Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has announced the formal withdrawal of the two suspended presidential notifications Wednesday following his meeting with Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry at the Prime Minister House.
Briefing the media here, Prime Minister Gilani said the government has also decided to elevate Justice Saqib Nisar and Justice Asif Khosa to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, while Justice Khalil Ramday will be appointed as an ad-hoc judge in the apex court.
A notification in this regard will be issued anytime today, he announced.
He further said Justice Khawaja Sharif will continue to work as the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court.
Gilani said the decision has been taken in the best interest of nation, country, political forces and the democratic system.

what did CJ had to loose in this bargain?
This is certainly going to annoy some judicial cum political activists who were hoping the logical end of this crisis ‘d be having ideally Imran Khan or at the minimum Nawaz Sharif in PM house. I am anxious how geo will analyze this drop seen. So far they had evenly spread their eggs in two baskets, Judicary and GHQ. Now I suspect they will move all of them to last glimmer of hope – GHQ.
I am hoping these state institutions will set aside power struggle for few months and work in harmony to tackle core issues terrorism, inflation, unemployment, water, power etc
I still don’t see Swiss cases being opened or Chairman NAB being replaced. So this is just a temporary ceasefire.
I hope the government begins to provide basic needs at affordable prices to the common man and a way of increasing they popularity because up till now they governance has been very poor or rather non existent.
It has been this government’s track record to recede from it’s stance on many different issues , put forward by this government ,contradictory to the norm and logic as well as law. This issue is another of the kind.
We still dont know what judiciary had to loose, if any thing, in these negotiations but one thing is for sure, if judiciary has compromised on the list of judges for Lahore high court, one of the major reasons behind this whole fiasco, Judiciary’s credibility comes under question.
NS wanted to get out of the cloak of friendly oppostion party and he needed the excuse to do so. This crisis has provided him with that very oppertunity , otherwise i dont think he was betting on acheiving anything significant out of this issue. He knows, from past, that PPP government can go to a certain extent against judiciary, they will never cross the point of no return.
Only time will tell what compromise judiciary had to come to. I would be greatly disappointed if CJ had to compromise on the lists because, if these lists were of honest and deservent Judges then any compormise either on the lists or on the cases against Zardari/NRO is against the very soul of independent judiciary.
I think CJ made PM realise the depth of this dark pit that PPP was about to fall in due to the stupidity of Zardari. I hope this is the only reason why the notifications are taken back and not because of any compromise.

Is Pakistan somebody’s private property that whenever they feel like they can issue illegal and useless notifications and when they realize that as usual they have made yet another blunder they back track from it. Is somebody going to pay for this blunder? Hopefully Gillani has not taken assurances from Choudry not to follow up this mess any more and to put a lid on issue. Hope this matter is taken up deeply and found out who made this blunder which put the whole country in turmoil. For God sake people, this is not a small 4 to 5 man company that is being run where mistakes are made and mistakes rectified without much fuss, this is country which is at stake. Such MF’s (if you people know what i mean) are these so called leaders.

Resentment in PPP ranks
The PPP members were unhappy over the importance being given to the advice of three lawyers — Law Minister Babar Awan, Senate Chairman Farooq Naek and former attorney general Latif Khosa – on the issue despite the fact that they had already embarrassed the government on the issue of the judges’ reinstatement in the past.
According to inside sources, President Zardari issued the controversial notifications regarding elevation of Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khawaja Mohammad Sharif to the Supreme Court and appointment of Justice Saqib Nisar as the acting LHC chief justice last week after a series of consultations with Farooq Naek, the moment he returned home from Brussels, Babar Awan and Latif Khosa. These consultations took place on Wednesday and then on Friday.

I would be more worried about Aitzaz giving the government advice because whether you like him or not he is a competent liar.
There is no compromise from CJ’s part. PM acted as a gate-crasher a night before and put CJ in tight spot to accept PM’s invitation for a meeting. This govt is such a mess that it cannot have it’s any decision implemented and as it is said time and again, “100 jotay kha kar 100 piyaz bhee khatay hain”. Their jota job just finished so they will eat piyaz for some time before we see another episode of stupidity. Now even a mouth wash can’t free them from the stench. It will only happen if they fire khota, hewaan and khalnaik which btw will never happen until bigger khota is occupying the presidency.
When will the government learn? I guess with this leadership along with their dirt bags: never!

