain and he wrapped him under it along with the other one (Hasan). Then came Fatima and he took her under it, then came ‘Ali and he also took him under it and then said: Allah only desires to take away any uncleanliness from you, O people of the household, and purify you (thorough purifying).”
http://www.islamhouse.com/p/70896
The first Hadith of Sahih Muslim i mentioned above gives one point of view about Ayah 3:61, which is quite possible as i said in my previous post.
Second Hadith shows that Prophet Muhammad(SAW) called Ali, Fatima, Hasan and Husain as people of the household, they were extremely loved by him, he prayed for them, which is agreed upon.
But as far as Ayah 33:33 is concerned, it seems quite clear that it addresses the Wives of Prophet Muhammad(SAW) and it needs to be understood in its right context and meanings.
http://www.ahlelbayt.com/articles/ahlel-bayt/word-games
So it could be concluded that Wives of Prophet(SAW) and these four personalities are “people of the household”.
and Allah(SWT) knows best.
MQM walks out NA against killing of workers
Before the members of the MQM left the House as protest, Haider Abbas Rizvi while speaking on point of order, strongly condemned the other day’s attack on MQM’s office in Hyderabad.
He further said that it has become a routine matter that people were being kidnapped and gunned down in Sindh province.

More Topi drama from Tafu’s gang, i mean if you are that bothered about your workers being killed why don’t you leave government and sit on the opposition benches. They kill these people and then start playing the victim card.

SC rejects report on missing persons
SLAMABAD : The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a report by the Secretary Defence on the missing persons case calling it unsatisfactory and one-sided, Aaj News reported.
The apex court while hearing a missing person case (regarding Masud Janjua’s disappearance) also directed the Secretary Defence Lieutenant General Athar Ali (retd) to file a comprehensive report by taking into account all the evidences.
Meanwhile, human rights activist and a missing person’s wife Amina Janjua, said that she does not intend to pursue a case against any institution if her husband were released.

Ms Amina i feel your desperation and i am sorry to say that the military have let us down in more ways then one, Pakistan Military does not get a high budget allocated so that it can kidnap and incarcerate Pakistani civilians. Shame on them.
Missing persons
The judiciary and the intelligence agencies are once again headed towards a confrontation. While hearing the case of a missing person, the Peshawar High Court rebuked the ministries of defence and interior as well as the intelligence agencies for their “non-cooperation”. The court felt that its authority was being defied when some people allegedly held by the intelligence agencies were not produced before the judges on their orders. In the eyes of the judiciary, this is a constitutional transgression. The failure of the judges to get the intelligence agencies to produce the missing persons in court underscores their predicament.

This is the time for Military to give us a moral booster by playing ball with the judiciary and letting these people go or charging them with an offense and bringing them to a court of law.
US presses Pakistan to sign N-deal
US officials have urged Pakistan to “drop all resistance to the FMCT,” warning it was imperative that the measure move forward in 2010.
Pakistan, however, appears reluctant to accept any restriction on the production of nuclear material unless those restrictions are also applied to India. The US media reported President Obama had pushed for the ban, and his administration had urged a key UN disarmament body to persuade Pakistan to join the FMCT talks in Geneva.
http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn-content-library/dawn/the-newspaper/front-page/16-us-presses-pakistan-to-sign-ndeal-hs-05
Why should Pakistan stop producing fissile material, why don’t the Yanky hypocrites take the lead and cut down they nuclear weapons to about 200/300 from the current 10000+, instead of giving us lip service about nuclear disarmament they should act first if they are so bothered about disarmament.
Pakistan needs to start making independent policies and should not enter these bogus agreements with western powers, Pakistan weapons are here to stay and thrive and we as a nation will decide what we want to do with our weapons NOT the Yanks or any other country.
