I am surprised no one used they phone camera but does not surprise me one little bit, and when the Faiji's come they start crying Jamooriyat but when it's they tenure to serve the people they act in the most undemocratic manner.

Sorry for throwing this into the mix but it's kind of linked to the Asooloh Ki Siyasath of PML-N.

Former ADG FIA Riaz Sheikh released

Former Additional Director General FIA Ahmed Riaz Sheikh was released from the jail, Deputy Superintendent Adiala Jail confirmed on Wednesday

Earlier, the Punjab government issued order for the release of Riaz Sheikh.

Yeah I saw that. But I wouldn't blame that on PML-N. I think the real culprit is Zardari (remember he reduced the sentence of ALL convicts to get just this guy off -- see http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn-content-library/dawn/the-newspaper/editorial/remission-order-440 )

That is not to say PML-N is any better (I have quite a few posts on that and could paste links if you wish and working on another one). Some of the things of late:
They are trying to take over airport lands in at least two cities that I know off:
    Walton Airport in Lahore (http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn-content-library/dawn/the-newspaper/local/lahore/fate-of-walton-airport-land-hangs-in-balance-840)
Faisalabad Airport (Not in the news yet)

    - We know the mess they created with Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa and are now trying to create a new one with Hazara Pakhtoonkhwa

    - They are trying to displace 13 Million in the Ravi area in another land grab

    - One of their newest MNA (Awan) might have a jali degree too

  5. Two other news items on this:

LHC takes notice of release of accused by MNA

BTW: The guy Abid Sher Ali is trying to protect is some Nasir Butt. He is a thakaydar.

Abid Sher Ali obviously has no right to act as a gunda for Mr Butt, i am going to assume he is guilty and wants to get of scot free for his misdeeds.

P.S. Don't tell PPP/MQM supporter of the many good deeds that judiciary is doing but i acknowledge they could do much better.

    @ aftab:

When they behave like any other normal Pakistani does. The difference however between them and the faujis is that when Abid Sher Ali does it, it gets reported in the papers but when a petty colonel does it, it does not get reported any where.

The courts have hushed up the matter where son of DG rangers kidnapped policemen? Why hasn't there been a suo moto notice of that incident? The punishment for kidnapping is death or life imprisonment but uniformed men are above law.

Needless to say, the missing persons case has again faded into oblivion.

The police officials being suspended is making an absolute mockery of our institutes for the last 63 year, i mean who gives a toss if he is an MNA, if you are armed and do not have your license with you, then you should be arrested for it and taken down to the Police Station until it is established that you have a valid gun license.

What can i say, on the face of it, it appears that the Military men are getting a free ride and Missing people has been my biggest born of contention with this Judiciary.

Another aspect is if the Civilian authority will bend and twist and pull every trick in the book to save it self from corruption charges, i think there is zero chance of the Military obeying SC orders and they will also play the same games as PPP-PML-N are playing at the moment.

Very valid points. And didn't PPP's PM just honor two military men who tormented Bhutto and PPP workers (And what to talk about honoring Mush). But it is the by such acts as this that politicians weaken themselves and never gain strength to challenge military men's corruption. It is a shame no general is ever put in jail (or hung on a rope)

Why did this not come from a political party:
Transparency International for check on Army...
    http://www.thenews.com.pk/top_story_detail.asp?Id=28301

Let me get a bit off topic but something that has not been reported:
You might be aware that army recently got a 100% raise in pay. How did it happen? I hear Kiyani went to Zardari with a 50% raise request. Zardari said "Why 50%? Take 100%!"

Really! So where was the "supreme" parliament? Where was the Finance department??

But here is another VERY interesting point that I want to highlight:
Of course the military retirees also got a raise but guess what? Those who retired before Musharraf's coup DID NOT get the raise. In other words, all military personnel who served under Mush as Dictator -- AND ONLY THOSE -- get the pay raise from Zardari.

Of course this has also been completely ignored by the media!!!

    @ nota:

Is parliament supreme? You and me both know the answers to that questions but the way you think it, since the parliament did not order a hundred executions as soon as it assumed power it will never be supreme where as I think it will take time for it to assert its authority. Hence pleasing the army.

The check did not came from parliament because as you said it is weak right now. It will come as soon as it starts to stabilize.

The political governments will make many mistakes but if we just point out their flaws stand alone, the people are bound to think of the dictators as saviors. The sole reason people think that army intervention will work is the fact that no one can dare point out how corrupt they are. When transgressions by politicians make headlines and those by the generals don't even make it to news papers the public opinion is bound to become biased.

Well though I agree with you on the army bit, seeing this other comment of yours on that other thread gives me the giggles:
"PCO Iftikhar showing his true colours.
    Down with corrupt judiciary!!! "
    http://pkpolitics.com/discuss/topic/zardari-immunity-army-to-enforce-decision#post-139846
And that too in response to "DAWN News: Filed petition challenges president's immunity"

Apologies to be blunt but this is one amazing show of hypocrisy!

"The sole reason people think that army intervention will work is the fact that no one can dare point out how corrupt they are."

No one is asking for army intervention so please don't use that "if you don't support Zardari's corruption, you want dictatorship" bit. And People know how corrupt the army is. Why doesn't the "Supreme Commander" himself take care of it? Oh, I forgot -- he is too busy trying to win the "Supreme Robber Challenge"...

  14. Another example of "Good Governance" from Shahbaz in the news today:
CM and LDA boss use discretion: Rs229m consultancy contract lacks transparency

Interesting read!!! Every rule broken to award "Al-Imam Enterprise" a Rs 229m consultancy contract (on a project worth Rs250 million), a firm that does not even have Pakistan Engineering Council registration...

Does anyone know who owns "Al-Imam Enterprise"?

  15. Another update on the Abid Sher Ali story:
Embezzlement charges: ACE, police fail to arrest accused
"...The chief justice took suo motu notice of a news item stating that PML-N MNA Abid Sher Ali, a close relative of Nawaz Sharif, got freed contractor Nasir Butt, who was arrested from outside the Commissioner’s Office on April 12 for his involvement in two corruption cases.

They said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had directed the ACE director-general to arrest the accused, particularly Nasir Butt and TO Muzzamil Husain, and produce them before court...."

And what action is Shahbaz going to take against Abid Sher Ali? Shouldn't charges be brought against him as well?? At the very least shouldn't he be thrown out of the party??? (Certainly won't happen as Abid is a close relative. Anyone know how is he related??)

  17. Another ghundagardi and badmashi of PML-N member. Abid Sher Ali is an extremely rude person. Now it has become almost a daily occurrence for PM-N members to involve in unlawful acts and impeding public servants do their work. What a shame
We don’t know what happened to Islamabad MNA who did ghundagardi bashing in Islamabad and what about credit card scandal of PML-N MPA and the alleged rape case involving one of PML-N MNA’s. Public want to know hat Police action has been taken against these high profile PML-N members.

    @ nota:

What it was that seemed hypocritic to you in my comments? The bias of PCO Iftikhar and his lack of credibility is a different matter and being discussed at more than required threads on this forum.

As far as your arguments are concerned, no one knows how corrupt the army is because media does not talk about it. I have repeatedly said that the parliament is strengthening it self and it will be the first to take actions to reign in the army. You cannot talk about alleged corruption in this govt and not compare it with the alleged corruption in previous govt's tenure. When you address politicians collectively and blame democracy, you are asking for army intervention, criticism in isolation is equivalent to sabotaging.
