The destruction being brought about by devastating floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and in Northern Areas is still afoot as hundreds of people have lost their lives and thousands other have been rendered homeless.
The catastrophe in last three decades has claimed lives of over 280 innocent people at isolated places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir during three-day long showers.
Scores of people are missing, many houses, link and main bridges, link roads, tributaries have been either completely washed away by floodwater due to spillover from rivers and incessant spate of rains or have been too inundated for a human life to survive.
Lightening in Garkoi village of Asheeray Dara killed at least 17 people and damaged 60 houses, Geo News reported quoting local sources. 20 Chinese engineers working on a hydropower project have also been rescued from Shangla.
Chief Minister House in Gilgit-Baltistan has been inundated due to killing floodwater, forcing CM to vacate CM House, who has taken refuge in a local hotel whereas thousands of people have been caught trapped in Nowshera district after River Kabul was seen in high-floods.
Unprecedented spree of incessant heavy downpours is continued in Gilgit-Baltistan, rendering adjoining areas cutoff with other parts of country.
14 jawans of rangers are trapped in floodwater in Baseen since last night, which has prompted authorities to carry out rescue operation for their safe and sound release.
The situation has turned worst of all times as the floods and rains have wreaked havoc up to the extent of biggest natural disaster and worst human calamity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Spillover from River Swat has entered into River Kabul at Nowshera place resulting in submerging cantonment and other areas in water.
Thousands of people, being trapped in floodwater, are waiting for help from government whereas District Headquarter Hospital was also seen flooded by many feet.

Kalabagh has to be built downstream in punjab, the destruction by flood done is in Pukhtunkhwa. If we need to prevent damage to that area, you need to control water in Swat, Chitral and Ningarhar(afghanistan). Kalabagh can prevent and irrigate the lower areas of the country.

you miss understood me. I was just replying technically to the question that this flood has nothing to do with Kalabagh, and kalabagh can not control flood for khyber., yes it can do it for the lower part.
And regarding the issue of kalabagh, we are all victims of the greed of all big pigs including zardari, nawaz, fazlo, asfandyar, altaf and others. Why they did not built any other dam in past 20 -30 years if kalabagh was disputed? is this the only place in country where a dam can be build and we don,t have any other spots for a dam?
And those PIGS will continue to ride on the shoulders of AWAAM, until the whole nation gets educated and rejects these pigs.

but these Khaiber Pakhtoonkhaw and Sindh people also do not have brains. They were apposing Kalabagh Dam without knowing the benefits of a Dam and ANP exploits this situation.
They should know that ANP is the party which oppose the independence of Pakistan how they can let you build a Dam.
This flood is coming from exactly the same point where Kala Bagh Dam could be built and this water could be stored.
I hope they know now that Kala Bagh Dam is the the necessity. If they still do not realize the importance of Kala Bagh Dam then they deserve all this.

Is there a central flood control authority where people can go and check the status of flooding in various cities? Who is coordinating the rescue efforts etc.
Can we move the discussion towards rescue/relief efforts and ideas instead of bickering about dams right now?

What China, USA or others are trying to do will fail. The vultures are sitting eagerly waiting for aid to come in so that they can zero in to loot. Water RO units would end up in houses and farm lands of the wedaras and elite, ration would be sold, medicines would be stored in safe houses and sold to private hospitals and your cash dollars would be used to extend/renovate the “Chateau” in France owned by Zardaris dad (claims he bought it 24 years ago).
