    Three trends,

1 – Seems country is going towards 2 parties system , Urban Sindh is exception.

it is good for democracy if we keep upto main parties , else small pressure groups do nothing for country and always black mail to destabilize governments for sake of their regional interests. UK, USA are good example for 2 party system. But in south asia politics trends changed to collation governments , results are not much healthy , either hung parliament or early dissolution of parliament

2 – People are rejecting Pro-Taliban and Pro-establishment parties (NA55, NA123 are good examples NA55 SR: Pro est. , NA123 HSB Pro Taliban)… cheers it is awaking Pakistan now.

3 – People supporting PMLN friendly opposition role and majority do not want politics of 90s again.

And here we go the American dream of having a two party system is in its full speed in works, the so called moderates, PPPP, MQM and ANP vs. the right wing? Centrist? PMLN-Q-Zia, and some mullah parties?

BB saheeday NRO made the deal with them and she and Mush against all the others, the Kings league and mullah affiliation a match made in haven, even though BB is in the “political haven” looking down at her grave worshipers living under the umbrella of her husband, her partner in crimes vs. the fake opposition or friendly if you like to use the word. It has been decided in the palaces of Saudi Arabia and UAE and in the “Stink Tanks”(think tanks) of Washington and London, run by the Neo-Satans. Stage is set and Imran Khan is made irrelevant…..

As Barnett Rubin – a leading expert on Afghanistan and Pakistan – noted earlier this week: “The Bush administration [and this also applies to many other Western governments, intellectuals and commentators] has decided that in the “Muslim world” a battle is going on between pro-American “moderates” and anti-American “extremists.” According to them, the “Muslim world” has a two-party system organized around how Muslims feel about America. In Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf is a “pro-American moderate.” Benazir Bhutto is a “pro-American moderate.” Therefore it is only logical (and in U.S. interests!) for the U.S. to realign Pakistan politics so that the “moderates” work together against the “extremists.”"

In reality, it is these very “moderates” whose venal, corrupt and amoral behaviour creates the conditions – poverty, disenfranchisement and a government in the pocket of foreign powers – that fan the flames of extremism to begin with. Certainly it is more than a little rich for the Western leaders who have enthusiastically backed a military dictatorship in Pakistan since 1999 to talk of their desire to see democracy flourish in that country.

Bhutto’s return had been a Western-sponsored attempt to prettify the tottering despot Musharraf by engineering an unseemly and decidedly non-democratic power-sharing accommodation between the two. This clumsy attempt to put lipstick on a pig descended into grim farce as Musharraf attempted to minimise his losses by enacting a state of emergency; ostensibly to crack down on extremists but which in fact targeted members of Pakistan’s genuinely democratic opposition. As Musharraf sacked the judiciary and replaced them with his own lackeys, the West could only mumble disapproving platitudes (perhaps privately welcoming the resulting strengthening of their pet “moderates”).

For Bhutto’s part, the Guardian’s leader writers commented that “her resistance to Mr Musharraf’s attacks on civil society was equivocal. Her demands for the release from house arrest of Pakistan’s former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudry were tempered by the knowledge that if the supreme court were restored to its pre-emergency rule state, the amnesty she had obtained from Mr Musharraf would be up for judicial review.”

Undermining extremist forms of Islam and terrorist groups whilst bolstering democratic governance are plainly urgent tasks for Pakistan. A yet more urgent task is to deal with the principle obstacles to achieving these goals.

One of these is the military/security complex – an institution whose own corruption is epic, whose extensive involvement in nuclear proliferation could yet have catastrophic consequences, which has inflicted dictatorship after dictatorship on Pakistan, which was the perpetrator of the bloodbath in East Pakistan …. and on, and on…and which has enjoyed strong Western backing throughout. The other is the oligarchical/kleptocrat class – hailed as “moderates” and “liberals” by clueless Western governing elites – of which Bhutto was a fully paid-up member.

    http://www.democratsdiary.co.uk/2008/01/bhutto-and-pakistan-moderate-martyrs.html

@smsupportmovement, a class of his own

“Do not feed the trolls” and its abbreviation DNFTT redirect here.

    “What is a troll?”.

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[2]

    Etymology

“Trolling for blue fish” lithograph by Currier & Ives, 1866.
The contemporary use of the term is alleged to have first appeared on the Internet in the late 1980s, but the earliest known example is from 1992.

It is thought to be a truncation of the phrase trolling for suckers. That phrase is itself derived from the fishing technique of slowly dragging a lure or baited hook from a moving boat, waiting for fish to strike, a technique known as trolling.

