I am too much depressed by this sad news. May the souls rest in peace.

On the other hand the cause of accident is so far unknown. There are lot of stories floating around. Most of them blaming it on the weather conditions and poor visibility.

But my question is why the plane was not allowed to land at Islamabad Airport instead of diverting it to Lahore. If weather was the reason then why was it not diverted earlier. Why only when it was about to touch down.

I think what has happend here that plane was about to land at Islamabad airport when the CAA officials told the pilot to goto Lahore citing poor weather conditions. The pilot tried to climb again but couldn’t see the Margalla hills due to low altitude clouds and crashed into the hills almost immediately giving the crew little time to respond or at least make May Day calls to the control tower.

Now the question arises should it not have been better if the plane had been allowed to land or even crash land at Islamabad airport saving many more lives than to crash right into the Margalla hills.

I blame the poor decision making and pure negligence on behalf of CAA officials and the control tower for this accident.

no one to blame except air blue

    they have the crap planes

if someone has travelled via air blue

he would know the condition of the planes of air blue

they give sounds like “new khan buses” in pakistan

cheap planes and cheap services hence the cheap fares

they fly only to one european country and that is UK

they have flights from manchester to ISD

and all the poor pakistanis from all over the UK first go to manchester by road

in the greed of cheap fares

and then put their lives on risk for 7 hours from manchester to ISD

their fuel capacity you can imagine that they stop in turkey for fuel which is another european country

a flight departs from UK(europe) and then again stops in turkey(europe) for fuel

and the plane trembles all the way to ISD

hardly having a smooth journey of one hour

pilot of this plane is not to blame

he was retired from PIA after serving a long period

but air blue also took his life

and notice no prominent or rich person was on board

only poor people who cant even afford PIA were on board and lost their lives

air blue for such a rubbish service should be banned

but no one will do this in pakistan

because corrupt bureucrats and politicians dont fly through it

alas poor people of ma nation

I guess you have never visited Islamabad so your geography about the area is almost nil. I lived in Islamabad for more than 24 yrs and there is no connection between airport and margalla hills. Usually the planes circle around zero point to G-9 area to lose altitude and then turn south towards airport in order to position themselves for landing. Margalla hills are about 10-15 kms further north to north west and I have never seen any plane flying so close to the hills. Pilot must have lost control due to bad visibility and navigation system causing him to get too close to mountains and before he could realize that it was too late. I heard eye witnesses confirming that the pilot tried to pull the plane up just before the crash.

Zee u have absolute zero knowledge about aviation and aircrafts get your stupid facts right!

Its one of the most successful airliners in the world you have either never stepped aboard an aircraft or if u did u went on an illegal visa to uk and kant come back !!!

There is no plane on this planet that doesnt make sound like new khan….!

Sound has nothing to do with the quality of the plane …….did you ever ride a 747 or a340 they eat your ears if ur sitting next to the wing…..you move to first class and you dont hear crap! I travel business class every week on a320 and 737 so dont come dis the aircraft or the pilot once a pilot always a pilot! It has nothing to do with cheap BS and only thing cheep is ur talk!!!

  • ZEE said:

    @moazbhutta

I think you work for air blue
thats why talking nonsense in favour of them
I did not say anything about aviation

I am talking about the condition of the plane not aviation
even if I went to UK on illegal visa I might have gone on plane not on any donkey like you
and I am not talking about the engine sounds or sounds of the wings
I am talikng about the internal sounds of the plane that is “khar khar”
I think now it will make sense to you

    and dont be so stupid
its not only you, anyone can hear the voice of wings and even can see them moving if sitting to window side

    its the successful airline…?
mind it cheap airlines are never successful they only attract the passengers
and then end up with their lives
    like today

so what if you have travelled in business class
should we stand up for your respect
we have nothing to do with it

and what you are talking about pilot
    no one is blamming pilot
    read your comments again
is any substance there or just BS

you are another crap like air blue
this is the one of the crap airlines which after 2-3 hours of journey stops for fuel
I said for fuel not for passengers
think if due to bad weather they are directed to a distant airport
from where will they get the fuel

what will they say to control tower
    will they say
    let us land
because moaz khutta I mean bhutta is sitting in business class

Sleep deprivation and fatigue may have played a role.