A growing gulf
The growing anti-American sentiments in Pakistan are not confined to the parties; these are shared by many liberals. The Pakistani leadership has demonstrated naivety in its dealings with the US, with many of our leaders convinced that the road to power in Islamabad lies through Pennsylvania Avenue. They have therefore ignored the counsel of their own professionals. Of course, this has been more pronounced with the authoritarian rulers.

No immunity for President, SC decided in 2007
ISLAMABAD: The critical issue whether the president enjoys immunity under Article 248 of the Constitution was categorically and specifically decided by the Supreme Court and it was denied to former president Pervez Musharraf in the case of restoration of the then-deposed chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.
While the short order in the case given on July 20, 2007, by a 13-member bench, headed by Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday, restored the chief justice, in its detailed judgment of the same case, given just 35 days ago, no room for any ambiguity has been left.

The Powerful Testimony of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui
By EL-HAJJ MAURI SAALAKHAN
Dr. Aafia Siddiqui – a daughter, a sister, a mother of three, committed Muslim, social scientist, hafiz of Qur’an – needed to be heard. For years she had suffered in virtual silence…aching to be heard, to be understood, to have certain malicious untruths corrected and exposed for the lies they were. That day finally came on Thursday, January 28, 2010!
The high drama of that day’s proceedings revolved around the question of whether or not U.S. District Judge Richard Berman would grant Aafia’s repeated demand to take the stand in her own defense.
Aafia’s lawyers appeared to be animate in their opposition to her taking the stand, while the prosecution appeared (on the surface) to be in favor of Aafia being entitled to her Fifth Amendment right. Her brother (Muhammad) was apprehensive about her taking the stand, leaning more in favor of her following the advice of her lawyers. Even Pakistani Ambassador Hussain Haqqani became involved. During a short visit he was allowed with the defendant, he reportedly advised Aafia to follow the advice of her lawyers.
Aafia’s response to this collective concern was that she would make istiqara (a supplication to ALLAH Almighty for guidance on the matter); and in the end Aafia Siddiqui would be heard.
While I understood the reservations of those who were concerned about Aafia taking the stand (given all that she had already been through), I fully supported our sister’s right to be heard, and was guardedly optimistic about the potential outcome. More than anything, however, I knew that Aafia – like two young Muslim men in an Atlanta courtroom, and several young Muslim men in a New Jersey courtroom (who were eager, but manipulated into not taking the stand in their own defense not long ago) – needed to be heard! Aafia needed to have her day in court!
The process began with a preliminary (test) examination, with Aafia taking the witness stand in the absence of the jury – a kind of hearing within a hearing – to see how she would respond to that type of intensive and focused examination. After the judge determined that she was capable enough to enjoy her constitutional “right” to take the stand in her own defense, the jury was brought back into the courtroom, and it was on. (And what truly spectacular courtroom drama it turned out to be!)
The following summary is based on my notes from January 28th
Open court proceedings began late in the morning, due to a number of procedural issues that needed to be addressed behind closed doors. Once proceedings began, it did so with the judge explaining Aafia’s right, and the possible risks, of her taking the stand. There was extensive discussion about the course and extent of cross examination should Aafia decide to testify.
The government’s support of Aafia taking the stand was full of irony, given the fact that the government had repeatedly argued (during pre-trial and trial proceedings) that Aafia should not even be allowed to remain in the courtroom, because of her periodic outbursts and “uncontrollable” nature (in their view).
The First Witness
It was noted by the government that over a 12 day period, while Aafia was at the Craig Field Hospital at Bagram for critical care medical treatment, following her near fatal re-arrest in July 2008, two FBI agents had continuous access to the injured prisoner (a male and female who did not identify themselves to Aafia as FBI personnel).
FBI Special Agent Angela Sercer was the first to testify. She spoke about how she interrogated Aafia on a daily basis for the purpose of gathering “intelligence.” She described how she sat with Aafia for an average of eight hours each day, and of how they discussed the shooting incident and other related matters (discussions she said Aafia would always initiate). Agent Sercer prepared written reports, and disclosed during testimony that Aafia was never Mirandized (i.e. informed of her rights to remain silent and consult with an attorney before questioning), nor did she have access to a Pakistani consular official.