What you are saying is something along the lines of CJ taking revolutionary steps and at this stage when so much damage has been done over the last 63 years i don’t think that is going to happen. The concept of Independent judiciary is in its infancy so the name of the game here is slowly but surely. CJ has got from this battle what he wanted and his institute is in a more powerful position and has further consolidated they position, i disagree respectfully that he has compromised.

@Nota, what is your point,? At this stage of the game, no one in Pakistan can afford to destabilize the so called “democratic” setup. CJ has gained my respect by showing that he is not like a dictator, he is a man who is willing to meet you in the middle, if that will overt the street fights and civil unrest unleashed by the family and ethnic Mafia goons.
The government was trying to portray the CJ as an egotistic person who takes his personal stand as the matter of power and showing his judiciary mussel. No one in Pakistan and including myself wants to create more problems in a country, which already has enough of them. CJ also knows the alternative to PPPP and the friendly position is PMLN and the friendly position.
Now the ball is back in the PPPP’s court, after several clean bolds , they have to think twice before taking or try to take, the Mafia style aggressive unconstitutional steps.

Some people are not happy over ceasefire, rather they are badly frustrated. I again and again said that its a clash between two persons–Zardari and Ch Iftikhar. Who is the loser? To my understanding, CJ is the big loser as he visited PM. Politically Zardari wins as CJ took a U turn.
1) Where Nawaz stands in new situation now? As he was threatening another long march. NAB has opened money laundering cases against him.
2) What JI will do as its top leadership was planning to march in Islamabad after Friday pray.
3) Where confused Imran stands?
4) What will be next breaking news on media? As Jang/GEO played a dirty role in all this mess.
5) What about lawyers protest, who like to dance in protest.
Atizaz played a major role, and convinced CJ to visit PM. He again proved that he is useful and loyal to his party.
This ceasefire is temporary. Zardari is a Sindhi “wadera” who never forgives his enemy. He will attack CJ again. Lets wait and see when it will happen.

کسی بھی طرح ہل نہیں رہا تھا میاں صاحب اور بی بی اپنا ووٹ بنک ہونے کے باوجود پاکستان نہیں آ رہے تھے پھر مشرف کے سامنے ایک بندہ ڈٹ گیا جس کا نام افتخار چودھری ہے . پورے ملک کے لوگ بپھرے ھوۓ تھے اور سیاستدانوں کے پاس سنہری موقع تھا مشرف کو سبق سنانے کا لیکن ہوا کیا ہر کوئی اپنے اپنے فائدے میں لگ گیا اسی دوران ١٢ می بھی ہوا ایم کیو ایم سے نجات کا فیصلہ ہوا ، بی بی کی مشرف سے ملاقاتیں ، بی بی کا قتل،زرداری کی واپسی وڈی کرنے توڑنے وڈی کرنے توڑنے روز روز کی مصیبت اگر قانون ہوتا تو یہ بندہ زرداری کبھی صدر بن ہی نہ سکتا تھا . سیاستداں پھر سے اپنا عتماد کھونے لگے فوج جو دبکی بیٹھی اس نے بھی کہا خبردار اگر کسی نے مشرف کی طرف دیکھا اور سلامی دے کر اپنے کمانڈوز کے ساتھ لندن بھیج دیا . سپریم کورٹ نے جس چیز کو بھی ہاتھ لگایا حکومت نے احکامات ماننے سے انکار کیا کچھ سپریم کورٹ کو بھی میڈیا میں رہنے کا چسکا ہو گیا یا ہمارے میڈیا میں ڈرائنگ روم والے انکر زیادہ ہو گئے ہیں آج کل سارے چینلز پر جو ہلاتے حاضرہ کے پرگرام ہیں انکی تعداد بھی ٥٠ تک ہو گی ہے جہاں مختلف پارٹیوں نے اپنے لوگ گھسیڑ دے ہیں پتا ہی نہیں لگتا کون سچ اور کون جھوٹ بول رہا ہے.
پارلیمنٹ نے آج تک کوئی بھی مثلا حل نہیں کیا جو بھی حل ہوا ہے زور سے یا دو بروں کے ملنے سے باقی تو ٣٠٠-٤٠٠ بس مفت کھ کھا رہے ہیں

