I don't know his intentions of learning Urdu but the person I would like to appreciate is new Muslim convert Dr. Umar Farooq Abdullah who runs Al Nawawi Institute in Chicago.

    http://www.nawawi.org/aboutus/umarf.html

He speaks excellent Arabic and also learned Urdu. Once "Urdu has lot of Islamic literature next only to Arabic".

I mean not this person in particular but we have had some horrific experiences in our community from such bilingual gora's....

  8. yes..sure...

our local muslim community over the past years was very warm towards local muslims who converted to islam for issues ranging from iman, food, women and something new. But we the muslims are not allowed to suspect their intentions so we always gladly accepted them and showed utmost tolerance to ex criminals who excepted Islam in jails as in usa Islam is known to be a jail religion, every one, every one is a "brother" in the jail....

after 911 we had a strange surge of arab, pathan and local white muslims in our communities all of a sudden, which or whom we never saw taking shahda......usually our masjids give out certificates of conversions for travel to saudia, Jordan etc, but we all were alerted by our Pakistani people working for government that be careful what you say.

now most of these brothers, arabs, pathans and gora's mostly would talk to us in English or attend our gatherings and talk to young men about jihad as in the beginning "freedom of speech" was openly exercised and even local Americans were with us.....before the patriot act came out.

one night we heard that bilal a young hafiz e quran was missing since 9 days, then yusuf, then another ...we found out that these young kids were openly talking about jihad and how to hurt or how to organize or how to motivate local public against rallies and govt policy and this was a federal crime now and they were taken into custody....

this excelled to a level where our masajids started having Chanda issues and survival became an issue, some of these kids came back and said, do you remember that long bearded gora and that Arab or that pathan, they were all agents and they all knew Urdu but never spoke it among us cause we usually do not think that a gora will understand Urdu and pass remarks but they all understand and they all know it..with different levels of understandings!

actually i attend two bail hearings myself and the witness for anti American remarks were desis and one arab who spoke urdu and one gora who spoke Hindi.

the details of this is much more but due to sensitive nature of this issue, including my friends and my relatives i can give more details in private email not here...

thats why i warn all of you to be carefully of those who try to curse America they are going to get your wrapped and it will be circumstantial evidence against you....

Interesting, but in my opinion this guys didn't had anything to do with religion. He was more like intoxicated with culture of east like I am intoxicated with small town usa than the bright chicago or new york. He is a translotor and scholar and also he was in pakistan in pre afghan era when pakistan was a different story. Thats all my opinion.

    Dear Mulla,
I know you are a lively knowledgeable person and kidding is your good nature.

One must avoid immoral, unethical, unlawful, illegal and inhuman activities not only in Ramadhan but for the whole of life.
If some one claims, pretends or preaches that Music is Haram during Ramdhan (only), he/she has every right to do so.
    I personally don't agree.
Music is the most relaxing and soothing gift from God.

    @Mulla
I think when the British came to India, they did not learn the language. They did not let their kids learn the local language. Still they occupied the sub-continent but for different reasons.
I think if such people increase in number they can better understand our religious and cultural values which would result in better policies of the US for us.

    I appreciate his efforts.