According to Sercer, Aafia mostly enjoyed her discussions with this special agent. Sercer maintained that she treated Aafia with respect and did her best to respond to Aafia’s needs – i.e. when she requested food, water, bathroom access, or when she requested a Qur’an and a scarf, or when she would complain that the “soft restraints” were too tight and needed to be loosened, etc.
Between 7/19/-8/4/08, FBI agents were posted inside and outside Aafia’s room 24 hours a day, ostensibly to insure that Aafia could not escape and to provide security for hospital personnel – despite the “soft restraints” which secured her hands and legs to the bed (in what Aafia later described as very uncomfortable positions) during her stay at this field hospital in Bagram.
The second witness
The second agent to testify was FBI Special Agent Bruce Kamerman, who had reportedly been assigned on 7/21/08. He claimed that Aafia made numerous statements, that she seemed lucid and to not be in much pain. He also insisted that there was never any coercion. He testified that Aafia had no visitors, and that no Afghan staff attended to her. He also claimed that there were occasions when Aafia would declare that her children were dead, and other times when she stated they might be living with her sister.
Following the testimony of the second agent, a hearing within the trial was held so that Aafia could give testimony (in the absence of the jury).
Aafia testified that when she first realized she was in a hospital she had tubes everywhere. She was in a narcotic state resulting from the administration of powerful drugs (one or two she could remember by name, others she couldn’t). She recalled how her hands and feet were secured uncomfortably apart. She said the agents never identified themselves as FBI, except for “Mr. Hurley.”
Aafia accused Agent Bruce Kamerman of subjecting her to “psychological torture.” She accused him of being immodest whenever he was present and medical personnel needed to examine her, and complained of how he would stand right outside the bathroom door whenever she needed to use it. She testified that Kamerman would sometimes come in the middle of the night (when he wasn’t supposed to be there), and encourage the person assigned to take a break. Aafia said she remained in a sleep deprived state as a result of his frequent presence.
During this period she never had any contact with family, nor with any Pakistani authorities. She thought that [FBI Agent] “Angela was just a nice person.”
During the cross examination Aafia spoke about being “tortured in the secret prison,” and of how she kept asking about her children. She insisted that she never opined that they might be with her sister.
(I should note here that Aafia’s testimony was consistent with information contained on an audio CD that we’ve produced on the case. On the CD, former Bagram and Guantanamo prisoner Moazam Beg recounts how the un-identified female prisoner at Bagram, known only as Prisoner 650, was identified as a Pakistani national who appeared to be in her 30s, and as someone who had been torn away from her children and who didn’t know where they were.)
Aafia also testified that she had multiple gunshot wounds; and that in addition to the gunshot wounds she had a debilitating back condition (resulting from being thrown on the floor after she was shot), persistent headaches, and an intubation tube. She also emphasized that she was in and out of consciousness; and, at times, mentally incoherent.
The video testimony of an Afghan security chief (by the name of Qadeer) was received by the court. While I had to briefly leave the court, and missed this testimony, it is my understanding that what Qadeer had to say about events at the Afghan National Police station in Ghazni – leading up to the shooting of Aafia – contradicted the testimony of a number of the government’s main witnesses.
Later in the afternoon, when Aafia testified in front of the jury, the overflow courtroom (where I was seated) was full of observers. The majority appeared to be non-Muslims in professional attire – a probable mix of court and Justice Department personnel (including interns), law students, and a few journalists. I would estimate that roughly a quarter of the observers in this overflow courtroom were made up of solid Aafia supporters – and yet the reaction to the testimony at times was both interesting and edifying.
