I cannot understand where does talat stand today. He has been supporting different point of view about this war on terror as far as strategy in Pakistan is concerned. We have to see how he responds in his programs in the coming weeks and months when there is exit strategy by the US from Afghanistan and change in domestic policy in Pakistan. It must be difficult for talat to backtrack from his earlier standpoint of use of force against taliban in Pakistan and bomb the cities, killing innocent people and declaring victory.
I could appreciate disappointment evident from his last article in express news on saturday. He seems unhappy at his individual level (personal level) also since he was used tactfully to devise a popular support through media. He is the leading journalist (first one actually) who started the campaign in the media to gain popular support in favor of strategy of Pak army and govt in war against terrorism in Pakistan. Its only after his programs the whole media except a few journalists started supporting the govt’s strategy. He set the agenda. ODue to his appeal in the common people and his integrity he was successful keeping in mind the other english medium anchors who had been unsuccessful before that despite their programs because those journalists had no credibilty (Najam sethi, Nazir naji (not english medium), and many others) Hamid mir, dr shahid masood, kashif abbasi, saleem safi, irfan siddiqui and ansar abbasi were not in favour of that strategy. After these programs I remember talat went to Italy for several weeks doing various other programs. However the media behind him in Pakistan was discussing what he had started and stimuated already. The govt was very happy that the media and awam were on board with them on this issue.
Now talat is startled and disappointed that ISPR or army is turning about. Moreover there is a bomb attack in mangora yesterday again unfortunately (are these taliban again coming back). PPP, ANP, MQM were so glad for the previous support from media giants and the awam. Now the truths will surface about how much we have lost during all this process. Let us see how talat switches over to the other standpoint.
No doubt talat is a guy with credibility and integrity but his plus points were cashed by the then army and civilian leadership to turn the public support in their favour. Its obviously difficult for talat to go other way around.
This program may be first of the next series to turn the view point of public now in favour of new strategy of Pak army and the govt or talat hussain.

All of us ought to look at the current war on terror in Afghanistan as the continuation of Afghan/soviet conflict. With great regret I have to admit that the day Soviet Union lost the war in Afghansitan,Pakistan was defeated on the same day.

The reason I believe in Pakistans first defeat in Afghanistan is because we had no concrete plans for post soviet Afghanistan and the groups that we had supported through JI were incapable and ineffective.

salam, yes SANAME, you r very true and i totaly agree with your opinion. that time it was too painfull 4 me when talat was justifying the operations.imran khan was consistly shouting against the army operations but media was much strong to spread its propaganda.unfurtunatly talat was top on that propaganda war.time proved IMRAN KHANwas right although he decreased his vote bank those days .true pakistani.

Total BS by Talat and co. There is a big difference between war in Afghanistan and Iraq. The former wasn’t manipulated it was a war of necessity and is the one tied with Pakistan. The later was a based on tweaked intelligence. Isreal works closely with DoD but its wrong to shift the total blame. There were manipulations from intelliegence community to wage Iraq’s war that was unjustified.

Imran Khan was wrong then and is wrong now. Talks with Taliban defeated in Swat and Waziristan is altogether different than what Imran advocated talk to Taliban even from a position of weakness. He rightly lost his popularity and vote bcaz of lack of vision and support to mullahs. Now he is trying to spin it to undo some of the demage.

Talat has always been GHQ’s pupit in media. I am not surprised he says what GHQ wants him to say on Swat operation, Kerry Lugar bill, Mumbai attacks, Kashmir Issue and now on talks with Taliban. He bash politicians from either side to appease genrals and then projects genrals as true intellectuals. People like him are biggest hurdle in civilian supermacy in Pakistan.

For some, untill tomorrow Talat was the most unbiased, true and a resourceful person on Pakistani media but tables are turning for them.
    Ultimately the truth will prevail.
If we look it simply then it is a war between 2 groups.
1- A coalition of all the non-muslim and so called “muslim” governments lead by US backed by India and Isreal too.
    2- Talibans of Afghanistan.

Now this war is a preplanned and well thought of war, so out of the 2 groups fighting one is on right and the other one is on the false.
I don’t think it requires a rocket science to conclude who would be on the right.

imran khan was right in past and know he is right too becoz he is only a person who dare to talk about american davil policy on afghanistan. there wasn’t any problem about non muslim or muslims in a regin before war on afghanistan.afghani talban are fighting for freedom and this is thier right.imran khan was saying that bombing on our own ppl is wrong policy,it will increase terrorism.america wants to control the regin, talibab dont allow him and we r supporting our masters .

    First of silute to Afghans!
Only muslim united forces can control afghanistan after escape of amerca and their united forces, And muslim forces should ask first to taliban for this and pakistan will lead and help afghans to rebuild, control and put a social government for the afghan people to start their lives as a free nation.
Also for the mujahidins divert them to kashmir, why?
To repay India, with intrest Because during this war of terror Indian’s creating not only problems for pakistan, All the time they indian’s waited for a chance to destroy pakistan, there involvment in Baluchistan and terrorist attacks in pakistan, also as indian’s building huge dames to control rivers.

And it should be the beginning of Greater Pakistan. Pakistan is the only hope for all other sarc countries in this region.
