For long, many Pakistanis have wondered just how do certain Pakistani media men and religious leaders who have turned the obsessive act of badmouthing the US, Jews and liberals into a robust cottage industry, manage to travel so frequently to the US. Well, it seems the days of curiosity in this respect may be coming to an end. According to a front-page story in Dawn last Friday, four US Congressmen have asked Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton, to refuse visas to those Pakistanis who are on record praising the killer of former Governor of Punjab, Salmaan Taseer.

Apart from Taseer incident, are there any US government groups or think tank who realize that these "Pious Bareesh Leaders" are realities and they have to deal with them in some constructive manners at some point in history?
Yahya Jee, forgive my ignorance but what is the connotation of bananas to the topic under discussion? Any story behind it?

Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,
Mr. Nadeem F Paracha has gone nuts in that he still thinks the debter nation called USA and its people are still the "standard", the "example" of "making progress".
Does he even have an idea of how much debt USA and its people are living under ?
Its high time the intelligent, educated people among Pakistanis' stop giving Mr. Nadeem F Paracha their attention. He and his writings don't deserve it.

The US is still one of the the richest nations on the planet and also the leading world manufacturer (but China is catching up). In fact, when it comes to high tech equipment like the factory robots and machinery that make other products, the US is leading the pack.
Even in the US's recession, it still has more wealth that most other countries combined. The debt is indeed a problem, but is just one single factor in the health of an economy. The US still has a lot more wealth then people realize.

"The US is still one of the the richest nations on the planet"
agreed, as long as paper printing machines are printing paper, no one can compete with that paper stack, printers will always have more printed volume
that does not make one rich, it is the ability to control/manage world affairs that gives the power, not paper printers-

Even without paper money, the US still have enough natural resources, including even oil, and manufacturing capacity to be one of the richest in the world. The US defence budget alone is bigger the most countries combined.

Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,
@saqib55: How can a country be rich when it;
(1) has massive debts (it owes to offshore bankers)
(2) has no money, in that all or most all of the money circulating in their economy is "debt" money that has nothing of value behind it?
They have to pay back this debt with! interest, which was also never created in the first place. When they pay back this debt money + interest, "at that time" they'll have ZERO money left in USA.

Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,
@saqib55: Muslims can also create all the money in the world, just like USA. We even have natural resources to back our currency with, as collateral, as something of value.
What Muslims don't do is to "bribe" others with it. People in USA bribe others with their money all the time. In-fact bribing others with their money is mostly what they'v done all throughout the previous century, be it in the shape of;
(1) offering higher salaries to people in foreign countries
(2) financing political campaigns of criminals within our land
(3) financing/coordinating colour/labeled revolutions in multiple states
(4) bribing local administration officials in other nation states to throw away interests of local people (their own people) and in contrast safeguard interests of USA within their lands
(5) etc etcThat's the difference between us and them. Otherwise, we also have "printing presses" in Pakistan, as well as most all other nation states in the world.
Pakistan can create all the money to finance all the military budgets, all the projects of development it wants to. Have you ever pondered on "why we never do that", why Pakistan has never done so since it was created ?

Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,
@saqib55: Haven't you been watching "Keiser Report" ? Its aired on RussiaToday channel. Its available on youtube.
I'v been posting it regularly on this forum/community, for the benefit of people, so people can improve their knowledge about what is happening with money, with different markets all around the world.

haris khan, just printing money like you think pakistan could do would simply increase inflation. Please look up basic economics before making such comments. If you think printing money is as simple as that, why wouldn't the US print more money to pay off its debt?
America has a large domestic market which consumes not only the US manufactured goods, but needs to rely on China to meet all demands. We can dream big all we want, but right now the US is far far away from getting poor.

Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,
@saqib55: (1) We have never started, and US has reached a point in continuing to print money, where it can't afford to do so any longer
(2) Inflation is ok, human beings accept it, as a natural part of life, as long as you couple it with "productivity" to pay it off with, in the short/long term
Just don't run away with it. Just don't allow it be in the hands of those who are going to make a mess of it.
(3) We have an equally large local economy right here;
(a) Pakistan (180m) + Afghanistan (25m) + Iran (74m) = 279 million people of a local economy
(b) Add Turkey (77m) to the list and you get 356 million people
I'd say that's a bigger local economy than USA, right here. And I haven't even added the Arabs and other African Muslims yet.
What you have to make sure of, is to;
(i) "balance" consumption with production
(ii) "make sure" local people get premium quality education
(iii) "make sure" there is rule of law
(iv) "make sure" the word of traders carry meaning when conducting trade, not only locally but also internationally
(v) etc etcIn other words, which means you have to live a healthy, productive life, making "constructive" decisions, taking "constructive" actions, which will include "accepting" killing off of criminals who are hell bent on destroying your local economy from its root, of-course.

Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,
@saqib55: USA already is poor.
You need to look at the facts, rather than the rhetoric.

saqib
yes, if money printed alone then it would lead to inflation, but you need to educate yourself more on international relations, Oil is tied to dollar which proves to be the sole backing, plus many banks use dollar as Forex currency and have their currencies backed by dollar.. so please get out of dollar illusions and see the reality beyond cobweb

@saqib55: If illiterate people, college/university dropouts can run Computer/IT industry in USA, think of the businesses uneducated people/Muslims of Pakistan and other Muslim nation states can run.

Salam, I thought your fellow jamaati bhai haris khan was just arguing that dollars are just "paper" that can be printed without consequence and here you're saying they're backed by oil. Which is it? I myself don't believe the dollar is backed by any commodity.
"Inflation is ok, human beings accept it"
@Haris khan, lol, tell that to pre WWII Germany where they had to haul in wheelbarrow full of bills to buy bread.
