This topic is headed for the BASEMENT of "Faith & Religion"!!
My understanding is that innovation to religion is prohibited in Islam. However, Islam does accommodate cultural traditions and social Modernism. There is nothing wrong with celebrating "Happy Birthday Prophet" as a social event but considering it as a part of Islam needs some qualified research.

memberThere isnt any approval of any culture in Islam except to the culture of the tribe of Quraish specifically and in general to the hijaz. Any cultural practice which coincides with the above is accepted anything else is rejected.
Besides if the man whose birthday is being claimed to be celebrated didn't do that act himself while those who he said to be the best 3 generations of his religion didn't do it and they loved their messenger far more than anyone today can fathom, so why is this practiced as a thing just merely copying the people of jahanum ?

Check the definition of Culture:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CultureTell us which part of culture is forbidden in Islam. Keep in mind, there is a big difference between prohibition and accommodation.
Now consider one practical example of culture very core to Islam. One of the requirements of prayer (Salah) is a clean place. It used to be a (dried) mud floor, sometimes covered with date palm leaves or simply a rock during the time of prophet. But when the money came, Muslim brought in the best of carpets from Persia as Musallah. Now, a rug or a carpet is not a part of Islam. However culturally, Muslims bring it as a souvenir when they return from Hajj, they pray on it and even some consider it a sacred relic. I hope this helps.
For you, I say Eid el Miladunnabi is not a part of Islam.

Again your point goes back to the Difference between Sunnah and Habits of Rasool Allaah Sallaaho Alayhi wa Alaa Alayhi wa Sallaam. 2 completely different things.
For me its specificially not part of Islam as the one in whose name all this bidah is done never ever did it or endorsed it. And the ones who loved him the most never ever did it. So there is no justification for it. Regardless.
So for anything you do in Islam is based on the Sunnah of Rasool Allaah Sallaho Alayhi wa Alaa Alayhi wa Sallam otherwise its an innovation.
And as for those deem it to be a part of Religion are doing nothing but imitating the Jews and the Christians when they celebrate the birthdays of their prophets or Saints. And we know they have followed the Shaytan thus muslims are also following the misguided people'.
As for Shaytan he will say
(Ibrahim 14:22) “And Shaitan (Satan) will say when the matter has been decided: "Verily, Allah promised you a promise of truth. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, so you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can you help me. I deny your former act in associating me (Satan) as a partner with Allah (by obeying me in the life of the world). Memberمیری ناقص رائے میں یہ ضروری نہیں ہے کہ ہم یہ سمجھیں کہ اِس دِن کو بطور عید منایا جائے یا مخصوص کر کے اِسے ثواب کا ذریعہ سمجھا جائے۔ یہ بات سچ ہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی حیاتِ مُبارکہ میں یا اُن کے بعد عرصہ دراز تک بارہ ربیع الاول کو بطور عید میلاد النبی منانے کا کوئی ثبوت نہیں ہے۔ حتی کہ ماضی قریب میں بھی بارہ ربیع الاول ”بارہ وفات” کے نام سے مشہور تھا کیونکہ بارہ ربیع الاول کو سرورِ کائنات صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اِس دُنیا سے اپنے ربِ کریم کے پاس تشریف لے گئے تھے۔ محدثین اور مؤرخین کا زیادہ اجماع نو ربیع الاول پہ ہے بابت پیدائشِ رسولِ رحمت صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم۔ لیکن ایک عام مسلمان کی حیثیت سے میرا یہ خیال ہے کہ کِسی ثواب کو منسوب کیے بِنا بھی ہم اِس بات پہ خوش ہو سکتے ہیں کہ ہمارے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم، ربیع الاول میں پیدا ہوئے۔ لیکن اِس کے ساتھ اُن کے جانے کا غم بھی ربیع الاول میں ہی ہے ۔
مزید برآں مُجھے ڈر ہے کہ کہیں ہمارے بریلوی بھائی کُچھ عرصہ بعد اِس عید کی بھی نماز کا اعلان نہ کر دیں۔
رسولِ پاک صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی پیدائشِ مبارک پہ خوش ہونے کا حق ہر مسلمان کو ہے اور ہونا بھی چاہئے۔ میری گذارش دیوبندی، اور اھلحدیث بھائیوں سے بھی ہے کہ وُہ اِس خوشی سے انکار نا کیا کریں ، ہاں اِس دِن کے حساب سے جو غلو ہے اُس کو بیشک موضوعِ بحث بنائیں۔