The controversy over the appointments of judges is over for the time being.However the larger question as to how the judges of the superior courts should be appointed still remains to be resolved.I think the appointment of judges is a very sensitive matter and a single person like the chief justice cannot be allowed to become a dictator and have the freedom to pick and choose judges according to his personal likes and dislikes.This could prove disastrous in the long run.We should try to follow the US example where the judges are selected and appointed by a senate committee.One hopes that the committee working under Raza Rabbani and entrusted with with the task of restoring the constitution into its original shape comes up with a satisfactory and long lasting solution on this matter.The judges ought to be appointed in a democratic and transparent manner.

LHC additional judges to take oath tomorrow
The oath taking ceremony of new judges will be held tomorrow. The number of LHC judges has reached to 44 whereas 16 posts are still vacant.

SC hears judges’ appointment delay cases
The Supreme Court on Thursday has dismissed hearing of all the seven pleas filed against delay in judges’ appointment in the superior judiciary, Aaj News reported.
Akram Sheikh Advocate, the lawyer of Nadeem Ahmed said 31 judges have been appointed but still there are several vacant posts.
Attorney General Mansoor Khan submitted his written reply in the court and in his remarks said that petitions filed in judges’ case are based on ill- intention.

Check n balance should be also implementated on the grants coming into the country. $2.6 billion was received by Pakistan from FODP in the ongoing fiscal year. This money must be utlised in the right places as these are hefty amounts which can really boomb the growth of Pakistan. I believe more focus should be on this rather than selective justice.

I think this whole thing was created by PPP for giving message to PMLN to hold their horses before threatening Govt. because for last two or three months PMLN was going out of control and threatening to bring people to the street against Govt. so I think they created this story and showing their street power soon after this crisis started and in places like Lahore which is PMLN stronghold they burn Nawaz Sharif’s pupit to show their strength as well and next day as we saw even PM Gillani’s speech also gave a big blow to PMLN members and even next day PPP keep doing same thing and PMLN didnt even respond to PMLN…

باوا جی میں آپ كی بات سے اتفاق نہیں كر رہا بےنظیر بھٹو صاحبہ مشرف كی ڈیل میں لوجیك تھی اس ملاقات میں بہت فرق ہے جیف جسٹس نے مشرف سے ڈیل نہیں كی كر سكتا تھا كم از كم ڈوگر سے تو نا ملاو بغیر كسی ثبوت كے ابھی كچھ انتظار تو كر لیں میں تو حالات جو گزر گئے جو اس وقت ہیں اس كے مطابق بات كر رہا ہوں جب آپ حكومت بنے سے قبل ہی ججزكو بحال ہی نہیں كرنا چاہتے ان دو سالوں میں جو ہوا یہ سب نظر آ رہا ہے بہت پرانئی بات نہیں ہے مجھے ججز سے كچھ بھی لینا نہیں ہے دكھ ہوتا ہے جب كم از كم زرداری كو ڈفینڈ كیا جاتا ہے جو شخص كرپشن كے الزامات میں مشہور ہو وعدے پورے نا كرتا ہو اس كو ڈفینڈ كیسے كیا جا سكتا ہے
باوجی پیرس اور لندن كا سفر گاڑی پر تین گھنٹے كا یورو سٹار ٹرین كا تقریبا دو گھنٹے كا اور میرا لندن كا چكر مہنے میں دو یا اس سے بھی زیادہ بار لگتا ہے میں سٹوڈنٹ نہیں ہوں اس لیے آپ كے مشورے كے مطابق پكوڑے ضرور كھاوں گا اور اخبار بھی ضرو پڑھتا رہوں گا میری دعا ہے پاكستان كا پیسہ جس شخص نےبھی لوٹا ہے وہ كسی بھی پارٹی سے ہو جج ہو جرنیل ہو جو بھی ہو اس سے كی سزا ملنی ہی چاہیے

