Man arrested over cricket ‘betting scam’ bailed

The allegations centre on no-balls bowled by Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif
The man at the centre of cricket betting scam allegations concerning the Pakistan team has been bailed without charge, Scotland Yard said.

The News of the World claims it paid a middleman for details of three no-balls later bowled by Pakistan as predicted.

Mazhar Majeed, 35, was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud bookmakers.

Meanwhile, three Pakistan players have been questioned by police over claims they were involved in the alleged scam.

Their team manager, Yawar Saeed, said cricket was not “institutionally corrupt” in Pakistan and the claims were unproven.

The allegations relate to three no-balls delivered by Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif on Thursday and Friday. A no-ball occurs when a bowler oversteps the line behind which balls should be delivered.

Scotland Yard said Mr Majeed, 35, was bailed to appear before police at a future date.

Despite the allegations, the fourth and final Test went ahead at Lord’s, with England winning the series 3-1

just came back from London Heathrow after delivering some boxes of relief goods. It was amazing to note that they had already received 70 Tons of relief goods/boxes…………….

once the ‘internet political die hard Pakistanies’ wake up this can easily be ten folds…….. and no need for any foreign govt aid, but i suppose most ‘internet political die hard Pakistanies’ are busy passing their ‘expert analysis’ on political aspects and critising others including Pakistani govt and politicians for not doing enough for flood victims!

We the Pakistani community, including us are sending money and also my wife is working with the local Islamic center and collecting goods to sent next week. There has been a greater awareness amongst the American people and they are willing to help also. Its always the people of Pakistan who prevail and bailout the criminal politicians in the time of need.

The government needs to understand that the economy may survive the floods, it will not survive the debt government contemplates on taking. It is the debt and not the floods that can sink Pakistan economy…Read more at: http://fmeducation.blogspot.com/2010/08/it-is-debt-and-not-floods-that-can-sink.html

We have heard that these boxes are stamped (stickered) with Bilawal Bhutto and PPP when they reach Pakistan and most diverted to PPP areas. It may be OK at least somebody is getting them but these Zardari & co have no shame. It is not their contribution but they just want credit for it.