According to the following report the pilot flew a plane from italy, prayed all night , then piloted airblue flight to Islamabad.

    http://express.com.pk/epaper/PoPupwindow.aspx?newsID=1101012013&Issue=NP_LHE&Date=20100729

Here is another report that says the pilot was told he was heading for the hills and he said “yeh I can see them” (or something to that effect)

    http://express.com.pk/images/NP_ISB/20100729/Sub_Images/1101012199-1.gif

I have not seen any other reports of this. Fatigue and sleep deprivation can slow the responses and it doesn’t take more than a couple minutes to cover the 10km to the hills if you are busy checking landing checklist and the main guy is very tired after that amount of flying and staying up at night.

    really sad!

    @SJay

we can discuss the cause and effects of the incidence
you can recall after the plane crash in multan in 2006
PIA had to ground all the fokker planes on public pressure
but this foolish person moaz is talking BS

he is talking about the 340 and 747
but he fooilsh does not know air blue is only having 319,320 and 321
their no plane falls in any higher category

and he is saying plane is plane once it is built
means no need of maintenance and air mileage also does not count
if a car is used for personal purpose and the other is used as taxi
will they both be having the same condition?
    no
there will be hell of differnce
the same case is with air blue they are using the planes like taxi

    watch yesterdays islamabad tonight
    they are saying
“jahaz ajj hi turkey say aaya tha but pilots change hoay thay”
and I have already said these planes are coming from manchester(UK) via turkey after getting fuel(not passengers)
they are using the planes just like pakistani buses, just get changed the drivers(or pilots) and send them on any route

and these are not big planes
goras might have made these planes for the journey within the continent for 2-3 hours journey according to their fuel capacity
but pakistan and other such nations are using them for inter continent flights
thats why air blue planes cant cross one continent without refilling
they stop in turkey for fuel for half an hour
and all the pakis jump out of the plane and rush to the terminal for smoking
and once filling is over airport security push all these pakis back to get into air blue plane and leave their country

and air blue has few planes in their fleet
they fly to UAE and and one european country, rather one european city which is manchester
they are so stupid that they are using the same planes for international and domestic flights
but this foolish guy does not understand this

inspite of giving some arguements he started personal attacks
he is telling us the ABC of air travel, that wings have sound and every plane(engine) is having sound
when did I say they fly by switching off the engines?
these basic things every one knows
and he is trying to impress us by saying he sits in business class and travel weekly
I know the “auqat” of pakistani businessmen and how often they travel
but nargis and deedar travel weekly for their “business tour” to UAE
if he is a middle man in their “business” then its possible

some people are saying pilot was “all” night busy in prayers
this is far away from reality
how can an experienced professional pilot can do it
when he is fully aware of his job responsibilities
media will present now more than 100 such theories

but I still believe there would be a technical problem for the plane crash
    as saleh zafar(journalist) witnessed it
he reports in today’s jang, and main features are

ENGINE WAS HAVING STRANGE SOUND AND PLANE WAS NOT HAVING ANY FLYING POWER

here is the link, scroll down the page and check
    http://www.jang.com.pk/jang/jul2010-daily/29-07-2010/main2.htm

common men (real Pakistani) is dying everyday, on trains, buses, roads, villiages and on streets. If today this rich elite (fake Pakistanis) group died so what? 90% among them were the people who loot our common people, don’t pay their taxes (make poors to pay for their taxes and stolen duties) and take our wealth and loans (money) to abroad. Right now accurate accountability would be taking place up there, who were not accountable in our country.

Every Tom, Dick and Harry is trying to pose as an aviation expert especially cheapskates like Kashif Abbasi and Shahid Masood. Nusrat Javed and Talat Hussain, perhaps, are the only anchorpersons who made a wise decision to actually invite aviation experts into their respective shows and actually take their point of view and not influence them with their useless blabbering like Shahid Masood. A320 has had its share of problems in the initial stages of its development but has evolved into the world’s best short to medium haul aircraft and a potent competitor to the Boeign 737NGs (-600, -700, 800, -900). The A321 is a stretched version of the A320 and this was the variant’s first ever crash. Let’s wait for the crash report.