وزیر اعظم نے ججز تقرری کیس میں دانشمندی کا ثبوت دیا،جسٹس خواجہ شریف
راولپنڈی …چیف جسٹس لاہور ہائی کورٹ خواجہ شریف نے کہا ہے کہ وزیر اعظم یوسف رضا گیلانی نے ججز تقرری کیس میں دانش مندی کا ثبوت دیا ہے جس سے برف پگھلی ہے۔ہائی کورٹ بار راولپنڈی بنچ کی تقریب سے خطاب میں چیف جسٹس لاہور ہائی کورٹ خواجہ شریف نے ججز تقرری کامسئلہ حل کرنے میں اٹارنی جنرل کے کردارکوسراہا۔ان کا کہنا تھا کہ حکومتی نوٹیفکیشن کے بعد انہوں نے چیف جسٹس پاکستان کو فون کیا، جس پر چیف جسٹس نے انہیں تسلی دیتے ہوئے کہاکہ بینچ بیٹھ رہا ہے۔ جسٹس خواجہ شریف نے امید ظاہر کی کہ آئندہ ایسا تنازع پیدا نہ ہو جس سے عوام پریشان ہوں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ آٹھ، دس سال کے کال کوٹھریوں کے کیس زیر التوا ہیں، ایسے مسائل پیدا نہ کئے جائیں جن سے انصاف کی فراہمی میں تاخیرہو۔

پاکستان کے صوبہ سندھ کے علاقے گھوٹکی میں مسلم لیگ نواز کے سربراہ میاں نواز شریف کے مبینہ طور پر ایک نایاب ہرن کے شکار کی اطلاعات پر محکمہ جنگی حیات نے تحقیقات کا حکم دیا ہے۔
بدھ کو حکومت اور عدلیہ میں جاری کشیدگی جس وقت اپنے انجام کی طرف بڑھ رہی تھی، اس وقت میاں نواز شریف گھوٹکی میں ایک دعوت میں شریک تھے۔ وہ سابق وزیرِ اعلیٰ علی محمد مہر اور ضلع ناظم علی گوہر مہر کی دعوت پر پنجاب حکومت کے ہیلی کاپٹر کے ذریعے پہنچے تھے۔
مقامی میڈیا کے مطابق میاں نوازشریف نے تار واری شکار گاہ کے نام سے مشہور علاقے میں شکار کیا، جس میں نایاب ہرن بھی شامل تھا۔
محکمہ جنگلی حیات کے چیف کنزرویٹر حسین بخش بھاگت نے بی بی سی کو بتایا کہ میڈیا کی اطلاعات پر انہوں نے ڈپٹی کنزرویٹر اور اعزازی گیم وارڈن کو تحقیقات کا حکم دیا ہے۔
میاں نواز شریف مہر برادران کی ہمشیرہ کی تعزیت پر آئے تھے جہاں انہوں نے مختلف سیاست دانوں سے بھی ملاقات کی اور کسی قسم کا کوئی شکار نہیں کیا۔

ان کے مطابق اگر جنگلی حیات قوانین کی خلاف ورزی ہوئی تو پھر قانونی کارروائی کی جائے گی۔ یاد رہے کہ ان قوانین کے مطابق ذاتی شکار گاہ میں بھی جنگلی حیات کے قانون کی پابندی کرنا ہوتی ہے۔
دوسری جانب مسلم لیگ ن کے رہنما سلیم ضیا نے ان الزامات کی تردید کی ہے۔ ان کے مطابق میاں نواز شریف مہر برادران کی ہمشیرہ کی تعزیت پر آئے تھے جہاں انہوں نے مختلف سیاست دانوں سے بھی ملاقات کی۔ بقول ان کے میاں نواز شریف نے کسی قسم کا کوئی شکار نہیں کیا۔
یاد رہے کہ تار واری شکار گاہ مہر برداران کا ذاتی سفاری پارک ہے۔ دو سے اڑھائی سو ایکڑ پر مشتمل اس پارک میں کئی نایاب جانور اور خصوصی مہمانوں کے لیے ایک گیسٹ ہاؤس بھی موجود ہے۔ ماہرین کا کہنا ہے کہ مہر برادران کے دبئی کے حکمران گھرانے سے بھی گہرے تعلقات ہیں اور انہیں اسٹیبلشمنٹ کے بھی قریب تصور کیا جاتا ہے

At this moment, CJ is grilling and scolding chairman NAB for non-implementation of Dec 16 judgment. He has specifically asked about the swiss cases and why the letter has not yet been sent to swiss govt to reopen the cases. CJ is saying that from now on he will be checking every day about the progress on the implementation on the judgment. CJ has asked chairman to reply in 2 days about swiss cases and threatened that SC knows how to get it’s orders implemented in case some thinks that he is above law.
Now where is the deal
This just in, CJ has ordered to stop chairman NAB’s salary until swiss cases are opened. Now again where happened to the deal between CJ and the govt.