When I returned to the courtroom (about 10 minutes into Aafia’s testimony), she was describing her academic work leading up to the achievement of her PhD at Brandeis University. She testified that after completing her doctorate studies she taught in a school, and that her interest was in cultivating the capabilities of dyslexic and other special needs children.
During this line of questioning, the monstrous image that the government had carefully crafted (with considerable support from mainstream media) of this petite young woman, had begun to be deconstructed. The real Dr. Aafia Siddiqui – the committed muslimah, the humanity-loving nurturer and educator, the gentle yet resolute mujahid for truth and justice – began to emerge with full force.
Testimony then proceeded to the events of July 17-18, 2008. Aafia testified that she remembered being concerned about the whereabouts of her missing children. She also remembered a press conference in an Afghan compound.
She testified about being tied down to a bed until she vigorously protested, and was later untied and left behind a curtain. She later heard American and Afghan voices on the other side of the curtain, and concluded that they [Americans] wanted to return her to a “secret prison” again. She testified about how she had pleaded with the Afghans not to let the Americans take her away.
She testified about peaking through the curtain into the part of the room where Afghans and Americans were talking, and how when a startled American soldier noticed her, he jumped up and yelled that the prisoner had gotten loose, and shot her in the stomach. She described how she was also shot in the side by a second person. She also described how after falling back onto the bed in the room, she was violently thrown to the floor and lost consciousness.
She testified that she was in and out of consciousness, and vaguely recalled being placed on a stretcher, a helicopter, and receiving a blood transfusion – which she protested, drawing laughter in the courtroom when she recounted how she had “threatened to sue” her medical attendants if they gave her a blood transfusion. During this testimony, Aafia animatedly rejected the allegation that she picked up a [M-4] rifle and fired it (or that she even attempted to do so).
The Cross Examination
This is the time when every eye and every ear was riveted on the proceedings. It was the moment that Aafia’s defense attorneys, her brother, and a host of Muslim and non-Muslim supporters (seated within both courtrooms) dreaded. It was also the point in the proceedings that had the prosecution salivating for what opportunities would come there way – or so they thought!
Cross examination began with Aafia revisiting the degrees that she received at MIT and Brandeis universities. She acknowledged that she took a required course in molecular biology; but emphasized that her work was in cognitive neuroscience. When questioned on whether she had ever done any work with chemicals, her response was, “only when required.”
(This opening line of questioning was significant for its prejudice producing potential in the minds of jurors. While Aafia is not being charged with any terrorism conspiracy counts, the threat of terrorism has been the pink elephant in the room throughout this troubling case!)
The prosecutor attempted to draw a sinister correlation between Aafia and her [then] husband being questioned by the FBI in 2002, and leaving the U.S. a week later. Aafia noted that there wasn’t anything sinister about the timing; they had already planned to make that trip home before the FBI visit. To underscore this point, she noted how she later returned to the U.S. to attempt to find work in her field.
One of the most heart-wrenching moments in the cross-examination was when Aafia described how she was briefly re-united with a young boy in Ghazni (July 2008) who could have been her oldest son. She spoke of how she was mentally in a daze at that time, and had not seen any of her children in five years. As a result she could not definitively (than or now) determine if that was indeed her son, Ahmed.
When asked whether she had incriminating documents in her possession on the day she was arrested, Aafia testified that the bag in her possession on the day that she was re-detained was given to her. She didn’t know what was in the bag, nor could she definitively determine if the handwriting on some of the documents was hers or not. She also mentioned on a number of occasions (to the chagrin of the prosecutor) how she was repeatedly tortured by her captors at Bagram.
She was also questioned on whether she had taken a pistol course at a firing range while a student in Boston. Her initial reaction was that she did not have any recollection of taking such a course, and when pressed further, answered “No.” When the prosecutor continued to press the issue (infusing sinister motivations in the process), Aafia admonished the prosecutor in the strong, clear voice that was heard throughout her testimony: “You can’t build a case on hate; you should build it on fact!”
