MQM Chief and Founder Altaf Hussain has announced his decision to quit the party after raids by Scotland Yard on his residence in relation to murder of Imran Farooq. Altaf Hussain said that he was transferring party powers to the Coordination Committee.

Altaf Hussain has announced his resignation multiple times in the past, but always took it back on “staged” insistence of party members. One of resignations was in 2008 when several lawyers were locked and burned alive in Karachi Tahir Plaza while MQM was on running the anti-judicial campaign.