اسلام آباد: این آر او سے متعلق سولہ دسمبر کے فیصلے پر عمل درآمد نہ ہونے پر چیف جسٹس آف پاکستان افتخار محمد چوہدری نے چیئرمین نیب نوید احسن پر شدید برہمی کا اظہار کردیا ۔ سپریم کورٹ میں بینکرز سٹی کیس کی سماعت ہوئی ۔سماعت کے دوران سولہ دسمبر کے فیصلے پر عمل درآمد سے متعلق وضاحت کیلئے چیف جسٹس نے چیئرمین نیب کو فوری طور پر عدالت میں طلب کیا ۔سماعت کے دوران چیف جسٹس آف پاکستان افتخار چوہدری نے چیئرمین نیب سے پوچھا کہ سوئس عدالت میں کیس اب تک کیوں ری اوپن نہیں ہوئے اور اس حوالے سے سوئس حکومت کو خط کیوں نہیں لکھا گیا ۔
جواب میں چیئرمین نیب نے کہا کہ اس حوالے سے سیکریٹری قانون سے ہدایت لے رہے ہیں ۔ چیف جسٹس کا کہنا تھا کہ سپریم کورٹ جو احکامات پاس کرتی ہے اس پر عمل بھی کروانا جانتی ہے اور اگر سوئس مقدمات کے حوالے سے کارروائی نہیں کی جاتی تو چیئرمین نیب کی تنخواہ منجمد کردی جائے ۔انہوں نے نیب کو اڑتالیس گھنٹے میں فیصلے پر عمل کرنے کے احکامات بھی دیئے۔

President reluctant to seek immunity verdict
The president and his legal team, licking their wounds after a near fatal beating, are reluctant to refer the all important immunity clause, Article 248(2) of the Constitution, to the Supreme Court for interpretation, fearing that it would possibly be knocked down, exposing Zardari to endless legal grilling, which could end his political career.
The NRO judgment, which had ordered the re-opening of cases of all the accused without any exception, reflects in detail the teachings of Islam to prove that all are equal before the law and that no one could be dealt specially, thus making the case of constitutional immunity for President Asif Ali Zardari in criminal cases doubtful, if not subtly knocking it out.

Ramday donates salary to workers
Respected Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday, just appointed as ad hoc judge of the Supreme Court, has decided not to draw his salary and has donated the same to Al-Mizan Foundation, a welfare organization for the serving and retired employees of the judiciary including subordinate courts.
Justice Ramday, who was reluctant to re-join the apex court as an ad hoc judge and had already planned for his retirement, has formally written to the chief justice that he would serve as an honorary ad hoc judge without salary.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry met Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani yesterday at the Prime Minister House and the tension between judiciary and government has now ended. Following the meeting, Prime Minister Gilani told media the government has decided to elevate Justice Saqib Nisar and Justice Asif Khosa to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, while Justice Khalil Ramday will be appointed as an ad-hoc judge in the apex court for a period of one year. Undeniably the decision has been taken in the best interest of nation, country, political forces and the democratic system. More importantly the decision has full backing of President Asif Ali Zardari. Prime Minister Gillani says that he and President Zardari are part of one party. PPP believes in freedom of judiciary instead of individual freedom.
We welcome the end to controversy between government and judiciary about appointment of judges. The confrontation was not in the interest of country, democracy and system. Therefore, all issues should be resolved through understanding. Prime Minster Gilani’s announcement about appointment of judges was a positive development. We the people of Pakistan congratulate President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry for resolving the crisis. Those who were shouting at government that it is has started war against judiciary, now gone mum. Credit must be give to President Zardari who is continuing reconciliatory politics.