The word also evokes the trolls portrayed in Scandinavian folklore and children’s tales, as they are often creatures bent on mischief and wickedness. The verb “troll” originates from Old French “troller”, a hunting term. The noun “troll”, however, comes from the Old Norse word for a mythological monster.

It is very important that PPP should complete his five year. There is no doubt that PPP is fully involved in the corruption and bad governance. But if this govt is derailed before the due time then PPP will definitely play sind card and it would further destabilize Pakistan which is already facing the anarchy and lawlessness in Fata and Baluchistan. I am 100% sure that in the absence of the sind card and the five years of bad governance would completely root out PPP from politics. Already we have started to see such results as in Jang, Bahawalnagar.

Osama introduced Nawaz Sharif to Saudi royals: ex-ISI officer

“During his first visit to Saudi Arabia as Chief Minister of Punjab in the late 1980s, no one from the royal family had given Sharif importance,” he said.

“Thereafter, on Sharif’s request, *sama *in *aden introduced him to the royal family and that helped him in getting closer to the Saudis,” said Khwaja, who was a squadron leader in the Pakistan Air Force before joining the ISI in 1985.

“A close aide of Sharif family and I arranged at least five meetings between Sharif and *in *aden in Saudi Arabia.

  • siddiqi73 said:

    @ Aftab,

Buddy, with all due respect; you are barking up the wrong tree. This is all old news and was dug up to malign NS last year and carries no credence what so ever. In late 80′s, Osama Bin Laden was a CIA operative and he was doing their bidding along with Saudi Intelligence in Saudi Arabia; to make a long story short, he was totally legit at that time and the creme’ da la creme’ of US, Saudi, Egyptian and Pakistani Leadership gave him audience in those days.

In continuation of of your contention, in 1995 a high powered Taliban delegation visited Unocal’s Corporate offices in Texas ostensibly to discuss modalities related to laying of a gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to Pakistan. Guess who the Governor of Texas was at that time, does a George W. Bush ring a bell. Unocal was a CIA front company and it is alleged that in unison with CIA, it provided arms and ammunition to Taliban and even helped them to overrun Kabul in 1996.

PMLN’s top leadership is well aware of this fact and the like of Kh.Saad Rafique and Javed Hashmi know it .

I am coming to the conclusion close to your point of view, because mid term election will just change the power from one family run Mafia to another, let them finish their term and self destruct. Both of them are in the government as we speak, and running dysfunctional government.

I am more for the test of PMLN and see if they start the impeachment process, a constitutional way to get rid of this criminally and mentally insane person named Asif Ali Madari. If they do not do that, which looks more like it, than they will become the responsible party in crimes with the PPPP.

After seeing the election results, I feel Imran Khan can use couple of more years of organization and the incompetence of the current ruling family and ethnic Mafia’s.

We have a no win situation on hand, unfortunately, but we can leave it to the Allah and keep trying. We can not loose hope just because the outcome is not favorable for us. No amount of ridicule and sarcasms will make me stop supporting the PTI and Imran Khan the best hope for Pakistan as of today, we may, by the will of Allah get some more people of conscience join hands with us and bring the change necessary for the wellbeing of the poor and defenseless Pakistani majority.

“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: for he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.” (Romans 13:1-5)

People can vote for who ever they so choose if it happens to be the current Pir’s then that is they choice in democracy. I have never said government used state machinery or forced people to vote, no problem who people vote for but i would NOT vote for the current ruling elite. Actually i would say kudos to the people who did vote as least they made the effort of voting.

ask locals .. the results were pretty obvious …
itna masla nahi ha … aur N-League pehlay hi kaafi mohtaat mohtat ji rahi ha …
election haar jana itna barra masla nahi ha jitna election me dhandhli kerwana … aur pakrray jana .. bal ke pakrray na bhi jayen tu bhi just word of mouth hi kafi ha berra gharaq kernay k liye so .. absolutely no chance …

Hopefully it has been a clean and fair election although losing candidates have been raising some suspicious voices! Well, one can say that losers always blame but not always they are wrong :)

Anyhow, let us see and hope that all was and will be fair and nice …

Elections are over but I wish that these candidates who have now won should fulfill their promises. NA 123 is such a nasty area to go to with muddy roads and everything but they cleaned it up so good in the election time. Why can they not perform the same way throughout the year. Thh state is getting so much money from the U.S.A so might as well invest it in the interest of the citizens for atleast ONCE!

The elections or the elected candidates actually represent victory of people. It represents acceptance an ideology of a free country. The real responsibility starts after the elections. The elected candidates have to represent their communities on the floor as best as they can.
