Leaving aside the conspiracy, do you belive aliens exist?
@ everybody
I have a theory about jinns. It's odd, but it made the Quran all the more relevant to me.
I believe that the references to Jinns is actually a reference to germs and bacteria. Here's why
Jinns are described as being invisible to the human eye. That's true for bacteria and viruses too of course
Jinns are described as both "good" and "bad". Some bacteria are beneficial to the human organism and some are detrimental. Penecillian is bacteria, our digestive systems contain bacteria for the digestive process and some bacteria actively combat other things harmful to the human body. Likewise in the case of vira, the cowpox wirus is what protects humans from smallpox.
There are of course also the "bad" jinns like cholera, typhoid, influenze and anything else that makes people sick.
Jinns are described as being "made of fire". When a person gets sick from infection they get fevers. So it wouldn't be incorrect to say they are made of fire.
And i also think of the ayah that muslims are supposed to read when they enter the washroom to the effect "allah, protect me from the Jinns within". Seems perfectly reasonable to ask to protection against germs and bacteria in a place that is packed full of them no?
To people 1400 years ago it would be difficult to explain what germs and bacteria were without resorting to parables and metaphors. As mankind's knowledge increases they have to decipher and understand these metaphors to realize their true meaning.
I think the Jinn are a perfect example of how an updated understanding of Quranic verses make it a contemporary and current text, without invalidating or contradicting it. I mean this is the best way for us to get the full benefit of the wisdom held within it.