C.J.P is well aware of his position and his duty after all he was reinstated twice with the power of the people of pakistan his credibility is still intact.
Few points
- One may disagree that CJ went to meet PM but it does not mean that he did something unconstitutional or accepted any unjust demands of government!
- I think it was fault of government that they created such a situation where CJ had to meet PM to diffuse the tension! Some people are trying to use this meeting to malign the CJ and Judiciary which might be one aim of those who created this situation. Those corrupt people who are being tightened by the judiciary want to malign CJ and Judiciary!
- Almost every person agrees that CJ was right in his decision of appointments so had government agreed to earlier we would not have come to such a difficult situation.
- I don’t think CJ or other judges are going to compromise on fair and indiscriminate justice, in coming days their decisions and actions would show the real picture!
- Cases of corruption especially Swiss cases are going to be big fight so there might be further conspiracies by the corrupt elements but INSHALLAH justice will prevail and nation will support brave and just judiciary in any difficult times.

بندر شیرنی کو چھیڑ رہا تھا، شیر نے شیرنی سے کہا “بدبخت تم بندر کو منع کیوں نہیں کرتی” شیرنی نے جمائی لے کر عرض کیا “عالم پناہ یہ بہت شیطان ہے، اس سے پنگا لینے کا کوئی فائدہ نہیں” شیر کو شیر ہونے کا زعم تھا وہ اٹھا اور بندر کے پیچھے بھاگ کھڑا ہوا، بندر آگے آگے تھا اور شیر پیچھے پیچھے، راستے میں درمیانے سائز کا پائپ آگیا، بندر پائپ میں گھس گیا، شیر نے بھی بادشاہی کے غرور میں اپنا سر پائپ میں دے دیا، اس کے بعد کیا ہوا؟
وہی ہوا جو پچھلے چار دنوں میں حکومت کے ساتھ ہوا
شیر کی بادشاہی پائپ میں پھنسی تھی اور پشت دم سمیت باہر لٹک رہی تھی، بندر دوسری طرف سے نکلا، اس نے کانٹے دار درخت کی ٹہنی توڑی، شیر کی پشت پر چڑھا اور اسے مارنا شروع کردیا، وہ اس وقت تک ڈنڈے برساتا رہا جب تک شیر کی پشت لہولہان نہ ہوگئی، شیر شام کو زخمی پیٹھ کے ساتھ واپس لوٹا تو شیرنی نے کہا
بادشاہ سلامت آپ نے اگر مار ہی کھانا تھی تو اتنی دوڑ کی کیا ضرورت تھی

شیر بولا کہ اب بھی یقین نہ کرو کیونکہ میں تو پھنسا ہوا مار کھا رہا ہوں ورنہ اس بندر کی کیا مجال جو مجھے میرے قریب بھی آ سکے

I am referring here to your joke (latifa) posted at 9.03 pm. I hope you got the message this time.
Just one meeting and all confidence goes down in CJ??? I totally disagree with this line of thought.
In my opinion CJ is not only the Chief Justice but also is the chief manager of the Judiciary. It is his responsibility to devise policies with his team to fulfill constitutional responsibility to dispense prompt justice. Again i think he took a bold step to challenge the status quo and set the precedence to act as the chief organizer and executor of departmental or state organs responsibilities.
He has been saying it for quite a long time now that government should take steps and legislate to eradicate corruption and pay attention to good governance. But his advice is falling on deaf ears!!
We all know that last year he along with his committee of judges formed judicial reform policy. Next obvious step is to put in place the right people. As Jim Collins said in his book, Good To Great, get the right people on bus and do not hesitate to get the wrong people off the bus. It is incumbent upon him to fill up all the vacant posts with merited judges as soon as possible so that business of judiciary as per laid out policy could go on without hindrances. Obviously lack of man-force is a hindrance in performing the tasks and government is to blame for this.
With this background I believe CJ set up the bench to hear notification case. This put government in a tight spot and the only way they could have saved in-court judgment against them, a party-crashing drama was knitted. CJ and Judiciary were right on the money therefore I don’t believe that CJ would have been in a situation to compromise his authority or future proceedings against NRO cases.
The only feel good factor for government is that they did not have to get more embarrassed in the court against manipulated notifications and political storms came to a halt.
CJ would have to act on all those avenues where their new-found authority could get as much relief for the people of Pakistan as they could without destabilizing the democratic process. May Allah be with righteous.

Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has removed Abdul Baseer Qureshi from his office of Additional Prosecutor General, Geo News quoted sources as saying Saturday.