MemberOne thing I do find strange when I see all these ulemas comparing Hazrat Mohammad with other prophets and calling Prophet Muhammad superior than others. I see this happening all the time.

آیت ہے ”لا نفرق بین احد منکم۔۔۔۔”
اگر کوئی حافظ ہے تو وہ پوری آیت لکھ سکتا ہے ۔ اگر ہم اللہ کے پیغمبروں میں درجات کا تقابلہ نہ بھی کریں تو ہمارے پیارے نبی محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی شانِ اقدس میں کوئی کمی نہیں آ سکتی۔ ہاں سرورِ کائنات کا حکم نا ماننا ہمیں اُن سے دُور ضرور کر سکتا ہے ۔ یہ کیسے ہو سکتا ہے کہ جب خاتم الانبیاء صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم خود ایک کام سے منع فرمائیں تو ایک اُمتی کی اتنی جرات کہ وُہ پھر بھی وہی کام کرے اور تحسین کا طالب ہو۔ اور اپنی بات کو حق سمجھے اور دوسروں سے توقع رکھے کہ بجائے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کہ اُس کی بات کو سچ سمجھیں۔

Eid milad Nabi is a religious insecurity phenomena. Those poor mozzies impressed by them Xtians found no color in own religion and hence invented a cheerful occasion. In our childhood we never saw processions and lightning but now mozzies lighten up the places much like their Xtian brethren do in the West, which is no surprising at all since the Prophet SAW already said you would do misdeeds like ahl-e-kitab. So they do but also give it a twist and call it sunnah, going one step farther to the 73rd rank. Voila!

According to Masnad Imam Ahmed and Jami Tirmizi on tafsir of Surah Al Fateha, Maghdoob (who got Allah angered) are the Jews and Dalleen (astray ones) are the Xtians.
You posted Al Fateha asking to be on straight path and not of the Jews nor of the Xtians and yet you congratulated on Eid Milad like the Xtians do on birth of Jesus RA.

Memberright zing. I remember atleast one hadees where a sahaba did the same and hazray mohammad prohibited him to not do that and he specially mentioned the name of hazrat yunis bin mattee aliahe salam.
If I remember correctly there was another hadees where he mentioned hazrat moosa.
Anyways, I did not want to hujack this thread from a side issue.

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ وَمَلٰٓٮِٕكَتَهٗ يُصَلُّوۡنَ عَلَى النَّبِىِّ ؕ يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا صَلُّوۡا عَلَيۡهِ وَسَلِّمُوۡا تَسۡلِيۡمًا ﴿۵۶﴾Allah has excelled his name and fame above the entire creation, [94:5], and certified that he is the most sublime and exalted character [68:5].’ He sent him as a mercy to all mankind.[21:108]
وَمَاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنٰكَ اِلَّا رَحۡمَةً لِّـلۡعٰلَمِيۡنَUNFORTUNATE ARE THOSE GOING MAD FOR WORLDLY GAINS.
To elucidates the significance of رَحۡمَةً لِّـلۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ, here is a short paean, penned, in few words, by a Punjabi poet Pirandita:
جد ںور حضور ظہور ہویا ، گل عام سرکار دربار ہوئی .Translation: As divine illumination transpired to holy prophet, the noble message from his holy court reached every corner of the universe.