Aafia testified that all she was thinking about at the time of her re-arrest in Ghazni, was “getting out of that room and not being sent back to the secret prison.” While discussions were going on between the Afghans and Americans, Aafia was searching for a way out. She repeated her assertion that she startled one of the soldiers who hollered, “She’s free! – before shooting her.
Aafia also elicited an approving reaction in the courtroom when she opined, in reaction to the government’s narration of events, she could not believe a soldier would be so irresponsible as to leave his M4 rifle on the floor unsecured.
In response to government questioning she again took the opportunity to strongly rebuke Agent Kamerman, while rejecting most of his testimony revisited by the prosecutor.
Aafia spoke highly of a number of nurses (and a doctor) who took care of her at Bagram. There was one nurse in particular that Aafia promised to mention favorably if she ever wrote a book. She then produced laughter in the courtroom again when she stated, “Since I don’t think I’m going to write a book, I’m mentioning her now.”
One of the most powerful and revealing moments in the testimony was when she spoke about the people who systematically abused her in the “secret prison” – denouncing them as “fake Americans, not real Americans.” (Because of the way their actions both violated and damaged America’s image!)
She spoke again, under cross examination, about the strong pain medication she was on, and some of the effects this medication had on her.
Aafia also mentioned how she was instructed to translate and copy something from a book while she was secretly imprisoned. During the course of this testimony which repeatedly drew the ire of an increasingly frustrated prosecutor, Aafia noted how she can now understand how people can be framed (for crimes they are not guilty of).
At this point in the proceedings, the judge ordered a brief recess. Clearly the government had thought that they would be able to control and manipulate Aafia in manner that would work in their favor; this ended up being a MAJOR MISCALCULATION. The purpose of this break in the proceedings, in my humble opinion, was to allow the prosecutor to regain her composure, and consult with fellow prosecutors for a more effective line of attack.
When testimony resumed, Aafia spoke of how she was often forced-fed information from one group of persons at the secret prison, and then made to regurgitate the same information before a different group of inquisitors. While it was presented to her as a type of “game,” she spoke of how she would be “punished” if she got something wrong.
On defense cross, Aafia was shown pictures and asked to identify herself in them. She reluctantly did so, but with a little levity, citing how unattractive and immodest the photos were.
I could not see the photos from the overflow courtroom where I was sitting, but I assume that these were the photos of an un-covered, emaciated and emotionally disfigured Aafia Siddiqui – after her horrific ordeal at the hands of American terrorists.
A final note: I sincerely believe that Aafia Siddiqui’s time spent on the witness stand on January 28th was a cathartic experience for her – but one that the prosecution, in retrospect, now deeply regrets. For any truly objective and fair-minded person who witnessed that day’s proceedings, the U.S Government’s case against Aafia Siddiqui was exposed for what it always was…a horrific and profoundly tragic miscarriage of justice!
Karachi ethnic clashes ‘kill 12′
The latest spate of killings started when ethnic Pashtun activists working for the Awami National Party (ANP) were attacked by unknown gunmen on Friday.
The Karachi chief of the ANP, Shahid Syed, blamed activists loyal to the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) for the attack.
Last month, MQM activists were blamed for carrying out similar attacks against ethnic Baloch residents in Karachi.

Taliban take on the US’s surge
“Washington has to focus on out-of-box thinking to resolve this conflict in Afghanistan,” a Kabul-based contact told Asia Times Online on the condition of anonymity. “The Americans desperately want an exit strategy but they cannot announce it outright because if they did so, the Taliban would overrun any government they left behind. The Americans aim to invite the Taliban to join the political process, but the bitter fact is that the Taliban do not believe in elections at all. They want the reinstatement of their Islamic Emirate that was dissolved by the Americans in 2001. Despite all the military engagement, the Taliban’s strength is growing and the losses of the Western coalition are increasing,” the contact said.