چیف صاحب مہربانی فرما کر تمام جج حضرات کو بیان بازی سے روکیں جسٹس خواجہ شریف کو یہ کہنے کی ہرگز ضرورت نہیں کہ حکمران اپنے مشیر بدلیں بلکہ جو بھی غلط کام ہو اس ذمہ دار کو سزا دیں. جج حضرات کو صرف فیصلوں سے ہی بولنا چاہیے . اگر واقعی اس ملاقات میں کوئی چال ہوئی تو نقصان ہمارا عوام اور عدلیہ کا ہی ہو گا. کیونکہ بہت سارے وکلا اور عام عوام نے اس ملاقات کو پسند نہیں کیا ہے حالانکہ اس ملاقات کا نتیجہ بیشک اچھا ہی برآمد ہوا ہے. .

‘No objection to reopening of Swiss cases’: President
Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani assured the President that the judiciary poses no threat to democracy, sources told Geo News on Saturday.
The meeting termed as totally flawed the advice given by government advisers in connection with the judges’ appointment, causing humiliation to the government.
Federal Minister for Law and Justice Dr. Babar Awan and Adviser to Prime Minister Latif Khosa were also invited to the meeting which they excused to attend on the pretext of indisposition.

To all those still praising the his holiness CJ of Pakistan, in Supreme Court’s highest regard for rule of law it has announced that evidence and allegations of involvement of intelligence agencies in abducting people will be examined by an ‘appropriate forum at the relevant time.’
While the Presidential immunity is now questionable since its a civilian President, kidnappers and murders in uniform are clearly above law.

Being a hardcore Pakistani The only events i m proud of in our blunder-abound history are Nuclear Explosions in 1998 and the Movement for the Independence of Judiciary . You may not agree with me but across the whole third world ,corruption is the biggest problem and the only sane solution to this is through accountability . All you need to do is go out in the street in Lahore(because i live here) and ask anyone anyone about Iftikhar Chaudhry and u will hear praise and ask anyone about our again-bunkered-blunder prone President and u will hear abuses of exponential magnitude . Such is the Democracy in Pakistan without her mother transperancy and father accountability i-e an orphaned illegitimate democracy.

Then what is wrong in that? I personally feel that it is very complex issue and every good person feels for those who are abducted and for their families!
Actually working of intelligence agencies is not something that could be fully exposed, they need to work behind the scene and there is always possibility of doing something wrong too but it is part of life/job! I don’t support wrong doing of anyone including agencies; all what they do can’t be brought into light however; it is also almost impossible to track them down because their work can’t be caught or judged.
It is responsibility of agencies that they remain just, fair, self accountable and sincere. In current situation our agencies are facing huge challenges and hard tasks which normally are hidden from our sights; our agencies are coping with many opponents. Sometimes, i feel that in reality these intelligence agencies are the controller of countries and their fight with each other is way too hard but is hidden from common people! Anyhow i wish that we find some way out to the problem of abducted fellows.

I think you are trying to give it civilian vs uniform color although justice is being done in right direction. No one is above law and people in uniform have been quite fair and just recently. Army did make mistakes in past like anyone else and especially Musharraf did a lot of wrong things but they have changed themselves positively after him and have compensated through their good acts and sacrifices.
If president and his company are innocent then they don’t need to be worried! It is also strange that one starts asking to do justice against all if he/she is being accounted for. Not everyone could be questioned simultaneously, rather it is a gradual process and one after other it goes on. Good way is that anyone who is asked for accountability presents him/herself for that without making excuses or pointing fingers at others. I think justice should start from top and from those who are in government.

It is complex, actually work of agencies is mostly dummy and without much proofs/tracks and if they want to hide/play then it is almost impossible to find the real facts! If they will be pressed then they may turn to tricks. As i said earlier this matter could be solved in a suitable way and this in-camera or something else might be applied, main thing is to locate and try to bring back the missing people.

No agencies are not above law and no one is above law including your President! and Judiciary has been doing trial of it and they have said that they will do it in an appropriate way at an appropriate time!

I don’t think it is civilian vs uniform thing it is rather a general and genuine issue! One needs to be happy if all those four forces are getting together for the sake of country and nation; it is rather quite positive thing!
