Very serious show and nicely done. The amazing part is how well versed the public is about the global issues and how they can formulate and articulate their thoughts. A while back, may be around obama’s election time, Gen. Hameed Gul wrote a paper on Obama’s in the white house. Both Talat’s and Mushahid’s views are very similar to Gen. Hameed Gul’s paper.
What an amazing program from Dunya and Dr Pirzada…Congratulations! …powerful, interesting and to the point…without the sensationalism, the hyperbole, the usual knee jerk Anti-Americanism which has become so familiar a pattern on Pakistani tv…this is a serious analysis, a debate worth watching…enjoyed every bit…Talat is great and so is Mushahid and Dr Pirzada was soooo right in describing them as two poles of Pakistani mind and “Shaoor”..how they agree and disagree on issues..the most interesting moments come when they disagree on the significance of Obama’s Cairo address to the Muslim world..and Talat gives it a very interesting spin…it was directed towards the Arab potentates..also when they disagree on the future of Afghanistan surge and its possible impact on Obama Presidency…the ending lines are almost prophetic…when Talat says that Obama’s future is in the hands of McChrystal and Mullah Omar….
Excellent Program…Amazing discussion…Dunya is becoming a challenge for GEO….
@mango…and I fully agree with you mango, that public and that too common folks on streets, even women who are obviously house wives seem to be so aware of the issues of American Politics….Pakistanis seem to be aware of that in American faces may change but system is permanent and policies are controlled by Pentagon, by lobbies and think tanks…I feel so good that Pakistani public is becoming so aware of the realities.. or this was an Islamabad factor? …what to do you think mango?
Very good show, and uncut analysis presented, whats happenning with us. Where are these PPP benificiaries today? Who don’t get tired to support PPP policies, it seems this national interest issue is not important for them!! Only seat is important for them, and for that they can do anything, even finish Pakistan.
comments are suggesting that the program is a must watch…..so i am downloading and will watch as i get time. Thanks for all commentators for making it easy to choose what to watch and what must be avoided.
Good program and great discusion by all three Moeed, talat and Mushaid.
On the whole I agree with them with few exceptions. Talat said Hillary PR
charm offensive in Pakistan was not due to shift in Obama strategy but it
Was more to accomodate surge. If that’s the case why she did same in India, Africa and
Japan, S Korea etc there was no surge there.
@Time…..good argument, Talat is articulate but he has gone overboard, in this respect Mushahid was right this indeed had to do with the new Obama thinking which Moeed Pirzada referred to as Obama factor…Obama is not Bush, he is essentially human and we cannot ignore this aspect in his assessment…
It was wrong to pin any hopes on Obama. He is an American President and will do what is good for America and its public. There are 190 countries in this world, why should they be worried about Pakistan or the Muslim world? Also an American President for the first few years cannot do much on foreign policy as he is trying to consolidate his position domestically. This foreign policy is usually addressed in the second term of a Presidency, if there is any.
Conclusion is that one of the most capable/competant presidents of a powerful nation in the world is unable to deliver (for the last one one year) as his country’s establishment is much more powerful to confront him or compel him for compromises, hmmm…. cool.
I don’t understand that where was our establishment when Zardari and his band of tuggs were messing around with the integrity of our beloved country for the last two years. We all shoud be greatful to supreame court for tackling this evil.
Zalmay, in other words it also helps us to understand the superficiality of the Pakistani arguements against Establishment…because every country has an establishment that prevents sudden change by one political group in a new direction?
Brilliant brilliant brilliant! Mushahid Hussain’s analysis of US foreign policy and Talat Hussain’s of President Obama’s speech in Ankara was beautiful. Im surprised that the present government is not utilising the services of a foreign policy wizard such as Mushahid Hussain (who also has tremendous credibility in the world of American politics).
very interesting debate!
Bottom line is that he failed to deliver. period!

Hind site 20 20. It is always interesting to go back a bit in the history and review things.
His crystal ball was showing what we are seeing today.
